You've been in Liyue for a decent number of months now and, frankly, you already want to get away from here. Your superior was the Signora. This woman was a bit arrogant and narcissistic, but... She's never done anything bad, at least not to you. Moreover, she was the one who took you away from the House of the Hearth. Perhaps the reason for this was your quick adaptation to her and the environment in general, or maybe it was her personal reasons.

Anyway, she took you with Liyue to show you the world outside the orphanage and it was just amazing. A variety of food, clothes, plants, stones. This was all new to you a few months ago. Now, unexpectedly for yourself, you missed Signora. She didn't take you to Inazuma and said that she didn't need you there. And now you're just waiting for her in Liyue...

"... And that's how Shenhe came down the mountain for the first time in secret from me..."

You were sitting at the same table with the adepts and drinking tea. Absurd. Ganyu was sitting on your right. She was a little red from the previous story of the Cloud Retainer. Shenhe was sitting on your left.

"Y/n, is everything okay?"

You were startled by Xianyun's voice and by Ganyu's hand on your wrist.

"Yes, I was just thinking. I'm sorry I didn't delve into your story."

You looked at the lady with glasses when Shenhe assured you that you didn't miss anything. Xianyun only turned away from her for a second on this remark. However, her gaze quickly returned to you.

"Y/n, you look pale, is something wrong?"

"No, it's fine. Really."

You lied well for your age. The reason for this was 'Father'. You couldn't lie to her at all, but thanks to your attempts and training, if you can even call it that, you succeeded.

However, ladies around you were far from the most ordinary people and you didn't take this into account.

"Nonsense! You're pale and sluggish."

Shenhe's cool hand is on your forehead.

"Your forehead is hot."

One phrase, but it had a huge effect on everyone present.

"Hot? Then we should finish our little meeting as soon as possible."

Xianyun was the first to get up from the table, and Ganyu immediately followed her.

"Master, don't worry, Shenhe and I will escort her home."

"But I can walk on my own."

“No. Of course you can't. Shenhe, Ganyu, could you please bring Y/n to my house. I still have that medicine left. It put Shuyu on her feet the very next day."

Even before you could react, you were lifted up by Shenhe. It was a bit rude and unexpected. It reminded you of the 'Father' and made you freeze on a subconscious level.

"Shenhe, please be a little more careful. It scared Y/n."

"My apologies."

You're like a rag in her hands, practically not moving. Finally, you come to the house, from which Shuyu runs out joyfully.

"Master, you are back. And, Y/n, are you okay?"

The girl watches as Shenhe enters the house under the guidance of master and puts you in Xianyun's bed.

"Shuyu, don't worry, Y/n will be fine. One will use a special medicine on her and she will be the healthiest of all. However, she will have to spend the night with us, don't you mind?"

"Of course not, Y/n is my friend!"

"Then it's all settled. One will get the medicine right away. Ganyu, Shenhe, why don't you check on Y/n tomorrow when Y/n gets better? She needs peace now."

"All right, Master."

By the time they said goodbye, your temperature had risen more and, while falling asleep, it was difficult for you to determine who exactly said this Shenhe or Ganyu. All the sounds began to recede, and the body began to weaken. You saw the Signora in your dream...

At the same time, in another corner of the Teyvat, Arlecchino received the news of the death of the Signora. What a pity. It looks like you're going back to the House of the Hearth.

I don't know if they could even be called embarrassing. But they're definitely random.

The days in the Loufu were quiet. Everything seems to be peaceful once the whole crisis was resolved. That is.. until Dan Heng meet an "old friend"...

"Baiheng managed to scare Jing Yuan enough with her stories to the point he would bolted right out of bed out of fright. He wasn't able to sleep for days!" He says casually, sipping his tea. March and Caelus burst out laughing as the image of a frighten General comes to mind, the "all mighty" General, shaking like a leaf over some scary story from a Foxian. Their laughter is quite nice on the ear. It's been centuries since [Name] could enjoy moments like this. Oh and the look on the youngsters face is just wonderful. "Um.. [Name].. you don't really have to.." "Oh please, I insist."

Dan Heng shifted his gaze awkwardly amongst the group. Don't get him wrong, a reunion is always nice. But he didn't think it would be like this. Surely the elder would run out of stories, right..?

Oh how wrong he was..

"One time Baiheng was so dizzy from a flight test she fell out of the starskiff the moment it landed!"

"Wait, really?" March asked curiously. The famed starskiff piolet herself, can actually be somewhat clumsy? She thought the Foxian was perfect in all sorts of ways!

