Factors Influencing Pricing
Trainer Experience: Trainers with more experience and higher certifications tend to charge more. Their expertise often translates into more effective training sessions.

Unlock Your Potential: Insider Tips from a Personal Fitness Instructor
In the pursuit of a healthier, fitter lifestyle, many individuals turn to personal fitness instructors for guidance and support. These professionals possess a wealth of knowledge and experience that can unlock the true potential within each of us. Whether your goal is to build strength, improve cardiovascular health, or simply maintain a balanced well-being, a skilled personal fitness instructor can be the key to transforming your fitness journey.
Tumblr media
Personalized Approach: Tailoring Your Workout to Your Unique Needs
One of the primary advantages of working with a personal fitness instructor is the personalized approach they bring to the table. Unlike generic workout programs or one-size-fits-all routines, a professional instructor will take the time to understand your unique needs, goals, and physical limitations.
Through an in-depth assessment, your personal fitness instructor will evaluate your current fitness level, identify your strengths and weaknesses, and then develop a customized plan that caters specifically to your requirements. This personalized approach ensures that your workouts are not only challenging but also sustainable, helping you achieve measurable progress and avoid plateaus.
Whether you're striving to build muscle, improve cardiovascular health, enhance flexibility, or simply maintain a healthy lifestyle, a personal fitness instructor will create a comprehensive program that addresses your individual needs and preferences.
Expertise and Continuous Learning
The hallmark of a successful personal fitness instructor is their unwavering commitment to staying at the forefront of the industry. These professionals understand that the world of health and wellness is constantly evolving, with new research, techniques, and trends emerging all the time.
By continuously engaging in ongoing education, certifications, and hands-on training, a personal fitness instructor ensures that they are equipped with the latest and most effective methods to help you achieve your goals. Their extensive knowledge and expertise can be invaluable in navigating the ever-changing landscape of fitness, allowing you to make informed decisions and achieve sustainable results.
Proper Form and Technique: Maximizing Safety and Effectiveness
Proper exercise form and technique are essential for not only achieving optimal results but also minimizing the risk of injury. A personal fitness instructor will provide meticulous guidance and hands-on feedback to ensure that you're performing each exercise correctly, protecting your joints and muscles from strain or damage.
By teaching you the correct form and technique, a personal fitness instructor can help you target the right muscle groups and maximize the effectiveness of your workouts. This attention to detail not only enhances the results you'll see but also helps to prevent long-term issues that can arise from improper technique.
Accountability and Motivation: Staying Committed to Your Goals
One of the biggest challenges in any fitness journey is maintaining motivation and staying accountable to your goals. A personal fitness instructor can be an invaluable partner in this regard, providing the support, encouragement, and accountability you need to stay on track.
Your fitness instructor will work with you to set realistic, measurable goals, and then help you develop a comprehensive plan to achieve them. They'll be there to push you through challenging workouts, celebrate your successes, and provide guidance and motivation when you face roadblocks or plateaus.
Furthermore, having a scheduled appointment with your personal fitness instructor can help you prioritize your fitness routine and stay consistent, even on the days when you may be tempted to skip a workout.
Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation
Injuries can be a significant setback in any fitness journey, disrupting your progress and causing frustration. A personal fitness instructor can play a crucial role in both preventing and rehabilitating injuries.
By assessing your movement patterns, identifying imbalances or weaknesses, and designing a program that addresses these issues, a fitness instructor can help you strengthen the necessary muscle groups and improve your overall mobility and stability. This proactive approach can significantly reduce the risk of injury and ensure that you can continue to work towards your fitness goals safely.
In the event that you do sustain an injury, your personal fitness instructor can collaborate with physical therapists or other healthcare professionals to create a personalized rehabilitation plan. They'll guide you through the recovery process, helping you regain strength, range of motion, and function, while also preventing further injury.
Holistic Wellness: Integrating Mind and Body
Fitness is not just about physical transformation; it's also about nurturing your overall well-being. A skilled personal fitness instructor will take a holistic approach, considering the interconnectedness of your physical, mental, and emotional health.
In addition to designing an effective exercise program, your fitness instructor may incorporate mindfulness practices, stress management techniques, and lifestyle guidance to help you achieve a more balanced and fulfilling lifestyle. This holistic approach can have a profound impact on your energy levels, sleep quality, mental clarity, and overall quality of life.
Conclusion
Partnering with a personal fitness instructor can be a transformative experience, empowering you to unlock your full potential and achieve your health and wellness goals. Through a personalized approach, expertise and continuous learning, proper form and technique, accountability and motivation, injury prevention and rehabilitation, and a holistic focus on your well-being, a personal fitness instructor can help you create a lasting positive impact on your life.
Remember, your fitness journey is unique, and the guidance of a skilled professional can make all the difference. Embrace the opportunity to work with a personal fitness instructor and embark on a path that will not only transform your body but also enrich your overall quality of life.

So just over a year ago, I made a resolution to myself to get better at Fitness, since I was getting older and i knew if i didn't, the Consequences would begin to manifest. One problem? Historically i have always hated working out.
i knew there were two main reasons why: 1. lingering trauma from the usual Fat/Neurodivergent Kid Mistreated In PE Class Experience 2. oh my god it's so so so boring i would rather do anything more entertaining.
So. I'm not an expert, and i'm definitely not a professional fitness instructor, BUT i have genuinely come to not just tolerate but actually enjoy exercise this past year. So if these are any problems you personally have contended with, these strategies May Help.
Tumblr media
One: Remove Barriers
a lot of flavours of neurodivergence struggle with switching between tasks and executive function generally, especially towards something you don't find fun. So first you gotta identify any barriers keeping you from exercising, and removing or mitigating them.
For me, a hurdle i recognised is that if I could not easily access the equipment, I was unlikely to use it. honestly if i couldn't see it i would probably forget it was there. So my first order of business was making a Work Out Zone. I unrolled my yoga mat and gave it a near-permanent place in my room. my weights came out of the closet and placed on a low shelf where i could easily access them, as did my resistance band. now they were always Right there.
I also realised something I detested was the general feeling of sweaty clothes, and in particular, having to change out of them. So Gross. so i started scheduling my work outs for in the the morning after breakfast or right before my nightly showers, aka: when I am changing in and out of my PJs. I'll do my routine (mostly) naked and not have to contend with the extra steps and laundry that sweaty clothes bring.
two: secondary entertainment
Tumblr media
like i said: i found exercise very boring. and while i've gotten better over the past year, and can find it meditative, i still prefer having something else to catch my attention.
i used to like to put on video essays. but then i realised i was so often pausing my work outs because the particular video ended, or the pace got slow, or the topic turned to something dark and depressing out of nowhere and killed the vibe, so then i had to stop to find something else--
No. You need something that will keep you in the zone, and won't knock you out of it. I didn't used to listen to music much, but this year i took advantage of a Spotify subscription my sister gifted me (😔) and started just putting on upbeat rock, hip-hop, and pop mixes. it doesn't need to be my favouirte music ever it just needs to Keep Going.
i do find the loud, rhythmic music is really good for keeping my pace up, but if music doesn't do it for you, you might find audiobooks or autoplaying favourite old tv shows/sitcoms might scratch that itch.
