Epilogue
Read from the beginning

Chapter Seven>
A burst of champagne bubbled out, glinting against the shine of the beautiful chandelier. That shine still dimmed against the glow Khushi was brimming with.
Her hand firmly ensconced in his, she looked at the happy faces across the hall and let out a sigh of relief.
“Penny for your thoughts?”
“I am glad we had a small engagement party “
He smiled.
“Yes well, Garima aunty agreed to let go for now. But the wedding is going to have all of Lucknow and Delhi and some more.”
She groaned, “Just when I thought I had to deal with less people! “
“Less people?”
Khushi jumped as her mother joined them.
“My only daughter is getting married. It will be a wedding Lucknow couldn’t have dreamt of witnessing!”
“Of course aunty. Anything you wish”, Arnav said with an endearing wink.
“Traitor”, she muttered under her breath.
And one look at his smug face, she knew he had heard her.
“Come Khushi, you have to greet some of our friends”
And with that she was stirred across the hall.
—————
“K! This house is massive!”
She smiled at Preetika.
“I don’t even know when Arnav bought it!”
Payal laughed, “Engagement present from Junior Raizada hah?”
“I guess”
“Ladies” Noah greeted them, placing a kiss on Preetika’s blushing cheeks.
With raised eyebrows, the girls coughed away, sharing a meaningful look.
Khushi saw Akash saunter up to them with flutes of champagne held precariously in his hands.
Preeto, not letting the spotlight rest on her, said “So, Akash you have been dating Payal for three years and here Arnav is on the way to be hitched after just a few days! Where is the ring, man?”
“Preeto” Payal warned her with a sharp glance.
To their surprise, Akash instead of his ever ready practical response flushed and took a clumsy sip from his glass.
“Here comes the man of the hour” Noah announced.
“Hello” Arnav slipped an arm around her waist, his eyes flitting over others.
“Nice house Raizada “ Preeto whistled.
“Yes Arnav, it's really beautiful. When are you giving us a tour?”
“Thank you. Um…the house is not finished yet. Even this drawing room was done up just in time for today”
Khushi glanced up at him curiously. She also hadn't seen the rest of the house. It felt strange. To know that by the end of the year, they’ll live here as man and wife. He will belong to her.
Whirlwind romance was too tame a term to describe their tale, she thought with a secret smile.
“Come with me” his whisper flooded her senses.
“Where?” she whispered back.
He said nothing. His eyes seducing her against her sense of common propriety.
Escaping? From their own engagement party?
——————
They stood in front of a beautifully embossed door.
“Are we going to go in or….”
“Shush” he took out a set of keys.
He picked one and opened the door, motioning for her to go in first.
She stepped in. Her gasp echoed across the room.
A beautiful oak wood table dominated the room. Shelves and shelves lined with books. The curtains in her favourite shade of green.
And the best of all, a magnificent velvet red chair.
“You didn’t!”
“Do you like it?”
She turned around to see Arnav look around, his hands in his pocket, the firm set of his lips giving his nerves away.
She smiled and turned towards the shelves.
“You bought these?” she asked as she ran a hand along the binding of ‘ Interior designing: The Bible’.
“I had a little help from your aunt”, his eyes wide, seemingly still searching for her approval.
She walked towards the chair. She settled herself, crossed her legs and flashed him a smile.
“Khushi,” he warned.
“What? No whiskey tonight?” She giggled.
Her smile dipped for a moment, as Arnav reached for a desk behind him.
Flashing a beautiful gold whisky flask at her, he poured down a glass.
“You are indeed a devil!”
He raised a perfect eyebrow.
“A devil?”
“Yup” she said with much glee.
“So that makes you an angel, hah?” He handed her the glass, “An angel who trapped the devil”
She took a sip, feeling the burn down her throat, warming her chest.
“It’s the other way around Arnav”
“Really?” He bent his head down to take a sip from the glass, locking his eyes with hers.
Khushi swallowed.
Damn him
He rested his arms on the chair’s edge and took her lips in a rough kiss. He tasted of their shared whiskey and something more. Something inherently Arnav.
She melted against him, her lips moving softly against his pressure. He slowed the kiss down, taking her breath away.
Blinking, as he kissed her forehead.
“This is your new office “
“New office?”
“Yes, my gift to you. And well with your aunt's blessings.”
“You are giving me an office” she cupped his face as the implications of the gesture sank in.
Her own office
She gasped as she was lifted off the chair into his arms.
“Arnav” she admonished as her arms winded around his neck.
“I am going to be your husband Khushi, and it’s my duty to know every little dream. Every little wish of yours”
She gave him a watery smile, her heart marvelling at the man she had fallen in love with.
Planting a soft kiss on her cheek, he mumbled into her ear, “Let’s head back before they send the CBI behind us, shall we?”
She laughed, her eyes filled with love.
“Let’s “ she said solemnly .
Arnav grinned. And she was lost once again.

Bandage to the Heart | Part - 1
Entry to the IPKKND 13th anniversary fiesta
Word Prompt : Jouska
"Khushi, do you think it is wise, what we are doing?" asked Payal, drawing her little sister's hand away from the ornate deep blue lehenga he was unfolding.