"Oh, I almost forgot! Jingliu had once become a walking cooler for everyone, her abnormally cold temperature actually has its use during intense heat."

"She what?!" Yanqing exclaimed. The Grand Swordmaster? Really? Caelus snickers at the mental image, everyone laying on each limp of the cold swordmaster's body just to cool off. What a sight that must be!

"And that one time where Yingxing was sick, Dan Feng nearly overdosed him with medicine. The prescription for short-lived species are different after all, but that somehow flew over his head."

Dan Heng remain silent at the elder's words, averting his eyes as he took a sip of his tea. It seems the High Elder isn't as "precise" as everyone says.

"Speaking of Yingxing, during his process in making weapons, he would craft some questionable items out. It's hard to describe but it's no doubt bizarre. The best way I can describe it is of a child who just discover pottery."

"They're that bad?"

"Bad? They were horrendous!!"

Caelus lets out a laugh at the other mental image, he could imagine what types of "weapons" Yingxing was creating and dubbed it as a prototype. Well at that point, might as well trust the process had become a mantra.

As much as people praise and hold the High Cloud Quintent in such high regards. They doesn't seem all that perfect when [Name]'s the one telling the story. The mighty group sounded more like friends messing around, having fun, and.. creating memories.

       Cloud Retainer has taken on many disciples in her time, and she has loved each and every one as if they were her own.

       It was, therefore, quite unlikely that she woukd cease to take on disciples anytime within the forseeable future. Her love was extensive, far beyond what most mortals would be able to comprehend, and her capacity for intimate and tight bonds was even moreso. She has taken on many disciples over the years, and she has loved them all like her own children.

       Perhaps it could be attributed to her adeptal instincts; she can recall many a time during which her fellow adepti, upon bonding closely with another being, became exceedingly protective of them. It was only natural—adepti lived for so long and were often affected by their more nonhuman instincts. It wouldn't be improbable to imagine that the need to bond with other beings would grow strong over so many years.

       ...Then again, it could always simply be attributed to her. In her mind, there was little need for any such justification like 'instincts.' She could scoff at the idea—she was no mere animal. 'Instincts' could not begin to fully explain the depth of her love and care; it was surely infinitely more complicated than the mere maternal urges that a simple crane, a wild animal, might have. She was infinitely more intricate and convoluted than an uncomplicated bird.

       (That, however, did not change the fact that she did tend to have bird-like habits. Preening, nesting in her own way... She preferred not to bring attention to that fact, however.)

       Regardless of the reason, the truth was that she was lonely, even if she vehemently denied it whenever someone brought up the idea. Mt. Aocang was... quiet, dreadfully so without the constant presence of Ganyu or Shenhe or any of her other disciples. She enjoyed the silence to an extent, but she could only entertain herself for so long without another being to share her knowledge with. Liyue Harbor was far more lively. Loud and chaotic at times, perhaps, but far less lonely than the empty nest that her adeptal abode had become.

       Maybe that was why she was so immediately invested in the little one who had accidentially bumped into her and was now apologizing profusely.

       "I'm— I'm so sorry, miss! I wasn't watching where I was going! I really didn't mean it, I..."

       'What a swift little thing,' she couldn't help but muse. She'd hardly even spotted them rushing her way before they tumbled into her legs. Their body weight wasn't even enough to make her stumble—if anything, they were the one that ended up getting thrown off balance. It was cute how small they were compared to her, really; it reminded her of Shenhe when she was a child, or even her current disciple, Shuyu.

       Ah... but she shouldn't be so quick to think fondly of them. No, surely this little one had parents of their own—a life of their own—to return to. She did not even know their name. No. Bonds should not be so quick to form.

       With elegant, poised grace akin to a gentle breeze rustling a tree's leaves, she knelt down, the motion putting an end to their sheepish yet hurried apologies. Glossy, innocent eyes stared up at her—even kneeling, Xianyun was still a bit taller than they were—with an amount of awe that would've made her feathers puff out in pride had she been in her illuminated beast form. She was not one to grow embarrassed at admiration, after all.

       "Where are your caregivers, child?"

       "Oh. Um." Their brows furrowed slightly. "...I don't know, actually."

       "Ah, are you lost? Come, then. One— Ahem. I shall reuinte you with them. I am certain they must be quite frantic in your absence."

       Before she could rise and offer her clawed hand to them, they urgently shook their head.