Three: Find Other Motivators
Tumblr media
Or, "if you can't make your own motivation, store bought is fine"
Gameification is really good here. You might be someone who'll benefit from a pedometer or step-counter app. I have a friend who swears by the Switch Ring-Fit, and I've also heard of folks who use games like Just Dance, Zombies, Run! and Beat Saber to rely on the sweet sweet endorphins generated by hitting a high score.
(BUT: do beware the dark side of gameification, which is the risk of demotivation if you don't hit your goals. For example, after doing GREAT on exceeding my step goal for a month, I got hit with COVID. For about a week and a half I was barely moving beyond the kitchen and back. My step counts plummeted, there was no way to edit the record out, and that made it harder to get back into the groove. Be mindful relying too much on gameification!)
Even outside of literal games, there are ways to scratch this itch. I used secondary objectives as a way to encourage me to keep up with my daily walks. Walking my roommate's dog when he was working long days is an obvious one, but we don't always have a furry friend at our disposal. Then I would rely on mini-challenges like, "pick up 10 cool rocks to paint", "fill this bag with wood for the fireplace", "take 10 pretty pictures", or "get to the corner store to get more milk".
And of course, consider team sports! Many folks I've talked to feel having set training/play times with a team that relies on them crucial to keep them on track!
Four: Don't Measure Success By Weight Loss
I know. I know. Easier said than done. It does not help that like 80% of workout resources online are going to mention this. but above all else, you must resist the beast. (and while not as dicey, measuring success by visible muscle gain can fall into a similar trap).
The biggest benefits to exercise are invisible. it improves cardiovascular health, brain function, tissue regeneration, immune system function, lung capacity, energy levels, literally our whole body. no matter what external changes your body does or doesn't go through, you're still going to be benefitting from exercise, and you do not want to get demotivated chasing unrealistic/irrelevant goals.
Instead, to track your progress, focus on questions like these:
How is exercise impacting my mood? Do I feel less stressed or anxious?
Am I sleeping better?
Is my balance improving?
Is my stamina increasing?
Am I becoming more flexible?
Can I lift/carry heavier weights?
Is my breath control improving?
Over the last year, I've seen marked improvements in all of these. My joints don't hurt as much; it's easier for me to to get up and move; I don't get winded as easily; I generally feel more relaxed and cheerful. Those are all amazing outcomes, and I hope that everyone on their own fitness journey can find the same joy there as I have.

 . . . (🍷) ֶָ֢ 𔓘 THE LIGHT OF MY LIFE ; a edgar allen poe drabble. ❞
˗ˏˋ ꒰ 🍷 ꒱ . . . i am gonna be honest. I am realllly embarrassed about this one >.<
˗ˏˋ ꒰ 🍷 ꒱ . . . tw ; fem!reader, ballerina!reader, perfectionist!reader, toxic habits, angst, fluff.
karl whimpered as he shifted closer to poe, hiding his body under the man's coat.
failure is a part of success but humiliation is the obstacle, it wounds one's soul. and it did with you.
you were doing a twirl when your ankle twisted and you fell on the stage in the middle of your performance.
poe worriedly watched as he cursed every deity and God to exist for doing this to you. his hand twitched as he controlled himself from standing up and rushing towards the stage to help you on your feet. he bit the back of his palm as he watched you stand up and blink repeatedly as you continue your performance while keeping up the professional facade.
the way you worked hard lately at nights to get every movement right, the diets you went on . . . it felt as if everything went down the drain and this caused poe's heart to sink.
he continuously tapped his boot on the floor as he saw the tears near the edge of your eyes, the slight twitch of your fingers as you twirled again and the lost look in your eyes as you bowed.
poe immediately stood up with karl in his arms as he rushed out of the hall, he didn't even wait for the other performers to complete their part as frankly, he was here only for you.
he passed by the guard on his way out, bumped into the instructor who directed the entire ballet and gave her a half assed apology as he continued to pass by the long hallways and many rooms, trying to find the number to the one you were given.
opening the door with a panicked harshness, poe found you sitting on the floor with your knees pulled towards your chest as your accessories were thrown right by your feet ; by you in a fit of disappointed wrath.
the sight made his heart clench and he slowly stepped inside, he had closed the door on his way in and kneeled infront of you, just a few steps away and sighed out softly.
"oh honey. it went good -- the mistake wasn't even big --"
"i worked for months to perfect it!" you yell out as you shut his every effort of comforting you for the disappointment you feel towards yourself makes you blinded to the imperfections which makes one human. you look at poe, the sight of his eyebrows furrowed as he softly looked at you made the pent up emotions to come to the surface. your eyes got teary.
poe extended his hand out and you leaned forwards, placing your cheek on his palm as you closed your eyes, sniffling. "i worked so damn hard."
"i know."
"i was confident i would ace it today."
"you did."
"i didn't make any mistakes since the last week . . . so why now?"
"mistakes happen."
"but why me?"
"because i am a bad man. and the universe wants to punish me." poe told as he carassed your cheekbone with his thumb, softly yet sadly staring down at you, "and there is no punishment as painful for me then to see tears in your eyes."
you look at him, speechless by the man who let his fears out bare for you to pick and caress enough to make then less painful and you smiled a bit as you closed your eyes again, "but i think you are a really, really good person."
"and that's all that matters." he whispered as he leaned in to place his forehead against your's. "as long as you think good of me, i don't care about anyone else. no one's opinion matters more then yours honey."
as he completed the small confession, poe dipped his down to peck your cheek and trailed his kisses down till his lips met yours and he left multiple small pecks on your lips.

I know it's not gonna help you at this point, but if you ever have children in your life who are doing ballet in the future:
Ballet SHOULD NOT fuck up your feet. If your feet are getting fucked up, you have poorly fitted ballet shoes. A good instructor should catch this, but some don't care/are incompetent/never met anyone with feet as wide/narrow as yours. Also, a good dance store Will Not Let You Leave The Store with shoes that don't fit. I distinctly remember being in a dance store in my small town ~60 miles from San Francisco and them refusing to sell me B-width shoes because I needed AAA and they didn't have anything under B in-stock. A similar thing happened to a friend who needed DDDDs and they didn't have anything over C-Ds in stock (these are shoe widths). I was pissed as hell at having to drive 60 miles to SF and had to go to dance in socks, but I'm so glad they protected my feet.