"What? Your Shaadi? If this is not wise enough, what else would you like to do? Ohho, Jiji! I never knew you were interested in live-in!" The aforementioned little sister widened her eyes while fighting a smile.
Payal smacked Khushi's head with her free hand.
"Nahi!" -
"Going ahead I would never hide anything from you Payal-ji. However big it is."
Akash is definitely the better of both of them. He is sincere and it shows in each promise he makes to her. Doesn't he deserve the same loyalty?
But what good would that do? On the day of the havan before their engagement, he walked into the house bearing the news of his marriage to Anjali-ji. Brought out thunders from Buaji. Disbelief and devastation in her Amma. Seems like both her daughters had bad luck with walking up to the wedding altar. Her Babuji surprisingly was strong considering the whole wedding was his plan. He huffed and looked away, but didn't shed a tear when he heard all that. What else could a paralyzed man do anyway.
Everything Shyam-ji had claimed sounded almost.. true. It was Buaji who hounded him and Khushi to be wedded. He didn't have enough time to process the situation when they got hastily engaged by the bedside of their very sick Babuji. He was an outsider in the haughty Raizada clan. He just wanted apnapan. He finally got enough courage to reveal the truth this day, heaven forbid he didn't, he couldn't go against his principles even if he was in a loveless marriage.
But Payal also noticed how he spoke about Khushi to their elders. Egging them on to hitch them up together. How he never involved any of his family from Lucknow even after the engagement. Who carries their Kundali in their work suitcase anyway? He could have denied the wedding firmly right from the start. Buaji could force Khushi citing her adoption, but she couldn't make Shyam-ji do anything he didn't want to do, could she?
Anyway, it's not as if Akash nor any other member of the family would believe an iota of whatever she would tell them against their beloved Damaad-ji.
Why is this so complicated? If only she could love Akash freely, not burdened by the truth she's holding from him.
Khushi is technically her little sister. But she has seen more of the world than herself. Stood up for the family in need of a head. Has been cheated on. Takes up the challenges life throws at her with a smile and a quick prayer to her Devi Maiyya.
She's always been there for her chutki and supported her through numerous "disasters" that keep following Khushi Kumari Gupta wherever she goes. But today strangely she is the one feeling exposed to vultures in Shaantivan. Her sister has no business hanging about in this place come tomorrow and she can't think of a way to keep her support system to herself for the rest of her life.
Nightmares of her soon-to-be MIL keep her up at night anyway but it is Shyam who worries her truly. She couldn't pin upon anything unseemly in his behaviour since he left Laxmi Nagar, but who was she kidding? He seemed harmless while he was living with them too, at least till the truth came out. And had she not sensed his veiled threat? (Bhale hi her Amma and Buaji saw that as no more than an unwelcome consequence). Of Payal's marriage prospect crumbling if the Raizada's knew.
God knows what he would do or make her do by dangling the truth over her head. He's not truly in love with this family, is he? It's she who would suffer. Something had to be done here.
"Khushi, woh hum soch rahe the ki.."
"Yeh woh kuch nahi." Khushi came and sat by her sister who was lost in her train of thought.
"I know what's going on in your head. Waise if I say something it would be chhoti muh badi baat, but I will say it anyway. One thing I've understood by hanging around Arnav Singh Raizada is this. Be selfish in the matters of your family. And Akash Jiju is going to be your family in a few hours. Your relationship with him should matter the most. What good would it do if this wedding stopped now? Let him become your Pati and tell him whatever you want then. He is a good man. And smart. He would see the truth. And I have given my Maiyya murti to you. She would be with you always."
"Shyam-ji wouldn't dare put a toe out of the line under this roof with Arnav-ji and Jijaji around. But don't wait around until he does something irreversible. Hell, even if he doesn't, you should speak to Jijaji about this. If your husband can't understand and trust you, who would? If he can't share your pain and burden, who else would, Jiji?"
"He adores his Di. He has to know if you have something to share about her. But all in good time. Whenever you are ready."
Payal blinked and stared at her sister. Relief and resolve spread through her chest as she thought about what to do. Gently she cupped Khushi's face and kissed her forehead.
P.S. I know OG Khushi loves being in denial and would like to close her eyes and pretend there's no problem.. or justify being quiet by telling herself she should give Shyam a second chance for the sake of Anjali's marriage.. but here I just wanted to explore a little of what happens if these characters were just a bit more.. vocal. Thanks for reading!
P.S. P.S. This is my first attempt at posting something I wrote please be kind 🥹

“Jeonghan one shot”
Pairing: Yoon Jeonghan x female reader
Genre: fluff [desi setting]
Warnings: no warnings
Word count: 1.1 K
Author’s Note: I am back with another husband Jeonghan imagine, this was actually quite impulsive, and I wrote this at 1 am. I have no idea if this whole imagine made sense or not, but i hope you enjoy reading this small fluff. And i was writing while reading this song, somewhere I felt like this described how much Jeonghan loved her. AND IT’S NOT PROOFREAD
happy reading :)
I walked out of the bathroom and saw, Noor getting ready, more like wearing the red saree. Somewhere I was lost, inside her when she was fixing her saree, and her hair was done with a pretty bun, with her curtains bangs out and making her look so beautiful, as if I was smitten by her beauty. She was literally glowing.
