Uno è un fotografo e l'altro un pittore e insieme creano ritratti con immagini pop e colori vivaci. Dirottano, grazie a una singolare iconografia, l'arte classica del ritratto per creare un'estetica a metà strada tra il Baroccoe il kitsch. Il loro motivo preferito: le icone della cultura pop: Serge Gainsbourg, Madonna, Lio, Zahia, Stromae... che immaginano come Madonna, Marianna, dio indù e altri modelli di santità cristiana o storica. Immagini impertinenti e falsamente pacificate e patinate che nascondono un'attualità più velenosa, contraddittoria, conflittuale. Pierre and Gilles create portraits with pop images and bright colours. Thanks to a unique iconography, they divert the classical art of portraiture to create an aesthetic halfway between Barocco and kitsch. Their favourite motif: pop culture icons, who they imagine as Madonna, Marianne, Hindu god and other models of Christian or historical holiness.
