I rewrote my first fic. So I kind of wrote my second fic I think? After writing that first version I got way more invested in both Quinn and Merula and they have full backstories and much more personality now. So I did a rewrite (did not delete the original though) and I hope both those things come through for anyone who reads.
For anyone interested:

Truth or dare! 🥝 and 🍬
Hello,
Thanks for asking!
🥝 ⇢ do you lie a lot? what's the most recent lie you told?
Tumblr media
But I prefer to keep quiet rather than lie, but I sometimes do what I call "diplomatic lies".
1/ to protect myself. "Yes, I'm fine" to someone who is the last person I want to confide in.
2/Or to protect others: "Everything's going to be fine" to someone I love too much to worry.
3/ Or to gain time: "I'll think about it", which gives the impression that I haven't made up my mind yet, when in fact the decision has been made, I just need to think of the best arguments to justify it. I said it to my son again this morning, so it's probably the most recent.
🍬 ⇢ post an unpopular opinion about a popular fandom character
An unpopular opinion ... I've never understood the players' infatuation with Penny Haywood. The only notable action that made her a little less boring was when she launched Entrancing Enchantments on MC. And it's not very glorious. 🙂

Magic Works https://ift.tt/UDrknsQ by arsamra So, with Charlie's light hand, she'd signed her sentence and gotten herself into a story she wouldn't be able to get out of any time soon. My antipsychotics make me have really weird dreams sometimes- the last two nights have featured Hogwarts Mystery characters, but last nights stood out the most. So I'll try to describe it the best I can.
Warning- you're in for a wild ride.
There is no set up, we simply spawn in this environment.
First, all of this is ice/snow themed. Think the Ice Vault x Celestial Ball from Hogwarts Mystery. We're on a dance floor of some kind. Like the celestial ball, but Ice Vault themed. The camera pans over the dance floor. Penny Haywood's dancing with her snow themed dress. Ben Copper is in the corner. There's various other students filling out the dance floor. Bill Weasley is notably by the refreshment's table. Dressed in actual ball attire this time, instead of his usual button down and khaki pants.
Suddenly we're looking through my eyes. The end of the dance hall starts morphing into a open concept conference room type deal. That goes on to morph into my bathroom. (a half bath in a master bedroom.) While we're in this section, a new in game event has been dropped! It appears in front of everyone, like we are characters in an actual video game and it's popping up on the player's screen. It's a collect stars event! and the prize is a blueberry flavored kang vape oonestick. My sectionleader from my senior year on drumline looks at the event pop-up and comments that that's his favorite flavor. (I don't know if that's true or not).
(All of this is real life context) In my bathroom is my bathroom mirror, which opens up to reveal a little medicine cabinet. inside that medicine cabinet is my "vape graveyard". Aka an old tampon box full of a years worth of dead vapes. Because I know you're not really supposed to just throw them away because they contain batteries. But I also don't really know what to do with them. And yeah everyone else just throws their disposables away, but its conflicting for me. There's also a three tier shelf above my toilet. It's "baker's rack" style with translucent plastic on each shelf rack.
So we're all super confused about this event. Understandably. Because what the hell? After a few minutes of general confusion someone announces that that vape has been recalled due to cancer. So I and Ben go spreading the word, telling people we see- who are either being really confused by or finding ways to win the vape. The event pop-up is now sitting on my bathroom shelf. My section leader is commenting that he doesn't care it's been recalled for cancer and wants to win it anyway, as he's reaching out, trying to snatch it straight out of the event screen.
Cut from that! We're now back on the dance floor. It's a little cold, from being ice themed. Instead of walls there's hills of snow. Behind that is a starry sky with a big, bright full moon! For unknown reasons, we seem rather discouraged.
The camera switches. We are now looking into the situation from a camera. we continue to be to be discouraged. We're in a red velvet dress. It kinda gives Christmas vibes. The neckline is a V-neck. It has sleeves that hit our wrist. The fabric has a V shape cut into it on both sleeves. Both tied off with small, loose bows. Not made of ribbon, but more of a shoestring material, but thinner, and still matching the color of the velvet. That same type of string cinches the dress at our waist with another long, loose bow. The dress still has a loose silhouette, but that adds a little definition. the skirt of the dress hangs loosely at our knees. We're standing by the refreshments table.
Bill see's us being discouraged and approaches us. He's in an indigo velvet suit (velvet was a common theme in everyone's outfits during the "Ice Ball" portions). Paired with a brown belt and brown shoes. (Do indigo and brown really look good together?)
I know everyone imagines colors differently. So when I say indigo, I mean a bit more on the purple side than the blue side. Like an even mix of midnight blue and royal purple.
The light from the stars and moon in the background makes both of our outfits seem to glow. There are words exchanged between us and Bill (indistinguishable dream dialogue) until he asks "Well then can I dance with you?" It seems to be implied that whoever was supposed to, or we thought was going to be there with us was not there, and that is what we were discouraged about.
We accept. And this thing goes full cinematic mode. like 4k rendered 120fps professionally shot type shit. It starts lightly snowing. He takes our hand and pulls us in close, wrapping his other are around our waist. It pauses on this image, perfectly framed in the center of the full moon in the background. It's that pose where the girl is kinda leaning back with the guy's arm supporting her. After this beautiful picture is captured for what feels like about ten seconds, the camera pans out, showing a birds eye view of the dance floor. It has a big, icy snowflake on it, like the door of the Ice Vault. There's still no walls. Just hills of snow and thousands upon thousands of stars.
We begin dancing. Except instead of the "traditional dancing" you'd expect to see at a ball, we're skating. Except instead of iceskating- like you would expect on this icy dance floor in the middle of snowy hills, we're on roller skates (maybe it was because I never learned how to ice skate, but am really good at rollerskating). It's what you'd expect to see from figure skaters, very flowy and smooth movements. We do some spins periodically. The one where you spin under his arm. Where you spin into his arms. All those good, classic moves.
That goes on until we decide it's time for the dance to end yeet off into the hills. (I swear it's the funniest thing how it happened in my head.) Apparently after the dancing we went sledding. But the camera didn't show us that. All it showed was us flying over a hill, one again perfectly framed in the full moon, where we lose hold of the sled and fall. We don't see us land. It's like a Wiley Coyote falling into a canyon where we just fall out of frame. But it's somehow implied via the feeling of the moment that we landed safely, and had a good laugh about it.
And then it's just that beautifully cinematic sequence of the close-ups and the dancing and the falling on repeat until we wake up.