The way her fingers were trying to fix her saree slowly; it reminded me of the day I first saw her in a saree, and she wore a red saree at that time as well. It wasn’t at our wedding, but it was at peheli rasoi. Considering we saw each other in marriage, and the look on her face, made me realize that there was some missing part in my life that I was searching for and I found it right infront of me. The way she looked at me through the flower curtain before signing and saying ‘qubool hai’ three times, was the first time I heard her voice and my heart told me how I would be hearing it for the rest of my life, how I would be waking up to this voice and ending my day with it.
I was still when she moved her hands to fix her pallu, I was still lost in her. She was trying to pin her pallu, but it wasn’t working. I walked towards her, when she looked so focused in her saree.
I held the pallu and she looked at me through the mirror, she looked taken aback, her eyes told me she didn’t expect me to be here. She was about to say something, “let me” and she nodded.
Once her pallu was pinned and she looked at the mirror, my heart almost skipped beat when our fingers touched, she was looking so breathtaking. How does she pull off to look this pretty every time. “and ho gaya yeh” (and it’s done)
“thank you”
“aapke liye kuch bhi” (anything for you) and the smile when she is flustered on her face was something that meant a lot to me. I saw her move her hands to pick up the chain, but I was fast to pick it up. How could I let her do everything when she looked so fine and pretty but mine?
I held her shoulder, and she looked so flustered when I put the chain around her neck, I could say she couldn’t say a single thing because she was very flustered. This was probably the first time I was helping her to get ready, it’s always her who gets ready even before I can admire her in the morning and sometimes I am so thankful for some events or festivals when I see her getting ready in the morning wearing saree or kurti-patiyala or sharara. I love the way she takes my breath away.
“aaj kya ho gaya, you’re helping me today?” (what happened to you today, you're helping me?) she smiled at me, I won’t lie when I say she looks the prettiest when she smiles.
“chain pehena raha hun aapko” I took a pause and told her what my heart wanted to say “Aur itni sundar jo lag rahi hain, thore hi aapko sab karne de sakta hun. Mujhe bhi thori aapki khubsurati ko niharne ka mauka den” she was flustered again. I picked her earrings which were on the dressing table, I helped her with them. Earrings just added lives to my life. If only words could help me describe how much she looked like mine.
I saw the kamarband and picked it up, she was surprised, “Yeh aap kya- I cut her off pulling her waist and then putting the kamarband around her waist. I was too focused on her.
Once I was done, it reminded me how she loved wearing payal and I would definitely want her to wear payal today, afterall she looked so beautiful and I could take my eyes off her “Stay here and give me a second” she nodded. I went to open the wardrobe where I kept the new payal I bought for her. I was waiting for the right time and I won’t get a better time than this.
I went to her and showed her the payal, she almost gasped, “Aapke liye laya tha” (bought this for you)
“Thank you” and her smile was worthless, even millions of diamonds wouldn’t be able to buy her smile, probably because her smile was worth my life.
I bent down and gestured her to keep her foot on my thigh, so that I could put the payal on her. Jab bhi woh payal pehen k chalti thi, mujhe lagta tha meri zindagi chal rahi hai aur mai apni zindagi k samne jhukne k liye bhi taiyaar hun
Once she gave me her feet and I put the payal around her, I got up and looked at her. Admiration was the first thing I could do and it felt surreal that she was mine. Then came love, and she was the perfect definition of love. It felt like my life got meaning ever since she came into my life, her presence was the reason why I was standing here and falling in love with her every second.
I was looking at her eyes and it felt like I was lost in her eyes, her eyes were telling me something with love, we don’t need words to confess or tell that we are falling in love, actions speak louder than words. “aapko payal pasand toh ai na?” she nodded and smiled, “thank you so much” I took a step closer to her and tugged her hair strands and couldn’t resist myself from saying “kitni sundar lag rahi hain aap” She looked at me and gave me a smile.
Oh my gosh. One look at her right now and I realized how much I love her, can she even tell how much I already love her?
God forbid me from falling this hard for her.
I gave her my smile subconsciously while I had her thoughts about how I fell in love with her the moment I saw her behind the flower curtains during our nikah. And how everything she does makes me fall in love with her over again
And in a blink I felt her lips on mine briefly. She ran away even before I could react, my fingers went to touch my lips where she kissed me; I was just standing there processing that she just kissed me like that and ran away even before I could kiss her back.
I ran out of the room, in the hope I would catch her before she could go downstairs, I noticed she was near the staircase and pulled her by her arm, “Where are you running away?” I leaned towards her and kissed her before she could say a single word. I pulled her closer by her waist, she couldn’t just steal my first kiss like that.
Once I let her go, I looked at her, she was way too flustered to speak a single word, so I decided to speak up “I know itni sundar hoke jaa rahi hain, par meri hi hoke wapas aana, meri jaan” and I kissed her once again.
Nothing could describe how much I love her.

