comforting love
ft. Price, Soap, Gaz, Simon
⋆ ˚。⋆ fem pov ୨୧˚ warnings: none {wc: 778} ༄ I just love sweet tf141
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thinking about being Price's wife and the rest of the guys just love you. Honestly they adore you before even meeting you, just glad the Captain’s found someone that makes him gush like a teenager just talking about you to them.
And then when they meet you, they totally get the way he acts now. You were so sweet, even bringing them all personalised care packages based on things Price had told you about them. You had said you were bringing Price one and felt bad leaving his boys out, especially when they all probably missed home whilst at base.
For some, it was a cute gesture, one not too unfamiliar. But to Simon, receiving something made with such care from someone was foreign.
He thanked you and tried to act indifferent but as soon as he was in the barracks, he was studying everything inside. Some much needed snacks and drinks, a small cute hand painted cartoon ghost figure typical as well as a new journal and a fancy pen that he had no idea how to use. Price must’ve told you he’d began journaling to help his thoughts.
Everyone managed to move on pretty quickly from the thoughtful gifts they received but Simon really cherished it. He ended up having a heart to heart with Price one evening about it after one too many drinks, a few tears even making an appearance, that he claimed was allergies.
A night that Price told you about, the memory of it surfacing as you visited the base again and as you greeted them all, Simon just gave you a really long and silent hug. You didn’t know exactly what he was thinking, but you let him have this moment and he was grateful for it.
Then there was Gaz. Typical sweetheart. Always complimenting you, a kiss to your hand here and there, maybe even a friendly kiss on the cheek, earning a chuckled “Don’t try and steal my missus.” from Price.
And when you returned a compliment one time, he couldn’t find any words for a good few minutes, cheeks burning hot before clearing his throat and mumbling an almost shy, slightly inaudible thank you.
He’s always asking Price how things are with you and what you’ve been up to when the group doesn't see you for a while.
He jokes that he can live vicariously through Price and hoping one day he can find someone as sweet as you. And when you hear about this, you’re tempted to set Gaz up with a friend of yours but Price convinces you that it’s an awful idea so you refrain.
And of course Gaz sends you flowers for valentines day along with a sweet note and a thank you for keeping their beloved Captain happy.
“How big was the bouquet?” John asks,
“I don’t know, normal size?” you question,
“Not bigger than mine?” he adds,
“No.”
“Good, can’t have Gaz upstaging me like that.”
And of course, Soap. Shameless flirting right from the start and awful cheesy jokes on top of that. He was exactly the way Price described him, if not amplified about a thousand times more in person.
“I mean ma name’s John too, I’m like basically halfway to being your husband anyway.”
The guys appreciated his jokes but they could only hear them for so long before losing their mind. So when you were on base, he was running through every joke and story in his head so he could hear actual genuine laughter at his humour.
And by the end he was definitely addicted to the sound, a tiny bit jealous that Price gets to hear it so often, even if he would never admit it.
“So for her birthday, I was thinking we could get the second instalment of that book she loves.” Soap says with a grin.
“I know what to buy my wife Soap, I’ve got it covered.”
“Alright, well I know the lass well enough now to give you great suggestions, you should listen.” Soap mumbles as he adds the book to his basket, followed by a few more, earning a pointed stare from Price.
When you were visiting Price on base, you gave all of the guys a home away from home and they all appreciated you massively.
You visited for your husband of course, but you got to know them all, looking out for them as well. Making them feel loved even when you didn’t need to.
“So when do we get to see our girl-” Soap begins,
“My girl.” Price interrupts with a warning stare.
“Our girl.” Gaz repeats Soap's words.
“Yeah. They’re both right, Cap'n. Our girl.” Simon adds.

secret admirer
masterlist
melissa schemmenti x reader
i'm not good at writing fluff :( , valentines day, a little kiss, that's it
wc: 1.2k
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You drove to school alone this Valentine’s Day, arriving just on time after waking up later than you should have. By the time you reached the break room, it was practically empty, with just a few of your colleagues milling about, savouring the last few minutes before the children arrived.
You approached the counter to pour your morning coffee but, beside the empty pot was your favourite mug. The lid was on to keep the drink warm, just as you always have it, and a note with your name and a smiling face was stuck to its side. You smiled fondly at the gesture, taking a sip gladly to taste the beverage concocted just to your liking. Today was already off to a good start.