TLDR; At a Ice Vault themed ball there's a collect stars event for a blueberry vape. After it's recalled for cancer we spend the rest of the ball dancing with Bill Weasley until we Wiley Coyote style fall off of our sled into the snow.
(If you liked that- ask me about the dream where I was working with Skye Parkin and Spencer Reid to solve some very unconnected mysteries. Learn a new game called "banana ball" and then later catapult jump onto powerlines? also part of the cast of Friends was there??)
I could make the whole antipsychotic dreams thing a series.

What subjects are some of the other students good at? like Ben is great at Charms. Penny is the same for potions. You mentioned how Ismelda likes History and you had a post about Jae Kim including how great he is at DADA.
There is a pretty big group of students who are good at Care of Magical Creatures: Barnaby Lee, Charlie Weasley, and Liz Tuttle, although they all have a little different approach to this subject. Charlie is obviously focused mostly on dragons, Liz is very concerned about everything involving the creature’s rights, and Barnaby… well, Barnaby simply likes pretty much all the creatures, and so it makes it easier for him to study CoMC.
There are two more students who are said to be good with creatures and therefore good at CoMC, and that’s Chiara Lobosca and Talbott Winger. However, it’s not really their main focus. Chiara is interested in Healing Magic which doesn’t quite correspond to one specific subject, but she really likes Divination, too. Talbott, on the other hand, is another student very good at Charms. Flitwick claimed that Talbott is one of his best students on a couple of occasions. Now, in Talbott’s second side quest, “Flying Solo”, Penny also said that Transfiguration is his favourite, but I’m not sure what to think about it, to be honest. I mean, it’d make sense since he’s an Animagus and he likes McGonagall a lot, but he’s also rarely connected with Transfiguration as a subject. So, I don’t know…He just makes me think more of Charms than Transfiguration, for some reason.
Andre Egwu is very good at Flying, as he’s a Quidditch player, and he often demonstrates various manoeuvres during classes. Badeea Ali is mostly interested in her painting and creativity, but it’s also implied that she’s good at Charms since she actually invents her own spells. Diego Caplan is great at duelling, which includes some elements of Charms and DADA, though I don’t think Diego was ever said to be particularly good in these subjects per se – it’s always about duelling in specific. Tonks and Tulip Karasu are mostly about being mischievous, although Tonks is good at duelling as well, and Tulip seems to have a generally curious mind as a typical Ravenclaw (she appeared pretty gutted when Jae said once that he doesn’t like to study).
Also, I just want to add to Jae that I believe that he’s the type of student who could be good at pretty much any subject, as long as he has the right teacher. When we saw him excel at DADA, it was the year of Rakepick, and she expressed interest in his potential back then. But Jae is pretty damn intelligent in general. For example, there’s a part in History of Magic classes where we’re goofing around and Penny brews a potion at the end of the classroom. Jae sometimes has a line then: “Try another pinch of that. What? I study sometimes”. And I’m sorry, but I don’t think that “studying sometimes” is enough to advise or correct Penny “Potions expert” Haywood from all people. I assume that Jae has to have a very good memory which allows him to remember a lot without studying much. The reason why he’s not good at Potions though is probably because Snape can’t motivate him properly.
Overall, I quite like how Jam City diversified our friends when it comes to their specialisations, though I think it could’ve been done better. And a pretty big part of this problem is that no one’s expertise is really fully unique – except for Penny who has a total monopoly for Potions making. Ben is good at Charms, but when it comes to duelling, we can go to Tonks, Diego, or even Bill Weasley. In other aspects, we can go to Badeea, for example. When it comes to the creatures, we have the whole range of choices (but it’s still Penny who appears in the creatures side quests, smh) etc. Even Ismelda with her History of Magic is not fully unique because this subject is actually primarily Rowan’s thing.
To be fair, pretty much all characters have something unique – it’s simply not always connected to school. But I’m just bothered by Penny’s situation in particular because I believe is partially a reason why she became such an overexposed character. I wish we had someone to take her role sometimes. In fact, this person could be very good at Herbology – because interestingly, we have no real expert here. Like, there’s no hardcore plant guy. And while Penny is focused on the process of Potions making itself, and she’s always eager to try more advanced recipes, the Plant Guy could be into it because of the fascinating properties of plants.
Sorry I digressed a bit by the end, but it’s something I was thinking about in the past, and I was reminded of it now.

Lol there was a question about meeting your LI's family in a date in the new HPHM survey. I don't get how they're gonna do that with Talbott, Merula and Barnaby tho. I mean the last 2 characters parents are in Azkaban, so are we supposed to go on a date to Azkaban with them or something??? Or maybe we'll meet Merula's aunt, and see Cecil again for Barnaby.
And Talbott's parents are dead, so I wouldn't be surprised at all if that date with him ends up being super depressing if they get a mention. It shouldn't be too difficult to see everyone else's families tho, like we've heard about Mr and Mrs Haywood and they sound alright, not much is known about Jae's mum but hopefully she's nice, not much is known about Badeea's parents either, but hopefully they're nice too. I don't really like Chiara's parents all that much based on what we know but who knows, maybe that'll change if/when we actually meet them for ourselves.
Oh okay, so that makes sense. I’ve been hearing about how it might be possible to meet the parents of our friends in the future, but it would stand to reason that they’re going to make that part of the dating story-line. A “meet the parents” kind of quest, as it were. That would be really cute, and kinda funny...but yeah, like you said, a lot of the dating options have parents who wouldn’t work well for this. For Penny, it works fine. (We could even get a Beatrice cameo.) For Jae, I’d love to meet his mother. Andre, Badeea, Chiara? They’d all work just fine - even if, like you, I have issues with Chiara’s parents. Hell, this could be a chance for Jam City to incorporate same-sex couples! Come on guys, everyone knows that making the characters’ parents gay is socially acceptable now. You can do it!
Cecil is the perfect choice for Barnaby, and it kinda makes it so he can work for this quest as well, without having to introduce his parents. (Who wants to see them anyway?) Might be a bit underwhelming for players who’ve finished the Halloween quest and thus already met him, but it can also be interesting if you met your love interest’s parental figure already, and then have to meet them again in the new context of “your child and I are dating.” Like, I’d love to see Ethan Parkin’s reaction to MC dating Skye. That would be something. Anyway, Cecil works for Barnaby, that checks out. An Azkaban visit to meet Merula’s parents can work out too. I don’t really want to meet her aunt. It doesn’t seem like she’s had that great an impact on her life. I’d rather her parents. But I feel like Azkaban would need to be part of the plot then, for that to work. Because no way they’re programming it and leaving it exclusive to the players who choose Merula. There will be an initial visit for whatever reason, and then a return for players who select Merula. Hell, the entire premise of this quest could be some kind of “Parents’ Day” to justify why everyone’s families are showing up.
