I feel it is better to have an understanding of Internet marketing so that you are never at the mercy of some programme or system.

Learning how to effectively market on the Internet is a process. There are no tricks or safely guarded secrets. If you are not afraid of a little work and are willing to put forth a consistent effort toward learning it, you can definitely become successful at it. After that, you won't need programmes like the one discussed in this HitsConnect.com Review.

She turned to face the table of top engineers, market strategists, and high-clearance developers.

“Thoughts?” she asked, her tone brisk. “Feedback. Questions. Concerns. Suggestions.”

A silence followed, not out of fear, not exactly, but out of discipline. KQ Inc. didn’t reward enthusiasm. It rewarded precision.

Finally, a market rep near the center offered, “The tone tests well in demos. Emotionally aspirational, but still sterilized enough to fit city guidelines.”

“The language?” Yun asked.

“Romantic but controlled,” another replied. “'Ownership' is implied without being direct. Citizens won’t be alarmed.”

“Excellent,” Yun said with a curt nod. “Then we proceed as planned. Hala City's flagship store opens November 17th. Media campaign rollout begins in three days.”

She paused, her gaze sharpening.

“The special line will not be mentioned until one week after launch. Is that understood?”

A few heads nodded. Only a handful at the table even knew what that “special line” truly entailed. Yn was one of them.

She sat toward the far end of the table, posture poised, eyes tired. Her tablet rested on her lap, screen dimmed, but behind the sleep mode glowed a list of internal reports tagged:

Hala City was the Matriarchy’s masterpiece, a glass-and-steel paradise built after the Fall, when nature reclaimed the earth and humankind rebuilt without the burden of chaos.

The male species was gone — extinct from war, plague, or something worse. The truth was debated in underground circles, but the government insisted: peace was found through elimination.

The Supreme Matrons ruled with quiet efficiency. Reproduction was artificial. Emotional regulation was enforced. Love — in its unpredictable, biological form, was discouraged as outdated.

Children were raised by state guardians. Affection was simulated and scheduled. Bonds were monitored through neural metrics and performance reviews.

In that vacuum, KQ Inc. thrived.

They created companions for the emotionally delicate. Tutors for the socially underdeveloped. Grief simulations for those who had lost what the government refused to acknowledge.

Then she slipped out of her seat, crossed the vast corridor of frosted glass and synthetic sunlight, and pressed her palm to the exit panel. The doors whispered open, exhaling a puff of sterilized air, and she stepped outside into the city.

Outside the glass wall that stretched from floor to ceiling, the city pulsed in clean, geometric order. Silver transport rails carved silently through the skyline. Light panels glowed in a muted spectrum, perfectly synchronized to the day’s emotional calibration code. Every color, every sound, every rhythm was regulated, each calculated to keep citizens at a precise emotional neutrality.

Stability. Efficiency. Harmony.

Those were Hala’s sacred values. Engraved into the entrance of every government building, stitched into every school uniform.

Hala City had no military, no prisons, no religion. The old world’s chaos had been scrubbed from its bones. Instead, there were wellness assessments, emotional correction centers, and State Therapeutic Companions — androids assigned to citizens whose neural scans showed spikes in sentiment, unpredictability, or unresolved grief.

It had been 149 years since The Great Reset, when the last male died and the Matriarchy took hold. Whether extinction was natural or engineered no longer mattered, the Supreme Matrons had rewritten history to begin after.

The world before was called The Collapse Era. Now, the world simply was.

From childhood, every citizen of Hala was raised by assigned maternal figures, rotations of calm, trained nurturers programmed to teach logic, order, and controlled affection.

Love, in the romantic sense, was considered a chemical imbalance. Desire was tolerated only in controlled expressions — within VR therapy suites or government-regulated media.

To crave more was a sign of dysfunction. To want more? Dangerous.

But over time, cracks began to show.

The rise of emotional dependency disorders — the ache for connection that no algorithm could suppress. The quiet epidemic of phantom longing. Citizens reporting dreams they weren’t supposed to have. Feelings they couldn’t place. Names they didn’t know how they knew.

KQ Inc. had the answer: give them what they wanted — but make it safe.

Build-A-Boyfriend™ wasn’t about love. It was about control. A need engineered, then sold. And the citizens of Hala were already lining up.

She turned down a quiet residential corridor — the one lined with mirrored trees and soft sky-glass tiles that absorbed her footsteps. Her apartment block loomed ahead, blinking her ID tag onto the entrance gate.

She glanced once at the skyline before entering — her eyes landing on the KQ Tower far in the distance, its dark silver peak glowing like a god in the clouds.

The door sealed shut behind her with a quiet hiss. Inside, her apartment was as minimal as the rest of Hala — soft lighting, neutral tones, minimalistic furniture, automated temperature preset to her emotional range for the day.

No clutter. No pictures. No history.