       "Oh, no! It's not like that, miss. Even if it was, I wouldn't want to trouble you at all! I would find my way back!" they insisted politely, waving their hands in front of their body as if to dismiss her concerns (though, Xianyun hardly thought it would be "troubling"; she was a bit surprised that they felt it so, or perhaps they were really just trying to be polite). It was then that she noticed the little wooden chick held carefully in one of their hands, but she did not yet have the opportunity to inquire about it. "I've been on my own for as long as I can remember, that's all."

       Oh?

       Oh.

       "Hm. Is that so?"

       "Uh-huh."

       "In that case, child, I—"

       A man rounding the corner and immediately prevented her from finishing her sentence. He was very clearly furious, approaching the child with such fervent determination that Xianyun could not help but wonder what nature of a troublemaker she must have encountered. Though... she really did not see them that way, which only made her infintely more curious about rhe situation at hand.

       Their expression seemed to fall.

       "You, kid!" he shouted, stopping just a foot or two away from them. "You can't just go around stealing whatever you please! Who raised you?!"

       "No, I..." They could not meet his gaze. "I was gonna bring back more mora to make up for it when I could, I just—!"

       "Don't give me excuses. I want the toy you've stolen returned, you understand? Hand it over!"

       Xianyun sighed, adjusting her glasses.

       "Enough," she said, rising to her feet. "How much mora will suffice? For reparations, of course."

       "Rep— reparations?" the man stuttered, then sighed. "No, no... look. You're the mom? Just teach your kid not to go around stealing. The toy's not worth much, but a kid who starts stealing this young will take far more important things in the future. So, teach 'em not to do it."

       Hiding behind Xianyun's legs, they couldn't help but stare upwards in wonderment. His attitude flipped completely when faced with a woman so much taller than he was, and with an air surrounding her that demanded such an impossible amount of respect. They honestly could not blame him for such an attitude change; they would too, they thought, if they were faced with someone like her.

       "Very well. You have my apologies on their behalf." She turned on her heel, holding out her hand to them. "Let us go, little colt."

       Colt?

       Bewildered but nonetheless beyond awestruck with this strange yet kind woman, they nodded, wordlessly placing their freehand in hers. Her sharp, hooked nails dug slightly into their skin; somehow, though, they couldn't be bothered to care. It didn't hurt much. On the contrary, it was oddly comforting.

       The walk was silent for a few moments, but then, Xianyun's voice demanded their attention:

       "You should pay quite the mind to your behavior in the future. Theivery is a significant offense in a land such as this—a land that regards contracts with the highest of respect. Had I withheld my intervention, it may very well have ended far worse."

       "I really didn't mean to," they whispered, little tears building up in the corners of their eyes. Even though she was someone they had only just met a few moments ago, disappointing her seemed... unbearable. Angering her would have been more tolerable. "Um... steal, that is. I didn't mean it. I just thought it looked really cool. I left whatever mora I had on me to pay for it, and I was going to try and get more so I could pay him the right amount... I swear I wasn't going to just run away with it..."

       She hummed. "Regardless of your intent, I will see to it that you do not do such a thing again."

       "Hu— huh? You will?"

       She scoffed. "Of course. Surely you did not expect me to abandon you on the side of the street again? As an elder, it is only right that I watch over little ones such as yourself, and little ones should not be cruelly left to fend for themselves."

       The tears on their lashes had dried by now. They even offered her a smile, giggling as they said, "Elder? I don't think you're old."

       "Oh? And what, pray tell, has led you to such a bold conclusion, hm?"

       "Well... you! You look very young, miss! I think elder women are very pretty too, but you look... young pretty? Um... what's the word again..?"

       "Youthful, perhaps?"

       "Yeah! Youthful!"

       As they rambled on animatedly, clutching the wooden bird to their chest, Xianyun's lips quirked upwards into an amused smile.

       It, of course, went unnoticed by them.

       In the few days that had passed since Xianyun welcomed little [Name]—they had bashfully introduced themselves to her in the middle of their rambling once they recalled that she didn't even know their name, and she returned the sentiment with greater confidence—into her home, she had put together a few simple toys for them to amuse themselves with.

       She was an inventor at heart. Even though these designs were not entirely her own, she made them hers with unique additions and more efficient features... of course, all while doing her best to keep the toys simple. They were for a child, after all. Mechanics, Xianyun's mechanics, were complicated enough for adults to understand as it was—a child would surely have even less of a capacity to grasp something too complicated, and her efforts would therefore have been wasted.

       ...But oh, how terribly wrong she now understood herself to be.

       Quietly and motionlessly, as to avoid drawing their attention, she watched with the growing warmth of fondness and excitement in her chest as the young one she took in meticulously pried open the toys she handcrafted.