Anyway, My grandmother has slightly less fucked up feet than me (I got juvenile bunions from my mom), longer second toe, <A width, and ballet DESTROYED her feet, but mine weren't because of AAA-width shoes and gel toe pads, and pointe shoes designed for longer second toes.
Sorry for the extensive message, but as someone who knows this, I feel it's my duty to tell everyone that future feet don't have to be fucked up by ballet. it's something I feel passionate about.
Well multiple problems with this:
I never plan on having children
This was not always the case and I expect I am a good deal older than you think I am. When I was a kid, finding a store that even sold ballet shoes let alone specifically a dance store required going several towns over and just putting on whatever seemed to work best OR special-ordering off a mailing list and hoping what you got worked out.
I was born a polydactyl, meaning my foot anatomy is shaped to accommodate extra toes. (And my hands for extra fingers). I can bet with near certainty that there is no ballet shoe that exists as-is that would not beat up my feet. Fact of the matter there is no regular shoe out there that doesn't hurt my feet somehow either. I'd almost have to get custom flats and my parents don't have the money for that and never did. I danced at the local rec center, it's not like they were shelling out the big bucks for personalized instruction.
I think you may be talking about pointe shoes- I never went en pointe due to ankle instability I was never able to fix, so I stayed on flats the entire time I danced. Which was from about 4 years old until I was well into my teens.

Dr. Holligay Tries Things That Aren't Running: Cycling
In the most technical sense, I have done cycling before. That it was 8 years ago and once did not seem to even cause me a moment's pause. I have done this before! This is fine, and then I will get my little sticker to help me win my unbelievably stupid kitchen item.
So I walk into the cycling room, and I set up my bike. I don't remember anything about how a bike is supposed to fit, except maybe something vague about the seat hitting at your hip, which I manage to do, and then set up my silly little water bottle, and sit on the bike, waiting.
This place is PACKED. Everyone else is either also trying to win a kitchen item, or whatever other prizes they have that I have completely ignored, or, they have actual goals for their lives that are not about saving 300 bucks at the specialty kitchen store. Most alarmingly, everyone else seems to know what they are doing, while I'm sitting here hoping nobody notices my eyes are wandering desperately about the place.
The lights turn off, replaced by various LED strings in green and purples, as a woman with a pixie haircut* and a bright smile walked into the room and immediately switched the music on. All of a sudden, we are in the club. It is loud and thumping through my chest. I know I complain about noise a lot, and it is very true, but there's something I very much like about music so loud that you can feel it in your body and most importantly, you can't hear anything else. A lot of what annoys me about noise is the crowding of it. Anyway, you don't care about that, but I immediately start warming up a little faster.
So deep was I in this clubbing moment that the instructor, she of the pixie haircut, who I'm going to call Straight Country Lena, which will tell you how the rest of this is going to go, SCARES THE SHIT OUT OF ME by appearing at my side and going, "Chocolate espresso bean?"
I damn near jump off the bike, and she starts laughing. Her smile is huge, and her nose wrinkles when she does it.
"Sorry! I know the music is loud, it's loud because...it's my class and I like it loud." another peal of laughter. "Amanda teaches it quieter, if you like that. Oh! Let me bring up your handlebar, it's too low. Espresso bean? They're chocolate."
All of this has happened over the span of less than 30 seconds and suddenly my handlebar is up, and I gratefully accept an espresso bean. She offers everyone in class a bean, and then goes up to the front and puts on her mic.
"Hi there! In January I try to remember to introduce myself. Letr's do a warmup, yeah, alright, my name's Lena, lots of new faces toiday I love that--parking was awful today, wundnit? God. But you know what?" ANother big smile, "Oh, stretch out your back right now--I was thinkin, I hope every person who's here in January is here in July. So I can share the lot. It's okay if you didn't get your favorite bike. Right, good story Lena, I'm Lena! I teach cycling and early morning group power, I'm a little bit yeehaw, so there's other teachers, I won't take it personally. Let's go!"
Y'ALL.
I am a woman of intense energy. I am reasonably athletic. I have nothing on SCL. She is riding her bike at 100 rpms or better, and every once in a while, she glaces down at her resistance and goes, "Okay, I'm at a 22, so figure yourselves out from there!" while I'm dying at a 13. We're huffing and puffing and she's singing along, and dancing on the bike. She's cheering for individual people who are obviously regulars.
We get into a part of the class that's like, sprints, and she goes, "I went to school on a rodeo scholarship so we're gonna BARREL RACE**" which by the way, is bearing down for a sprint as HARD AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN for a solid 20 seconds, while she--also doing it, by the way-- is telling you to push! that!! pony!! At the edge of every sprint she'd go, top of her lungs, "YEEEEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAWWWWWWW!!" and the regulars would do it right back though I have no idea how.
Some other quotes from her rambling while also doing a huge, athletic workout.
"I have to teach a chunk of classes every morning or my husband'll divorce me" laughter, again, "He says I'm a sheepdog and need too much activity"
"Don't mind me I just keep talking sometimes. Some people have verbal diarrhea but I've got Montezuma's revenge up here"
"Every year I say I'm gonna get ripped and then I remember I have a kid and drink beer."
"Do we all like the music? Tell me what you like and I'll work it into next week. Unless I hate it."
*My personal favorite, after someone asked her if something was dangerous* "Well, you gotta die of something."
And then she capped off our final sprint by running around the room, up and down every row of bikes, ringing a cowbell over her head and occasionally jumping going "last push! last push! Let's do it! Then you can join me for the core class next door after!"
The woman was insane. i loved her. I will not attend cycling again as it is is everything I find hard about running and none of the things I like about it, only also add weight to your legs, and while I'm sure it would be great crosstraining for my legs I also hated this class while being able and willing to join her cult at a moment's notice. I want her in my ear when I run.
But I got my sticker, and I am definitely going to her core class.
*There IS a difference between a men's haircut and a pixie haircut. I am very femme, sure, but I have a men's haircut I can pretty easily style feminine. This woman had a pixie haircut which never looks masculine at all to me.