a think piece on how arnav singh raizada realised his feelings for khushi
of course, it would have been discussed numerous times before, we all know what happened and when it happened. i'm thinking more along the lines of why it happened this way. why did it take him so long to realise that these visceral reactions he has over her did not really stem from a place of hate, that hate was just a byproduct, a reaction, because he didn't realise what his emotions meant.
that it was altogether a new feeling, to be so consumed with thoughts of someone (whom you supposedly dislike). he tried so hard to run from those feelings, misdirecting them to hatred, disgust, apathy and what not. it was new— an unknown feeling that made him uncomfortable. i think in a way this echoes what i said earlier too, that arnav never really believed in love. which is why it took him ages to figure out why the hell he was so obsessed with someone who shouldn't even matter to him. i think what he hates the most about feeling attracted to khushi (aside from the fact that he never imagined himself with a girl like her? ie. see how he berates her: status, class, money, god-fearing etc) is the way she makes him feel— weak. and that's the feeling this man has rarely, if ever, felt for anyone outside his family.
also, elaborating on the statement that arnav didn't believe in love (even though no one asked for it lol), it is imperative to add that he has seen love exist, only barely, with nana-nani or whatever stories he heard about them and between mama and mamiji. but what else did he also see? that his dad cheated on his mom. that anjali's first wedding got broken off. and even though anjali was relatively happy with shyam— it wasn't a relationship he had experienced in his childhood, which is generally the time when your experiences shape you the most. so maybe he believed that love exists, to some degree, but not the whole unfiltered ~i would die for you~ love. remember how he convinced mamiji to accept payal? with the 'raizada' reputation? so he hadn't really experienced the best examples of love either.
unlike popular belief that arnav never felt deserving of love, i think that he never completely believed in it. especially not for a man like him who has to be careful around every turn because everyone around him is expecting to benefit from him. remember, this man is hella confident, and believes completely in himself (almost to the point of narcissism, esp in the early ipk days) and his ego is justified, afterall he did do a lot by himself and he's not bluffing about any of it. this man doesn't doubt himself, he could have anything he wanted. even love— that lavanya was willing to give him. but he doesn't believe in his ability to love, not after what he had seen with his parents.
which is exactly why this new confusing feeling, these obsessive thoughts about khushi, the way he felt weak and defeated in front of her was so absurd for him that he couldn't even realise that he was attracted to her. (with her, he has realised his ability to love, to want someone so desperately.) but instead he kept challenging her in order to make her feel weak and defeated. projecting much, sir?
and to be fair, arnav has mostly been a man of his words— truthful. if he said he didn't believe in love before he experienced it with khushi, it means he genuinely didn't. anyway, that's my take.
i have so much more to talk about this man!! for example how his diabetes is literally a metaphor because he can't have 'sweet' things in life?? 'sweet' here literally meaning happiness! happiness translation: khushi. and having diabetes compliments his character so well too? like he was cruel, cold-hearted and bitter (esp about his past, that he never could overcome) and so it aligned pretty well with khushi's 'meetha khaiye meetha boliye' kyuki arnav ko toh meetha bolna hi nahi aata! usse toh meetha mana hai na!
if you're still reading, thanks for sticking around lol

Iss pyaar ko kya naam doon '. ? Iss pyaar ko kya naam doon ' ? '
Four transitioning images, young hearts getting into young thoughts, very intimate with their own dreams, desires, and hopes, along with some hidden fears, hesitations, and restrictions. The beauty in this is that the transitions mingled into each other show us the expressions of each state of mind and their habits. There were no words besides "Mere Maula."
Tumblr media
"Jab wo tumhari zindagi main ayegi, tumhain pata bhi nahin chalega aur wo tumhari zidagi ka hissa ban jayegi"
You won't even realize it when that girl enters your life, and she will become a part of you,
His sister knew that he was looking for someone else, not Lavanya...Mr Raizada is smiling!!! With a slight upward tilt of the lips... a delightful smirk...with an amused indulgence listening to the revelation of her sister's pep talk of romance and all. At this moment, he does not believe that this will ever happen to him, but he will be the one who will confess later to his sister the same words...
"Wo larki Khushi hai di...jiske bhgair mujhe lagta hai meri sansain ruk gaye hain..."
That girl is Khushi, without whom I can't breathe,
A beautiful evening across the breezy poolside. He was immersed in his sister's words, a deep thought... Shaadi nahin karni ya Lavanya se nahin karni? [ You don't want to get married, or you don't want to get married to Lavanya?"
A question he might never have thought about before from this angle. His face is stern with the poker-faced, kinda, austere person, standing while leaning onto the side of the door. Being immersed, focused with folded arms among the blue ambience of the water and the wind.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While transitioning to a smiling face, a carefree, sitting and enjoying her victory to let ASR know that he was wrong and even today, he is wrong about her, she carries a winning attitude, to go and get done kind of spirit. She signed a contract without putting two cents about the consequences, but she will do whatever it will take to prove him wrong and give him back his 25000 rupees. Her smile never left her face as the wind tickled her to incite a strange feeling around her aurora. Well, Dupatta was playing a role here as well...
Two sisters were enjoying the weather under the open sky. The wind, thunder, a little drizzling and their intense contract chat turns into a wedding..."Kyon na hum un larko se shaadi karain jo bhai hon..."Let's get married to the boys who are brothers..."