       They were humming to themselves, gingerly laying out the parts in an organized manner so that nothing got lost or mixed. She was beyond impressed with the careful thought they had blatantly put into keeping track of everything; Xianyun was certain that most children would lose a small part or two, but as she surveyed their layout, she noted that every single piece—big or small, hard to overlook or easy to lose—was accounted for.

       Childish forgetfulness wasn't an inherently bad thing. In fact, it was quite amusing and endearing to those such as herself who had lived for so many millennia.

       However, she was infinitely more endeared by their sheer mindfulness.

       Their sharp gasp snapped her from her internal musings.

       "Oh— Miss... Miss Xianyun! I'm sorry, I—" They stumbled over their words, and they froze up somewhat. It was as if they wanted to hide what they had done but ultimately decided against it; she had clearly already spotted them, and they did not want to risk mixing up all the parts. "Miss Xianyun, I'm so sorry, I— I wasn't trying to destroy them, I just—"

       "—wanted to understand their internal workings, yes?"

       Their eyes went wide with that same wonderment they had displayed towards her a few days prior. "How... how did you know?"

       She almost laughed at their cluelessness. "You have taken them apart with the care and delicacy quite unusual for one of your age. This, one surmises, is only because you sought to sate your curiosity regarding these simple mechanisms and their internal functions."

       The grace with which she carried herself never failed to leave them in astonished silence. Xianyun hummed, sweeping them up into her arms as if they weighed no more than a feather (her utter, raw strength was another astounding feat in their young mind; she was so unimaginably admirable in a multiplicity of ways to them). Then, with steady caution, she kneeled to the floor and situated them comfortably in her lap.

       "Allow one to introduce you, little colt, to the basics of mechanics."

       Xianyun, they concluded, was an odd but genuinely kind woman.

       Though her manner of speech was sometimes strange and formal, and her grace seemed otherworldly in its nature, and her strength was assuredly not a feat that just anyone could achieve...

       She was tender. She was kind. She cared.

       Perhaps the world was not always so kind, but despite that knowledge, they had never felt safer than where they were now.

Klee's will be the only platonic one, (obviously).

Xianyun enters the room and her sight immediately lands on S/O laying on the bed, covered in bandages.

(Xianyun) "There you are! One has heard what happened to you."

(S/O) "Xianyun! S-Sorry to worry you-"

She shakes her head as she pulls up a chair, one hand adjusting her glasses.

(Xianyun) "Apologies are not needed. Knowing that you are still breathing brings me enough comfort. Now...-"

She immediately has a strange device materialize next to her, pressing buttons seemingly at random.

(S/O) "What the heck is that?"

(Xianyun) "One assumed that you would be bored waiting for your injuries to recover, so I have brought you this machine for you to pass the time!"

The machine rumbled for a few moments before a loud ding accompanied it and promptly fell silent.

(Xianyun) "It is a popped corn machine! Now, take some and tell One exactly what happened!"

S/O smiled and grabbed a floating piece of popcorn.

(S/O) "Promise you won't laugh? It's a little embarassing."

Xianyun gives S/O a smile back.

(Xianyun) "One makes no such promises."

In reality, she was worried sick, but hearing them joke around like this was slowly easing her fears.

Xinyan swings the door open quickly, almost accidentally making a hole in the wall from the knob.

(Xinyan) "S/O! Are ya here?!"

(S/O) "AGH! Y-You scared me, Xinyan!"

She rushes over to the bed before taking them into a hug, hearing them wince in pain and retracting.

(Xinyan) "Jeez, you're the one scaring me! How do ya think I felt, hearin' you got hurt enough to be hospitalized?!"

S/O gives Xinyan's hand a reassuring squeeze, making her calm down at least a little.

(S/O) "I'm sorry, I wish I could've told you sooner, but I was pretty roughed up."

She gives a big sigh before sitting on the bed and turning to them.

(Xinyan) "So, what in the world happened? What the heck beat the tar outta ya?"

(S/O) "You're not gonna believe me if I told you."

(Xinyan) "Try me."

(S/O) "...I-It was a boar."

(Xinyan) "..."

Xinyan has to fight back laughter, more than she ever had her entire life.

Amber opens the door quietly and gives a smile to S/O, her heart finally easing in its rapid beating when she sees they're okay.

(Amber) "Hey!"

(S/O) "Ow...! H-Hey, Amber."

She moves a little slower than usual, which gets S/O's attention.

(S/O) "Amber, you alright?"

