A lengthy post cataloging my 60+ vial perfume collection

This is mainly a post for me to keep track of my ever-growing collection of perfume samples and bottles. In the future I’ll probably dedicate a post to each one to give my thoughts and reviews! But all that aside, here’s every perfume I’ve collected so far, with names and descriptions included.

Elenda Caron was smarter than any man in or after the dance. An intelligent and reasonable woman, she was thrust into the role of lady and then regent of storms end, and had to dress seriously to be taken seriously. High necked gowns, natural waists and shapes, puffy/long sleeves, gilded and shining patterns or embroidery that showed off her rank but not overly gaudy. She’s a woman of moderation. Elenda knows how to emulate power and class and she knows how to do it all reasonably. Girlboss I love her

Cassandra was the most ambitious of the sisters, scheming to try and become queen for years. She adored rich velvets and royal colors. Especially Targaryen colors. Her gowns were always full and flowing but with a tight bodice, and every inch was oft covered in fancy lace, patterns, and embroidery. She wasn’t shy or modest about the clothes she wore. And jewelry was her favorite of all. She even had Borros have a special crown made just for her, formed from delicate gold and pearls, which she frequently wore to court. Modesty? Doesn’t know her.

Maris was the cleverest and wittiest, but said to be the “least comely” of them. She thought frivolous, extravagant clothing did not suit her, so she preferred to wear plain shift gowns. Long, flat skirts, simple patterns, and natural shapes, waists, and sleeves. Her tendency for simplicity was half her no nonsense and skeptic personality and half her internalized insecurity. After the war, when she spurned marriage for the silent sisters, probably for some peace of mind for once, she wore their typical rough grey homespun. No longer having to worry about her appearance was a relief

Poor Ellyn is the overlooked sister. One of the only mentions of her is at the maidens day ball, when one of her sisters spread a rumor that she asked Aegon a lewd question. She was probably chasing attention and approval, deciding to emulate the elder Cassandra. She wore pretty velvets too, but in simple shapes and lighter colors due to her young age. She begged her mother to be allowed to wear her hair up like the grown women did, so that she might be noticed for once.

Young Floris was the prettiest, even if she was rather frivolous. She didn’t like the shapeless clothing of the stormlands, nor did she enjoy the stiffness of fashion in kings landing. She enjoyed silks, satins, and gauzes, enjoying the way it followed around and clung to her perfectly. Borros was wrapped around her finger, ordering whatever Myrish laced or Lyseni silks she wanted, making her the standout at court and the envy of all the young women (though she may have been compared to a Essosi concubine more than once). She never grew out of this airy attitude, as ofc she died from Child by Old Man disease when she was like 16

So I've been pondering about how ghost have the ability to sense one another out when close enough, but now I've been thinking of something for the living. Fanon has something like this in a few fics, making it how Danny can tell who the Leaguers are in/out of costume by calling it Death Touched.

I offer: The Stench of Death.

When a person comes close to a deadly encounter, the event becomes a smell is akin to the near experience. Say if someone survived a fire? The smell would be close to burning the materials being burnt and the smoke for example.

Think like food and how you can smell all the things that go into the dish.

The more you get into deadly situations, the more smells you can pick up on as well as getting stronger. Ghosts can sense the Touch of Death on the living, but not the Stench. Danny, who is a Half alive, can. If he focuses hard enough, he can pick up the scent and sniff people out like a bloodhound.

Now take the Justice League and all their branches/allies, organizations who fight to stop bag guys and world-ending events every couple of months...their smell is prominent enough for Danny to easily pick it up.

Now enter one Daniel Nightingale who has left Amity for [reason] and in [Hero's City], trying to keep a low profile because heroes exist now, he's retired now after sorting out the business between the ghostly and living worlds, and wants to have as close to a normal life as he possibly can before taking the throne.

But one day, he stops a known rouge that would've caused some serious harm to the populace if someone didn't stop them, gaining their attention. They try to get information on Danny, but there's nothing out of the ordinary on his file, so they decided to do the next best thing; watch him.

The young man is very guarded and observing his surroundings often, so the idea of him being a new meta struggling to handle his newly awakened powers or a new alien on Earth are possible theories.