But Talbott...he is the odd one out, he is the wildcard. His parents are dead, and he has no aunt or uncles that have been mentioned to watch him in their stead. I assume there must be some sort of formal guardian, but not anyone we know a thing about. They’d be an entirely new character with no previous set-up. Which is something Jam City could do. For fun, they could make it a canon character - I’ve been waiting for them to introduce Kingsley Shacklebolt - but it’s just as possible that fans will want to see Talbott’s parents...somehow. Even if it was just re-watching an old Pensieve memory that he keeps. I dunno, I feel like using a Pensieve with someone else can be considered a very personal thing, especially if it’s your own memories that you’re watching. It wouldn’t be out of place for something like this.

‘deed i do [1/4]
read on ao3
wc: 4576
more info about this fic in this tumblr post
———
It hits you, out of nowhere, one Tuesday afternoon in the Hufflepuff Common Room.
You’re minding your own business, reading about how to turn the tiny owl hooting quietly in front of you into a pair of opera glasses, when you catch a rustle of fabric to your right.
Looking up from your secondhand textbook, you bite back a fond grin.
Sitting next to you is your study partner and best friend of five years, Penny Haywood. Your futures were forever intertwined when your paths crossed as tiny little first-years in the main Courtyard. She appreciated your lack of ass-kissing and down-to-earth introvertedness. You were grateful that she didn’t hold Jacob’s actions against you. You two had a lot in common and became fast friends.
You remember the sense of warmth and safety emanating from Penny. Your immediate thought was, “Yep, I’ve just met my best friend.” You could not put your finger on what made you so sure. You still can’t. But if there is one thing you are sure about, it is that Penny Haywood will always be in your life.
At the moment, Penny has a cute little frown on her face. It’s the face she makes when she hits a wall. As a perfectionist and someone with extremely high standards for herself, when she doesn’t grasp a concept right away, it frustrates her.
You know you should be a good friend and console her, but she is so adorable, you find yourself blanking on words for some reason. Your throat feels dry and raspy, so you say nothing and wait for her to speak first.
“I’m taking a break. This is doing my head in.” A sour scowl sits on her lips as she crosses her arms and glares daggers at the textbook in front of her.
Penny was a whiz at Potions and Herbology, but Transfiguration did not come as easily to her. She often joked, “That’s why I keep you around, so I get perfect grades.”
You both knew it wasn’t true. But what was love without a little banter?
Underlining a section in your textbook, you put down your pen, moving closer to Penny and gesturing for her to pick up her wand. “I’ve got you, Pens. Alright, so first we’re going to practice the wand movement. Is it okay if I grab your hand?”
She nodded.
Gently putting your hand over hers, you slowly move her arm and wand. “It’s like a violin bow. You keep your wrist flexible and make small circular movements from the wrist, not the elbow. Two loops, okay?”
If you weren’t so focused on teaching, you might have noticed the dusting of pink on her high cheekbones. But, you don’t catch it. Instead, you steamroll on.
“Next, the spell itself. Operaspecula. O-per-a-spec-u-la. Make sure to accentuate the first and fourth syllables, not the second and fifth. Common mistake.”
You take a moment to demonstrate, mentally crossing your fingers that you get it right. It would be awkward if the teacher flubbed up the demo.
The owl gracefully turns into a handsome pair of opera glasses, then back into an owl. She gives an indignant hoot and flaps her wings to display her discomfort at the situation. You quickly apologize to her and then turn to Penny. “Your turn.”
“Okay. I got this.” Squaring her shoulders, she exhales slowly, then raises her wand. “Operaspecula.”
Nothing happens. Penny’s shoulders slump.
“Try again.”
“But—”
“No, I have faith in you, Pens. Really mean it this time. You got this.”
A brief staredown happens. Both you and Penny are stubborn as hell, so it’s a common occurrence. Thankfully, this time, you win.
“Operaspecula.”
This time, the owl changes into a pair of opera glasses with feet sprouting from the bottom. It’s not a complete Transfiguration, but it’s certainly progress. That’s enough reason to celebrate for the both of you.
Penny nearly knocks you out of your chair with an enthusiastic hug. The warm scents of musk and amber hit your nose. You relax into the embrace and whisper quiet congratulations to your best friend. She tightens her arms around your neck, despite the awkward side position you’re both in.
One thing you learned quickly about Penny Haywood: she is touchy. Hands thrown around necks, hugs, pats on shoulders and heads, and if she’s feeling particularly in high spirits, hip checks. These are all things to expect from the epitome of Hufflepuff. Especially if you choose to be in her inner circle.
It’s not a huge problem, except for the fact that you’re horribly touch-starved from a less-than-stellar family life back home. The steady, non-judgemental contact makes your chest feel warm, every single time. Even after five years of it.
In the beginning, you shied away from the hugs, believing you were undeserving. But after a lengthy conversation about your family history, Penny fiercely set the record straight and made sure to give you as much physical contact as she could. And that is how you find yourself the constant recipient of hugs, back rubs, linked arms, and shoulder squeezes in passing. You’ve never been happier about anything.
When Penny pulls back, she looks back to her usual self. Her frustrated pout is gone, replaced with her usual sunny smile. You’re sad to see it gone, but also happy that she’s not beating herself up anymore.
“I’ve got to go to Runes, but we should pick this up after that. Will you still be here?” Her hands play with the hem of her school robes, adjusting her Prefect badge.
“Should be. I’ve got a DADA essay that I need to start and I’m done with classes for today.” Sighing, you pick up your pen again, closing your Transfiguration textbook and opening up your Defense Against the Dark Arts one instead.
Penny’s face brightens at the news. Her shoulders relax and her hands stop fiddling with the lapels of her robe. “Great! In that case, I’ll see you later. Thanks, Jung. You’re a lifesaver.” She stands from the table, slings her bag on her shoulder, and hugs you from behind. A hug, you expected. What you didn’t expect was a quick kiss on the cheek.
By the time you realize what transpired, Penny is gone in a swish of robes and blonde pigtails. All that’s left in her place is the lingering scent of her rose and sandalwood perfume.
Where did that come from? Sure, Penny’s always used physical contact as a way to show her affection, but she’s never kissed you before.
