thinking about doomsday again… the man who notoriously goes out of his way to avoid goodbyes all his life, actively searched for months for a way to say goodbye to the woman he kept avoiding his feelings for, too afraid he’ll lose her. then he stood there as she cried her heart out for the longest two minutes of his life and kept a composed front for her while he too was crying behind his projection…..

Random Doctor Who Facts You Might Not Know, Part 23
River Song chose Bernice Summerfield as her tutor in university because she knew the Doctor. Benny remembers that she was the most annoying student she ever had, rarely attended class, but still graduated on top.
Not only does the Sixth Doctor wear a cat brooch, but he wears cat cufflinks too.
Jenny had managed to track the Eleventh Doctor down during the Siege of Trenzalore but was unable to get to him due to the forcefield kept by the Papal Mainframe.
The Sixth Doctor has twelve identical spare coats in the TARDIS wardrobe.
Leela once stabbed the Second Doctor with a Janus thorn. Jamie immediately began a knife fight with her in response.
Peri Brown once had to disguise herself as Queen Elizabeth I, big dress and all. The Sixth Doctor was much more amused by this than she was.
When Helen first became a companion, she thought the Eighth Doctor was scary.
After the Twelfth Doctor kicked Rassilon off Gallifrey, Rassilon allied himself with the Cybermen, was converted into the CyberPresident, and created an alternate timeline where the Cybermen had taken over the universe. This timeline was later eradicated.
There are 76 different color tones in the Sixth Doctor's coat.
While at university, River stole a vortex manipulator in order to get help from her future self on essays. The reason she wasn't expelled was because she argued that it was impossible to plagiarize off of herself.
When listening to a device that sounds like the voice of someone the listener admires and respects, Ianto heard Jack, and Jack heard the Tenth Doctor.
In a parallel universe, Rob Tyler was the son of Jackie and Pete Tyler. He was the male counterpart of Rose and in a relationship with Mickey.
By one account, Rassilon’s first body was male; by another, female.
After a conversation with the Third Doctor, River became convinced that the Sixth Doctor was copying her hair.
After learning about messages in bottles, Jenny wrote to the Doctor, hoping it would one day find them.
Dalek juice is a beverage made from the secretions that come out of a Dalek as it is tortured.
The Sixth Doctor developed a weak form of night vision from the carrot juice Mel had him drink.
Jamie has disguised himself as a woman on two different occasions (that I can think of).

MINI-FEST ALERT!
As you may know already, Rose Tyler was born on the 27th of April, 1987. (Er. 1986? I'm not sure, and neither is Doctor Who itself.)
Tumblr media
Can we, as chronic fans of a character who hasn't been on screen for almost fifteen years, let this day pass by without celebrating it??? Our girl turns 37 this year! (or 36, or 38, or maybe even 40+ because time runs differently in pete's world. sigh) ANYWAY what better way of celebrating this day than by giving her all our love via fan creations?
From the moment you see this terribly put-together post until the 28th of April, we will be holding a mini Rose Tyler Birthday Fest!
Same old rules...any medium goes! Fanart can be nsfw! For fic, there is absolutely no minimum word count, (seriously I'd love to see your headcanons, even), and there's no restriction on rating there, either. We will be accepting pre-canon and all three canon pairings from the show; nine, ten and tentoorose! The only* "rule", as such, is that you stick with the theme: Rose's birthday. And even that, you can interpret loosely! Tell us about multiple birthdays, or just one, or about the birthdays she spent without the Doctor and the ones she'll never have to spend without him again.
Tag us @whywhatswrongwithblue and we'll reblog your work!
Happy creating! :))
*Not really sure if this even needs saying anymore, as you can probably tell from this blog, but we're massive fans of tentoo and of rose's canonical ending and would super appreciate all entries being pro-tentoo (i.e, not killing/retconning him!) ❤️

Caerdroia
Synopsis
Self-exiled to a new universe, separated from the TARDIS, opposed and manipulated by the Divergence and their agent the Kro'ka, the Eighth Doctor has been struggling to work out the nature of the cosmic game in which he's an unwilling pawn. Now, at last, he has a chance to find the answer — and regain the TARDIS!