The only problem is that, when they get they close, he tends to leave the area and head home. It's like this for a while until they realize they haven't seen him in some time now and find out he packed up his things and moved to another town...a different city a Leaguer call their hometurf, so they notify that hero of Danny's presence and the cycle repeats itself a few times before Danny is getting tracked by multiple Leauge members.

The latest Leaguer is trying to keep an eye on Danny without spooking him until Danny gets the jump on them and calls them by their civilian name while peltong them with hygiene products.

Alkemia Sample Set Review - Curious Oddities

I originally posted this on reddit awhile back but I’m reposting it here because I’m trying to find mutuals and other blogs to follow on here surrounding the indie perfume community :^) So without further ado, here’s my first impression reviews of Alkemia’s Curious Oddities Sample Set. 

Memoriam: "Heirloom roses, memories wrapped in woodsmoke, a scattering of ashes" I wanted to like this so much, but honestly right now it's just this awful, acrid smell like something burning that reminds me of barbeque. I catch whiffs of rose and as it dries down it isn't as intense, but even then, I don't think it's something I'll wear. I might let it rest longer and give it a second chance someday. 3/10

Deus ex Machina: "fire hardened steel, rusted iron, warm motor oil, wet cement, burnt copper wires, and grey amber" Okay, I had no idea what to expect going into this one but I am pleasantly suprised! I'm definitely getting metallic and concrete, and what I'm assuming is the grey amber is tying all together very nicely. This one brings to mind an image of a steampunk laboratory for me. Overall it seems very wearable, and I'll definitely at least use up the sample. 8/10

St. Louis Cemetery: "Spanish Moss, crumbling stone, old cement, red clay brick, and graveyard dirt" In the bottle, this is QUITE chemical smelling, guessing that's the concrete. On the skin the moss takes over and gives it a very green scent with that chemical bite lingering in the background. As it dries it begins to have a much more manageable scent with the dirt starting to come through. Closing my eyes and smelling it I can imagine walking through a cemetery after a rain storm, it captures the smell of wet moss and stone and dirt quite well. It's almost uncanny. Not sure how often I'll wear this but it's so damn unique and well blended that it's a solid 7.5/10 in my book.

Industrial sabotage: "burnt wires, twisted melted steel, shattered machinery, and gunpowder" Another one that I'm not entirely sure what to expect at first. And once again, WOW oh my god. Smelling it in the bottle it's such a surprisingly addicting metallic scent. As it dries down it doesn't change all too much but the gunpowder becomes more prominent as well. I don't know how to describe it in a way that does it justice. Imagine being in a chemistry lab, or outside at a gas station, or in a factory, and there's those scents wafting around that are unmistakably manmade and industrial in nature but also a bit intoxicating in a way that makes you want to keep inhaling. Dare I say... 10/10? I might have to full size this one.

Center of the universe: "Welded metal, gunpowder, burnt almond cookies, ozone, raspberries, rum" Such an odd combination of notes! But somehow works pretty well? I don't know if I really like it but it's definitely fine to smell. I almost feel like I get a whiff of a different note every time I smell this, alternating between those metal and gunpowder notes and those sweet foodie ones. Interestingly it sort of makes me think of being in a bakery or kitchen that's been freshly cleaned with chemicals, surrounded by all the metal utensils and food ingredients. A solid 5/10, I like it but not enough to FS and wouldn't be my go to sample choice either. Also it seems to start smelling like fruit scented cleaning products as it sits longer on my skin.

Supernatural: "Iso-E, ambrox, cruelty free tonkin musk, and intricate spirals of aroma molecules" So I have no experience with any of these notes so I cannot speak to if it smells like one would expect, but I can say that whatever it is, it's realllllly nice. I can't place it at all, and from what I've read about iso-e I guess it's pretty individual skin dependent anyways. I can't decide if this smells like something I've smelled in chemistry class before or at a spice shop or in the woods. There's definitely something sweet about it but not in a food way like with center of the universe. I think it reminds me of pine trees or maybe vanilla. Argh I just wish I could place the smell! I'll go with a 8/10 because it doesn't absolutely knock my socks off but it is incredibly intriguing and I'll probably use up the sample.

i don’t know if you’ve ever smelled it but état libre d’orange has a perfume that my best friend calls my slut cologne it’s called secretions magnifiques and the notes are listed as “blood, sweat, semen, and saliva” and it’s honestly such a fantastic fragrance and i could totally see a1 wearing it it’s this like aldehydic, saline musk it’s delicious