Your hand reaches up slowly to your cheek. Damn.
Before you can dissect this move, you feel a nip on the middle knuckle of your pointer finger.
Dropping your pen, you swear under your breath and cradle your left hand. Throwing a dirty look at the owl, who is innocently preening her feathers, you smart at the pain. “Okay, okay, I’m taking you back to the Owlery. Yeesh.”
Penny finds you a couple hours later, still in the same spot where she left you. You are surrounded by balled-up sheets of parchment and your hands are covered in ink. As it turns out, describing how hex-deflection works is harder than you thought it would be.
“Oh, what am I going to do with you?”
Her soft voice jerks you out of concentration, causing an ink blot in the middle of your sentence.
“Oh, sorry.”
“S’okay.” You sigh and wave your wand, whispering an undoing spell you learned pretty early on. The insistence to use antiquated technology for writing was laughable. And of course, no pencils; ink is a must. It took a lot of persuasion to convince your professors that a fountain pen would be acceptable. You were hoping for a ballpoint pen, but anything was better than a quill, so you took the win and didn’t push. Suffice it to say, you’re very good at removing ink blots and misspelled words from parchment. “How was class?”
“Interesting, as usual.” Penny’s voice was rife with sarcasm. “More grammar today.”
“That bad, huh?” You reach for her hands, but then think twice as you remember the stains. “Why’re you taking it, then?”
“It’s useful for reading old books, which is where all the interesting Potions recipes are.” She groans, plopping into the chair next to you and laying her head on your shoulder.
“Ah, yes. I should have known.” You want to wrap an arm around her shoulders, but your inky hands stop you again. You stand, jostling her head, and hold up your hands. “I’ll be right back. I’m going to wash my hands.”
Penny, who pouted at the loss of contact, breaks into laughter, wiping away tears. “Come sit back down, you idiot. Tergeo.”
You blink down at your now-spotless hands. “Oh, right. There’s a spell for that.”
The blonde rolls her eyes and pulls you back down into your seat, putting her head back on your shoulder and pulling your arm around her. “What kind of witch are you?”
“One that doesn’t like to depend on magic.”
“Hipster.”
“Lazy-ass.”
You both share a chuckle, looking at all the things strewn on the table in front of you. For the life of you, organization does not seem to be in your vocabulary. No matter how hard you try, chaos always finds its way.
“I know you said you wanted to work on Transfiguration stuff again…but what if we found our friends and went to supper instead?”
“That sounds like a grand idea.” With a wave of her wand, Penny organizes your books and parchment into neat stacks. Happy with her work, she tucks her wand away and loops her arm through yours. “I’m hungry and in no mood to study.”
You find Chiara and Skye in the dorms, Rowan in the Library, and send an owl for Tonks. There is no telling where Tonks is at any given moment. As a matter of fact, you would rather not know. Plausible deniability and all that. They don’t tell, you don’t ask.
The six of you meet up in front of the Great Hall before entering as a group. All six girls take your unofficial designated seats at the Hufflepuff table. Rowan on your left, Penny on your right. Tonks sits across from Penny. Skye’s seat is on Tonks’ left and Chiara sits next to her.
Today’s meal options feature different kinds of sandwiches, steaks, and soups. You have a hankering for soups, so you’re thankful that something is your way for once.
As you dip your roast beef & Pepper Jack sandwich into your chicken noodle soup, you listen to Skye, Tonks, and Penny excitedly catch up about a recent Quidditch match. You share a glance with Rowan and Chiara as they begin to use words and names that even you don’t know. Sure, you might be on the Hufflepuff Quidditch team, but you don’t follow any actual games that happen outside of Hogwarts.
“How were your classes, Row?”
“I almost got trampled by an Abraxan in Magical Creatures. But other than that, it was largely uneventful.” Rowan dryly remarks, then takes a bite from her chicken sandwich.”How about you?”
“The classes are fine, but the homework is really testing my will to live. Especially the DADA assignments. I’ve never been more reluctant to write an essay!”
Rowan knocks her shoulder into yours. “I understand completely. The classes are getting real now… We’re covering topics even I have never heard of in History of Magic.”
“Speaking of which, have you started on that essay due next week?”
“Not yet. I was thinking of working on it tomorrow after Potions in the library.”
“I might just join you.” You sigh darkly, not looking forward to working on yet another essay. Words are hard.
As dinner begins to wind down, Professor Dumbledore stands and makes his way to the center of the raised platform. Amplifying his voice with his wand, he begins to speak.
“Greetings, students and staff. We are rapidly approaching the time of year when we shift our attention to happy matters of the heart.”
A buzz begins among the student body. The Headmaster clears his throat and continues.
“As such, it is my pleasure to announce that Hogwarts will be hosting a special Valentine’s Day Ball this year.”
The Great Hall explodes with chatter. All around, students are asking each other about outfits and food and dates.
Penny sighs dreamily. You can feel her warmth down the entire right side of your body as the blonde leans into you. “A Valentine’s Ball! What could be better? I bet it will be full of blooming flowers, colorful lights, and candy…”
Tonks, on the other hand, has a different idea in mind entirely. “And a killer band we can rock out to, with great music. No way this isn’t the best night of the year!”
“Maybe we’ll even get to bring a date! Ooh, I can’t wait.” Penny clasps her hands to her chest and giggles. For as long as you’ve known her, Penny has had a soft spot for romance and love stories. It’s one of her endearing qualities that you love about her. You resist the urge to kiss her forehead.
Professor Dumbledore wisely waits for the hubbub to die down before he continues. “For more details on the event, let’s hear from the teacher who will be in charge of every detail… Madam Pince.”
The six of you exchange confused looks. Wait, what?
Madam Pince does the same as Professor Dumbledore to amplify her voice. “Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. I promise I’ll approach planning this ball as I do all things at the Library—with the utmost seriousness!”
You don’t remember what she says after that, but with each sentence she says the mood in the room sinks ever lower. Finally, she nods curtly and returns to her seat.
The excited buzz that filled the room quickly turns sour. There is much turbulence among the students. Madam Pince is not known for having fun.
Tonks puts their head in their hands. “Blimey, this ball just went from being a potential blast to a crushing bore!”
“Let’s hope that’s not the case. It’s possible Madam Pince has something fun planned after all.” Always the optimist, Penny is trying very hard to look on the bright side. It’s a valiant effort.
Both Rowan and Chiara are quiet, introverted girls, but even they know that a party should be the opposite of everything Madam Pince stands for. They silently nod in agreement with the more vocal members of the group.
