I think it'd be really disheartening to work so hard and to try and build yourself as an artist, and try and get good at your craft, and then, like, never make something new again. Like, I hope I'm writing new music when I'm 60, and I hope that– and, god willing, there's gonna be someone, somewhere that let's me play it. ✗
telling people I am learning piano and getting the response of "oh, I tried to learn a while back too, but there's something wrong with my fingers. they just can't move that way."
they can, with practice. It's like learning how to do a cartwheel or a handstand or the splits. It's just...it's practise. it's not just about knowing and memorizing the right notes for a song... the hands have gotta undergo actual physical training as well in order to make the right shapes and to have fingers move independently from one another. Literally, these folks are typing like a bajillion words per minute on their computer keyboards. Their hands are perfectly mobile and physically able... Everyone's fingers start off feeling inflexible and impossible to move properly when they first start piano. It's a physical exercise. it's like gymnastics for your hands 😭 those fingers are not gonna be flying across the keyboard, just because the eyeballs saw what a chord progression looks like.
Anyways, if ur a person who always wanted to learn an instrument but have fingers that specifically do not work right on an instrument yet work perfectly fine in whatever other daily applications you apply them to, this post is for you. Try again with the knowledge that this is a physical training exercise just as much as it is a creative one. It's hand gymnastics!!
Was not expecting to do a harp cover first thing in the morning but last twilight is just that powerful. Here’s my rendition of this OST based on what Day/Sea plays at the end of today’s ep :P
WAIT but sutekh introducing the gods said the trickster is god of traps and THIS WHOLE EPISODE they’ve been going oh but it must be a trap! this seems like a trap! and obviously that’s cause it’s a trap but! TRICKSTER!!
and what if RUBYS the trap and the trickster plucked her from some timeline or like, her bio mother pleaded with him to save her from something so he displaced her in time and put her at that church as a trap for the doctor and so he could pull sutekh through?? by the power of memory because time is memory!!
Sure ray is THE guitarist of all time however. There is something so deeply mesmerising to me about Frank's playing style. I have watched this video of him at riot fest playing venom like 50 times. Look how damn smooth and effortless it is.
pianist!edwin headcanon that he regularly seeks out public use pianos when he needs to clear his head (like the ones at malls/airports/etc). everyone that walks by assumes its an automatic player piano, so he can perform for an audience without it being suspicious
also, the image of edwin flirting with charles via teaching him to play piano has bewitched me. i know from experience that the inherent eroticism of teaching your crush to play piano is off the charts
sorry to classic rock post again but i truly believe that if led zeppelin had made a high fantasy rock opera movie it would’ve unlocked some sort of idyllic utopia. we have the wall, we have tommy, they should’ve completed the trifecta. give me a don bluth lord of the rings movie scored by zeppelin or give me death.
The insert song from the epilogue, titled "irreplaceable days," was just so sweet that I got the urge to make sheet music for a solo piano arrangement of it. The Romanized title is just "Houseki no Hibi"
when the amazing devil said “pick your chords well loves, but sing your notes off key” and when they said “tell them all your names” and when they said “we’ll be all that you hate about yourself so you can grow” and when they said “we were the winter nights so you could be the morning snow” and when they said “life begins by leaving and our love is shown in the letting go”