**The minute she said this, I went, "Oh obviously" she was built exactly like a barrel racer, small, but solid

Tumblr media
how you came to be a pianist, you weren’t sure. your life had pushed every agenda but that of a pianist. while your parents had urged you and your siblings to play musical instruments, they didn’t want you to play the piano.
what they had against the piano, you also weren’t sure. when asked about musicality, you only ever expressed interest in the piano much to their dismay. they refused your ambition without much explanation and forced you to take on the violin instead.
needless to say, your skills in the violin were even worse than that of a two year old playing with two left hands. both your instructor and classmates often advised you to take up a different instrument because of your inability to play.
however, you didn’t have much say in it until your instructor spoke to your parents about your…lack of talent. she mainly blamed it on your hands, the piano hands she called them. your long and slender fingers were more fitted for playing the keys of a piano, not holding the bow of a violin.
it was only then you got your parents' explanation of why they never wanted you to play, the strange stories they had been told about the bad luck of pianists. you had no idea where they got the story from, a young pianist who was exiled after expressing too much musicality to a prince. that seemed like a story only a fairytale could bring, but they insisted on one of your ancestors seeing it while working in the alleged palace.
your parents’ superstitious ways almost cost you your whole career, your whole passion. almost. you managed to convince them eventually with the help of your former violinist classmates, forging stories about the mishaps of violinists to show that every musician had their ups and downs. only then did they hesitantly let you play the piano.
you weren’t sure about a lot of things, but you were sure that it was their hesitant agreement that allowed you to be on stage that night, telling your story and journey after a long night of playing. even if it was their fault you could not play, it was ultimately their blessing that allowed you to start your journey as a pianist.
“it’s a funny story really,” you laughed, “my parents' plans for me as a violinist didn’t work out because you really can’t let anyone else tell you how to live your life.”
and this was the moment where you gave your own advice to the aspiring people in your crowd, advice you accumulated from your own hardships trying to achieve this dream. “
“nothing is impossible. dreams are for you to follow, not for them to stay as dreams. if you love to do something, you should do it, even if there is something holding you back. this is your life, and you get to live it for yourself. this isn’t a life someone else dictates for you. you are your own person. you can make your own decisions. you can follow your dream if you believe you can. i believe you can.”
with a round of applause, it was time for you to get off the stage. your long speech towards the end always seemed to sway the hearts of so many people, inspiring them to follow their own dreams. this time, though, you shook the heart of someone else in that crowd in a way that was not only inspirational.
Tumblr media
you wouldn’t say you were famous. you were simply known enough to have some people lining up near the exit, hoping to catch you for a quick picture or autograph. it wasn’t anything like having paparazzi. no, you weren’t that well-known, and you were glad about that fact. having few people who loved you enough to do this meant you could accommodate each of their requests. you had time to spare, so why not give back to the people who made your career possible in the first place.
you signed things without hesitation: pads of paper, shirts, even someone’s hand. you did whatever it was that would make those people happy. you took pictures doing all sorts of poses to make sure everyone had an original experience with you. you even answered several wacky questions people had the burning desire to ask.
then you got to one particular person, holding out a pad and a pen. this person had a very specific question to ask you, a question normal people usually didn’t ask. they asked more random things about your life: your favorite color, food spots you recommended in the city, if you had ever been to the mountains. people rarely asked about anything regarding pianos as that’s all they saw on stage.
“do you prefer beethoven or mozart?”
you paused at your signature, forgetting momentarily how to even sign your name. the question threw you off guard, but you tried your best to pick yourself back up. something about it just seemed familiar, but you couldn't understand why.
“mozart,” you replied as you continued your signature from where you had stopped. it was probably nothing. the debate of beethoven vs. mozart was so prominent in all classical music enjoyers, so this person was probably just curious about your own preferences.
“...because he’s more fun, right?”
you finished your signature, but your pen didn’t move from the paper. you were frozen again. no one knew about the reason you liked mozart. most people had more legitimate reasons as to why they preferred one composer over the other. for you, however, you just enjoyed the fresher feeling that came from mozart’s pieces. you never wanted to admit that to the regular enjoyers of classical music.
“yeah,” you breathed, looking up from the pad of paper to meet the eyes of the person who asked you the question. it was only then that it all came back to you.
just remember! you love mozart. i love beethoven.
“and…you love beethoven.”
the stranger–well could you even call him that if you remembered all this–smiled at your response. “i found you.”
as much as you wanted to say more to him, there were many more people who demanded your attention, and you wanted to give them their time as well. you looked at him and then turned back to the man. “my car’s the white hyundai. i’ll be out when i finish. we can talk then.”
he gave you a nod before disappearing out of the crowd that soon engulfed you with more requests for pictures, signatures, and answers to other strange questions you had.
Tumblr media
it was never smart to meet a person in the dark, especially if this person wasn’t someone you had ever met before. this was different, though. the moment you looked into his eyes, you knew the history you had together, the history not within this life.
the reason that was possible was another thing you were unsure of. none of that really mattered though. what mattered was that you were able to see him again, after all the mishaps in your previous life (all of which had slowly come back to you throughout the course of the night).
looking around for him, you were startled when he came up behind you. you gasped.
“your highness!” you covered your mouth at the instinctive exclamation. it was strange to be calling him in such a manner, in this society where there was no more monarchy.
he chuckled at your surprised response. “you can call me taerae. there’s no more strict titles you have to adhere to.”
you raised an eyebrow. “you kept your name. that’s kind of strange to hear.”
“as did you,” he commented, “i almost thought it was too good to be true, but when i heard the advice you gave during your closing speech, i knew. i had to make sure that you remembered though, hence the strange question.”
you shook your head. “it wasn’t strange at all. it was what i asked you in our first conversation, so it was very key. you did say for me to remember that you love beethoven and i love mozart, so it stuck.”
“i’m glad. i’ve been to so many recitals of pianists, asking the same question over and over. some answer beethoven, so i knew that couldn’t be you. some answer mozart but then give me judgemental looks when i ask them if it’s because he’s fun.”
you couldn’t hold in your laughter after thinking about all the embarrassment he had to go through to reach you. “well, my reasons for that preference were simple. i was simple-minded then. i just wanted to play music.”
“are you still like that now? both your preference and simple-mindedness,” he wondered.
“well i like to think i play music just for the sake of it and nothing else,” you began, “as for my preference. i will always like mozart, but beethoven has been growing on me lately.”
taerae gave you an intrigued look before you added on. “especially, piano sonata no. 17. i’ve grown to love tempest so much, and i wondered why. now i remember that it was your favorite.”
an approving nod by taerae proved that your memory did not fail you.
feeling the cold air against your skin, a shiver washed over you. “do you have a ride? anywhere to be?”
when he shook his head no, you knew what had to be done. unlocking you car, you pulled the passenger seat open for him. “get in taerae, let’s catch up.”
seeing how his smile grew to be bigger than you had ever seen, you had to know why. “why are you so smiley this evening?”
taerae merely shrugged before entering the car. “you’ve just never called me by my name before. it was always the fancy titles, so it’s really calming to hear.”
you stuck your tongue out at him. “oh shut up.”
and then you slammed the door in his face. it was going to be a long night of catching up, but you were sure the two of you would be connected in no time.
there was one thing you wanted to make sure before you drove off, however.