You look for your friends in other houses around the room. Jae is glaring daggers at Madam Pince, Talbott has a very disappointed blank face, Tulip is face-palming, Andre looks like he’s going to cry, and you can almost hear Badeea’s wince. You find Merula at the Slytherin table, her fist shaking as she holds a knife.
Suffice it to say, no one is happy about this new development.
You sigh, picking up your mug of ginger tea. “At least it sounds like Madam Pince is taking this assignment very seriously.”
Tonks throw up their hands. “Too seriously. She said it would be chaste, uncomfortable, and we’d have to follow the rules!”
Penny wacks them lightly on the shoulder, reprimanding gently. “Let’s focus on the positive. There are so many great things about a holiday ball!” She turns to you, laying a hand on your upper arm. “Jung, what are you looking forward to most about the ball?”
You stumble on your words as you feel warmth emanating from Penny’s hand, through your whole body. What was happening with your brain? “Hm? I wasn’t planning on going.”
“Oh, come on, please?” The blonde pleads with her puppy eyes. She knows that you cannot say no to her pitiful blues. You wait a few seconds, but in the end you know you’re a goner.
“Fiiine.”
“Yay!” Penny leans forward and wraps her arms around your middle. “Thank you, thank you! I promise we’ll have a good time. We could all use a really fun night together.”
Skye is much in the same boat as Tonks. It doesn't help that she isn’t the biggest fan of the Librarian. “With Pince in charge, this night could end up being torture for all of us!”
Rowan nudges your arm. “You should do something about this. You’ve beaten much harder opponents in the past.”
“Yes, yes! Pretty, pretty please, Hero? You’re the exact right person for this job!” Penny’s face is back to her pleading pout. The use of her special nickname for you is certainly deliberate. She knows how to slip past your defenses and hit you in the heart with her persuasion.
You won’t lie; you were thinking up ways to trick Pince into relinquishing control. Now, with a very compelling reason sitting to your right, you find yourself speaking before your brain can fully catch up.
“Okay. I’m going to save the Valentine’s Ball from Madam Pince.”
Tonks and Skye raise their goblets and cheer loudly. “Alright, Jung! Three cheers for the Hero of Hogwarts!”
Chiara clinks her mug of tea with yours calmly. “I’m rooting for you, Seojung. You can do this.”
Suddenly, a Gryffindor sixth-year comes up to them. “Penny Haywood… would you go to the dance with me?”
“Oh hell, here we go.” Penny mutters this under her breath so quietly only you hear. She straightens up and smiles her best socialite smile. “Thank you for the offer, but I will have to decline. I hope you can find someone.”
The Gryffindor boy nods. “Cheers.”
You are aware of a burning sensation in the pit of your stomach. It’s hot and strong and totally alien. What is it? Anger? Fear?
Shit.
It’s jealousy.
But wait. Why are you jealous? If anything, you understand why people are so keen to ask Penny out. She is kind, friendly, warm, funny, smart, pretty—
Ah.
Because you want to ask Penny out.
Really, for someone so smart, you can be so dense sometimes. Falling for the popular straight girl? Of course you had to have the quintessential lesbian student experience. It could never happen. But now that you know, you can’t stop thinking about it.
All of the feelings you didn’t quite understand, the strange things you did, they all make sense now. You don’t know when your feelings turned from friendship to something more, but you’re certainly aware of it now.
You tamp down the fire in your gut and return to your sandwich and soup. You have no chance.
Another boy, this time a Ravenclaw, comes up to Penny and asks to be her date to the dance. Again, the offer is rebuffed. By dessert, five other boys have shot their shot. All five walk away without a “yes” from Penny.
You’re relieved. A dark part of you is happy that Penny hasn’t accepted an offer. If you can’t have her, no one can have her. Immediately, you lecture yourself for having such possessive thoughts. Penny is not an object for you to claim, she is your friend. Your best friend, in fact.
“Penne, are you going to accept an offer? What’s the hold up?” Tonks unleashes a disgusting belch. “People are practically lining up to ask you out!”
“I’m not interested in any of them! I don’t even know half of them. If I’m going to take a date to the ball, at the very least I should know who they are.”
Skye pipes up. “They’re just going to keep asking, then, unless you accept or something.”
As Penny opens her mouth to say something else, another Gryffindor comes up to her. “Penny, would you—”
“No. I’m already going with someone else.” This time, Penny snaps in an uncharacteristically curt tone. The Gryffindor nods quickly and practically runs away.
Tonks raises an eyebrow. “Why’d you say that?”
“I don’t know!”
“Well, now you need to say yes to someone.”
“Oh, Merlin…” The blonde starts unbraiding and re-braiding her hair. You put your hand on the small of her back. Her coping mechanism for stress is playing with hair. Usually it’s hers, but sometimes it’s yours.
Penny smiles at you, silently thanking you for the silent support. You smile back. You’re a sucker for Penny Haywood.
A throat clearing to your left makes you look up. It’s another boy, this time a Hufflepuff in your year. You sigh and roll your eyes internally, readying yourself for another suitor throwing himself at Penny.
“Erm, Seojung…” Wait, what? He’s asking you? “Will you go to the Ball with me?”
You’re not as nice as Penny. Laughing, you respond, “Dude, I’m a lesbian. But even if I wasn’t, I still wouldn’t. Fuck off.”
“Right. Sorry. Seeya.” The boy scrampers off.
The six of you sit in silence. Did that really just happen? Then, you all burst into raucous laughter.
“Did he just— No fucking way!” Tonks is pounding the table lightly with their fist in between fits of laughter.
“I could not possibly be more gay. There are very clear signs! What the hell!” This time, you really do roll your eyes.
Even Penny cracks a smile, despite her stress. And frankly, that makes it all worth it.
“Mates, I got it.” Tonks breaks you out of your haze. Immediately, Rowan, Chiara, and Penny cast wary glances at each other. They know much too well how most of Tonks’ ideas turn out.
“Yes?” Rowan takes one for the team and asks the question you’re all scared to ask.
“You two—” The pink-haired witch wags their fingers between you and Penny, “—should pretend to date each other, so people will stop asking you guys to the ball.”
The table falls silent. You scoff at the very notion, but shut up once you look at the other three girls. They aren’t objecting. You can’t believe that Rowan of all people is actually considering this.
“I think it’s an elegant solution.” Chiara pipes up quietly.
Rowan shrugs. “It does make sense. Benefits both parties.”
Skye grins manically. “You two do act like an old married couple anyway. Might as well play it up and use it to your advantage.”