You’d given in to the holiday with heart-shaped decorations hanging from the walls; your class had practically forced you into making them, and the afternoon prior was dedicated to cutting out pink and red paper and glueing strips together into chains. Today, by popular request, you spent the morning decorating cards. By your instruction, the children created messages of friendship for the person sitting beside them with a painfully large amount of glitter spread across the desks. The sparkling pinks and purples will stay cemented into the carpet for eternity, you’re sure.
Janine made her rounds through the corridors with her usual grin and a wicker basket full of cardstock trimmed into rounded hearts. Somehow, she’d managed to personalise enough messages for all of the children in the second and third grades. Apparently, she had aimed to conquer the whole school, but after getting cramp more than once, she settled on her two favourite grades instead.
“Hi, everyone,” she smiled when she walked in, earning a few waves from the class whilst they focussed on their work. You’d tricked them into working on the curriculum by making each and every task painfully Valentine’s themed. “Cupid comes bearing gifts. I’m Cupid, by the way, I didn’t just let some random guy bring candies for the kids,” she added, making you laugh just as her mumblings often do.
“Everybody show Cupid your good manners,” you spoke as Janine placed her gifts in front of each student. She was rewarded with polite ‘thank yous’ from your whole class until her basket was finally emptied besides one more token of adoration.
“You have a secret admirer,” she smiled excitedly when she approached you, handing you a chocolate rose and a sealed envelope. You felt your cheeks heat up at the attention and the precise, cursive lettering of your name in golden pen.
You waited for the class to settle down again before you peeled it open, pulling out the simple square of white card inside. It was brief and vague but enough to make your heart thump against your chest and your stomach swarm with an excitement that sent a shiver through you. The sender merely wished you a good day with a clumsily scribbled bouquet of flowers - it was beyond endearing.
Your eyes met Melissa’s for the first time of the day when you walked into the breakroom for your lunch; she greeted you with a smile that made you swoon and a wink before she showed you the lunch she’d brought in for you. It was years ago that she began bringing you homemade meals, but the sweet novelty of it could never begin to fade away; each forkful was a hug from the older woman, a piece of her to show she cares. From the very first time she pushed a tupperware container your way, you’ve always pondered the fact that - in those moments - her lips taste just the same as yours.
Unfortunately for you, the seat beside the woman who harboured your affections was not free. Instead, you settled on the one across from her. You settled on fleeting glances, selfishly wanting her attention to be on you whenever she spoke, fidgeting in your seat just so she would glance in your direction.
Wordlessly, she slid a packet of your favourite candy your way once you’d licked your fork clean of your final bite - nobody mentioned the soft fondness of her actions.
She walked with you back to your class just as she always does. Considering her classroom is directly opposite yours, it’s not much of a detour, but you appreciate the beating of your heart it causes to quicken.
“Heard you got a secret admirer,” she winked with a bump of her shoulder into yours, you giggled bashfully and almost hid your face from her gaze - you’d have shied away if her eyes weren’t so captivating. “Any idea who it is?”
“Not sure,” you answered. “But I think I know who I want it to be.”
There was a takeout cup of hot chocolate from your favourite coffee shop down the street sitting next to a Valentine-themed cupcake on your desk. You wondered how it got there while happily laughing at the sight. This secret admirer was going above and beyond.
By the time you were able to leave for the day, the majority of your colleagues had already uttered a goodbye as they passed your room. After a meeting with a parent, your late departure left your car with empty spaces around it - you didn’t recognise any of the vehicles still there, and you wondered if they were all getting ready for dates right now.
As you approached your car with your keys in hand, you saw the distinct shape of a bunch of flowers tucked beneath the windscreen wipers. The time and attention spent on you made your head swim gleefully, and you couldn’t help but grin at the note - your cheeks were beginning to hurt. That same writing that made your name look more beautiful than you could’ve imagined, gave the simple instruction of a location and time. You had to hurry to make sure to be ready for 6 PM.
The restaurant was filled with couples; you could tell that some were on first dates with awkward conversations and fleeting eye contact. You weaved through the nauseatingly large amount of patrons to where you saw familiar auburn hair. The lightly curled locks fell down her back, sitting against the green satin of her dress; you could see her leg crossed over the other and the finger that trailed along the stem of a wine glass.
You could hear the thrumming of your pulse as you grew nearer.