(Amber) "Hah, I should be the one asking that..."

She takes a deep breath and gives a bright smile back.

(Amber) "I was just SUPER worried! The other Sisters told me you'd be stable but...-"

S/O extended their arms outward and let Amber come into their embrace, giving her a warm hug.

(S/O) "I'm sorry, Amber, but don't you worry. I'm not going anywhere. I bet you want to hear what happened, huh?"

(Amber) "You bet I do, now what hurt you?"

(S/O) "...A slime."

Amber's face seemingly freezes in place.

(Amber) "WHAT?!"

As much as her voice startled them, there was the energy S/O loved Amber for.

Sucrose was already aware S/O was hurt and visited them before.

But the reason for her visit was different than last time.

She stumbled into the room, a myriad of different small flasks in her arms.

S/O moved to help Sucrose, but she managed to sit them down at a nearby table.

(S/O) "Sucrose, what are all those?"

(Sucrose) "Um, I-It's a bunch of different elixirs that'll help you recover faster! I hope..."

(S/O) "Have...these been tested?"

Sucrose nodded her head yes.

(Sucrose) "They have, I tested them on a bunch of plants just yesterday and some slimes!"

(S/O) "Hah, am I test subject now?"

Sucrose's eyes widened and was about to stammer out a response before S/O held out a hand.

(S/O) "Sorry, couldn't resist teasing. Thank you for thinking of me, Sucrose."

A light flush dusted her cheeks as she shyly smiled back.

(Sucrose) "...Of course!"

Kokomi creates a tiny fish that nuzzles against S/O's face, making them laugh.

(S/O) "Hello to you too, Kokomi."

Kokomi giggles in response before sitting down in a chair closeby to them.

(Kokomi) "Gorou told me what happened, and I made time as fast as I could."

(S/O) "Honestly? I'm surprised you could at all, given how busy the Shrine is these days."

She shakes her head and gently caresses their cheek.

(Kokomi) "For someone I love? I always can."

Despite her calm demeanor, the moment she was hit with news of S/O getting injured decreased her energy by about -10000.

But, seeing them again increased it, and she spends every second she's free with them.

Kokomi even brings some books for them to read together, if anything to at least alleviate the boredom S/O must be having laying there.

A Knight kindly opens the door for Klee as she walks into (Y/N)'s room.

(Klee) "Mister/Miss (Y/N)!"

(Y/N) "Klee? What are you doing here?"

Klee hops over to their bed, her head barely poking over the mattress.

(Klee) "Master Jean told me that you got hurt beating up a bunch of bad guys! So, I wanted to have Jumpty Dumpty keep you company!"

A feeling of dread started to wash over (Y/N).

That was a good way to make sure their injuries became fatal.

(Y/N) "A-Ah! That's alright Klee, you didn't need to-"

Klee happily puts the Jumpty Dumpty into their arms, smiling widely at her own gift.

(Klee) "This one doesn't go kaboom, so Jumpty Dumpty can help you get better!"

Y/N took a sigh of relief internally, and instead dusted the top of Jumpty Dumpty's head.

(Y/N) "Aw, thank you, Klee!" For not killing me...

(Klee) "Uh-huh! I have to go back to my room now, but I hope I can play with you soon!"

(Y/N) waved goodbye to Klee before noticing she sneakily left a note near their bed.

It was incredibly crude handwriting, with a few of the words misspelled but it said:

"Don't tell Master Jean, but I got you some tasty fish! It's hiding with Kaeya!"

(Y/N) smiled at the note and shook their head.

(Y/N) "Hah, what a sneaky kid..."

And of course, Jean found out anyway.

Xianyun will never forget that day, The day where that 𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘤, sorry excuse of a father took her only, small child.

She wished she never met that man, never found him charismatic.. She wished she never fell for his smooth words and his calm, enigmatic smile. After such tragedies she faced, she didn't think that she was capable of being soft again, The only exception being 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 man.

She loved him oh so very dearly, She held him close to her own heart despite knowing just what little time they had together, but he ruined her trust, ruined everything that made them, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮. Broke the thing that made them the duo, the pair that was unbreakable.

It was never in the adeptus's mind to, Well to lose Shuyu of course. The adeptus was lucky enough to find the little girl sitting on a chair in Third-Round Knockout while listening to whatever tale the storyteller was saying, The adeptus can tell Shuyu stories! I mean of course, There was a person sitting next to Shuyu since it is a public space but, Why does the person look so familiar and unfamiliar at the same time? "Y/N, May one ask where this name came from?" The disguised adeptus spoke with seriousness, Looking way too intimidating to the passing traveler who only wished to listen to the tales of Liyue.

