I hope whoever the justice arcana is in p6 continues the tradition of absolutely fucking me up with their relationship towards the protagonist and their backstory (and maybe also has a dead mom)

you know i would love a persona game were 2 of your party members could start dating, but that would require them to not allow you to bang a woman from the cast and atlus is too weak to do that.

Going back to this dream hypothetical Persona 6 game, gimme an Attendant that just fucking hates the protagonist. Not so much that they'd refuse and actively hinder you but make you sweat and earn your way to maxing their SLink.
Like, they look back at their siblings and the one who left and think to themselves - Man, these humand ain't shit why'd she go out of her way for some chump? That mentality fuels the actually difficult Persona fusions they wanna see.
Go out of your way to schedule a Fusion Forecast with an Alarm to get a Fusion Failure so you can get the stacked Metatron with only passive skills which have a 5% chance to have Victory Cry and Almighty Amp.

They should make persona 6 edgy, I'm talking edgier than people played original p3 up to be, give me bloody persona awakenings and summons, give me raw Shinji "Shut the fuck up" but for the whole game, I don't even care anymore I need it to be a game that when I'm gripping my controller sobbing I pull my hands away and get cut from the barbed wire like PLEASE

Genuinely think that Atlus’ refusal to date persona 5 is the reason why we haven’t gotten anything like a persona 5 arena. If the persona 3 and 4 characters showed up they’d have to give persona 5 a concrete date as they’d have to give everyone birth years and have the 3&4 characters at certain ages that would give away the timeline. It’s part of the reason why I don’t believe that persona 6 will be a crossover type game (although I want to). If they were building up to something then they’d have more crossovers or at least subtle hints to things like the kirijo group.
If we get a persona 5 arena that includes persona 3 and 4 characters in the present day, then I will actually start to believe it. But given that persona 6 is allegedly next year, I doubt that we’ll get it because why would they release a persona 5 game after persona 6.

You know persona did it so right with having a music video from the very beginning of the game like literally turning it on and BAM anime op / dance party right now. So stylish so chic so engaging and immersive every time I load one of those babies up I’m like hell yeah I’m playing PERSONA

outside of the very vocal atlus / persona fanatics, do u think there will be general audience pushback if (or when) persona 6 ends up being the exact same thing 3 4 & 5 were
No, I can't imagine. There's more than enough time separating the numbered releases to inoculate against those reactions, I think. After seven years of P5 even another formulaic main entry will seem novel. The demand is strictly for another hundred hours of regimented juvenile fantasy, only with some surface deviation in theme and character, which they're sure to provide. They have much more to lose by straying from the formula than they stand to gain by innovation. ReFantazio is the perfect case study- appears to replicate the form of Persona in exacting detail, widely positive reception etc. Certainly, at some point, they will run into the same issue that Zelda did, where audiences could no longer bear another modulation of OoT, but the staggered release schedule and paucity of similar experiences on the same scale will probably draw out that process for longer than only three or four titles.
For P6 to really provoke that sort of tired reaction it would have to, I don't know, have another dominant black and red color scheme. That would puncture the illusion, in a way. But it'll be purple or something and so everything will be really, very good. 9.5 from Edge Magazine.

It is crazy to me how there is a specific type of Persona fan that hasn't made peace with the cultural shift brought by Persona 5.
Most of the fan base were brought in with that game. "Persona 5 fans" are most of the fanbase. This has perturbed a certain number of the fanbase who concocted the archetype of the annoying "p5 fan". Olympic level hating. Coping mostly.
I wish I could say I was surprised. I've played every single title from launch (P1 and P2 duology included) and I remember certain members of the fanbase recoiling in horror at the bright aesthetics and upbeat soundtrack of Persona 4. This then became co-morbid with the resentment that Persona 4, in terms of popularity and attention, cast a shadow over Persona 3 (no shade here if p3 is your favorite. This isn't about anyone's subjective opinion, but p4 was milked for a reason).
Some of this resentment towards p4 was just the games finally becoming too distant from SMT for some's liking. Some of this was, and excuse my personal opinion here, some folk's conceptions of whether a narrative is "dark" and "mature" being entirely based a bit too much in aesthetic choices. But if you entered this fandom with p5, you likely wouldn't be aware that this discourse had happened for a long time. Because in terms of casting shadows on the series: Persona 5 is a giant over the villa blotting out the sun.
Persona 5 brought the series to a level of mainstream popularity that it hadn't seen before, and in a big way. The influx of fans that Persona 5 brought was staggering and a number of people in the fandom could NOT cope.
But we are better for it. Without Persona 5, we would not have seen the port of all the previous titles to all these other platforms. As a result, Persona 3 and 4 reached a bigger audience then it ever could on it's own. P5's popularity confirmed the viability of these moves financially for Atlus.
The biggest irony, given my earlier digression about Persona 4 when it launched, is that Persona 3 Reload is not a move that was viable prior to the existence of Persona 5. Thus far in this respect, Persona 3 has benefitted from the influx of new fans the most.
If you have legitimate criticisms of Persona 5, I'm not here to gripe with you. I do as well. But there is a difference between critique and resentment, which is a very different beast altogether. Personally I'm glad because I got to see my favorite series hit new heights, and also my beloved Persona 4 got to find new people to love it.
It will absolutely happen again when Persona 6 comes out. But fundamentally these are the pains that come with something somewhat obscure by comparison becoming mainstream. Though it is annoying.
