Dullsville’s Ferocious Tigress

Angie is an unstoppable force of nature. Third oldest of ICT’s six founding members, strongest person of her weight class in Dullsville, great at basically every sport, and able to slash bone into two with her signature hockey stick. So why bother with It’s Color Theory at all?

Well to put it bluntly, she’s bored and she owes Violet one, so why not?

Angie’s tough as nails and has more than earned her slight egotism, and while she’s not exactly a genius, she’s generally pretty on the ball. She’s plenty energetic on the field, but lazy basically everywhere else and seems perfectly content with snarking at everyone around her and occasionally pulling pranks. Funny how she’s the most functional of the six.

Fun Facts

Angie’s name is a play on orange.

Angie was the last Primary Character to be created. Originally she was their designated “Sixth Ranger” before being promoted to main character during Rough Sketch and starting off as one in It’s Color Theory.

Angie, along with J. bares the least resemblance to her initial design. Ironically, she’s the one most unchanged in personality.

Angie is the only Primary Character not to be visually based on a preexisting character, aside from a facial resemblance to Krillin from Dragon Ball.

Angie’s fang was added on to her design during the RS era. She maintains it in ICT.

Angie, like a few other Drewmans, has a distinct cat motif. In her case, her striped clothes, orange skin, and one fang are all reminiscent of a tiger.

Angie’s surname is based on OJ, or orange juice, as well as sounding stereotypically Irish.

Angie’s human form is not the only redhead in Season One’s cast, but she is the only ginger.

Angie’s eyes, despite how they are drawn, still appear illuminated (albeit orange) in the dark.

Angie (orange) incidentally resembles a cross between Rudy (red) and Gordon (yellow). Her distinctive eyes combine Rudy’s round ones and Gordon’s beads, her curly hair resembles Gordon’s texture and Rudy’s volume, and she’s roughly between the two in height and build.

Angie’s hair color in human form is the exact same as her Drewman skin tone. With the obvious exception of Coco (and for some reason, this doesn’t apply to Noah), she is the only character in the main cast with this distinction.

Angie maintains a violent fear of spiders from RS.

Angie tends to notice things that about the cartoon world that even Violet takes for granted. For example, they agree that it’s weird that they have four-fingered hands…but why acknowledge it? There’s nothing else to compare them too. It’s still a mystery, oooooooooo…..

Might as well share my art prize from @shamylicious-blog's raffle a while back featuring one of the oldest ships I know and appreciate in her semi-realistic style: Charles "Charlie" Brown & Patricia "Peppermint Patty" Reichardt from the Peanuts comic/multi-media brand. I'm a bit sad that their medium wouldn't allow them to be an canonical couple (or at least give it a chance), but hey, that's why fan works exist.

Peppermint Patty

*Full name is Patricia Elizabeth Reichardt

*Been a tomboy since she could remember

*Prefers sandals because she doesn't have to worry about losing socks

*Very laid back and go-with-the-flow

*Main passion is playing sports, it's something she and her dad love to do together

*She's a bit taller than the average girl

*When it's her turn with the braincell, it's mostly in the fields of athletics and sports

*Has scars all over her arms and legs

*Loves to do races with Franklin and Marcie

*She also enjoys music from time to time

*Mostly 80s and anything disco

*But she does have tapes of classical music for when she practices for ice skating

*She loves gymnastics and does them regularly

Marcie

*Marcie is a nickname, short for Marceline

*She loves nature and does a lot of studying on fauna and flora in the neighborhood

*Probably interrupted a baseball game to show everyone a bunny or a bird or even "a papillion"

*Tries to follow routines to keep organized but usually finds herself caught up with a good American classic and ends up reading it until she falls asleep

*Used to wear ribbons in her hair but decided to ditch ribbons when she began school (to make a good first impression)

*Do not let her in the kitchen, I repeat, DO NOT LET HER IN THE KITCHEN

*She's a child of tiger parents and it drives her crazy

*She can play the electric organ and violin, as well as dance

Franklin

*Franklin Armstrong is the "third wheel" of the group

*He loves sports just like Peppermint Patty but he also loves to study, just like Marcie