“do you still play the guitar?”
“always, i’ll play for you again sometime since you’ve played again for me tonight.”

How I achieved being the happiest I’ve ever been during the hardest year I’ve ever been through
I stopped waiting for the weekend to live life
If a friend asks me to go out to grab a drink on a Thursday for happy hour I now say yes. If I want to go to the movies on a Monday I go on a Monday. I began to refuse living a life that waited for the weekend to live.
I stopped feeling guilty for spending money on myself
When I began to make my own money in high school, I would save all of it and not spend any on myself. A lot of this was honestly due to my parents paying for everything, they wanted me to save the money I was making for college and the future. Don’t get me wrong having parents like that was and still is a blessing. At the same time, it led me to associate money with needing to hoard it to be prepared for the next step. I began to recognize and heal those thoughts. I embarked deeper on my self love journey and adopted the mindset of recognizing that I am worth every penny I spend and more, whether that be spending money on experiences, on self care, or for my future self.
I re-started a hobby I loved as a child
When I was younger, I did ballet among a few other activities. I loved all of them but ballet was (and still is) my favorite. For years I wanted to start again but let life get in the way. This year I said enough. I looked up in person classes in my area and found that all of them were way out of my price range but, instead of giving up, I found another way. I found a program that taught lessons online with an instructor. Re-starting ballet truly makes my inner-child so happy.
 I prioritize experiences
This ties into not waiting for the weekend to live life but it deserves it’s own point. I began prioritizing finding ways to live. I look up events in my area and actually attend them. I attend events I find that bring me out of my comfort zone like dance classes in the park, roller skating with a group of people I don’t necessarily know, attending a sunflower festival, etc. I also joined a few social groups that host events and I attend those. I take weekend trips with friends. I take myself on staycations and solo weekend trips. Life really is so much fun when you actually go outside and do things!
I volunteer
I grew up volunteering and I stopped during college. This year I realized how much I missed it. I also knew it would be a great way to meet new people and foster relationships. I’ve always loved being around horses so I knew I wanted to volunteer at a barn. I googled horse barns near me and found one 8 minutes away from my apartment - this barn is a true hidden suburban gem. It’s a therapeutic horse barn for kids with special needs. I volunteer there every Friday and Saturday and am absolutely in love with it. It brings so much to my life. I also volunteer through my church home but more about that in the next point.
I prioritized finding a church home
I grew up in the church as my Dad was an elder there for 15 years. I sort of lost touch with my faith in the past couple of years. This year I renewed my faith and prioritized looking for a church home after putting it off for a year and a half. I googled churches near me and visited one every Sunday until I felt I found the right fit. I found the church I’m at now and I cannot explain to you how life changing it’s been. I joined a community group through the church to meet more Christians my age and those people mean so much to me now. We meet every Tuesday night, we go on runs together, volunteer together, had a Friendsgiving this past year, it’s just been amazing. I’ve grown so much in my faith.
I stopped prioritizing finding love
I am truly a certified lover girl. I have so much pure love to give and craved someone who would give me the same type of love. I tried to find that person most of my life and while I’ve had some great men in my life they never were “the one”. This year I genuinely stopped prioritizing finding my person and started prioritizing myself and my life. It feels like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. I’m now filled with trust that my person will come along when it’s time and until then I’m truly enjoying my season of singleness!
I don’t care what anyone thinks
I’ve genuinely never cared what people think, even when I was younger, which has been a huge blessing. I’ve always marched to the beat of my own drum. I’ve never been ashamed to like what I like or to not like what I don’t like, no matter what the people my age were doing. I’ve always done what I’ve felt is best for my life. I never get embarrassed about anything. This notion has just intensified this year.
I don’t care about social media
I stopped going on Instagram. I deleted the app off of my phone. I deleted Twitter years ago. I don’t go on TikTok. I only use Snapchat for extra picture and video storage. I genuinely do not care about social media anymore. I don’t care for everyone to know what I’m up to. I don’t care to know what anyone else is up to. I know what’s going on in the lives of people that matter to me because I actually talk to and spend time with them. I personally don’t see the point in posting on Instagram. I don’t care to know what “celebrities” are doing. I just truly don’t care about any of it.
I prioritize privacy
This year I realized how important privacy is. For a whole host of reasons. Some of them being peace, less evil eye, safety, not having the pressure of trying to “keep up”. I can go on and on honestly. This year I’ve begun to say less and observe more. Since choosing private over public I’ve seen my happiness grow and my life blossom. I’m very careful with who I let into my circle. I don’t tell anyone everything. I’m selective with whom I share with and what I share. I’m truly in love with privacy. I love having beautiful experiences and no one or only the people I’m having them with knowing.
I pay attention to myself
This year I began to truly pay attention to myself. How I act in certain situations, my thought processes, my emotions, what I still need to work on, how I’ve grown, what triggers me, etc. Once I started doing this, healing, growth and making changes has become so much easier. I finally feel like I know myself through and through. I feel in touch with who I am. I know how to love myself and make myself happy.
I pray this new year you begin to choose happiness, because happiness will always be a choice. This year was NOT easy for me at all but I still prioritized myself and my happiness and I truly have never been happier. I pray this new year you choose yourself. I pray this year you begin to truly live.

Studying While Babymode
Hihi everypony! I've been seeing posts floating around agere Pinterest about making work for big you fit with agere. Now, as of right now, I'm in the medical field- which means I have no time to be baby! I'm always studying or hanging out with big me's boyfriend. So, here are my tips for studying while babymode! Because sometimes it’s involuntary or we need a minute to regress voluntarily before we explode.
Note: I have ADHD, so not all of these are to my personal taste. I cannot guarantee all of them will work for you, because not all of them work for me. I also don’t suggest regressing at school; these are for at-home use. I know regression is safe for work, but some people are genuinely uncomfortable with others voluntarily regressing near them. And I aim to respect that.
🖍️Listen to music or watch a cartoon. I can’t do this one. But! If music helps you to think, have a playlist in the background.
🖍️Colour during lectures/videos. I almost have to do this even in a non-agere context because (and you may not know this) I have tics, and they get horribly in the way. Sometimes, it can be hard to answer instructor questions when asked. And my instructors and I have both found that allowing me colouring pages actually keeps my hands occupied in a way that stops the ticcing while keeping my mind primed to learn. This can be beneficial! Try it out.
🖍️Have a snack/drink from a bottle or sippy. Or use a paci. I really like having my Blue’s Clues sippy cup ready for everything. It’s a little hard drinking from a sippy with braces though (I just got mine, sobsob!).
