To put context: Poddie's father blamed her for her mother's death, so he always mistreat her, and when he remarried the situation became worse, her father, stepbrother and stepmother abused her, and even her stepbrother tore off her jaw and mouth, causing her to become mute. She eventually escaped from that toxic habitat, met Jainnir and Rossitt, and the three became a couple and joined the Toppat Clan.

I was for years and years firmly in the camp of ‘non fiction is boring/stuffy/etc’ until literally last year when I started reading my old timey dog books. And having since run out of old timey dog books I’ve moved on to other topics including the lives and antics of bushrangers (and relatives of mine) and I just… real people are so dumb and I love it, and people were always dumb, including professional cattle thieves who kept day by day accounts of their crimes in a diary and then allowed the police to get ahold of it, ultimately ending up in a prison sentence.

If you ever think a criminal or thief character in a book is too audacious, lucky, or stupid I promise you they have nothing on what people were historically doing in real life

Also yeah, Poddie is in a Lesbian Poly Relationship with her best friends Rossitt and Jainnir, and if you've seen the short comic I made of Poddie and Carol, you might have noticed she's mute because of her missing mouth and jaw, so she always wear a mask to hid her missing mouth and jaw, thankfully she still has her tongue, but that doesn't save her from getting mute because of her stepbrother who aggressively rip off her mouth and jaw (this was before she met Jainnir and Rossitt).