Not much from Payal about weddings as she went through a lot after her first breakup...but Khushi thinks marriage is the most important thing in life. A naive, simple girl will meet the reality later during her forced marriage.
Tumblr media
A nice foundation for the upcoming story. Well, Khushi had no idea that Payal had met Akash sir today, who was the brother of her Sanky...paagal boss.

Another love was developing and weaving its own path. Akash was smiling and thinking over his meeting with Payal. He bought her favorite dupatta as well and, of course, daydreaming about her. How ironic is that Akash's mother is looking for his bride, and he has already found one. A brother-sis moment where Anjali catches Akash with that pink dupatta..." mujhe bana rahe ho," you're making me fool?"
Wasn't this dialogue reflecting that someone out there was making her fool?
Hai dhoop sa wo agar to wo chandini raat si hai [ He is like a sun and she is like a moonlight] fit here.
It feels as if Khushi was witnessing a miracle, as ever so slowly she raises her eyes towards the moon, watching herself drinking in sight, sensing the flood of memories she's unleashed and wanting nothing more than to let him know that she can do it, she will do it.  But instead, he stood where he was and stared up at the moon as well. And for the briefest instant, it almost feels like they're together. Two silhouettes in the moonlight.  The bewitching power of moonlight incites dark passions like a cold flame, making hearts burn with intensity.
The presence of the elements of intimacy like clouds as a soft murmuring feeling in their hearts, drizzling rain as the first rain on dry land like the meeting with this strange desire for the first time, a little striking light, as igniting the fire within them, in and out of moonlight in between clouds, trying showing them ways to each other, and the wind, taking and receiving unknown messages.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His eyes searched into the sky, probably looking out for his mother in between stars, moon, clouds, and everything while she was the same. She believes in Stars as her parents are stars. She smiles even though she misses them, thinking of them looking at her while he wants his mother to look at him with questions.
Is she happy seeing him?
He will ask this question later, and Khushi will show him the way to this belief...
“The moon is the reflection of your heart, and moonlight is the twinkle of your love.”
― Debasish Mridha
Amid the moon and the stars, amid the quiet night, amid the magnificent silhouette of the moonlight, he was intoxicated by the pellucid beauty of innocent Khushi whose words circled him.
"Hum yahan se kahin nahin jayengey kyuonke hum galat nahin..."
I won't go anywhere because I am not wrong...
Tumblr media
The blue and cold rays of the moon paid him absolute tribute tonight. He was a buffet of muscles and corded strength of his world, and she entered there with a unique attitude. Undoubtedly, she was different among vintage books, more like a pale moonlight, exotic thing, forbidden love and rainy night.
He felt that jolt strongly...oh yes, he did...
What should I name this love?

Seasons of Love ~ Spring (1/4)
Tumblr media
I want to thank @sankititaliya aka the lovely Leela for sparking this idea in my brain yesterday!
Something that I greatly admire about Arshi’s love and IPK’s writing is how thematic it is and can be mapped by so many different things …one of those things being different seasons. So this is my rough idea of the different stages of Arshi’s love through the symbolism of the 4 different seasons.
Spring is the season of hope, birth and love… a season that is symbolic of innocence, much like the innocence and sweetness of Arnav and Khushi’s love that begins to properly bloom during the events of Payal and Akash’s wedding 💐💖
Edit: interestingly, there’s also a melancholic touch to Spring as it’s born from winter, so despite the peaks of sunshine and signs of flowers blooming, there’s a touch of chilliness to it…much like Khushi’s feelings during this period, having experienced the Diwali heartbreak. We can still see the slight hesitation in the beginning of this period as she slowly begins to warm up to Arnav again.

✨New✨ Arhi FF: Iss Darr Ko Kya Naam Doon
Tumblr media
Summary:
Khushi is an internet famous 27 year old fashion designer from Lucknow. She has a chirpy and childish demeanor yet could not be more mature, brave and compassionate. She is the apple of her father's eye, loves Salman ji, cricket, keeping track of star signs and making jalebis is toh her therapy! She is desperate to expand her business outside the social media and start her own label in fashion. Willing to work hard, armed with her ever sharp wit and an optimistic twinkle in her eye, she is on a serious look out for a big-break opportunity to establish herself in the tough world of fashion business. And this could not happen in the most bizarre manner as she literally falls into it. Who knew ending up at the wrong place, at the wrong time would IN FACT turn out to be the opposite - right place, right time and right....person?
The fashion industry however is dominated by the King of Indian Fashion: Arnav Singh Raizada, popularly known for his bridal and ethnic wear. All of the who's and who of the fashion world in India looks up to the Raizada for its exquisite traditional indian wear. Everyone wants a "Raizada" wedding lehenga for their wedding or anything with the "Raizada" label on it. And now, as the brand gears up to expand globally, Arnav Singh Raizada aka ASR is now on a spree for assembling a team to get this transition right and is looking for someone that would make this re-positioning as a global venture a resounding success. But "life" does not stop happening because you have an obviously important international expansion to make, does it?