Threatened and desperate, the Kro'ka abandons his behind-the-scenes machinations to confront the Doctor directly. But will both of them lose their way in the maze of the strange world in which they find themselves? A world in which a clock may have a cuckoo but no hands, a labyrinth imprisoning a paradox, and a Garden of Curiosities reveals something the Doctor has never seen before.
As the Doctor faces these challenges, Charley and C'rizz provide valuable help. But with the TARDIS itself at stake, the Doctor reaches deep inside himself to find some surprising new allies.

I was talking on Discord and accidentally spent an hour giving my thoughts on how well each new Who companion could take care of a baby. Note that I think most everyone on this list is capable of taking care of a baby for some amount of time. As such I'm adding how long I think they could do so/additional stipulations in bold. Also of note that a lot of these depend on when in their timeline we mean. I split some ratings based on this. Also also this is just for fun
So without further ado... How well New Who companions would do taking care of a baby (under the cut)
Rose Tyler: When we meet her she is so so young to be caring for an infant for a significant amount of time. But by the end of her time on screen? Sure. In EU content she's even got a kid. Rating: a few days at the start, long term at the end
Mickey Smith: Era specific. Definitely not for early Mickey. But once he's matured after spending time in Pete's World he could probably do it. Rating: maybe for an afternoon at the start, long term at the end
Captain Jack Harkness: Has had children canonically. This does not, however, fill me with confidence. Probably knows how to keep them alive more or less though unless their death would save the world haha who said that. Rating: inevitable heartbreak/10
Martha Jones: I'd trust her to do so at the start if she had to bc of her medical training and being slightly older/with her shit together. My confidence has only increased with time. Rating: most competent so far, could probably handle it long term if she had to right at the start
Donna Noble: Has successfully, canonically, on screen raised a spectacular daughter who is also a companion. A large portion of her time on screen in The Star Beast is dedicated to how good of a mother she is. Rating: companion I would trust the most with a baby for any amount of time
River Song: Another one that depends in part on place in the timeline and I'm not even gonna get into the thing where the Library makes her a parent or something at the end of that episode bc that feels forced af to me. But I feel like she'd lack confidence in her ability to care for a kid of any age, but take to it surprisingly well if she really had to do it. Rating: earlier in her timeline just no. Later in her timeline she could probably manage long term
Amy Pond and Rory Williams (they're a couple so doing them together): at the beginning they're also quite young (not even counting Amelia era Amy). They could do it but I think Rory would be picking up a lot of the slack for the same reasons I think early Martha could do it. Dubiously canonly they DID raise a kid (though it's unclear if it was from infancy), and in general there's so many timeskips they're a lot older and more mature by their departure and I think they'd be fine. Rating: carried by Rory to squeak out mid-long term success early on, but in a better position long term later in their lives
Clara Oswald: Clara has experience with children, yes, but ones that are SCHOOL age. Clara is not equipped to handle an infant. You can't be clever at an infant. Unless you speak baby. Maybe she forces the Doctor to teach her to speak baby. I doubt it would help. Rating: I wouldn't leave a baby with Clara Oswald for more than an afternoon and even that much is a gamble
Nardole: Has been seen looking after babies before. Seems reasonably competent at it. Up there honestly. Rating: long term right from the start. Or at least from his second episode he's just kinda doofy in THORS and there's a significant time skip after that
Bill Potts: While not as young as someone like Rose, her position in life is still one that makes caring for a baby for a significant duration difficult. Could she do it? Yeah probably if she really had to. But I want her to live her life. Rating: living situation complicates anything more than short term early on, probably capable of long term with resources even then