🖍️Make your setup/notes cute! Use stickers! Write notes in crayon or gel pen! Anything that helps, helps!
🖍️Crayon pal/stuffie study buddy If you happen to know a regressor in your field of study, why not study together? I’m in dental, if anyone needs a buddy, by the way. Oh! But if you don’t, a stuffie works!
🖍️Gamify your learning! Sites like Quizlet have game modes that allow you to study in a way that feels like gaming. Most of us with ADHD already know this trick because it helps us manage that, but to those who don’t- it can be nice if you’re motivated by scores! (I also have OCD so it’s less helpful for me but. Meh.)
🖍️When in doubt, TTS. I also need this in non-agere contexts because my brain gets bogged down by text. I cannot read too much. So I’ll usually play games while listening to my textbook so my mind doesn’t wander too horribly- and it usually works!
Alright, well, those are my tips. Feel free to add them if you have anything else!

How smart are you? You’ve given some hints before but how many degrees do you have? What are you studying? What do you want to do in live professionally and passionately? What’s your purpose career wise?
Also hypothetically would you be open to being your wives employee if she had a really successful company?
I actually don't have any degrees! I'm a nerd and smart but also certainly have my flaws.
For context, I was an honors student all growing up. Always tested in the 99th percentile for state aptitude assessments. I got a 33 on my ACT, did well on a bunch of AP tests and went to a non-ivy-league but prestiguous state school in the top 25% of the incoming class and as a university scholar, in an accelerated chemistry PhD program, and lived in an honors community on campus.
I learned to speak some Chinese, became an instructor for a traditional Korean percussion group, led a bible study, tutored students in organic chemistry, and did excellent in my humanities courses writing on topics like a linguistic study of gender conception in viking-era icelandic society and designing an interventional plan to address youth homelessness in the community.
College was the best 2 years of my life, I adored everything about it but I also completely overloaded myself. Turns out you need more than raw brains for success. I was conflicted between prioritizing my studies vs my faith, and had unadressed adhd and anxiety i wasnt ever aware of and didnt know how to cope with. When my 19 credit hours were drowning me, I couldnt own up to the shame of overwhelm and failure, couldnt look my teachers in the eye and ultimately stopped showing up to class and dropped out.
I'm now back in school with a better understanding of myself, an absense of competing priorities and a lot of experience. Im pursuing working in Radiology doing either CT or MRI. A lot of my friends growing up are finishing their PhD theses and I love discussing them with them, but I myself don't have even an associate's to my name.
Career wise, I originally wanted to be a professor of either Chemistry or Materials Science. I debated majoring in Linguistics or teaching English as a second language but i don't speak anything fluent enough to really do that yet. I've since considered pursuing a career in comedy, as a science communicator and journalist or PIO, as a university student advisor, and taught myself to code to maybe pursue programming.
I love learning. Currently I'm putting the most effort into Chinese classical literature. I've done personal units on nutrition, skincare, fitness, urban planning, economics, and some software like adobe illustrator and game dev with Unity and Godot.
For my professional future, I think I'm for now planning on being a travelling technician in healthcare. It'd give me an opportunity to see lots of different places which is a goal of mine and shouldn't have too many commitments keeping me held in place. Maybe I'll finally get over my fear of casual hookups and become a traveling nurse by day and city-to-city clit servicer by night sampling all sorts of delicious lady bits. Idk. For now I'm just focused on what I'm doing in the moment.
In terms of passions I want time and independence to pursue learning as an autodidact. I'd love to maintain access to university libraries and attend lots of public lectures and symposiums if i could live near enough a big university. I want to read about the things that interest me and someday get over my social anxiety and travel to make friends all over the world with fellow nerds.
In terms of working for my wife of course that would be really sexy I'd love to be my partners doting but slutty assistant 💕 depending on the industry i guess. I think something like insurance or real estate is kind of predatory tbh and wouldnt want to be associated with it. But if I didn't have an issue with it I'd adore being my partners employee. Or even just a supportive house husband or trusted personal assistant ❤️❤️ a role i've always thought I have the potential to be quite good at

When a leaky bathroom sink turns into a minor flood, Harry has to act fast. So, he thinks of the closest (and most unlikely) way to find home repair help… Grindr. The last thing he expects from this quick fix is to find anything long term.
Or... A Grindr AU inspired by this very real DM exchange as seen in this tumblr post.
♾️ Paint a Rainbow Inside My Heart
Fic Post
Teen+ | 22K | Larry | 5+1 Things | Queer Coding | Sexual Identity | Coming Out

♾️ The Habit I Can't Break
Fic Post
Explicit | 63K | Larry | Strangers to Lovers | Fitness Instructor Harry | Mild Kink (discovery)
While searching for a healthy alternative to fill the void that one habit left, Louis gets hooked on something and someone totally different. This new experience pushes him way out of his comfort zone, making Louis realize he’s capable of so much more than he could’ve ever imagined.
Or… The one where Louis quits smoking and tries to get healthy, and Harry is the fitness instructor who helps him achieve those goals while making him sweat in and out of the gym. In which Harry and Louis still meet at bootcamp, just not the one you’re thinking of.
Featuring Lottie as the supportive sister who drags her brother to bootcamp class, Louis as the grumpy (and very recently) ex-smoker, and Harry as the instructor with exhausting amounts of enthusiasm and one obnoxious pair of yellow trainers.
♾️ Forget About the World Outside, Because It's Just Me and You Tonight
Fic Post
Explicit | 4K | Larry | Post-Brit Awards Smut
Harry’s swept the Brits, bringing home four awards. He couldn’t be prouder and can’t wait to share his excitement with his favorite person, who he knows is waiting for him in the limo to take him home. He can’t help it if his mind starts to wander while the press snaps photos of him with his statuettes. All he can think about is the warm welcome he knows he’s bound to receive.
But first, Harry will have some repenting to do for a particular comment he made to the world about one, Stanley Tucci.
Or... The one where Louis didn’t care much for Harry’s acceptance speech for the Album of the Year award and needs to remind him that it’s Louis (not some bald American twat) who Harry loves more than anyone else in the world.
♾️ Let Your Heart Be Light
Fic Post
Teen+ | 77K| Larry + Ziam + Nashe | Enemies to Lovers | Advent Fic | Christmas Fluff | Slow Burn
Louis Tomlinson, a self-proclaimed holiday-hater, loses his job two weeks before Christmas. Broke and desperate to see his family back home in England, he takes the only job left at the mall as one of Santa’s helpers. Harry is an unconventional mall Santa, the youngest one they’ve had in years, but with as much holiday spirit as any other seasoned Saint Nick. He’s determined to un-Grinch the new guy in Santa’s Village if it takes until Christmas, then he finds out the devastating reason Louis has lost his Christmas cheer. Will Harry be just the thing Louis needs to help him get his sparkle back?