Your hand grazed the skin of her shoulder once you reached her, and Melissa peered up at you from where she sat, grazing her sights over your figure appreciatively.
“Hi, hon,” she breathed. “Surprised?”
“So surprised,” you giggled, feeling her grin against your lips when you leaned down to greet her with a kiss.
“You look gorgeous, babe,” she added whilst you sat down. Your cheeks burned beneath her compliment.
“So do you,” you returned. “Everyone in here must be jealous that I’m on a date with a Phillie eleven.”
“Flatterer,” she scoffed. You basked in the pink tinting of her cheeks and watched the way her tongue slid over her bottom lip as she looked at you.
“I’ve gotta say,” you started teasingly, watching her over the rim of your glass as you took a sip. “You could’ve given me a challenge.”
“Hm?” she smirked with a tilt of her head.
“Well, it’s not difficult to guess who your secret admirer is when you’ve been married to them for two years.”

fun facts about the most important characters for the AU
Scout: Every teacher knows him as _____'s little brother. No exceptions. Is always treated with suspicion whenever they discover his surname.
Soldier: He and Demo always try and summon a ghost whenever they have a sleepover. He's trying to convince Merasmus to come along for one of them, as he believes with his super cool wizard powers they'll finally make contact with the undead.
Pyro: They write almost everything in a glitter gel pen
Demo: He gardens extremely well, and reads poetry. (He’s especially fond of Robert Burns’ work, and has a tendency to burst into recitals whenever he’s drank a little too much)
Engie: Has not been seen since 25/7/XX
Heavy: His bedroom used to belong to a young girl, so he's got model weapons next to a mural of My Little Pony characters. He can name all of them.
Medic: He has somehow tamed all of the seagulls at school. He is the seagull man.
Spy: Doxxes people online for fun, or to get back at them for arguing with him online (keyboard warrior), and he once doxxed Sniper without knowing.
Sniper: He streams on 'Itch'. He’s weirdly popular, but he doesn’t show his face or have a microphone. It’s just five hours straight of someone getting perfect headshots (Until he's backstabbed by a certain someone.) He also looks almost identical to the Assassin in BB2, who he mains. The only difference is that the Assassin has much longer hair
Miss Pauling: Colour-codes her notes and organises them extensively instead of revising her subjects.
Administrator: Shows up every 4 years at Christmas time and gives lavish and not at all personalised gifts to her grand nieces and nephews, before vanishing into the night.
Saxton Hale: Used to be the PE teacher while his dad worked as headteacher. He was GODLY to have on your team.
Bidwell: He paints in his free time, and posts his art online
Charles Darling: Head of the posh boarding school at the area. There’s been an intense rivalry between the Darlings and the Hales for quite some time.
Zhanna: Has a massive collection of plushies
Grey Mann: like 95, and has an 18-year-old daughter somehow. And is also still working???
Olivia Mann: Homeschooled for most of her life, but went to Darling Boarding School as a semi boarder for year 11.
Merasmus: Rarely wears eyeliner but always manages to get the perfect wing whenever they apply it.
Scout's mother: She gets almost everything from Facebook marketplace, charity shops, and Vinted. Furniture, clothes, appliances, everything. Also a massive temu victim.
Chevy (C!Heavy): Ooh he's mysterious - mickey
Beatrice (C!Pyro): Her old school ws set on fire. Despite almost everyone knowing that it was Beatrice, it could never be triased back to her.
Greg (C!Demo) and Greg (C!Scout): They are in all of the same classes and also share a last name (Smith), so it gets confusing at times.
Ross (C!Soldier): Does cadets with Soldier, and plans to go straight into it after secondary school
Virgil (C!Sniper): Like Mundee, he will and can headshot you 10 times in a row on Band Bastille 2.
Fred (C!Engineer): Before the summer he was mainly just good friends with Virgil, who was a part of the 'Classic' friend group before he fully joined at the start of year 11
Matt (C!Spy): No one knows why he doesn't go to Darling Boarding School, as his parents are quite posh.
Steven (C!Medic): Was one of the nicest students in school before he left, no one really knows why he hung out with Chevy or any of that gang in fact.
if you want anyone else, just comment them. ill reply, probably

The ghoulettes used to hand out origami flowers made from the Mummy Dust dollars!
These usually had the name of the city they were touring in that night, along with personalisation such as googly eyes, metal studs, and plastic spiders. They'd also be coloured in in red pen.