Ryan Sinclair: Chibnall companions are kinda nothing to me. Sorry. Please don't come at me for not being a Chibnall enjoyer. But it can be hard to get a read on them to me. Ryan is pretty young though so I'm gonna say best not. Maybe if he was written by someone capable of developing a character. Rating: short term would probably be okay
Graham O'Brien: Also Chibnall. In a better position age wise. Loses points for all the ableism with Ryan so maybe if the kid isn't disabled I guess. Rating: another short term candidate I suppose
Yaz Khan: Also Chibnall. Also young. Still probably not. I'm sorry canon Yaz is kinda nothing to me I know a lot of people really like her. Rating: competent enough for short term probably
Dan Lewis: Maybe the Chibnall companion I'd trust with a baby the most? I mean he's not barely an adult, and his main crime is outing someone which isn't really relevant to a baby. I think it's a bit outside his wheelhouse but he'd manage it okay. Though if he never unshrunk his house that might make it a bit more difficult for anything longer term. Rating: congratulations you get short term with longer term conditional on the assumption you have somewhere to go with said baby
Rose Noble: She's 15. But on the other hand she could ask her mom for help so if that's an option she's fine actually. Rating: probably a great short term babysitter, has the resources to get excellent assistance if she were to end up with a baby in the long term
Ruby Sunday: Another Quite Young companion and her introduction literally does feature a baby in her care getting kidnapped. She does get that baby back though and it's shown that she helps her mom with childcare a lot so big babysitter energy. Rating: short-mid term on her own, longer term with assistance

Just realised, Donna and Shaun are a great happy ending.
long lastings relationships aren't typical of Doctor Who. Not stable ones in just normal human lives.
Rory and Amy constantly fight to get back to each other.
Jackie Tyler is single, though she does get other world Pete back, that's once more fighting for their lives/ the universe brought them back together
Micky was hung up on Rose, I think the last ending he got was with Martha?
Martha's parents are split up, and both kinda mad over her Dad's new relationship
Martha herself? yes she ends up with Micky if memory serves, also was engaged if not married to the doctor guy who helped when she walked the Earth,
the relationships aren't shown as stable and are shown as outcomes from adventures for almost all the characters.
Sylvia is alone and I don't know if we even hear what happened to Donna's dad.
Now we're brought back to Donna and she's with Shaun and they are entirely in love, and committed, to the point that while Donna does check Shaun isn't getting jealous, it wasn't really a concern, it was asking for confirmation they had the same thought, "yeah, but not him" she was right in that too.
And it's wonderful to see this. To see a happy ending after her failed wedding to Lance, after that relationship in the Library, to see Donna with a great relationship, great family
Getting her memories and time with her best friend back is fantastic, but I'm just thrilled she got her family, her happy ever after
and terrified that the trailer of the Doctor saying the confrontation should be with him means Shaun or Rose get captured
Donna deserves her happy ever after

“Rose is actually happy in a parallel universe with a half-human Doctor.” - Russell T. Davies
Hello, Whovians — we’re excited to announce the #BringBackTentoo movement!
Sign the petition
In July 2008, millions of viewers tuned in to watch ‘Journey’s End’; where the Doctor and Rose were left hand-in-hand on Bad Wolf Bay.
While fandom has remained active, continuing to generate endless works inspired by this iconic pairing, there's sadly been little official content from the people who launched the ship!
Nonetheless, our devotion remains unwavering. We persist, loving the OTP; ceaselessly spreading love and fan-made content worldwide!
The purpose of this movement is to show there is still an audience that is very interested in revisiting these two. One that would love to see the Doctor and Rose together again, on-screen or off, living their best lives in Pete’s World.
Regardless of whether it’s a spin-off, comics, audio adventures, or — and this, we believe, is crucial — anything at all, we would just love to have them back in some way. We’ve realized that perhaps there hasn’t been enough collective buzz to bring this into reality, which is why we’re looking to rally up as much support as we can.
Already with us? Sign the petition! Our petition will be emailed directly to the powers that be; including Russell T Davies, Big Finish, the BBC, and more.