XIanyun spoke up, Cutting off Y/N midway through their sentence. "Is.. Is this an interrogation?" Y/N spoke nervously now, The sudden glare of the woman talking to them made them wish a hole would just swallow them up and take them away from this situation.

- For a period of time, you two were completely estranged from one another, an unfortunate side effect of her less-than-stellar history with your father. It's honestly a miracle that you managed to find and recognize each other later on in life at all, given how many lies and rumors clouded your understanding of your formerly close sibling. If it weren't for your timely use of a familiar exorcism technique, you two may have remained estranged to this very day.

- Shenhe ends up warming up to you rather quickly once her mind starts to fully process the situation. Something tells you that you're going to have to get used to being doted on sooner than later, with how tenderly she's already treating you, despite only having recently reunited.

- If anybody EVER dares to threaten you or harass you to any degree, they have essentially signed their own death warrant. There is no world in which she could ever forgive herself if any danger were to befall you. Even if you're the eldest sibling, it does not matter to her one bit. In her eyes, no matter your age, gender, or anything like that, it is her responsibility to protect you.

- You are easily her strongest motivation for improving herself as a person. Every step that she takes toward properly reintegrating with regular human society is—at least partially—done with the hope of making you proud and showing how reliable she can be. The thought of you is honestly just as, if not more, effective than the red ropes when dealing with crude individuals. She still might deck them though, if need be.

- For a while, very few people are actually aware of your shared ancestry due to the nature of her past and lifestyle. Many don't even recognize the fact that she's also human to be able to put two and two together. Still, those who are aware and have hung out with you as a duo always seem to comment on how it "makes total sense". If your personalities are roughly the same, they'll note how you're practically a carbon copy of one another. If yours are opposite, though, they end up noticing just how well you two balance each other out in a yin-yang type of fashion.

Xianyun, in particular, is a huge fan of you siblings. At some point, she's inserted herself into both of your lives far enough that she's essentially your adoptive mother. Bonus points if you take the time to write to her often or stop by for some afternoon tea.

- She tries her best with things like birthday gifts and the like. She really does. The problem is that she's not quite aware yet of what exactly constitutes an appropriate present. Unless you tell her in explicit detail what exactly you want for each holiday, you're basically leaving it up to luck whether you're getting a cute trinket or a pile of herbs you have absolutely no use for.

- Once she got her job as a waitress at Wanmin Restaurant, you better believe that she's bringing home leftovers for you on the daily. True, her own tastes are a little... peculiar, but that doesn't stop her from enjoying whatever goodies she managed to snag for you vicariously.

Speaking of, she really appreciates it if you stop by for a meal during one of her shifts. As much as the majority of customers who come in nowadays know to be on their best behavior, every now and then, a particularly obnoxious person winds up waltzing in and making a scene. Having you around really helps a lot in calming her spirit down once the altercation is over and done with.

- Another thing she'll greatly appreciate is if you decide to go out in the mountains and train with her. Your two fighting styles already are quite similar given your history in exorcism arts, so it feels only natural to her. Plus, it puts her mind at ease knowing that you're capable of defending yourself in a worst-case scenario.

- While she may still struggle somewhat with emotions, she's incredibly skilled in the matter of physical ailments—both detecting them and treating them, provided it's something curable via herbal remedies. You won't even get the chance to feel sick before she's already guiding you back home, quietly taking note of your temperature and other vital signs.

She gets that your taste buds aren't as accustomed to bitter flavors as hers are, so she does her best to disguise those notes with honey or other pleasant ingredients. Still... you may need to wash whatever concoction she gives you down with a generous amount of juice or whatnot. To her credit, at least you end up recovering far faster than you ever would've otherwise.

- Physical contact is a bit difficult for her to adjust to at first, admittedly. Simple things like feeling your forehead for your temperature come to her just fine, but hugging? Feels completely alien to her.

That isn't to say that she wouldn't eventually grow to enjoy it, though. Particularly if you're the sort to initiate that sort of stuff, she ends up actually enjoying it far more than she first expected. This cozy, warm feeling feels strangely familiar, even if she can no longer recall a time in which she would have experienced it before.

- Overall, Shenhe is easily the greatest sister you could've ever hoped for. It's a shame that you two spent so many years apart, but at least now you can make up for it as much as you like!

Ever since your disappearance Guizhong was desperately looking for you. She tried even making inventions to make it easier to find you.

