I’ve spent the weekend attending plans all alone. I wanted this, i felt like I deserved it and so i did. I attended a concert a few hours ago, being the only person sitted in front row while the rest of the fans were standing up at the back, and with friends. I had no one. I did care for a bit, but then the singer started singing and i loved every bit of it bc it felt like a private concert. I’ve worked so hard for this. To love myself enough to fight my social anxiety and give 0 fucks about what people might think...i’m so proud of me. So proud. ❤️❤️

Album review: Secretly Hoping You Catch Me Looking by PAVVLA

Hailing from Barcelona indie singer-songwriter PAVVLA released her sophomore album in November “Secretly hoping you catch me looking”. A showcase of songs about life and vintage love.

Songs tinted with sepia tones, retain warmth and an underlying darkness. If this album was a season it would be Autumn.

PAVVLA’s stance on life has changed somewhat since her debut album “Creatures” which brought her to many cities across Europe, as well as the USA for SXSW.

Where there was once darkened fairytales of love there are now dark tales of growth and love; retaining the acoustic elements her fans have grown to love.

“Burnt to Ashes” and “The World Stopped The Day You Were Born” embody her musical evolution best. Stripped back guitar and soft synths reappear; creating a welcoming feeling. The subtle notes and percussion compliment her ethereal voice creating a relaxed feeling to the listener; the perfect songs for a roadtrip to the middle of nowhere.

My only criticism with this album is the track order, it doesn't flow as well as her previous album did. However this did not detract too much from the listening experience.  

Electronic heavy tracks include the aptly named ‘Something New’ and ‘Dance Alone’ a relaxed synth pop track.

My favorite track overall is “None Of The Above” a happy middle ground between her older sound and her more alternative electronic tracks.

Overall this album is a crowd pleaser and well rounded.