Featuring Liam as the manager at Santa's Village, Niall as an easy-going Irish elf and Harry's best friend, grumpy Grinch Louis and his best friend Zayn and one matchmaking Mrs. Claus.
♾️ Lazy Days and Pancakes for Two
Fic Post
Teen+ | 4K | Larry | Established Relationship | Domestic Fluff
They haven't seen each other in eighteen days. What better way to spend a much-needed tour break than having a lazy day watching shit TV and having breakfast in bed with your husband.
♾️ I Gave Up Hope and Found You Instead
Fic Post
Teen+ | 14K | Larry | Strangers to Lovers | Pirate AU | Fisherman Louis | Fluff/Angst/Hurt/Comfort
The entire village warned him not to go. Still, the peculiar boy from Eroda set sail on an odd-numbered day and, without knowing it, headed straight into the Our Flag Means Death universe. While being held captive aboard the pirate ship Revenge, the boy meets a fisherman named Louis.
Tasked by the captain to teach the reluctant boy to fish, Louis struggles to hide his frustration and hold his tongue. As difficult as it was to deal with this clumsy stranger, the skilled fisherman had worse assignments and more unpleasant partners, but none of them with a smile as bright as this peculiar boy had. A moment of unexpected distress catches them off guard, and both soon find out it’s much easier to catch feelings than fish.
Or, Where the "Adore You" music video ends and the Our Flag Means Death canon begins.
🐟 Written for @erodaficfest
♾️ I Was Born like This, Don't Even Gotta Try
Fic Post
Explicit | 2K | Larry | 2015 Era | Canon Reimagined | Fluff & Smut
A Gucci suit to get on your knees for… Louis and Harry return home after a long day of promo events and cocktail parties. They’re both exhausted, but that doesn’t stop Louis from keeping a promise he made to Harry in the limo earlier that night.
A certain geometric Gucci suit might have played a part in helping Louis’ keep that promise.
♾️ A Simple Twisted Fate
Fic Post
Explicit | 18K | Larry | Strangers to Lovers | Tattoo Artist Louis | Rock Star Harry | Kink Exploration
Global rock star Harry Styles has some time to kill between tour dates and stumbles into a Doncaster tattoo shop with a desire for some new ink. He has a few other desires as well, but those he must keep to himself.
Louis Tomlinson, owner of Twisted Fate Tattoos, has seen enough of the tabloids and thinks he knows everything there is to know about this world-famous rock star, and he’s not impressed.
Harry may be one of the world's biggest stars known for a lavish lifestyle, crazy parties and entourages of women wherever he goes, but he’s more than just what his image and wild reputation suggests.
Things take an interesting turn when Louis finds out he’s been helping satisfy Harry’s voracious pain kink. Bet he'd love to know that not only is Louis a gifted tattoo artist, but an experienced Dom as well. Perhaps they both have something to learn from each other, if only Louis would give Harry a chance. Maybe their paths crossing was more than just a twist of fate, but the universe’s plan all along.
Written for @subharryficfest
⚓ Update (11.1.22): New installment in the ‘Twisted’ universe coming soon!
♾️ Just a Little Taste Before I Go
Fic Post
Explicit | 4K | Larry | OTRA Tour | Kink Exploration
Just before showtime, Harry has a bit of nervous energy and needs help to settle himself before he and the boys hit the stage in Milwaukee. Louis knows just the place.
Or… The one where Harry and Louis just need to... ahem, blow off some steam in a storage closet and wind up dabbling in some unplanned kink exploration—and we find out what really happened before they took the stage that night of OTRA tour… you know the one.
Written for @subharryficfest
♾️ Climbing the Swells
Fic Post
Explicit | 6K | Larry | Enemies to Lovers | Surfer AU | Smut
One surfer out of his depth amongst some territorial locals makes a bold move and a very unwelcome entrance. After things go wrong, another surfer reluctantly takes mercy on him, offering some first-aid and unexpected hospitality aboard his Airstream. A couple dimples and a few wayward curls go a long way to soften one surly local, and what started out as a rough morning becomes a very sunny spot to the day.
Or… The one where a clumsy Harry and a stubborn Louis reconcile their grievances on the beach, with a heartfelt apology from Louis on his knees without saying a word.
🏖️ Written for @hlsummerfest2021
♾️ I Know You Rider (Gonna Miss Me when I’m Gone)
Fic Post
Teen+ | 9K | Larry | Strangers to Lovers | 1990s AU | Single-Rider Line AU
Waiting in line at the Big Dipper, one angsty skater punk gets paired with a chilled out hippy boy, by way of a single-rider line. Together, they ride one of Cypress Gardens’ oldest wooden roller coasters. Will this easy-going stranger in tie-dye make Louis forget his fear of heights, or turn their rickety ramble into a nightmare on steel wheels? Either way, it will be a ride Louis won’t soon forget.
Or… The one where Louis hates hippies and roller coasters and Harry tries to fix that with lots of fun facts, terrible puns and perhaps one very life-changing moment in a dark tunnel.
🏖️ Written for @hlsummerfest2021
🍋 Part 1 of Arcades & Lemonade. Part 2 coming soon-ish!
♾️ Freedom Always Comes with a Price
Fic Post
Explicit | 101K | Larry | Lovers to Friends to Lovers | Memory Loss | Non-Linear Narrative | Angst, Fluff & Smut
A shared dream brings them together onto the X-factor stage, but one decision changes Harry and Louis’ lives overnight. Thrust into a world of instant stardom, they're forced to live a lie to sustain their dreams, but years of living in the shadows and under strict management take its toll.
With the band's impending hiatus, there’s no better time for change, so they think.
Desperate for a solution, they turn to an unlikely source with a radical plan. An unfortunate accident sets everything in motion, but not how they intended, leaving Louis’ memories altered, Harry broken-hearted and full of regret.
Can Harry figure out a way to fix everything? Will he even want to once he sees how Louis moved on after the hiatus? Will Louis ever find out the truth of their past, and can he forgive Harry after all this time?
In the end, two friends find out that memories are elusive, trust is everything and love is the only antidote.
💥 Written for @onedirectionbigbang
♾️ Longing like a Searchlight
Fic Post
Explicit | 27K | Larry | 5+1 Things | Roommates to Lovers | Road Trips | Mutual Pining | Angst and Smut
Louis moves in with his friend Harry and soon thoughts of his new flatmate are anything but innocent. When it comes to acting on those urges while he’s alone, Louis has no control, and it doesn’t take long for his primal impulses to turn into deep, urgent longing the more time they spend together.