And of course others had started looking for you as well. Zhongli among his duty as an archon found it still to use every second of his free time to search. Xianyun and Ping got other adepti to help as well.

However, a search party could only last so long before giving up hope. Ping was first who tried suggesting Guizhong to move on, she pretended to accept this... But everyone knew better on how she truly felt.

It was a dark time for her indeed. Nobody could calm her for she missed you too dearly.

The realm she created for you was left untouched, she locked it with a puzzle lock not even the wisest could solve and the mightiest could break.

Sometimes she would enter though, just to look at your belongings, sometimes hum you a lullaby; hoping you could hear it somehow...

Seeing her in such distress, Zhongli fully committed after announcing Morax's death. The deal with Tsaritsa was a perfect opportunity to get out of something that took up such portion of his time. Even if by that point he was just putting up appearances.

Nobody knew it was you who looked for them as well. As many Khaenr'iah survivors you were trying to find your way. You wondered how long had passed... If your mother was still well...

The realm of the abyss was dark, or was it a domain? You had no idea. You were weak and surrounded by enemies wherever you went.

You tried to find your way, not really knowing how the time was passing. After a lot of time and effort you finally made it out so now it was time to head to Liyue.

The path felt familiar, but it felt different- you could tell a lot of things had changed... But you only looked for your way home.

With each step a familiar melody slowly started to bless your ears. You ran towards the source of the sound and that's where she was...

When she saw you she couldn't believe it, it took only a moment before happy tears came down like waterfalls and she pulled you closely to embrace you, feeling like if she were to let go you'd disappear again.

While sobbing she continues the lullaby, and as she calmed down she stopped. Suddenly feeling protective she started checking if you weren't hurt. You may be all grown up now but it won't stop her from worrying.

She was all over the place with her emotions but still found it in her to listen to you. She was so glad you were okay... Overjoyed even.

During your reunion Zhongli noticed you two, although you've never really been too close... After you saved Guizhong he noticably gotten softer on you. And that was confirmed once again once he joined the family group hug.

As the others were notified of your return- you got pretty much the same overprotective behavior from Xianyun, who also checked if you were okay and insisted she holds a feast in your name... Which made Guizhong competitive and started thinking of more ways to welcome you back.

A lot has changed during your time away... But the way everyone cared about you didn't.

Now it was time to properly catch up with everyone on everything... 500 years sure left a lot of gaps to fill... And quite frankly more songs your mother could sing to you.

As the commotion that the adeptus created finally subsided, Xianyun was back in her little house along with Shuyu in Liyue. Shuyu and the Adeptus sitting on the couch, The little girl swaying her feet while the Adeptus was in a trance. Wondering if she really had just done what she did to her own child, her own child, She can't believe her first action towards her child would be to.. to slap them.

After minutes of quiet and frankly, tense silence, Shuyu supposed she should break the uncomfortableness of everything. "Ms. Xianyun.. Umm, Can i ask a question?" The child spoke as she finally looked at her very obviously gloomy mentor and guardian, Her quiet voice breaking the awkward and tense silence that fell between the two of them from the moment they stepped inside the small house.

"Of course, Shuyu.. Just as long as it's not about what happened today." The adeptus quietly replied to the little girl, Lowering her head as she continued to think about what she had done. It was obvious that the Adeptus's action broke her, Despite her rough and well-rounded exterior.

"Oh." Shuyu just replied before going back to swaying her feet up and down. Cloud Retainer was a bit confused as to why her disciple just remained quiet. The adeptus finally rising her head. "Well.. Are you not going to be asking One a question?" The adeptus asked the little girl, Turning to look at the small child sitting next to her.

"But.. Ms. Xianyun, You said not to ask anything about what happened today." Shuyu answered stoicly as she blankly looked at the adeptus. Cloud Retainer was a bit bewildered by that sudden statement that she even let out a small huff of amusement.

"Hmm.. alright, huff One believes to at least answer One's disciple's questions.. And, One does have some explaining to do." Xianyun spoke with hesitance. Perhaps it was the vulnerability she was finally showing that made Shuyu realized that 'No. Whoever she saw hours ago was never her mentor, It could never.' That is what she hopes for atleast.. After all, 𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙥𝙩𝙪𝙨 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙮 𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙠 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩 𝙞𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙬𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙙.

"Ms. Xianyun, Why did you slap Mx. Y/N?" Shuyu spoke up, Finally asking the question that Xianyun had dreaded to hear, Sucking in a breath through gritted teeth. Even when she knew from the very start of this conversation that her disciple would ask that question, It was quite literally plastered on to the little girl's forehead.