On his trip for a pivotal fashion show (among other things) to Lucknow, a woman practically hijacks his runway and unironically stumbles right into his arms! The design she is wearing comes to be the most celebrated look of the show. It is not a Raizada design but no one has figured it out. This irks him to no end for reasons he isn't able fully understand even though the event is a huge success. Arnav has a legacy of being the best in his business. And being the control freak that he his, he has to ensure that this Lucknowi designer does not get snatched up by his competitors who are always clawing at his throat to get ahead of him. He is known as the King of Indian Fashion for a reason after all!
Read on to find out what happens when Arnav drags Khushi to Delhi to work for him and these two crazies struggle to overcome some critical personal and creative differences while working together. Will this choice be the worst decision of their lives? Will it be the beginning of their doom or the start of something new?
Author’s Note:
Iss Darr Ko Kya Naam Doon is a combination of "fix-it" and "canon-based" fanfiction of an Indian TV show from 2011 called Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon which is about lead protagonists Khushi played by Sanaya Irani and Arnav played by Barun Sobti.
It is an old-fashioned romance style in a progressive setting. The story takes place in 2023 of Lucknow and Delhi. The language used here is a mixture of English and Roman English. The essence of all the charachters remains same except for a few changes made to make them more progressive and relatable. Khushi and Payal are educated and modern individuals who were brought up in a traditional middle-class environment. Nani belongs to an old Rajasthani royalty that no longer exists and Arnav has immediate paternal roots in an old Nawaabi family from Lucknow. Arnav and Khushi's encounters will be less toxic and more filled with fun near hostilic yet healthy romantic tension as compared to the show and Shyam's charachter will not be a villian. Basically my vision is to retain all the essential canon events from the show and adding more compelling and favourable twists & turns to the story. Sort of like a remake but make it way less toxic, way more wholesome, way more sexy/romantic, more progressive and a more nuanced charachter growth. Bit of a 2.0 version of the original show, in some ways.
Anyone who hasn't watched the show won't have any problem following the plot/significance of the canon events and will be bound to fall in love with the crazy enemies to lovers chemistry that us fans of the show know and LOVE about Arnav and Khushi's romance. Hope yall have as good a time reading it as I know I will have writing it. Enjoy:)

IPKKND SS: Madaari
Madaari - Puppeteer. Trickster. Magician. Conjurer. A street performer who entertains the public by training (torturing) animals to dance.

#Chapter 1
When Shyam Manohar Jha had walked into her life, his kindness was beyond any she had ever faced. Strength, courage, wit and decency. These were the pillars of his character.
She was going to marry the man who saved her and perhaps stepped into the role of her provider long before any relationship was formalized between them. Any woman would be blessed to be engaged to the man whose personality bore striking resemblance to his namesake God.
Except Khushi was far from happy. Everything was right,  but it was not.
“Jalebi?” Shyam asked, breaking Khushi’s chain of thoughts as he passed her a plate of sweets from a sweetshop on their walk back to Buaji’s house. His gifted bracelet and engagement ring sat heavy on her hand. Could she have developed an allergy to metal? When Rahul had put bangles on Anjali’s hands in her favorite movie, butterflies had blossomed in a young Khushi Kumari Gupta’s stomach.
Yet Khushi did not feel any butterfly, except dread, settle in the pit of her stomach as their wedding approached.
But she did feel it once, when her anklet was returned, but her heart was not.
“Ah!” Khushi shrieked, the hot syrup of the store bought jalebi burning her mouth. Shyam rushed to bring her a bottle of water. Oh, this burn was nothing compared to her wounds from Diwali. Khushi threw away the jalebi, the fake food coloring staining her hands, the chemical sweetner leaving a bitter aftertaste in her mouth.
If her father was not paralyzed, he would have a fit over people selling cheaply made sweets by presenting it as authentic Lucknowi jalebis in Delhi!
Even the ‘a’ of authenticity was not there in this terrible jalebi! How someone could pull wool over anyone else’s eyes was always beyond Khushi.
“Here,” Shyam passed her the bottle of water, a sweet smile plastered on his face. Except this time his smile reminded her of chemical sweetners, his gaze just drifting to the skin between her dupatta and the neckline of her kurti.
Shyam checked himself, offering his hand to walk the rest of the way back to Buaji’s.
Khushi kept her hands to herself.
— — — — —
Instinct must never be forgotten. Questioned, yes, challenged, yes, but forgotten? Never. Khushi never revealed her doubts to any of her family members - how did Shyamji know that Akash and Payal were engaged even before anyone had told anything to Shyam? Why was he suddenly so hostile against the Raizadas? He was a stranger to them, was he not? He vowed to dissolve the talks of marriage between them, then how were they in a situation where the marriage was being rushed, instead? Did she actually hear Shyamji’s voice on Khushi’s chat with Anjali?
“Hey Devi Maiyya,” Khushi whispered to her angel faced Goddess lying on her study desk, “guide me.”
And she did.
Clues fell across Khushi’s face like an unexpected shower in Delhi. Suspicion and fear squeezed the breath of out Khushi’s lungs.
She did not pray, nor hope.
She did not know what she was expecting at all.