*He and his grandpa are very close and the former idolizes his grandpa

*He loves a good race with Peppermint Patty

*Owns a lot of outfits in blue, green, orange and red

*He can rap and breakdance and taught the girls some of his best moves...that ended with a few bruises and concussions...and plenty of facepalming

*He enjoys Snoopy's company and even gives Snoopy interesting facts on WWI for Flying Ace fantasies

*Franklin loves to be involved with everything. Assisting in talent shows, winter festivals, announcing special events. He's sometimes called the Town Crier

*He loves kicking a football around and he and Charlie Brown will invite the girls to play a few rounds

*Once, during one of these games, Franklin tended to Marcie after she twisted her ankle

*So Peppermint Patty thinks that Franklin has a crush on Marcie

Angie’s eyes are based directly on those of Krillin, but I don’t have that kind of space.

Development

Angie was the last of the Primary Six to be designed, even if she still predates the vast majority of the cast. Her second design deviated pretty dramatically from her other designs’ characterization, but her rascally streak remained from then on and the design itself was recycled for Geneva. Note the lack of a fang.

Season Two of the Rough Sketch era marked the debut of Angie’s fang. For a while I struggled with drawing her face, alternating between leading the outline of her jaw into her eye or omitting it entirely.

Eventually I settled on the latter, making more room for her mouth to convey emotions. The series proper also makes her more visibly muscular.

oh dang man i’m sorry 😅, idk peanuts characters in highschool

peppermint patty, marcie, and franklin go to a different school in the strip, but i'm hcing they all go to the same high school once theyre older so i can have them all in one place. more convenient.

charlie brown is a very average student. straight Bs and Cs. he is on the football team but does a lot of benchwarming. starts struggling even more with his depression but it leads to him starting meds in college so it turns out ok this is just a rough patch for him

linus still carries his blanket but in some modified form where it's smaller and fits in his hand easier while he's in class. maintains a lot of his old habits actually. he changes the least i think. the ONE thing i will take from dog sees god is that linus is a stoner bc it just fits him but not the way they did it.

lucy is very involved in multiple clubs and such. taking as many AP classes as possible (or whatever the 1960s equivalent of that is). people outside her friend group tend not to like her very much. gets into the occasional fistfight which always draws a crowd. at least two of them are with frieda. she ends up the valedictorian of her class

schroeder is still quiet and doesn't really talk to anyone outside his immediate circle, nor does he feel the need to. gets good grades but also doesn't really aim high since his main focus is getting into a music college. people are always surprised when they realize he's not in the marching band

sally is 2 grades behind the rest of the gang but insists on hanging out with them anyway. she’s 10000% the type to pass notes in class and does so frequently with eudora. she still calls linus her sweet babboo despite not being interested in him anymore. her grades would be terrible if charlie brown didn’t help her with her homework.

peppermint patty is on every sports team the school will allow her to be on. she's always failing at least two classes but some of her teachers will try to work with her cause they see what a talented athlete she is and don't want her transcript to suffer. she's pretty popular by virtue of being a fun person, definitely the most universally-liked out of the gang, but she's still stubborn

marice is in the same camp as schroeder: gets good grades but doesn't aim very high. she's in more honors stuff/clubs than he is though just for the resume bonuses. she's still very deadpan and has not learned an ounce of social grace but gets a boost from being associated with her all-star girlfriend

violet and patty behave like they roll with the "popular" crowd but they are still very much a part of this loser clique (and the peanuts gang IS the weird kid group). they're still inseparable and are generally thought of as a single unit when making plans for get-togethers. until 12th grade they are both ignorant to the fact that they are gay, specifically for each other, and a lot of unnecessary, unconscious pining happens

that's all the main kids i think. charlie brown starts spending more time with both franklin and heather and bonds with both of them a lot. pig pen still goes by pig pen and corrects the teachers when they call his real name on the roll. honestly not a lot changes except for the fact that some of them can drive now and they're generally more self-aware of themselves as human beings (not completely, but theyr'e getting there).
