Random Guardians of Ga'Hoole Headcanons I Have That I May Or May Not Have Posted Here Already
Noctus and Marella suspected that Kludd was behind the disappearance of Soren and Eglantine, but they didn't do anything because 1. they were afraid of him and his friends (the Pure Ones) who stopped by whenever they were out hunting, and 2. he was still their son and they loved him and they didn't want to believe he was capable of killing his siblings.
Kludd didn't push Eglantine out of the nest like he did to Soren. A couple of Pure Ones just stopped by one day and took her straight out of the nest. Kludd told his parents and Mrs. Plithiver that she'd fallen and probably been eaten by something.
Kludd killed Noctus and Marella, or at the very least was involved in their deaths. (This might be implied canon, I don't remember.)
The rogue smith, who was also an informant for the Great Tree, who the Band found dying in The Journey, was killed by the Pure Ones because he refused to make weapons for them. (This might also be implied canon.) He was killed before he could get word to the Great Tree about the new evil rising in the owl kingdoms.
Otulissa's parents and aunt were picked off by St. Aggie's forces, who were attempting to kill as many adult owls in the region as they could, in the hopes that when they came for the owlets and eggs the nests would be nearly undefended. Fortunately Luckily for Otulissa, a Ga'Hoole patrol found her first.
Silver and Smutty are brothers.
Eglantine was haunted for the rest of her life by the events of The Shattering; the betrayal of an owl she believed to be her best friend, the lost hope that her parents were alive, her being essentially mind-controlled. She has nightmares.
Bell was haunted for the rest of her life by the events of Exile; her father's exile, the vanity cult, the book burnings, the owl burnings, the Striga - an owl who had once saved her life and who she saw as a trusted mentor - threatening to kill her, the loss of Otulissa's eye. She blames herself for all this, since she brought the Striga to the Great Tree. She also has nightmares.
Sometimes, Bell and Eglantine talk about this.
Between Exile and the War of the Ember, Coryn and Bell had a talk about owls you trust (in her case, a trusted mentor, in his case, his own mother) betraying you.
Eglantine always wanted a mate and owlets of her own (she especially wanted to name owlets after her parents) but she never found the right owl to become mates with. She compensated for this by being the best aunt ever to her nephew and nieces.
Pelli is 401-2.
Soren and Gylfie had nightmares about St. Aggie's for the rest of their lives. To their dying day, the sight of the full moon made them uneasy.

Bell: Ah, so you finally hear the call of adventure, eh?
Bash: No!
Bell: The gadfeather song of the unknown?
Blythe: Of course not! I heard MUM say I have to! She said that since YOU’RE going, we have to go along to keep an eye on you!

Did you see this coming??? Because I did and I wasn't proud of myself at all 😑 Le Me and her terrible habit of creating ocs for games she might never get the chance to play, am I right??? 😅
Btw this is just a prototype... I'm really really unsure over how I want her to look like to be honest, especially when it comes to the colour palette. Not to mention her house... But still, this is my HPMA Oc 🤗❤ and this is her background in short ( not that much short, but still shorter than what I have actually written down 😅 ):
Iola ( pronnounced "Eye"ola - which means "violet dawn" ) Pellimore was born the 20 of June in Chichester ( Sussex ) as the only child of August Pellimore - a muggle stage magician - and Lucasta Pellimore - a Squib disowned by her own parents -, who were both killed during the Second Wizarding War: since both her parents were unable to use magic, she mostly refers to herself as a muggle-born ( despite her mother actually descending from a fallen family of Pureblood wizards ). Because she was still too young to be left alone and no other family member from both the sides was available ( because either dead or in Azkaban ), Iola was entrusted to her godmother, Ruth Caine, a wandering witch who used to be friends with both her parents and is known for working as a fortune teller during muggle's fairs and carnivals. As her legal guardian, under the suggestion of the Department of Magical Education, Aunt Ruth sent her to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizarding: Iola tried at the start to destroy all the letters sent to her as well as to hide her magical abilities, but it was all in vain. The reason behind this "imposed school attendance", was to prevent her from suppressing her own magic to the point of becoming an Obscurus: something that Iola has been indeed doing from the start of the year by willingly failing her classes.
( Sorry for the long post but I have no idea where the "more down below" option is 😔😥 )

wait actually speaking of romance subplots did you find Soren's sudden wife between books weird as hell? It was just like "yeah he rescued her from a fire and taught her to read off screen and now they're married with three kids on the way" and as a kid I was SO upset that we didnt see any of that develop in the actual books?? (which is why I liked Otulissa's several-book-long arc towards romance with one of the monk owls so much, there was on screen DEVELOPMENT hdsfgsdf)
I AGREE!! Not that I disliked Pelli in any way, I just think she and Soren as a relationship deserved SO much better. Pellimore's development was like two lines from "nonexistent" to "protagonist's owl wife" and we saw close to none of that😭
In terms of her as a character/love interest, I actually really enjoyed the fact that as Soren's mate, she wasn't one of his "childhood friends"; she was someone he met along the way, and they formed that bond with each other. I think romantic relationships like that are neat because some people focus on childhood -> partners relatinoships (which is totally fine, I enjoy those too!), but as someone who only found my current partner as a full adult, I just think it's really sweet to remember new people can come into your life. Plus, the whole reciting legends to gain her trust thing was just SO sweet so that being only mentioned but not shown!!! AAAH
BUT YES!! With Otulissa and Cleve, while I do remember it being a little silly and book-romance at times, I definitely think it was better written than Soren and Pellimore because of the sole fact that it was actually written haha!