The handwriting is the same on all the photos I can find, so I don't know if it was just one ghoulette doing it, or if it was a collaborative effort to make the flowers and just one ghoulette wrote on them.

Chapter Two
Alex Cabot x Amelia Chase
And she did, paired with another note.
~ Some sicko killing her own sister, you’d have to kill me before I would harm Andy, but I guess some people are worse than others. Congratulations Alexandra.
When the squad noticed the new set of flowers gracing Alex’s desk, they made their threats, told her that they’d visit Amelia and tell her to stop, but she waved them off with a small smile, “She’ll get tired of it eventually, until them I’ll enjoy the flowers.”
4 months passed before she visited again, Amelia had been involved in a brawl in prison with ties to the case that Alex and SVU were prosecuting.
Two people had died and Amelia had been a witness, although judging by the torn knuckles and split eyebrow she’d obviously been more than just an innocent bystander.
“What happened?” Amelia sighed wincing slightly as she did, the throbbing pain in her lungs and ribs coaxing her grimace.
“I was reading when it started, the blonde walked over to the brunette stabbed her with a homemade shiv.” Alex nodded although her eyes were still trained on the torn knuckles,
“And what about you what’s with the split eyebrow and bloodied knuckles.” Amelia huffed,
“Some crazy bitch came over when the brawl started she said you and Andy had put her away, claimed she was going to kill me then you and Andy. I snapped, we got into it and she ended up in the infirmary.” Alex rolled her eyes,
“You should have walked away.” Amelia scoffed,
“I should and shouldn’t have done a lot of things, but I don’t regret not walking away. Nobody threatens the people I care about without facing the consequences.” Alex’s eyes were narrow, but she relented eventually pulling out her notepad and pen,
“Fine, tell me what happened from the beginning.”
A lot of their interactions remained similar, until Amelia was escorted to Alex’s office cradling a split lip and and black eye. The cuffs were removed and the guard stood outside the door before Alex walked over cautiously observing the lacerations.
“What happened, who did this.” Amelia shook her head waving off Alex’s concern.
“It’s nothing, seems like I’ve become a target after the riot, it got round I’ve got a lawyer as a sister. Now I assume I’m here for trial prep?” Alex nodded slowly, cautiously.
She felt guilty, because as much as she hated her and her crimes, but she felt guilty that Amelia was being hurt because of her and Casey.
“I can have you transferred to protective custody if you’d like.” Amelia once again waved off her concern, instead her gaze traveled to the flowers that sat on Alex’s desk,
“You kept them.” A light blush dusted Alex’s cheeks,
“Their nice flowers, it would have been a shame to throw them away.” A teasing smirk danced across Amelia’s lips,
“Of course.” They remained conversing in a similar fashion for the duration Amelia flashing a teasing comment every so often and Alex attempting to keep them on task and topic.
Her next gift wasn’t only flowers after that, no it was accompanied by a new leather briefcase, specifically a Cartier briefcase, that possessed a retail price of $3,000 dollars, personalised leather bound notebooks embossed with her name of which was highlighted in gold, another couple hundred dollars. And an Alexander the Great Visconti fountain pen that retailed for at least another $3,000 dollars, real on the nose. The gift was extravagant, more so than what she was accustomed to receiving.
And if the squad had noticed the new kit, they didn’t metion it, neither did Casey for that matter although she figured they’d assume with the Cabot wealth that she had brought it herself.
But if they knew Alex they would know, she’d never reasonably spend that much on herself even with her own unlimited finacial funds she’d never indulge at that price. But a gift was a gift regardless of the gifter.
The next time Amelia was in her office she had torn up knuckles a broken nose that had stips across the bridge and a few broken ribs that caused her to limp into the room.
Alex frowned, placing her pen on the pages of her notebook, items that Amelia had bought for her.
“What happened?” Amelia winced as the warden removed her cuffs, before closing the door standing outside,
“Would you believe me if I told you, I ran into a door.” Alex shook her head tentatively, raising her hand to trace the bruising around her cheeks.
“Who did this?” The convict shrugged,
“Some bitch that killed her kid, you and Andy prosecuted, she obviously held a grudge.” Alex’s eyes searched hers, grasping at the comfort that she found amongst green eyes.