By the time Khushi reached the terrace to call the ever elusive jija-ji, she reached the conclusion she tried to deny for days. There was no way she, and her family, could’ve been blinded so easily. But her hands shook as she watched the familiar form, the sweet voice and common laugh. With a soft turn in the blinding sun, the truth couldn’t have been more stark.
Her fiancé, was the very married Shyam Manohar Jha.
— — — —
Khushi’s body shook in rage and disbelief. Her mind scrambled to find logic. Who in their right mind would play such a twisted game to go after a nobody despite being married to one of the most wonderful woman from an illustrious family? Her palm still stung from the slap she had delivered moments ago.
Her hand though, felt relieved without the ring and bracelet.
Should she tell the truth to Anjali? What about Payal’s marriage? How dare he deceive her family!
“Watch it!” Khushi stumbled into Arnav and collapsed on the floor. She tried to put together the pieces of his broken cup but her mind could not function. What could she tell him? That her fiancé was a married man? It is his beloved sister’s husband?
Would he trust her?
Had he ever trusted her?
What about his heartbreak?
Arnav had never recovered from becoming an orphan. He would not survive this heartbreak.
Despite a maddening urge to throw herself into his arms and have his strong shoulders lift the burden hers, she left the safety of his embrace and ran as far away as her feet could take her.
— — — — —
How would Payal take the news? What would happen to her impeding marriage? Mami ji would rejoice at the first step to break this alliance! What about Babuji? How would he bear this heartache-
“Khushi ji!” Shyam cried, pulling Khushi away from an oncoming car.
“Please, what if something happened!” Shyam attempted to hug her but Khushi shoved him away, adjusting her dupatta further around her body. He disgusted her.
Shyam’s face crumpled at her reaction, he tried to reach out and hold her hand, but she swiftly turned around and ran down the street.
“Khushi, please listen to me!” Shyam huffed, chasing Khushi. The audacity of that man! But what if his intentions wee further malicious? Just how could Khushi protect her and her family?
“Khushi ji if you don’t stop I’ll kill myself!” Shyam threatened, stepping in the middle of the busy road, waiting for one of the oncoming cars to hit him.
For half a second Khushi wished one car would run over him… but she couldn’t take it anymore.
Shyam never saw the car coming in his direction, because Khushi jumped in and pulled him out of danger.
He did not get to thank her as well as the car pushed its breaks a little too late - throwing Khushi headfirst on the ground.
— — — — —
Shyam waited in anxiety as the doctors checked on Khushi. He had taken Khushi into a private clinic, a couple of kilometers away. As much as he loved her, he could not afford the accident to gain attention nor any of their familiar hospitals recognize Shyam.
Goddamn Arnav and his charities.
There were already too many loose strings.
Shyam stepped by Khushi’s side, watching her pale face in morbid fascination. She looked beautiful even when she was nearly dead. For a moment Shyam was tempted to inject a painless lethal chemical into her saline.
She deserved to die in peace, after all she still loved him enough to save his life at the cost of hers.
And unfortunately, his one and only true love had become a hindrance and distraction in his plans. She knew too much, far too much.
Shyam caressed her cheek and slid his hand to her throat. This was the most difficult decision in his life. She was so delicate, that he knew one strong squeeze would give him the desirable outcome.
His gaze settled on her soft lips.
A parting kiss was in due.
Farewell, my dear, Shyam whispered, leaning down to kiss and choke her to death when her eyes fluttered open. He froze. The doctor too stepped in at the exact moment, forcing Shyam to retreat his hand.
Khushi sat up on the creaky hospital bed. She held her head, wincing at the pain.
“Careful, you’re recovering from a head injury.” The doctor gently warned Khushi, checking her blood pressure before writing prescriptions and handing it to Shyam.
“Doctor sahab, when can I go home?” Khushi whispered, still holding her head in her hands.
“Don’t worry, you can leave today itself but for that,” the doctor turned to Shyam, “please call a family member to sign her discharge papers.”
“Oh he can do it,” Khushi interjected, “he is my fiancé.”

KUSHI and THE RAIZADAS
I was watching the wedding episode where the whole Garima thing got revealed and one thing i loved was even after the whole revelation fiasco, none of the Raizadas (except Manorama) left Kushi’s side. They did questioned Garima but not for once did Nani or Anjali tried blaming Kushi or infact PAYAL.
In fact Nani was there to support Kushi when she had a emotional breakdown on Arnav not being there. NK also shielded Kushi when she wasn’t in her sense and was running away.
Raizada family always treated Kushi as the daughter and it was always evident.

Chapter Five
Read from the beginning
Also on Wattpad
Chapter Four <> Chapter Six
The sky seemed particularly beautiful today . The moon was still visible when the sun’s rays began to tinge the darkness.
She heard Hari Prakash’s light snoring and smiled.
He had called the royal physician’s apprentice and Khushi had sworn the young man to secrecy. He had dressed her shoulder. Thankfully, the arrow was not poisonous.Khushi glanced up towards the sky again.
Small mercies, she thought.
Hari Prakash had refused to leave her side and she had been too selfish to refuse his offer of comfort even if she couldn’t confide in him fully.
She felt strangely empty. How can a month lead to such intense emotions for one man?
“We need his daughter dead and you couldn’t bring her body to us in the month you have been there?"
She shuddered.