And this is why exists this messy trash below:
Tumblr media
*Soren&Pellimore are taking flight together, when their four three children plus probably-adult-nephew are looked after by Eglantine, Coryn is getting rest (and donut because of yes) with good part of his family, and three B's are totally delighted because of their parents' skills*
*And also one can't see it without coloring, but it is the silver rain season after the Golden Tree period*

HOW CAN SOREN AND GYLFIE NOT BE A THING YET I'M-!!!!!
When she had sung the song for the first time she had felt that the song was one simply to help her get home, back to the great tree, back to the band, back to Soren.
For Soren, for the Guardians of Ga'Hoole, she would fly to hagsmire and back.
_____
As you can tell, this was before I found out about Pellimore lol

At St. Aggie’s, Soren witnesses the hatching of a young female Barn Owl chick “named” 401-2. He later describes this hatching as the worst thing he ever experienced.
What if 401-2 grew up to be a good moonblinked soldier of St. Aggie’s? And what if one day while out looking in Ambala for eggs to kidnap her patrol was attacked by owls defending their young?
Several owls were killed, and several more escaped. 401-2 was taken prisoner.
Eventually, the owls of Ambala realized that 401-2 had been raised in St. Aggie’s since birth, and, as if that wasn’t enough, also moonblinked. And that was how they realized what the fate of their eggs and owlets would have been.
They kept her from sleeping under the full moon, and eventually, she was unmoonblinked.
They showed her that owls can be good. That there is a life outside St. Aggie’s. They told her stories.
And eventually, she chose a new name for herself, not a number. She was not an owl of St. Aggie’s anymore. She was her own owl.
She was Pellimore.

I don't have anything against making up ocs to pair w canon characters but I just have no interest in reading about it because it makes me think of guardians of ga'hoole second series (things got...very weird and depressing) when good old lasky reintroduced our beloved mc of six books (soren) as married, out of the blue, to a wife with no personality and expecting us to just be okay with our protagonist having kids with some rando who we'd never been introduced to before and who had zero relationship development w him. like I remember her name but that's IT she felt like a slipshod cutout pasted into a real person's life. not that all OCs are poorly written obviously and theres definitely exceptions but I just usually don't have any interest in them thanks to pellimore

nothing on you, man, but from what it looks like on most of the social media I’m seeing, the pro-ship stance is gonna wind up in the “wrong” side of history, with how most of the website’s reacting to it
So, first off, I don't think there's gonna exactly be history books about The Great Fandom Shipping Wars. There ain't really a "history" for this to be on the wrong side of here, unless you're talking about censorship of problematic content in general, in which case...
Second, the problem with "I find this highly immoral, therefore it should be banned" is fine and dandy until you realize you may not be the arbiter of what immorality is. Take, oh, the Guardians of Ga'Hoole series. Which of the following are too immoral to allow people to ship with Soren: Kludd (his brother), Ms. Plithiver (his nest-maid snake), Pellimore (his canon mate)? If you answered anything but "none of them, they're fictional" or "all of them, they're LITERALLY ANIMALS," congratulations, you are a useful tool.
And third, I simply don't believe you. Past behavior is not indicative of future performance, and if I stopped having unpopular opinions just because they're unpopular, I wouldn't be a Pyro main. Or Jewish. But mostly the Pyro main thing.
In conclusion, let snakes fuck owls.

Go to TV Tropes, click random trope 5 times, write something with the last trope you end up with.
Fantasy Gun Control
Glenanne was nicknamed “Birdy” for many reasons. Her chirpy voice, her small light frame or even her knack for birdcalls. But none compared to the owl like vision and accuracy when she looked down her scope.
She clambered onto the roof a block away from her friends, free of her noisy chainmail. Pellimore and Enven were patrolling below. Glenanne steadied her rifle, letting muscle memory move her hands to their familiar spots on the stock.
1
2
3, no 4 men. All of them fugitives from the Justice the small bird was about to deliver. With two clean shots she takes out two right in their legs. Glenanne never went for the head, and only the chest if it was a last resort.
Pellimore and Enven take down the third easily. The forth catches a bullet in his shoulder. Enven turns back and waves in thanks to where Glenanne is perched. When she had her gun in her hands, she was quite in control.
