Self-expression piece I did. It represents what I feel like, locked away behind bars while I can't touch nature. I incorporated almost all my kintypes in a way, with the grey cat, the blue shading representing deep water, and the blue and yellow flowers for the peacock, along with the ocean for Chinese water dragon. The flowers are also supposed to represent freedom.

Actvities for a peacock:

Put on the flashiest, most brightly coloured, most extravagant outfit you have ever seen

Go to a costume shop and try on some funky costumes

Practice your posture! I feel like peafowl have long straight necks, and display confidence with their bodies, so try to emulate that with your body language

Do crazy makeup

Do even crazier hair

Spend time checking yourself out and practicing self love (or at the very least self neutrality!)

Do a cardio workout (peacocks can run super fast, so try to do that yourself!)

Learn a dance, or make up a dance

Try to emulate peacock vocals (see this for reference)

If you have some friends, spend time and socialize with them

im a cat therian, that was my first type to awaken, i exhibited *many* cat behaviours when i was young and i think it was warrior cats that made me realise it, my cat theriotype is a maine coon

im also a wolf (i reckon), that's the type i realised when i discovered i was a therian, ive had phantom shifts and used to howl as a child, and i used to spend so much time with our family husky like it was my pack mate

disclaimer: i know wolf is common this is not me being a 'fake therian' i have had many shifts with wolf ranging in strength

im a goat therian, i used to headbutt things when i was younger and the front of my skull has hardened because of how much i did it, i sometimes get horn shifts and hoof shifts.

i also sometimes phantom shift random animals with no connection to them (examples including dodo/dinosaur and peacock) and i do get phantom wings but that's something to do with lucifer and i dont generally relate it too much to therianthropy

im raven hearted but thats more just a connection to them, im not gonna list all occurrences here cause thats not really therian related

i just realised as i was making this post that these are the animals i would pretend to be as a child, i used to be a goat, a cat or a wolf. wow.

The art of shapeshifting

I've since a while stopped trying to label my various cameos and flickers, and with life going as usual, I've talked about them less than when I was a high schooler. I much prefer calling myself a roadrunner therian and that's it, more than trying to find a word for every fluctuation of my being, every change in the way my claws superimpose my fingers, every strange reaction. The bird is always there. Maybe it's not always clear what exactly is going on, maybe sometime the roadrunner has spurs, or a peacock crown, or a snake tail sprouting out, but if I squint, it's still roadrunner shaped, so I simply don't change the label, since it always come back to a more proper roadrunner form.

Currently, I'm also a cockatrice. I've got a third eye in the middle of the head, a carbuncle with three overlapping eyelids. I've got rooster hackle, and a shrill dissonant call that freezes the mind of the ones who hear. I've got a breath that kills all that smell it, plants, animals, humans. There's no real thematic reason for me to be a cockatrice right now, really it's quite silly to be sprouting out spurred reptilian wings and sharp talons while walking to an entomology class, perfectly content. It's a nice change of pace however, and I like the feeling of vicious powerfulness that comes with it, without the problems of having to actually manage all that deadly weaponry.

The whole shebang seems to have happened due to my brain somehow interpreting a peer as nonhuman, when he is not, creating a strange territoriality of my draconic side toward what I perceived as unicorn.

Sometimes I can predict when my brain morphs to something else for a while, researching a particular animal tends to do it. I've been a crab spider when I researched them, 8 movement aware eye, a mechanical strangely calm mind, the raptorial arms and the need to lay myself out like a wolftrap. Wish I could provoke them intentionally, I'd be spending my weekends exploring the intricacies of a sea wasp, the complexity of a siphonophore, the strangeness of an hydridae, would make learning my classes much easier. It might be interesting to actively try, create a whole ritual of it, like werewolf witches of the old adorning a pelt. Sadly my choices of cnidarian artefacts are rather limited.

I miss, however, how strong my shift were at my awakening. I don't quite even feel phantom limbs much anymore, just the lack thereof. I can "see" with my mind eye what should be there, but I can't feel it. I can still focus enough to feel the wind in my wings for a few minutes, but no more do I suddenly feel belly scutes of a rat snake along the stairs as I paradoxically walk and crawl up them, no more do I wake up with strange horns, strange crests, strange teeth. It's quite a shame.