“I really think we should have you put in protective custody, I mean this is the third time you’ve been attacked.” Amelia waved away Alex’s concern,
“I agree to that and they win Alexandra, I’m fine I know how to take care of myself.” Alex found herself growing frustrated,
“And the next time you’ll end up on a cold slab in the morgue.” Amelia smirked but Alex could see the vulnerablity in Amelia’s eyes,
“I know a few people who wouldn’t be disappointed about that outcome.” Alex frowned,
“What about Casey?” Amelia shrugged, carefully walking over to the couch in Alex’s office,
“Andy doesn’t need me ruining her reputation, I think deep down she’d be glad I was dead.” The ADA shook her head refuting the statement,
“I don’t think that’s true. Your Casey’s twin sister, she doesn’t want you dead, I’d bet she’d hate to even see you hurt.” Amelia nodded curtly considering Alex’s words,
“Well then I guess it’s good thing she doesn’t visit to see it.” The universe seemed to have a cruel sense of humour, as it was at that moment that Casey opened the office door clutching a stack of files.
When she saw Amelia she froze and when she noticed the injuries she rushed over pawing all over her face, stuttering her words of concern. Eventually Amelia clasped Casey’s hands in her own,
“Andy I’m fine, it’s nothing just a scratch.” The glare that emulated from the redhead made even Alex shiver,
“I’m having you put in protective custody, being my sister alone puts you in danger, I won’t let you get hurt because of me.” She stormed over to the phone in Alex’s office Amelia attempting to stand but stumbling in pain. Alex caught her holding up most of her weight as Amelia groaned.
“Cassandra no! I’m fine in general population, I can take care of myself.” Casey rolled her eyes slamming the phone back on the receiver.
“A broken nose and ribs, and bruises all over you face how is that fine.” A wolffish grin danced across Amelia’s face,
“Well they’re all in the infirmary so I’d consider that successful. I don’t need protection Andy I’m doing just fine by myself.” The young ADA scoffed turning to Alex,
“SVU dropped off all of the files for the Edward’s case,” she then turned to address Amelia, “I’ll look forward to planning your funeral.”
Amelia sighed slowly lowering herself back onto the couch, “She has a point.”
Amelia grinned up lazily at the blonde, “Well I guess it’s a good thing I’ve written a will then.”
The next gift was by far the most lavish, a watch with a pink leather strap, a Vacheron Constantin self winding pink gold watch with diamonds encrusted around the clock face, with a $53,000 dollar value.
And when she visited next she noticed the fading bruises and Amelia noticed the watch brandishing her wrist, “You like the watch.”
Alex nodded, “$53,000 dollars on a watch is a lot Amelia.” The redhead simply shrugs,
“For you it’s worth it.” And God did that melt something within Alex, and not that she’d ever admit it but the caring nature of the woman made her wonder how exactly she ended up a convicted rapist and murderer.

i just know that once they get married harry will be so excited to engrave all her stuff like he does, like putting “i. styles” on her bridal robe or on the tags of her dresses
god you literally have no idea like ivy just thinks his personalised stuff was like presents from niall or someone dumb thinking they’re just fun silly presents but oh no like bambi h goes out of his way to get his name of things like it’s the HEIGHT of wealth for him (idk why??? he’s a weird dude) so OF COURSE ivy gets the same treatment like he’s already thinking whether or not he should start doing things with her first name on them or not (he doesn’t have many of those, for some reason he prefers styles over Harry idk why) and there is no way in hell, especially after this last chapter lmao that he’ll ever put ivy christofi on anything so he’s waiting until she’s his wife and she’s ivy styles which just has the best ring to it and he can get a pen to match his with their names on, and a robe and of course her bridal robe and all of her cards will say ivy styles and he’s just so excited not even for the fun expenny things like pens n robes etc but like the mundane stuff like her drivers license and her passport and when she has to make a doctors appointment for her ultra sound and the receptionist asks her name, he can be sitting alongside her beaming with pride as she says ivy styles

Mr Gilga, can you sign my spoon?
Tumblr media
Did he enjoy this part of the job, or did he absolutely despise it? Honestly, he was on the fence. On one hand, he enjoyed being admired. On the other hand - he didn't like it when people got all up in his face. He supposed that he should be glad he was this famous. There were PLENTY of actors who could only dream of being famous enough to make a living off of their acting, not to mention have people ask for their autograph.