Have questions? Doubts? Need a little more convincing? Then read on…
Why now?
Because there’s never been a more perfect time for it.
Already, Russell’s return has been bringing former fans back in droves. Everyone’s waiting with bated breath for RTD2 and the sixtieth anniversary; plus Ncuti, David, and Catherine. With so many fans dipping back into the Doctor Who world, why not strike while the iron’s hot?
At the fifteen-year mark, it might never be this “hot” again!
Plus… nostalgia is a massive market.
Tumblr media
A return of Tentoo and Rose after all of these years would be the perfect cherry on top of all of it: closure for so many fans, as well as validation for the only happy ending a Doctor-and-companion pairing ever got in Doctor Who.
And don’t forget — fan campaigns work, especially in the social media age!
A spin-off — too much?
As much as we’d love to see David and Billie back on-screen together as the proper Meta-Crisis Doctor and Rose, we understand that we already have David coming back in a big way, as well as Ncuti Gatwa — our brand new Doctor. It’s a big, BIG ask, trying to get a spin-off out of this. We recognize that.
However, as famished fans who are living off of little more than canonical crumbs and dreams, we will greedily devour anything we can get.
Such as:
More Big Finish audio adventures
Big Finish has done incredible work for Doctor Who, including one of the only official ‘glimpses’ we’ve gotten into Pete’s World: A couple of short audios featuring Tentoo and Jackie.
Tumblr media
Big Finish understands and respects these characters, their relationships, and the overall source material. They’ve shown time and time again that they’re more than capable of doing justice to Doctor Who!
Audio adventures with a focus on the Meta-Crisis Doctor and Rose Tyler would be fantastic. Anything from their adventures with Torchwood and/or UNIT, imaginings of their life with a TARDIS, etc — there are endless possibilities!
Comic book adventures
In 2021, Titan Comics published ‘Empire of the Wolf’, a lovely comic book that gifted us with the best glimpse we’ve ever had into the lives of the Doctor and Rose in Pete’s World:
Tumblr media
It was a beautiful, if brief imagining of these two (and includes their daughter), but even so, the vast majority of the story involves Rose being trapped with the Eighth and Eleventh Doctors. We only get a few pages of Tentoo.
Comics would be an excellent way to dive into the parallel world again!
Novels
There are loads of Doctor Who novels with amazing stories about Rose and the Tenth Doctor (like 'The Stone Rose' by Jacqueline Rayner). But, here's the thing: there's just one official novel that dives into the whole Metacrisis and Rose relationship... And guess what? Fans are really craving content that stays true to RTD and Julie Gardner's original vision for this couple.
The good news is, there are tons of talented writers out there who would jump at the chance to create legit Meta-Crisis stories, and some would even do it for free!
An animated series
We recognize that this would be a tremendous undertaking, but imagine: You can do incredible things with animation that aren’t possible with film. It would appeal to fans of all ages, and Billie and David have more than proven themselves to be excellent voice actors. There are all sorts of stories that could be created in this medium.
But let’s say we went with the first choice…
A spin-off/miniseries
RTD has been very vocal about his plans for spin-offs. Billie and David are willing, and it hasn’t been so long that the pairing has lost relevance… Although, in Doctor Who, does anything ever really lose relevance? The show is known for bringing back old characters. Enemies, companions… Doctors:
Tumblr media
It’s obvious that David seems to have no issue with playing the Doctor. Furthermore, even Billie Piper has recently expressed interest in a spin-off!
In 2019, she told Doctor Who magazine:
“I would like to see a one-off dark comedy about Rose and the Doctor in the parallel universe”.
Then, even more recently in December 2022, she told Buzzfeed [on returning to Doctor Who]:
“If it was like four episodes all shot in London, then yeah, I’d be like a rat-up-a-drainpipe for that.”
Four episodes of Tentoo and Rose in London? What could be more perfect than that?
Wouldn’t a spin-off overshadow Ncuti Gatwa?