An unexpected family event takes Harry home for the weekend. Will it be the catalyst that finally brings them together, or what tears them apart when Louis overhears what Harry reveals to his mother about his true feelings?
Or... The Five times Louis almost gets caught during a salacious moment of self-care and the one time he did... a roommates-to-lovers fic with lots of feels.

The Educational divide between military and everybody else;
Despite my candor about crayon eating Marines; The ones that at least learned how to properly prepare those crayons are miles farther than those same crayon eaters who never learned.
<aside>I hope that gives you visions of a chef fancy-sautee-ing a single crayon at a time.</aside>
I know this because of the things that are taught in the military on a regular basis as just... Yearly storybook time. Like Fitness, First Aid, Nitrition, not drinking more than 6 beers in a week, information and Internet security, interpersonal relationships, and management. Not to mention your actual Job Duty technical training. (Or survival training depending on if you're infantry unlike myself.)
And much. MUCH MORE. As members are encouraged to learn things they encounter on the job that may not be included in their job title.
Because when you relay these simple lessons in the outside world;
They look at you as if your were intentionally being a smart ass. Or if you're trying to belittle them. Or if you're just straight up lying.
That's a cultural barrier that I still can't quite wrap my head around. To me; these things are second nature, like breathing. But to somebody else..? They're esoteric knowledge that you need at least 4 years of concentrated college to learn.
it's why channels like "Fox News" push the idea of a "Woke Military". Because they're literally not as educated as the military itself. And because modern military members often don't have documentation for their "Extra" skills they pickup that aren't their explicit job title... They're often looked at as either fluffing up their resumè, lying, or just stupid.
There is of course; NO WAY A SINGLE PERSON CAN HAVE SEVERAL BACHELOR DEGREES WORTH OF KNOWLEDGE, UNLESS THEYRE A WOKE LIBERAL LIAR.
And that's what Fox News believes the military has been trained to be. Instead of... You know; the most effective war fighters in the goddamn world.
And that is an issue; the criminalization of knowledge and expertise weakens the country's effectiveness and national security.
The ignorance shown by people that believe in the war between Smarts and Street Smarts, means that those with both are often overlooked.
In case you're wondering; I'm not saying I'm smarter than you. I'm saying I know more because you've forgone your studies for PRAXIS.
"I KNOW MY JOB VERY WELL AND THATS ALL THAT MATTERS!" you are definitely saying
And I'm saying; yeah, so Do I, except I know the baseline amount to start doing your job and several other jobs today if I wanted to.
"Then why don't you?" Is the question, why come you don't just get a job?
If people like me dumbed down our resumès, y'all would be out of a job. Plus wed be underselling our skill sets, be more valuable to the job than our employers which would breed animosity and jealousy.
And we would literally not be paid the amount of money that we are worth for the bullshit we'd have to put up with.
It tends to be why military members are very selective about where they work. There's definitely workplaces or even jobs we'd enjoy more than others, and bullshit we'd be willing to put up with for various reasons.
Notice; I'm not talking about your average 4-year boot and scoot. At least a 6 year Active Duty enlistment, and at least one deployment or tour.
Because a 4y boot-and-scoot barely finished basic (boot camp). They have *maybe* 2 years on-the-job.
There's even another secondary military member you should worry about; the boot-and-special-duty. A member that never really did real military things and found a way to forgoe their "duty title" in order to do auxiliary duties. Often, a boot-and-scoot-back-to-boot. Meaning they did their 4 years and wound up as a BMT(basic military training) instructor despite having near 0 real experience in the military.
It really really sucks, because the people I'm talking about *Know* exactly who and what I'm talking about. Because some of them managed to skip the line to a higher rank without really knowing the job.
An actual issue in our current military system, that steps have been taken to correct. But since I'm not in anymore; I'm not sure if they have.
"Keep your head down, keep working, and maybe if you're lucky; things will get better."
So I can't talk about these things without sounding like a know-it-all. Or an asshole. Or pretentious, as if I'm putting myself on that pedestal.
Bruh. College would've been so much easier.

@nereiix said to Jango Fett and Walon Vau: Age Difference and Childhood Trauma:
Interesting, as always. I just noticed one minor mistake: Vau was not depressive on Kamino. I can't find where it's said in the books, but it's near the passage where we learn Mird hunted and killed a Kaminoan.
Thank you 🙂
As for Vau, I assume you mean this paragraph from True Colors:
Vau hadn't actually disliked Tipoca in the eight years he'd been cooped up there. Inside the pristine stilt-city, it could have been any urban environment; he didn't miss shopping and entertainment, so it was largely indistinguishable from Coruscant, although the lack of hunting troubled Mird. The strill stalked Kaminoans instead. It even caught one once, but its prey was just the blue-eyed variety, the lowest genetic caste of Kamino, and the gray-eyed elite seemed only annoyed at the loss of a menial.     Yes, that was probably the day Vau's ambivalence toward Kaminoans evaporated, and he joined Skirata in thinking of them as aiwha-bait.
Of course this is up to personal interpretation, but for me Vau is solely making a point about Tipoca City as a place of his and Mird living (and why his ambivalence toward Kaminoans changed). He doesn’t need to hate Kamino (planet) to be depressed about seeing two(four) years old, tiny kids bred for war so Republic citizens won’t dirty their hands and bleed for whatever cause Jedi had in mind when commissioning a clone army.
It is hard to tell if Vau was truly depressed about that at any given point - especially when there is Kal to compare - but I wouldn’t cross out this possibility as the books pointed out quite often that the training took its emotional toll on both clones and their instructors. And sure, Kal is the main example of that as he is generally speaking an extrovert whose emotional state is hard to miss but though Walon was always presented as the most detached character, even he wasn’t immune to seeing his tiny cadets for the first time - something he admitted himself in the same book. He said he already had a “midlife crisis”[1] - that from my calculation fits the year of starting commando training - which may as well mean he had  an indefinite depressive period of time that could last few days, weeks or months but in contrast to Kal, Vau had better grip (control) of his emotion and did not let them interference with what he was paid to do.
At the end of the day, it all comes down to people’s individual feeling toward Vau - I personally give him benefit of doubt because the series showed he cared more than he let himself show and when things take emotional toll on him (the news of Sev being MIA), he is more prone to shut down to the point it may look like he doesn’t care at all while in fact he is deeply affected.
[1] midlife crisis sounds as something easier to admit for Vau than depression that could be also influenced by his guilt about Galidraan but in all fairness I don’t trust RC book series when it comes to characters’ mental illness, depression or broadly understood (lack of) mental health nor the characters' approach to it.