You roll your eyes and turn to Penny, about to say, “Can you believe this nonsense?”, but you find her staring off into space.
“Pens?”
“Would you be okay with it?” She looks at you with imploring eyes. Classic Penny, always looking out for others. “It would be nice to stop having people come up to me, but only if you’re okay with the arrangement. I don’t want to force you.”
“The question is, would you be okay with it? I mean, you’re straight and all.”
Penny snorts. “No I’m not! Jung, how do you not know this?”
“You’re… not?”
“Jung, I’m bi. I told everyone last year!”
You blink. “Was I there?”
This time, all of the other girls respond. “Yes!”
“Oh. Huh. Alright then, I stand corrected. But, still, my other points still stand. Do you really think it’s a good idea?”
The blonde takes both of your hands gently in both of hers. “I am so tired of all the unwanted advances. I’ll make it worth your while. Think about it?” Her bright blue eyes drill into yours.
You sigh and squeeze her hands. “Let me sleep on it.” You glance down at your wristwatch. “Right. Off to Quidditch practice. Come on, Skye.”
Thankfully, the drills keep your mind off of Penny, Penny, Penny. By the end of practice, your limbs are sore and your robes are soaked with sweat. You hit the showers, and only then does the fake-dating scheme come to the forefront of your mind again.
Pretending to date Penny Haywood. Could you compartmentalize your feelings? Could your heart survive this?
You can’t keep this secret to yourself. You need to tell someone.
Thankfully, when you return to the Hufflepuff Common Room, you find just the person you’re looking for.
“Row! Can we take a walk?”
Over the years, you and the bookworm have come up with a set of code phrases. Her eyes instantly snap up from the book she’s reading. She closes the tome with a quiet thud. “Of course.”
Once you’re bundled up in appropriate coats and out walking the border of the grounds, Rowan speaks up. “What’s up, Jung?”
“So you know the fake-dating thing? There’s a problem with the plan.”
“What is it?”
“I may or may not… have actual feelings for Penny.”
Rowan halts in her tracks. “Oh, dear. That is a complication. How long?”
“I just found out at dinner. I realized I was jealous of all the guys asking her out. I wanted to be one of them. And then it all kinda hit me, and all the dots connected.”
The other girl nods. “Honestly, that makes a lot of sense. I did wonder sometimes. So… are you okay with fake-dating Penny with your real feelings?”
“That’s what I’m trying to figure out. I think so. I mean, I know I have no chance. She’s in a different league.”
The bespectacled girl frowns. “No, she’s not. You’re just as popular as she is, you know.”
“What?”
“Oh, yeah. Everyone wants to rub elbows with the great Curse-Breaker and sibling of Jacob Lee. You really don’t know?”
“Guess not. Explains a lot.” You roll your eyes and move on to your other pressing question. “Hey, when did Penny tell us she was bi?”
“Oh, she mentioned that sometime last year during breakfast one day. You probably weren’t awake enough yet.”
You nod. That makes sense. Everyone in your inner circle knows that you are not a morning person in the slightest. They’ve learned not to strike up conversation during breakfast, because you don’t talk.
“Well, that doesn’t change anything. There’s no way she likes me back. She sees me as her best friend, and I would hate to betray that.”
“O…kay. If you say so.” Rowan pushes her glasses by the bridge up her nose. “So, will you do it?”
“Do you think I should?” You fidget with the zipper to your jacket.
“Well, I was less sure than I was earlier, due to this new information, but I do think it would be nice. Like a trial period. Do you really want to be Penny’s girlfriend, and all that. She doesn’t have to know.”
You grin. Rowan has a knack for looking at problems analytically. “Thanks, Row.”
“Anytime, Seojung. Now, let’s get back inside. I’m freezing.”
As you troop back to the Hufflepuff Common Room, you notice your shoulders feel lighter. A good talk with your best friend always helps.
That night, as you turn in for bed, you stare up at the ceiling of your canopy. Tomorrow, you’re going to agree to the fake-dating scheme, for Penny’s sake. You might not be totally sold on the idea, but you have a bad habit of putting other people’s needs before your own.
If it makes Penny happy, then it will all be worth it. Fake-dating Penny Haywood and saving the Ball? Honestly, compared to the Cursed Vaults, it seems like a breeze.
Suddenly, the curtains to your bed open. On the other side stands Rowan in her pajamas, sans glasses. “Scoot over.”
“What?”
“I could hear you thinking from my bed. Scootch.”
You make room for the other girl, who slides in and shuts the curtains again. “Now, goodnight.”
“Night, Row.”

Clouds on the Horizon
Clouds On The Horizon by Honnek
"Wakefield," Snape's cold voice snapped Charlie's attention back to the front of the classroom. Noticing his teacher's change of demeanor -from angry to even angrier- he carefully folded the note closed and placed it safely in his robe's right pocket, "You are late. Why am I not surprised?"
There was a girl standing at the entrance. She was trying way too hard not to pant, it seemed, though the sweat on her forehead and her disheveled hair did little to hide her exhaustion, "It's the first day of school, though..."
Uncaring, Snape turned his back to her, grumbling something he couldn't quite hear, but the girl most certainly did. She clenched her jaw and her face flushed in anger. Without saying another word, the girl walked (more like stomped) towards the only seat left. The one beside him.
He turned to look at her from the corner of his eye. 'That is just great,' Charlie thought, unhumorously, 'A slytherin.'

Background:
Rosemary was born in Madrid during a Christmas trip her family took to see her mother’s side of the family. The Woodward family stayed in Madrid until the new year before returning to their home in west Kent.
She and her family visited Spain mostly every summer until Jacob went missing, and Cristina would go alone to Spain while Rosemary stayed with her father.
Jacob came home for a few weeks after being expelled from Hogwarts, and went missing in the night from their house a fortnight later. Their parents found Rosemary curled up in Jacob’s empty bed the following morning.
Rosemary wasn’t very popular at Hogwarts aside from her friends for her first four years. Always running around the castle looking for Jacob, Rosemary didn’t involve herself much in clubs or sports. Once she found Jacob in her fifth year, she started to loosen up and expand her extracurriculars. She joined the Ancient Runes club with Rowan, the Frog Choir, and started enjoying Quidditch more.
After Rowan died, Rosemary shut down due to grief for the rest of the year, retreating even from her own friends. She was a shadow of herself, mostly just focused on revenge against Rakepick. Rosemary almost left Hogwarts at the end of her sixth year, but Charlie Weasley convinced her to stay just like she had convinced him earlier that year.