It doesn’t have to! If a spin-off were to happen, it wouldn’t necessarily have to happen immediately — it can happen after Ncuti has been established as the Doctor, and after RTD has re-established himself as showrunner. We’d just like for it to be part of the conversation, and let those in charge know that people are interested.
So… What about the people who didn’t like the ending?
Yes, there are some naysayers out there. People who refuse to acknowledge Tentoo’s legitimacy as the Doctor; others who refuse to believe that Rose could ever be truly happy with him, and vice versa.
This, sadly, is willful ignorance. Not only has Russell T. Davies, the man who wrote Journey’s End — who created Tentoo and Rose — confirmed that they're happy; the Doctor himself, David Tennant, will be the first person to tell you that those two are blissfully shagging their lives away at all times. And god bless him for it.
We’ve come to find that a lot of people who aren’t on board with the ending just didn’t understand it, which is fine — what better way to understand this pairing than by seeing more of them?
On that note…
How can I help?
Sign the petition!
Petitions are old school, but they are proven to be effective at affecting change, even in today’s world. We can preach to the ends of the earth about how much we want to bring these two back, but without numbers to back it up, the prospect is null and void.
Don’t just like this post — please reblog!
This is a grassroots effort that is counting on the power of fans to help spread the word. Unlike most social media platforms, there is no algorithm on Tumblr. Likes do nothing for visibility, so please reblog to make sure as many people see this as possible!
Participate in Tentoo x Rose Month
This is a multi-medium fan event for creating content of the OTP throughout all of July! All works will be featured on the @tentoorosemonth2023 page, with certain works even shared on the BringBackTentoo Instagram.
Buy the already-existing content
If you haven’t already, buy the ‘Empire of the Wolf’ comic. Buy the Big Finish audios ‘The Siege of Big Ben’ and ‘Flight Into Hull!’. Show these fantastic creators that we will gladly consume any content about these two that we can get!
Spread the word
Know anyone who likes Doctor Who? Any former fandom friends who might’ve outgrown all of this, but would enjoy more Tentoo/Rose content? Or maybe even just a random IRL friend who supports your obsessions? Link them to the petition!
Join the movement by following this page and our Instagram (which is brand new, give it time to grow ♥️). Keep on creating content, using #BringBackTentoo to tag any of your fanart, well-wishes, or whatever you like across platforms — just please be sure to keep it positive!
Feel free to DM/ask if you have any other questions, concerns, or ideas that weren’t touched upon in this post.
And please, for goodness' sake, be kind. This is a labor of love inspired by passionate fans and creators who just want to see our OTP again. ♥️

Do you think Rose Tyler went through a degree of parentification with her mother?
I'm not calling Jackie a bad mother. She clearly loves Rose a TON and did her very best in difficult circumstances. She was a young woman suddenly a widow having to look after a child all on her own in the midst of her grief. Grief that she clearly hasn't gotten over as she attempts to cover over it with lines of new men and a blur of personal, televised, and printed gossip
But it is Rose who was supporting the household in the first episode we see her. Rose who has to find a job once it's been literally destroyed around her. As far as I remember it's never even considered that Jackie would take on Roses load for a bit.
Jackie likely never got a reprieve after Pete died before she was thrown straight into single motherhood, no matter how overwhelming it must have been. This is likely why she has no clue how to offer Rose a rest to get over what was a likely traumatic event. she even describes it as such on the phone (the fact that Rose is not actually in fact going through symptoms of trauma is I feel pretty irrelevant to this, though it contributes to the feeling of Roses mental state being brushed off)
Jackie's dislike for Roses 'airs and graces' from working a high end shop, the negative tone towards how the doctor changed her, even for the better, I think it all stems from the fear of Rose leaving. If Rose becomes better than what she can offer and leaves, she takes Jackie's entire world. The last reflection of Pete, a potential and invaluable source of income, and most of all simply the person she loves and cares for most. She'd have nothing but a council estate flat, friends to gossip with, media to consume, and bills to pay.