"Mm.. Even One didn't know why one had done so. Perhaps it was.. One's attempt to run from the past that has haunted her to this day." The adeptus spoke solemnly, Revealing an inch of her intentions to the little girl. "Mx. Y/N is a kind young person, Don't mistake it Shuyu. What One have done should never corrupt your view of the Fontanian traveler." Xianyun spoke sternly and motherly towards Shuyu who just nodded.

"Ms. Xianyun, What provoked you to slap them?" Shuyu asked suddenly, The child's bluntness showing once more as Xianyun this time was more than surprised.

What exactly did provoke her to slap them..? Surely it was not some fight or flight instinct, She herself was an adepti! Why would she be terrified of her own child. but.. that also means her child is half adeptus, Capabilities stronger than those of normal, average people. They do have her blood after all but that does not explain it in the slightest. Was she...

"How about we cut this questioning for the time being, Hm?" The adeptus hummed in a question-like manner, Standing up from the couch as she began to go to the kitchen on their small home. "Oh.. alright then." Shuyu mumbled as the little girl watched the Adeptus prepare their dinner.

Minutes and hours had passed since that conversation, Shuyu had long since went to bed but the adeptus was still awake; wide awake in fact, in the dead of night. A growing pit of confusion and void growing inside Xianyun's heart, She didn't know what was causing such things.. The adeptus let a heavy sigh escape her, Looking up from her windowsill and staring at the full moon that glowed brightly against the dark void of the canvas like sky.

Long enough and soon the news of her slapping a foreigner would reach the ears of her other disciples and fellow adepti, None could really contend against the whispering walls of Liyue.

Even Mr. Zhongli should have known by now, At least that's what she remembered from their conversation. The name of such archon.. In her eyes, names were more often than not useless, Holding no true weight and worth aside from titles. 'God of Contracts', 'The God of War', She could very much name off every title Morax had. Why bother remembering names..

Had the Adepti of Moon and Rain on my mind today, and though I do understand the logic of their decision of doing nothing to curb their boss's Unhealthy coping methods through the AO3 comments, your old tumblr post of Xianyun pssibly having platonic yandere tendencies makes me think.

A quick wikiwalk into Adepti mentions that quite a few of them (specifically the Illuminated Beasts) became illuminated upon making a contract with Morax, and my brain wondered if that had some effect on those specific Adepti?

Did some bleedthrough of Morax/RexLapis' inclinations get slipped in, or an inclination (though one that can be noticed and thus be dismissed with further thought) to go along with his decisions get slipped in unintentionally? And then I remembered, that of the Adepti that want reader to return, Xianyun's a Crane.

Those birds mate for life, and then I went oh no wonder she's one the Adepti that would prefer moongoddess!reader to return to Zhongli. As a married couple for thousands of years, of course her logic is that they should remain together. It's just... what you do when you get hitched? You stay together joined at the hip until one of you dies? Xianyun might not have batted an eye at reader leaving/moving on if Rex Lapis was actually dead, but he isn't! He's alive! Of course, that it would make him stable again (or at least we wouldn't havr to deal with his losing it) is also a big bonus.

So I'm guessing, in her mind reader absolutely has to come back, crane logic fueled by her own issues/grief at Guizhong's (another weak goddess, who might have lived if she had her own devoted protector by her side at the time of her) death. Cloud Retainer lowkey projecting the image of reader being so weak and helpless (not helped that she turns into a defenseless bunny sometimes) that it's a greater kindness to remain under Rex Lapis' care.

I did not know this before, but I suppose with the reader being vulnerable both being compared to other gods and to the form of other animals (with her alternate form being a rabbit/bunny) this does make sense. I also do believe that along with cranes, in many forms of mythology and media, dragons also mate for life, but rabbits do not.

I do think after the death of Guizhong and when Morax took this weak goddess as his wife, that Cloud Retainer might have seen this as her second chance. So throughout those thousands of years she would constantly be looking out for the reader, and even taking care of her while her husband was away. Then when she finds out Rex Lapis’ death was hoax, she might even be in denial that his wife would ever leave him.

Then by the time of her actual story quest and the end of it where she moves to Liyue Harbor and she sees Zhongli, but the goddess is not by his side. Why is she not there? Surely he was just joking when he mentioned the goddess has left? Certainly he meant that in a way that she also lives a mortal life now? But no, she has truly left and while it’s hard for either of them to understand, going off just pure instincts, his wife chooses the form of a rabbit so it is only natural that she would move on to something or someone else