Yn set her tablet down on the charging dock near the entry shelf. The screen flickered to life automatically.

I could hardly believe the words that were coming out of his mouth. Sitting in front of me - at the very desk that I called my own - the smug face of the suited young man would hardly look at me while he tapped away at my keyboard, looking through the gym’s accounts and printing off content for his report.

“Who even are you? There must be some mistake here...” I tried to protest as I threw my own kit bag down on the chair.

“I’m from corporate. You would have known if you showed up on time - but instead, your front desk key has recorded that you usually arrive around midday.” He was right, but I didn’t want to admit it. “Metrics and reports don’t lie.”

I slumped into the ‘interview chair’ while he proceeded to give a tedious and gruelling reminder of all company policy - most of which was never adhered to in the first place.

“... lastly, it is quite clear that you’ve slipped from our updated franchisee guidelines which means that the only logical resolution will be a total restart.” I heard as I zoned back in.

“Excuse me?” Before I even had a chance to realize what was being said, the auditor turned the monitor around to face me. The document displayed had the company logo, followed by a strange pulsating pattern on the background that I couldn’t quite place. The smug smile once again hidden behind the screen, he continued hitting the presentation with the space bar as my eyes locked on the content... it all looked.. so familiar, almost like I remember seeing the document before... a long, long time ago...

⪼ The first time you trip during a mission and flatten another fellow Worker Drone she was aiming at, J stops, looks at the corpse, then at you, then at the smoking crater you left behind. “Well,” she mutters, “that’s one way to hit fourth-quarter metrics.” You swear you catch her smirking before she launches back into the sky.

⪼ Every mission briefing includes a special slide titled “Reminder: No Falling Into Acid Pools” with a picture of you stuck halfway in one, panicking. J insists it’s “a teachable asset to promote engagement via shame.” You once caught her showing it to N and V at break time and laughing.

⪼ She’s all bark, all teeth, all eye-rolling fury when you knock over key mission tech again (”this is why we can’t have nice nanite extractors!”), but she still, begrudgingly, always helps you up first. Tail flicking, mumbling about “unproductive delays,” but always steadying your shoulder. Her grip is scalding and fast, like she’s trying not to let it be too gentle.

⪼ Despite how much she complains, J keeps an unofficial tally of how many Worker Drones you accidentally disassemble. It started as a mockery (“Wow, Clutzbot’s hit five this week, go team”), but she’s started adding a tiny star next to the more impressive ones. You once overheard her muttering, “…got the spinal column clean off. Not bad.”

⪼ You once tried to impress her by mimicking her dramatic “wings out, claws deployed” stance. It ended with you tripping over your own feet and taking down a support beam. J stood above the wreckage, visor flickering like she was buffering between absolute rage and murderous amusement. “Effective Drones were cloned. You were probably an accident in a lunch break update.”

⪼ Every time you get a little too close to enemy fire, J calls out over comms in a tone too sharp to be casual. “Try not to get dismembered again, it’s expensive.” You once responded with a thumbs-up. She followed up with, “that wasn’t a joke, toaster grease. We’re low on spare parts and I don’t want to use mine.”

Now go log the kill reports.” You keep the pen like a religious relic. She knows. She never mentions it but next time, she tosses you a matching clipboard. “For aesthetics,” she says flatly, yet her wings twitch.

⪼ Once, while you were unconscious from falling face-first into a fuel pipe (you really thought you could jump it), she stood over you silently for a long time. When you woke, visor glitching and core aching, she was already gone, but someone had left a sticky note on your chest: “Get up. We’ve got quota to hit. -Your less useless superior.” It smelled faintly of her nanite acid. You kept it.

He was standing near the edge of the training field, arms folded, half-listening to Soap and Ghost bicker over a faulty sim round. The sun was high. Heat clung to the concrete. Standard chaos on base.

And then she walked into view—sharp-eyed, tightly wound, her stance reading like someone who knew how to follow orders but hated doing it. Her file would say discipline, structure, performance metrics. But her mouth said otherwise.

That mouth—God, it curved too easily.

She caught his eye.

Held it.

Smiled.

And just like that, he forgot whatever Ghost had just said.

It wasn’t like the others.

It wasn’t the stiff respect of a subordinate.

It wasn’t the flirtation he usually shut down cold.

It was recognition. Familiarity without history. Like she saw him—not just the rank, not the legend, not the weight of all his years—but him.

And then she was gone.

Turning to speak to Gaz, laughing at something stupid. Probably a joke. Something light and forgettable.

But her laugh chased him for the rest of the day.

He told himself it was nothing.

A flicker of interest in a sea of rotating faces.

But he felt it.

All damn day.

During debrief, during comm checks, during sparring evaluations—her voice echoed. Her name stayed on his tongue like a habit he hadn’t formed yet.

That smile sank in like a blade beneath his ribs.

He didn’t sleep that night.