Nnoitra put up a somewhat questioning look as a spoon was handed to him. He SUPPOSED it was a reference to one of the newer episodes, where there had been somewhat of a fanservice scene, where he very slowly ate ice-cream with a spoon. He'd enjoyed making that scene, and had purposely messed it a couple of times, just so that he'd get more ice-cream. The director had totally busted him though, and he'd gotten a real scolding, and they'd switched to the cheapest kind of ice-cream they could get. Jokes on them! He enjoyed ice-cream no matter how cheap it was!
He took the spoon, and the pen offered to him ( a pen that could write on metal, he supposed ).
❝ Sure, but I don't do that personalised shit. ❞ He didn't write messages to fans or whatever. All he did was sign his name. He awkwardly scribbled his name onto the spoon ( it looked even more messy than his normal autograph ), before handing it back to the fan. He didn't always accept when people asked for autographs. It depended on their tone, and how busy he was. This fan had caught him at a good time, and been polite.

Do You Know What to Gift on Father's Day?
Your father is like your superhero and the one person you admire the most in this world. Father's Day is one such occasion that has been designed to depict how much you love him. Whether it is your father or a father-like figure, gift-giving is always a perfect way of showing appreciation.
Well, what do you get a man who hardly thinks of himself and is always busy meeting your needs? This post shares some great ideas of gifts for fathers, for those who are in search of the perfect token of appreciation.
A Personalised Gift that is Meaningful
Nothing can beat a personalised gift for father. It shows them what you feel in the perfect way. A simple mug, if your father loves his tea or a journal, if he loves to write, can turn into something he will cherish forever.
You can add your own message or a picture to make it special. There are various stores that offer personalised gifts, with Ferns N Petals being a leading name in the sector.
The Top Personalised Gift Items to Choose From
Here are a few options for you to pick from:
Flowers: Your father may act all tough, but a beautiful bouquet of their favourite flower will surely melt their heart.
Cakes: Cakes are the perfect way to add a touch of sweetness to the day. You can pair it up with any other gift as well.
Plants: Plants make for great gifts, given how they last for a lifetime if taken proper care of, much like how your father takes care of you.
Desk Gifts: A pen stand with a sweet message or a picture will make him happy every time he looks at it during work.
Grooming Hampers: These are perfect if your father forgets to take care of himself. This will be the best way to get them started.
Photo Frames: A beautiful photo, maybe of a childhood beach trip or some other loving memory, can make for a great framed gift. They can keep it at their office desk.
Something Fashion to Amp up His Wardrobe
Fathers hardly spend any time pondering what outfit to wear. Gifting them a shift or a stunning pair of shoes can truly make them feel fashionable. And if your father loves to dress up, then any fashion item will be the perfect gift. Here are a few things you can choose from:
Designer Cologne
A bottle of high-end cologne from brands like Tom Ford or Chanel can be a sophisticated addition to his collection. You can get these at great deals from Noon to avail the authentic items.
Apparel
You can also buy them a shirt or a stylish jacket for the winter. A durable, high-quality jacket will be a great addition to his wardrobe. You can shop from premium brands like Emporio Armani and Tommy Hilfiger. At DealsandCouponsmena, you will find attractive coupons as well using which you can get these at the best prices.
Classic Tie Set
A collection of elegant ties in various styles or colours can refresh his professional look. This will be perfect if your father has to attend a lot of meetings. You can pick quirky prints or sophisticated ones that reflect his style.

A Beautiful Watch
A watch always makes for a great gift for father. It symbolises the time you have spent together and will spend together in the future. There are some great options available in the market. You can pick a smartwatch as well if your father loves technology.
Gifts Based on His Hobby
Giving your dad a present that reflects his passions might be really thought-provoking if he has particular interests or hobbies. Customising your gift to fit his interests shows how much you know him.
Golf Accessories: If your father is an avid player, get him a new set of clubs, a personalised golf towel, or some high-quality golf balls.
Fishing Equipment: A father who enjoys being by the water will appreciate a new set of lures, a tackle box, or a high-quality fishing rod.
Gardening Supplies: A set of top-notch tools, plants, or a membership to a gardening magazine can make the ideal present for your dad if he likes gardening.
Art Supplies: New paints, sketchbooks, or craft supplies can help inspire your father if he is a painter or loves to explore his creative side.