Rosemary healed throughout her seventh year, trying to live life the way Rowan would have wanted her two. She still had nightmares and flashbacks to what happened in the Forbidden Forest, but she and her friends helped each other get through it.
After defeating R and avenging Rowan’s death, Jacob had an official hearing with the Ministry and was allowed to keep his wand. He asked Rosemary to start a freelance Curse-Breaking business with him, which she accepted.
Charlie and Rosemary started dating quietly in the last few weeks of seventh year. He was set to take a job in Wales at a Dragon research center in the Welsh mountain side, but something happened suddenly at the end of summer that made him take a job in Romania instead and break things off with Rosemary.
The begins in June of 1993, and Rosemary is two years out of Hogwarts. She travels the world with Jacob and she hasn’t spoken to Charlie for almost two years.

((Previously on “Quest for the Qudditch Cup”...))
[At dinner Carewyn asked her ex-boyfriend and still good friend Andre Egwu to pass along an invitation to his teammate, Erika Rath, to meet her outside the Great Hall for a quick chat. Carewyn had briefly considered trying to visit Rath after the Ravenclaws’ own team practice, but she thought that 1, the Ravenclaws probably would be suspicious that she was spying on them before the match and 2, even if it had been an accident, Carewyn still thought it’d be safer to talk to Rath when she didn’t have a Beater bat in her hand.
After dinner, Carewyn waited by the trophy case. Not long later, Rath approached with her usual stocky, faintly aggressive posture.]
Tumblr media
[Fortunately despite Rath’s clear height advantage and much stronger frame, the small, lady-like Slytherin Prefect stood with a similarly confident straightness in her own shoulders, though much more assertive than actively aggressive.]
Tumblr media
“I’d already thought you wouldn’t hurt Skye on purpose, but we have a witness who confirmed it.”
Rath: “...What’s your point?”
“The Slytherin team wants to extend an olive branch. We’re sorry for what’s happened, and we’d like to put the rumors to rest so we can have a nice, clean game -- as opponents, rather than enemies.”
Tumblr media
[Carewyn was startled.]
“Pardon?”
Rath: “You say the Slytherin team wants to extend an olive branch. I don’t see any ‘Slytherin team’ here -- I just see you.”
[Carewyn’s eyes became a little smaller, but she didn’t react with irritation or anger. Instead she offered a small, dewy smile.]
“Well, for the moment, I’m afraid I am Skye’s stand-in, at least on the pitch.”
[Rath, however, did not look amused.]
Rath: “Seems to me you’re standing in for a lot more than that. Tell me this, Cromwell -- why is that you’re here, rather than Parkin?”
[Carewyn’s smile slid right off her face. Her eyes drifted away, landing on the blue-ribboned trophy case.]
“She’s...not at her best, at the moment.”
[Rath’s eyes narrowed upon Carewyn’s face with an indecipherable expression.]
Rath: “...I seem to recall this is a habit of yours -- interjecting yourself in things that don’t involve you. When Parkin first started those rumors about me in fourth year, you also tried to play peacemaker -- at least before you dropped out of the Slytherin team like a coward.”
[There was a hard edge to Rath’s voice even though her stony expression never shifted.
Carewyn to her credit didn’t rise to the taunt, though she did purse her lips at the accusation of being a coward.]
“(lowly) ...I left the Slytherin team because I didn’t approve of how Skye treated you.”
Rath: “You can drop the ‘noble’ act. I don’t buy it.”
[Carewyn’s gaze shot up from the trophy case in surprise.]
Tumblr media
“I love playing Quidditch -- I always have. But I knew staying while Skye and I were at each other’s throats would tear our team apart. And besides...with everything else going on in my life...I knew I couldn’t give Orion and his team the commitment they deserved.”
I knew I’d let them down, if I stayed...I could never be good enough, for what they deserve -- especially not with the Vaults and R hovering over me...
[Rath’s eyes bore into Carewyn as if she was trying to X-Ray her.]
Tumblr media
“(firmly) I would like to.”
Rath: “Then you should step aside.”
“What?”
Rath: “You took yourself out of this fight years ago when you decided to leave your team, Cromwell. You shouldn’t have been the one to go -- Parkin should have. You should’ve stood your ground. If you’d truly loved Quidditch, the way a real Quidditch player does, you wouldn’t have cared about ‘keeping the peace’ -- you would’ve played anyway. Parkin could’ve used someone to take her down a peg, considering she’s always had everything handed to her on a silver platter. Everyone knew she’d end up playing for the Wigtown Wanderers with her pedigree, even if her team’s record has always been spotty -- and Amari’s done nothing but pacify her for years, all because she’s his Star Player.”
[Carewyn’s eyes narrowed.]
“That’s not why Orion kept Skye on the team. Yes, we Slytherins care about winning, but we also look after our own, Rath. Skye is family to Orion.”
Rath: “Is that also your excuse, for why you’re fighting Skye’s battles for her?”
[Carewyn crossed her arms solemnly.]
“I came here for Orion’s sake. For the sake of my teammates. Regardless of how you feel about me, Rath, I don’t feel any sort of resentment toward you. I'm only here because Orion and the others need me -- that’s why I’m playing, and that’s why I’m representing them now.”
[Rath cocked an eyebrow coolly.]
Rath: “So that’s it. You think that the Slytherins need you.”
[A flicker of coldness ran through Carewyn’s eyes.]
“Yes.”
[Rath gave a low snort.]
Rath: “Look, Cromwell -- the Slytherin team’s done a bang-up job losing the Quidditch Cup every year without you. And I’m sure they’ll function just as well without you next year -- unless you plan to play more than just this one match?”
[Carewyn didn’t answer. Jacob’s regretful face in the Portrait Vault, Rakepick’s smirking face in the Forest, Rowan’s lifeless eyes, and the first meeting of the Circle of Khanna all swirled through her mind.
Rath didn’t seem to mind the silence -- she’d gotten the answer she’d wanted.]
Rath: “Andre’s told me enough about you for me to know you like swooping in to people’s rescue, Cromwell. The Slytherins all call you a ‘Mama Bear’ because you just can’t help coddling everybody else...probably for the same reason you just can’t help chasing after those Cursed Vaults like your brother did. Seems to me that you need the Slytherins a lot more than they need you.”
[In the past, Carewyn would’ve probably felt violated and angry about how much Rath had looked through her. As it stood, it left her feeling vulnerable and lacking in control, two things she never liked. But as the cold silence dragged and Carewyn kept her gaze locked on the floor, she clenched a fist at her side, breathed in and out, and took her time before answering.]