Every time he closed his eyes, he saw it again. That smile. That impossible warmth. And it made something in his chest feel unstable.

Like he’d swallowed something live.

another crack headcanon since @yellowwwcrayon asked: personal phones weren’t banned on the island to protect the secrecy of the games. they were banned because within twenty-four hours, Grindr broke the chain of command.

guards logged in expecting boredom. instead, they were hit with “0 feet away” from every direction. dormitory. the elevator. the incinerator hallway. it wasn’t even subtle—bios were mask-coded:

— “🔺 looking for someone to follow orders ;)”

— “🔴 will ruin your routine. down for late night missions”

— “◼️ into silence, power exchange, and uniform discipline”

it started small. glances during briefings. casual touches that lingered a second too long at the weapons rack. anonymous notes passed in food trays: “meet me in the marbles room. don’t be late.”

then came the hookup culture.

guards started vanishing mid-shift. patrol routes abandoned. guards leaving their posts for thirty minutes at a time and returning with their masks on backwards and someone else’s belt. surveillance “malfunctions” started hitting the same hallway every night. everyone started calling it the wet zone even in formal reports. it reeked of sweat and something uglier. no one was assigned to clean it anymore. they all knew why.

sometimes multiple guards would return at once—three, four, once six. boots on the wrong feet. cum-stained jumpsuits dumped in the laundry with no shame. a juvenile square tried to log an incident report after walking in on the six masked figures mid-act, but ended up blacking out the details because there was no way to describe what he’d walked in on without saying group scene.

another guard was caught jerking off in the storage bay, watching playback from a ‘deleted’ feed. he tried to claim he was checking for “unauthorised movement.” technically, he wasn’t lying.

a square sexted his supervisor by mistake and ended up with a “disciplinary review” that lasted four hours and mysteriously improved his performance metrics.

even worse, a triangle stopped showing up to the organ room entirely after accidentally sending a voice message—intended for a bunkmate—to the masked officer instead. it was forty-three seconds of wet breath, and cockslap. the caption read: “miss this?”

the final straw came when someone accidentally matched with the frontman and sent [ u hosting? ;) ]

he replied four minutes later: “i always am.”

by next morning, all personal devices were banned by decree.

In days of yore, the infamous zillo beasts roamed their homeworld of Malastare, slaughtering the native Dugs and attacking any other beings that dared to cross their path. Long considered to be untamable, the zillo beast lived alone, interacting among its species only long enough to breed before returning to its solitary existence. The creatures sustained themselves on electric energy; they attached themselves to a power source and drew strength from its current. Once connected to a source, the beasts would power up, regenerating lost or damaged limbs and expanding until they'd reached their full size and strength. An adult zillo beast could measure up to ninety-seven meters in height and weigh up to sixty-thousand metric tons.

These beasts boasted a nearly indestructible hide, with armored plates that proved impenetrable by blaster fire, explosions, and, as rumor had it, lightsabers. Gaps in armor, however, could be pierced, leaving the creatures vulnerable to attack at close proximity. The creatures were highly mobile, scurrying across their environment on four legs while maneuvering their eight-spiked tail, for both balance and defense. Adult zillos grew an additional arm atop their backs that boasted the same grasping fingers and sharp claws as their other appendages. The creatures' glowing green eyes were capable of night vision, and their talons and teeth could easily slice through metal.

Among the reptile's more curious traits was its ability to perform facial recognitions, an anomaly evidenced by holorecords of one such beast tracking Supreme Chancellor Palpatine across Coruscant in an effort to slaughter him. Although the Dugs believed the species to be extinct prior to the Battle of Malastare, an electric proton bomb awoke the last recorded member of the species in 21 BBY. Since that time, there have been very few reported zillo beast sightings. However, rumors are ripe of a cloned sillo having been discovered on the planet of Silla, and taken to an Imperial stronghold on Tantiss. It is said to have escaped, although its precise whereabouts remain unknown.

Claire Murray, a scientist at the Space Telescope Science Institute, and her colleague Manuel Sanchez, a cloud engineer, share how this space, known as the Roman Research Nexus, builds on previous missions�� online platforms:

Claire Murray: Roman has an extremely wide field of view and a fast survey speed. Those two facts mean the data volume is going to be orders of magnitude larger than what we're used to. We will enable users to interact with this gigantic dataset in the cloud. They will be able to log in to the platform and perform the same types of analysis they would normally do on their local machines.

Manuel Sanchez: The Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) mission’s science platform, known as the Timeseries Integrated Knowledge Engine (TIKE), was our first try at introducing users to this type of workflow on the cloud. With TIKE, we have been learning researchers’ usage patterns. We can track the performance and metrics, which is helping us design the appropriate environment and capabilities for Roman. Our experience with other science platforms also helps us save time from a coding perspective. The code is basically the same for our platforms, but we can customize it as needed.