It was all a trick. A trap to lure her into the enemy’s arms. And hadn’t she been fooled?
A night of sleeplessness had made her realise she wasn’t angry at Arnav. It was her own heart which had betrayed her.
Her days had been filled with dreams of them together, while his would have been wrapped in the calculations to get her to trust him. Her nights had been filled with his scent, his touch. While his would have been filled with the agonising wait till he could plunge the dagger into her heart.
Payal was right. This wasn’t like her. After all, what is love? It was helplessness. You are helpless against what you feel. She ran her hand over the bandage wrapped over her wound. It didn’t hurt as much as the ache the love for him had left.
Khushi stood up on rubbery legs. The portrait shone on her wall. A brilliant painting of her mother Maharani Garima . It was in moments like this when she really wished for ghosts to exist. Her Amma could have haunted her all she liked.
“ I love him, Amma, “ she said simply, staring longingly at the painting.
————
Her feet took her to those same paths again. Her gait steady, her gaze unwavering she led on.
The door to the chamber opened, his beautiful self appeared and Khushi cursed her heart with a resigned smile.
His eyes ran restlessly over her face, almost as if trying to read her mind.
“ May I come in?”
Without saying a word Arnav stepped aside.
The chamber shut with a thud and Khushi turned around to look at the man she had fallen in love with.
He said nothing. He seemed to be waiting for her to break the silence. Or was he waiting for the guards to burst in the room and arrest him?
A sudden movement only stiffened Arnav more, as she pulled her sword out.
Careful steps brought her near enough to him.
Her knees scraped the floor as she suddenly bent.
Her arms stretched with the sword, as if to present it to him.
“Wha-“
“ Kill me Arnav “
….
An incredulous frown appeared on him as beads of sweat trailed his temple.
“ I know why you are here. I am sorry, more for myself than you actually, that I followed you yesterday. I was the one who disrupted your meeting. Forgive me, I was in shock. I have fallen in love with you Arnav. I thought a lot about your betrayal, but I know that to my stupid heart it doesn’t matter. I would rather have you kill me without one more betrayal. I guess I am an idiot but what shall I name this love?”
She took a deep breath, closing her eyes for a moment.
“ Kill me Arnav “
Her determined gaze met Arnav’s.
He bent forward and took her sword. His face was unreadable.
In the next moment, he tossed her sword onto his bed, grabbed her shivering hand and pulled her to her feet.
He didn’t leave her hand as they left the chamber, passing corridors and courtyards and even as his pace slowed down.
Khushi stared dazed at their linked hands and at him.
He came to a stop and she realised she was looking at doors embossed in gold figurines of her kingdom’s symbols.

She turned towards Arnav. His eyes blazed as he looked at her while they stood in front of Maharaj Shashidhar’s chamber.

I'm at the diwali track rn in my rewatch.. I just want to hold and shake buaji so bad lol. She represents innumerable Indian elders who turn a blind eye to the actual situation going on and do/say stuff to get what THEY want.
Shashi wasn't chintit reg. his daughter's weddings since he walked into Laxmi Nagar, even if he found a good match, he was broke to make the weddings happen. It was the family's finances he was worried about. Him lacking the health and strength to head the family was his primary concern. And he was proud Khushi stood up for them in a time of need.
And he continuosly shot down his Jiji's attempt to shove Shyam down the family's throats. He said Khushi wasn't old enough, Payal would get married first, Shyam's affection could be fake. He got really upset when the ladies went ahead and got the Kundalis matched without his knowledge.
But what did Buaji conclude from the "Shya.. Shyaa" from her bedridden brother? Not that he might be trying to thank Shyam for "saving" his life. Or that he want him to help with speaking to the hospital staff. Or that he wanted a Sharbat. Nope. She concluded her brother would go against all he said the past few days and green lit the match.
Okay the scorpion-smoocher planted in their minds that the wedding was what Shashi was hinting at. But none of the others were jumping at that prospect right now.
I'm not even mad at her when she brought up Khushi's adoption. She grew close her bhateeji very recently and she doesn't think like Shashi, Garima(yes Garima) and Payal who do not see Khushi as anything but family. She asks Khushi to repay for the good deed her brother had done.. and I just see a (wannabe) good sister(since people get married to please their parents 😒)
Let me take a step back or else I'll sound like a woman hater. You see, Madhumati has a strong personality and she must have lost her husband (and the chance at having kids and a family of her own) at a very young age. She liked Khushi and saw herself in the young girl. And protecting her from the world seemed only possible by marrying her off to a very available and local guy.
But one could say the same for Garima too. She has seen worse actually. She had fallen in love with a guy, possibly in a very similar way how Shyam had weasled into Khushi's life. Got cheated on. Possibly had no support from her parents. Lost her Jiji and Jijaji. Had to marry an older guy to get a roof over her head with a daughter and had Khushi to take responsibility of. She could have pushed Khushi to her perceived safety net of a marriage. But she didn't.
Conclusion : Buaji has control issues and she wanted to have a say in some significant decision so one day she could be like, see that perfect couple together? I hitched them up. And I grudgingly love this flaw and the fact that her character development is not a steady climb up just like Arnav's.
Rant over.