Gifts that Facilitate His Well-being
Father's Day is the perfect time to encourage your father to start working out. You can choose from a wide range of options. You can pick a yoga mat or a fitness tracker. You can also get them an annual subscription to a health club or a local gym. Stores like Sun & Sand Sports offer a wide range of sports and fitness equipment and apparel.
You can pick massagers and at-home workout equipment as well. If they are already in fitness, they will greatly appreciate these gifts.
Things to Consider When Picking a Gift
There are two things you need to consider when choosing the best gift for father. These are:
His Likes and Lifestyle: Assess what your father loves to do and how he typically spends his day. Gifting something that will make any of his everyday tasks easy can be a great help for him. Consider his hobbies.
Balance between Personal and Practical: Choose something that will be a useful item and try to make it customised. If it is not possible, add something personal to it, like a handwritten note or a card. You can also opt for gift hampers.
Final Words
Father's Day is not just about the material gifts. It is about honour and expressing love in a way that will be special to your father. Whether it's a cologne or a photo frame, the idea is to select the item of desire that would make him happy.
Forget the price tag and whether or not it is something high-end. Choose something that reflects your bond and your feelings in the best way. That will be the perfect gift for dad.

Movies or books – which do you prefer?
My view is this…
Many people enjoy the film version of a book, while some say they prefer watching films to reading, it is something I have never come to terms with. You see, I enjoy watching the occasional movie, it’s a great distraction and an excellent way to while away an hour or two, but I don’t think watching a film can ever connect on the same level as reading a book.
Reading allows us to absorb the author's original thoughts and conceptions creating a personalised understanding of the characters, places, locations, scents, sights, voices… everything the author imagined, and for it to become our fantastical reality. We become lost in the unfolding of the tale, enchanted, captured, escaping reality… at least until we turn the last page and close the cover.
A movie, however, is a corrupted version of those original thoughts. A dissemination, a reorganisation, an amended, revised, and changed.
They are reworked by scriptwriters whose manuscripts are then interpreted by the director, who then project their interpretation influencing the delivery.
It is why many opening titles state, ‘Adapted for the screen’, or ‘Based on the book [title] by [author name]. Simply because it is an adaptation. There is no direct correlation between the viewer and the original author.
The characters are rendered by actors whose opinions are based on the screenwriter’s adaptation, and the director's guidance. All a distortion of originality, and one which often leaves those who have read the book disappointed with the changes and alterations made, as rarely will they match our imaginings such as the voices, faces, and general demeanor of the characters we know so well from reading the book.
A written story connects us with the writer’s thoughts. It gives us a window into their mind. It is an explicit, uncorrupted, direct communication across time and space with the person who penned the words.
It is why I prefer books to movies.
You can connect with me in the same, direct way, by reading one of my books.

Every year, there are lots of aspirants that want to become an IAS officer; however, only some of them achieve this title. Though the competition is too high, the things that create a difference between an IAS topper and others are the disciplined approach, smart strategies, and consistency in preparation.
In this blog, we will be discussing the top 10 tips from IAS toppers and a few strategies that helped them crack this IAS exam in one go. We will also consider how you will be able to apply these tips in your journey. Be it the nascent stage of preparation or finishing stages, the same proven strategies will keep you right on course.
Understanding the Syllabus Inside Out Familiarization with the detailed syllabus of the examination is one of the main mistakes many IAS aspirants commit. The IAS toppers, always in their interviews, mention getting acquainted with the entire UPSC syllabus. Deep understanding aids an aspirant to prioritize topics and streamline preparation.
How to do it:
Break the syllabus into smaller, manageable parts, namely Prelims, Mains, and Interview. Keep the syllabus handy for quick reference. Mark important topics and link them to current affairs. Pro Tip: A schedule that assimilates the syllabus is how many toppers were able to finish their preparation on time.
Making a Personalized Study Plan Toppers usually refer to how they made structured study plans according to their strengths and weaknesses. Having a structured and personalized study plan is essential to ensure you cover the vast syllabus efficiently.
How to Create an Effective Study Plan: Segregate your day for focused study sessions, which must be at least 4-6 hours. Segregate preparation into phases: 3 months of prelims, 4 months of mains, and 2 months of revision. Allot time for optional subjects to study, general studies, and daily current affairs. The TNPSC coaching centre in Coimbatore often brings it to the notice of aspirants that it is over mere following of a personalised study schedule but its religious adherence is imperative to bring consistent results.