My thoughts on all this were triggered by a gif set I saw where Rose on new year's tells her mother something along the lines of 'don't stay out too late' and Jackie's reply is 'you try and stop me'. In most situations this would be the other way round. It should not be the daughter half jokingly cautioning the mother about a night out. The ease and familiarity of the exchange makes me think that this would not have been the first occurrence of this. This isn't to say that mothers shouldn't have proper nights out, my own does, but the daughter should not be the one worrying if they are being safe.
And that episode with the absorbalof (I think that's how it's spelled) where Rose comes out at the end enraged on her mother's behalf. It is completely understandable, and I would probably be EXACTLY the same, but in the context of everything else I'm thinking about, it's a bit too fitting that it is Rose coming to Jackie's defence after a bad not-quite boyfriend.
The woman who sat with Pete as he died, who Jackie uses as a single piece of comfort to pass on to her daughter? That's also Rose.
And the alternate dimension is really more Jackie's happy ending than Roses, though they both get an alternative version of the man of their dreams. But Rose loses a big part of why she chose to leave home over and over. Her monologue at the chippy pre- bad wolf shows that, although the doctor is an appeal on his own, the life of going out there and seeing the universe, making a change, is something that the loss of gets under her skin like a restless itch. And she didn't get a choice, she had to learn to deal with it.
Jackie loses nothing. It's all gain for her. She has her daughter, who she cares about most in the world, her husband, who seems more devoted and successful than he ever was in her reality, and she has the money and big house that she never got previously. She never has to learn to work through her grief without covering it, it is undone for her (though I'm sure the ghost of the 'real' Pete will still linger in her mind)
Again I want to reiterate that Jackie is NOT a bad or neglectful mother. She is incredibly and realistically concerned with Roses safety (in a way that I've only really seen RTD write). But she is a woman who has her own issues to tackle and very few resources with which to do so. Rose would have had to grow up navigating around that.
Feel free to counter or correct any of my points, or to talk about something I missed, it's been lovely to see peoples thoughts on my other rambles! :)

(horny stuff coming up)

''The one who is hitting is Pete from the parallel universe, Rose and Ten had to prove to Rose that she had no reason to be jealous of Lucy, besides he could not contain himself when he saw her dressed as a maid, it was the second time and this time he did not resist the desire, luckily in his fake job at the Tyler mansion there were many rooms available to hide in, although they were quickly found, they should be quiet and fast.''
Sorry , i dont regret it

Last Words (My Headcanon)
The Doctor and Rose, asleep in their flat in Pete's World. Rose jerks awake, her dream playing through her head and her heart pounding. Except there's one thing wrong; she knows it wasn't a dream.
"I'm late now. I've missed it. It's midnight. Mickey's going to be calling me everything. This is your fault," she badgers to her mum. It's cold, her arms crossed in front of her while snow falls around them.
"No, it's not. It's Jimbo. He said he was going to give us a lift, then he said his axle broke. I can't help it," the older Tyler argues back. Their walking pace has sped up, both of them anxious to get out of the cold London air.
"Get rid of him, Mum. He's useless."
"Listen to you, with a mechanic. Be fair, though. My time of life I'm not going to do much better."
Rose stops her mum, placing a hand on her shoulder and rubbing it reassuringly. " Don't be like that. You never know. There could be someone out there."
"Maybe, one day," Jackie breathes, looking around at the snow which has started falling a little thicker. "Happy New Year."
"Happy New Year!" Rose grins enthusiastically, giving Jackie a tight hug. "Don't stay out all night." Jackie simply rolls her eyes as her daughter lectures her, turning to walk off in the opposite direction.
"Try and stop me."
Heading down the alleyway towards her flat, a low grunt catches Rose's attention. There's a man in the shadows, just barely visible. His brown trench coat keeping out the cold as his face contorts a bit with pain, bracing himself against the electric utility panel on the brick wall of the estates. "You all right, mate?" Rose asks gently, trying to get a closer look at him.