“...You’re not wrong.”
[Her voice was very soft and very icy. Her eyes were in shadow because of her bowed head, but her red lips were very tight.]
“I do like to help where I’m needed. I do like solving people’s problems. I do like working hard for the ones I care about. If I can do it, why shouldn’t I?”
This is not something for me to deny or be ashamed of. I might be a liar and a manipulator and a fake and a fraud...but...
[Bill’s words returned to her yet again.
“...but I know you only lie because of how much you care.”]
I have plenty to be ashamed of...but I am not ashamed of the fact that I want to help more than I hurt.
[When she raised her gaze, Carewyn kept it on the trophy case, her blue eyes boring into the silver Quidditch Cup as she spoke coldly to Rath.]
“...I’m not going to act like Skye hasn’t made mistakes...and I’m not going to say you’re wrong that she should apologize to you -- she should...just as she should’ve apologized for the rumors way before she tried to, the day you hit her with that Bludger. But at the same time, Skye is not playing in the match -- the rest of the Slytherin team is. I am. And we’d like to try to make things right. This is both your and Orion’s last game here at Hogwarts, before you graduate. Wouldn’t you feel better knowing that no matter who wins, there’ll be no bad feelings?”
[Rath crossed her strong arms over her chest. She considered her answer for a moment before speaking.]
Rath: “...Your team is the only one that might have to grapple with ‘bad feelings,’ Cromwell.”
Tumblr media
Rath: “And after how hard we’ve worked...how hard I’ve worked, to earn my spot with the Wanderers...I have no intention of ending that streak.”
[Carewyn was startled.]
“The Wanderers? Wait -- so you -- ?”
Tumblr media
[But Rath had already turned on her heel and walked away, leaving Carewyn alone.]
((OOC: DUN DUN DUN. *seasons this plot with a helluva lot of plot twist spice* 8D
I really like Rath as a character, honestly. I know I wrote her a bit meanly here, but at the same time, I think she’s not entirely wrong, to not think Carewyn should be handling this. It’s kind of why I feel Ismelda also had some reason to be like “Why do you even care?” when MC was put in the middle of the Haywood sisters’ feud and why I thus have written Ismelda as thinking Penny should never have gotten Carewyn to fight her battles for her.))

What Would You Know?- HM drabble
just gonna start writing for my pc because why not? DISCLAIMER: Hogwarts Mystery isn’t owned by me, it’s Jam City, the HP series is JK Rowling’s masterpiece so yeh.
“Heh, you know what Elderwall, I’m starting to think that your brother was just crazy stupid to go into those bloody vaults.” Merula sneered, jabbing her wand into the back of the Hufflepuff’s shoulder. Hannah bit her lower lip in discomfort, her gaze focused on the Transfiguration’s classroom down the hall. Hannah’s feet continued to patter, Merula trailing behind.
“What, cat got your tongue?”
Hannah marched on, her friend Rowan looking concerned as they caught eyes.
“So it is true, he is crazy? I guess so are you, you poor thing. He must of drove your family insane too. I bet your parents are glad he’s gone.”
“Please stop, Merula.” Hannah growled, gritting her teeth. Merula mocked her back, “Please stop Merula! You’re the best witch, please, have mercy!” Rowan glared, which Merula scoffed at and continued. “You Hufflepuffs are so meek, your brother must be so ashamed, oh wait, he’s GONE!” Merula snapped, shoved her victim to the floor. Books Hannah held in her hands clattered to the marble floor. However, Hannah turned up from the floor and pointed her wand at her tormentor. Rage flashed in the yellow and black robed girl’s eyes as Merula stepped back a few feet. Rowan lifted her buddy up, bitter fury meeting Merula’s eyes. Hannah tucked her Hornbeam wand into her robe pocket, clenching her fists. Penny, who witnessed this, rushed over to Hannah’s side. The blonde murmured into Hannah’s ear gently, “Don’t do something you’ll regret, Hannah. “ as she placed a hand onto the dark haired girl’s shoulder. But something inside Hannah already snapped and shattered like glass.
“What would you know?” Hannah’s voice quakes and tremors with a red face. Her body shook and threatened to burst out at Merula with a blow to the disgusting girl’s face. Merula cupped her ear in response, “You’re too weak, Elderwall, a little louder.” The Slytherin jeered.
“YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT JAKE, HE’S MY BROTHER!”
Hannah hissed, almost loud enough to fill the lengthy corridor.
Rowan winced alongside Penny, who flinched but continued to hold Hannah’s shoulder. The pair of Hufflepuffs decided to usher Hannah in before anything got worse.
Jacob’s disappearance traumatized Hannah greatly, reminding her of her dead parents, her real parents.
Merula was only putting salt in the wound.
Once classes were over, Hannah headed off to her house’s Common Room. By the fireplace, awaited Penny, who perked up at the sight of the other witch. Hannah met Penny’s icy blue eyes and sighed mournfully. Penny smiled sympathetically, motioning Hannah to settle beside her. Hannah sat beside the blonde as a small mug filled with Conjure Cocoa floated their way into her hands. “A family member of Jane’s sent this over from America, I’m quite fond of it. Jane said it was okay to share, don’t worry.” Penny mumbled, sipping from her own cup. The jet haired girl pulled the glass to her lips and drank. The beverage reminded her of home, it filled her cold chest with warmth and pulled her away from the darkness of her mind. After a few sips, Hannah pulled the mug away from her lips, swiping her tongue over her chocolate mustache. A light laugh parted from Hannah’s lips as she smiled. “It is good, Penny, t-thank you.” Hannah whispered, her vocals wavered in the quiet. Penny nodded before resting her head on Hannah’s shoulder, eyes reflecting the crackling fire. Soon Rowan sat beside the two girls, their arm draped over Hannah’s body. Hannah glanced at the dark-skinned Hufflepuff and leaned into their arm.
Jake wasn’t gone, and it still hurt, but she knew it would be okay with her fellow housemates and friends to support her.
The three of them relaxed in front of the hearth and Hannah spoke as the trio drifted off.
“Thank you both.” hums of replies echoed back to her, Rowan burying their face into Hannah’s shoulder and Penny lacing her arm around Hannah’s waist in a side hug.
Hannah finally drifted off, somehow safe.
Note: I headcannoned Rowan as non-binary/genderfluid in this, hope you don’t mind. If you find anything too OOC lemme know.