Give Importance to Current Affairs The toppers regularly refer to keeping up-to-date with current affairs, which happens to be the most crucial part not only of the Preliminary but also of Mains and the Interview. Questions regarding national as well as international events are commonplace; therefore, updating yourself is of utmost relevance.
Sources of Current Affairs: The Hindu or Indian Express on a daily basis for news items. Government websites: PIB-Press Information Bureau. Current affairs monthly magazines: Yojana, Kurukshetra. Follow key debates in the Parliament and major National Programs. Toppers prescribe making short notes from these and going back to these notes during revisions. Institutes like tnpsc coaching centre in Coimbatore have classes specifically aimed at mastering current affairs.
Master the Art of Note-Making Note-making is a very critical element of effective revision and retention. The toppers of IAS quite often narrate how they could use some concise, clear notes to summarize all and make the revision easy in the last few weeks preceding the examination.
Key Tips for Note-Making: Big texts to be summarized into short bullet-point notes. Using different colored pens keeps things better organized. Keep updating the notes with important current affairs facts and figures regularly. Pro Tip: IAS toppers prefer digital notes for ease of updating and revision, but physical notebooks also are great.
Regular Answer Writing Practice That differentiates IAS toppers from all others is how they write. Mains is a subjective exam, and answer writing has to be practiced consistently to get that steady, compact response style.
How to Practice: Join a test series to get good feedback. Write at least 1 or 2 answers every day on whatever you study. A proper introduction, body and conclusion should be prepared for each answer. Many toppers join reputed coaching centres like TNPSC Coaching Centre in Coimbatore where they can attend answer writing sessions with good feedback for their improvement.
Give Importance to Mock Tests Mock tests for both Prelims and Mains are immensely crucial. They will be a guiding light on your preparation, pointing at your weaknesses and getting you accustomed to the stress of the actual exam.
Why Do Mock Tests Matter?
They will help you manage time effectively during the actual examination.
Whet critical thinking skills under pressure.
Help fine-tune preparation strategy by making a mistake analysis. IAS toppers take, on average, one mock test every week in the initial stages of preparation, and as time narrows between them and the exam date, the frequency increases.
Focus on Optional Subject Choosing the right optional subject brings a lot of difference in your Mains score. The optional subject constitutes 500 marks; hence, it is very important to choose a subject with which you are comfortable and interested.
How to Choose the Right Optional: Choose a subject that interests you and which you like studying, rather than only which is popular among students The material and resources should be available for study Success rate and Scoring can be seen by analyzing the trend of the optional subject. The leading coaching institutes like tnpsc coaching centre in Coimbatore offer counseling sessions in detail for choosing the right optional subject.
Revision is the Mantra Topper says that revision of class notes regularly is one of the mantras to success in the IAS exam. Multiple revisions help to retain a large amount of information, thereby making it easier to remember during the examination.
How to Plan Revision: Make a weekly revision schedule. Revise your class notes for each subject at least 2-3 times before the exam. Pay more attention while revising current affairs, NCERTs, and your optional subject. Through revision on a regular basis, the IAS toppers ensure that no part remains hidden or forgotten.
Keep a Positive Mind and Stress-free The length and difficulty of the IAS exam make it easy to overwhelm oneself. IAS toppers always talk of the need to keep a positive mindset throughout the preparation process.
Some Stress-Relieving Tips: Practice meditation or yoga in order to keep one's mind in tune. Take brief breaks in between extensive studying to get energized. Stay in close contact with friends and family who are emotional supports. A mind which is calm and composed attends the exam with confidence. Many toppers express their experiences about how being at ease helped them perform better during the actual exam.
Stay Consistent and Focused The IAS exam is really a marathon rather than a sprint. Consistency is the factor that creates a wedge between the toppers and others. Whether it is adhering to a daily study schedule or routine revision of notes, the IAS toppers feel there is a dire need for discipline.
How to Stay Consistent: Break down big goals into small, achievable milestones. Keep tracking your progress and realign your studying, if necessary. Keep your focus on the long-term goal even when motivational levels are low. Success means, in essence, putting up a well-planned study schedule, consistent efforts, and regular assessment. Many toppers at the tnpsc coaching centre, Coimbatore, will also agree with this. Conclusion Cracking the IAS exam is a challenge, but it is not impossible if one pursues some well-designed strategy.