"Yeah," he chokes out, getting his footing and standing up a bit straighter.
All she can do is offer a small smile. It was New Year's after all. "Too much to drink?"
"Something like that." His voice is gritty and he sounds... exhausted. And he looks it too, now that the light has shone on his face a bit more.
"Maybe it's time you went home."
"Yeah," the man agrees with a nod.
Her smile turns into a grin as she prepares to go up the stairs and into the warmth of her flat. "Anyway, Happy New Year."
"And you." Rose turns away, walking towards the entry of the building. She stops in her tracks as she hears his voice from behind her again. "What year is this?"
The cold nips at her face as the breeze picks up. "Blimey, how much have you had?" Rose laughs, watching as he gives her a shrug. "2005, January the first." He must be absolutely sloshed if he didn't even know the date. It's the bloody New Year.
" 2005." It was more of a statement than a question. An affirmation of something, she simply just couldn't tell what. "Tell you what. I bet you're going to have a really great year." He offered her a smile but it was so sad. She could see it through the dark, hidden deep in his eyes. He looked at her like he was longing for something. For her, even.
"Yeah?" She grins at the man, who offers her another sad smile in return. "See ya." With that, she jogged into the doorway, sparing one last glance at this mystery strangers as she finally heads. up the stairs.
The Doctor wakes up as soon as she does, quickly moving to comfort her as she chokes out sobs into his chest. "Oh, love," he murmurs into her hair, kissing the top of her head and rubbing her back while she grips onto his shirt like he'll disappear at any moment. "What was it? What happened?"
"He's gone-" Rose tries to catch her breath. "I saw you before we actually met. It was New Year's. I thought you were just some drunk bloke but your eyes were so sad and I couldn't shake it. I forgot until..."
The realization hits him. "Oh," he breathes. "He's regenerating. You were his last goodbye." His reward, he says in his mind.
All he wanted to do was see her one last time.

i truly keep getting the most horrendous takes suggested to me in my for you page this week.
seeing a post about how rose is bad working class representation because she ended up with a rich father is absolutely ridiculous to me.
firstly, by journey's end rose is 24. she is an adult. the idea that she just sits down and takes pete's money is ridiculous to me. not even because that would be inherently wrong, but because this is not who rose tyler is. she is not automatically "mega rich," especially considering she was not even planning for on returning to pete's world until tentoo offered to spend their lives together. if anything i imagine she kept a rather safe emotional distance from pete those years because it would have been so painful to leave her family behind.
if you understand anything about rose tyler you should know that would probably not accept his money, and you should know that she would want him to redistribute his wealth to people in need. rose always, always asks people if they are being treated and/or paid fairly. this is a constant part of her character. her being on the so called "other side" in pete's world gives her access to make changes in an unjust system, to make things better for everyone because that is what she and the doctor would do.
they all work. for fucks sake, in the tentoo big finish audios jackie is a dinner lady at unit. she speaks at length about how hard it was to raise rose on the estate, how she and rose were (and continue to be) looked down on because they're "chavs." the importance of pete has absolutely nothing to do with money, jokes jackie made aside. it's about the emotional aspect, it's about second chances, it's about how different things can be (for better or worse) when you have different chances presented to you.
all of this is made more frustrating when people pull rose's importance down to raise another's. was rose perfect representation? no. was the representation she gave working class people important, especially in 2005? absolutely. writing a character off entirely because they weren't as good representation to live up to your standards of what "real" people go through unfair and narrowminded at best.
and honestly the idea that rose ended up happy and secure and loved is wrong reeks of misogyny and jealousy. the fact that rose has not been on doctor who in fifteen years and people still feel the need to drag her through the mud after all this time is appalling but it also proves how important she is to the show's legacy.
you're thinking about her. she hasn't been on screen in fifteen years and you're foaming at the mouth about her. wow.
