Kaeya, cavalry captain of Mondstadt! A pleasure to meet you all~ 23, he/him.

My traveling companions and I fell into a rift recently and are currently separated. I’m not sure what part of Teyvat I’m in, and my vision doesn’t appear to be working, but at least I have a new companion.

I’m quite surprised that no one’s spotted us yet, haha. I think I’ll fly under the radar for as long as possible, though. Just as a precaution.

Note relating to the actual genshin part. The only other faller chars planned (as of rn) are the ones he listed. I also don’t know much abt genshin or furina/lynette/alhaitham but I think studying their voice lines and wiki will be good enough ngl.

Song: Vs Shadow Lugia

To capture the rampaging apex of a heinous project is one thing... to save a corrupted god is another. The second to last day of Favril brings a childhood icon of mine; Shadow Lugia, or Project XD001.

Gale of Darkness was my very first Pokemon game of all time, and even when I was but a small bean, I knew this was a creature in need of rescuing. I go wayyyy back with this game for sure, especially with how I lost my original copy at one point but got a new one quite a number of years ago and got to see some of my old Pokemon. It was insane for sure, and last month, I managed to transfer everyone all the way from the GameCube to the Switch. An absolutely mindblowing experience, I didn't think it would be possible, but here we are.

Real talk, I need a port/remaster of the Orre region. Orre's schtick with the Shadow Pokemon will forever be the most iconic to me. I'd love it if others could experience my first steps into Pokemon as a whole with it!

so for a bit of Pokemon culture history that actually could be lost to the times, I'd like to briefly mention Female Shadow Pokemon.

When Gen 3 first started with Ruby and Sapphire in 2003, all 386 Pokemon were programmed into the game. (flexing on Modern games tbh.) But because RuSa only had like, 200 available to catch in it, and gen 2-3 transfers weren't a thing, this means 186 pokemon simply weren't available without cheating. One of those? Ditto. Yeah, the daycare slut wasn't a tool we could use. This made female pokemon incredibly valuable because that's how you could breed them. Want more of your starter? Hope it was female! Fossils? Same!Luck out and find a Feebas spot? Be sure to get a female! etc etc.

Then Pokemon Colosseum came. And while now it's mainly remembered for its story's gritty tone and the slightly higher difficulty for a Pokemon game, at the time it released a good number of the shadow Pokemon weren't available in RuSa! for example, the Johto starters & legendaries, but also Pokemon like Tyranitar, Shuckle, Houndoom, Furret, and Togetic. So just a silly assortment of newly available monsters!

But still no Ditto. So that meant when getting these new Pokemon in the game, you'd want to be resetting their (often one and only) encounter to make sure it's female so you could breed more. And Colosseum is not a quick game, and you have to view the credits before you can trade. So it was a pain in the neck if you needed to go back and get a female.

This of course changed a few months later when FireRed and LeafGreen released, which DID have Ditto in it, as well as the remaining missing dex entries. (Well, they made Lugia an event for some reason, but then Lugia got his own game with Gale of Darkness.)

But yeah. You wanted to catch female Shadow Pokemon in Colosseum. This brief and now antiquated bit of strategy would likely never occur to a person who wasn't there for that very brief period of time. like 5 months tops. and looking at gen 3 holistically and in retrospect, why would it matter? Ho-oh was the only Pokemon that you needed Colosseum for, everything else became available elsewhere, and future gens would make significant enhancements to breeding anyways. But at the time, it did matter.

Ditto was never unavailable in a game after gen 3. Genius Sonority, the company that managed to make a whole 3D Pokemon RPG that released on the GameCube in the one year between RuSa and FRLG, still works with The Pokemon Company. They do Cafe ReMix. You'd think they'd pick GS over ILCA to make BDSP, considering they still work together, but apparently not!

There's no greater point here, I was just reminiscing and realized most people who weren't neck deep in the 2004 Pokemon scene probably wouldn't ever know about the weird situation. And I know y'all like niche situations.

“Eheh, glad to see you too.” Jet reciprocated.

Another firm squeeze and the Lugia would let him go, though as he did he eyed Jet up and down, a brow rising. “I thought you’d know better than to show at a place like this looking like one of your “animays”. 

“I’m in uniform!” Jet spat, a flush of red rising in his cheeks before he could regain his composure. “A-Anyway, I’m not here for the party. I’m on a mission.”

Ginjiro looked on with curiosity, an "Oh?" escaping his breath.

Always straight to the point when it came to his work. Jet continued: “There’s been some trouble down in the Orre region. Another group of criminals under the Cipher alias have popped up. Same motives as before to make Shadow Pokemon. But this time it’s been reported they had a Lugia at their side.”

I made this guy long, long ago. And I had the urge to draw him again. I swear, you can ask me to draw like Nicholas Kole or even Miura’s Berserk but a the mention of the Pokemon art style my body fills with dread. 

Anyway, my memories of this cute little fellow are vague. I think he was some kind of reverse Pokemon Mystery Dungeon character, aka a Pokemon that became a human. From what I remember, his mother, dying from a vicious poacher attack (or something else idk) begged one of the more powerful legendaries to help hide her hatchling son in exchange for her own life. Said legendary, I think it actually was a kind of shadow Lugia, used magic to disguise Jet as a human.

And something something he was adopted by a nice grandpa gentleman who had lost his own kid, you know how those things work out sometimes, and Jet grew up not knowing he was a Latios. 

Of course, as these kinds of stories go, the truth eventually came out and one day Jet discovered he could turn into a Pokemon. Despite that, he still genuinely believed he was a... person. Just one with pretty cool superpowers. And because he been a human for so long that wasn’t actually far from the truth. Shadow Lugia’s magic works in mysterious ways. Jet was no longer purely a Pokemon, nor was he entirely human. He had become something in between.

Pretty sure the story turned pretty dark after that with jet being too dumb to keep his powers a secret and being hunted by both poachers and evil teams as a result. (cause hello?! A kid that can turn into a legendary Pokemon!) Wish I could remember the rest. Mnah well.

having a no good very bad health day so i've decided my trainersona DOES in fact have a lugia on standby. as a treat. bc fuck you. 💖

current loose trainersona idea + some art:

they did in fact get through most of the johto league, went hog wild, burned out a bit after all of the Commotion around catching lugia (need to brush up on this, my memory is fuzzy, but i'm firmly in the "there are a bunch of legendaries they're just reclusive and hard to catch" camp so they're not like. taking The One And Only Lugia lol.), took a break to travel for college in kalos, got into a poison sting accident w a nidorino / nidorina while traveling near geosenge (and was saved by wild-but-eventually-partner sawk), and re-joined with their family who had either moved to coumarine in kalos OR wedgehurst in galar.

(i'm planning a swsh replay as ren once i'm done with x so i can compare the Vibes of the two places. also so i can dress him up HEHE.)

they officially retired their league challenge on the basis of permanent damage sustained from the attack. even if they could have somehow physically managed victory road, the brain fog made on-the-fly strategizing basically impossible.

if in coumarine: they're usually either in their family's home at the top of the cliffs, or they've ridden their scolipede down to the harbor to draw.

if in wedgehurst: they're either in their family's home on the outer edge of the town, or they've ridden scolipede to the lake at the end of route 2 to draw. basically "place with fresh air where they can ride their bug horsey to a body of water to draw some landscapes".

undecided if they do streaming on the side or not. after their intense league challenge and their accident they've become a little snippier... a little deadpan snark. but they aren't good at relaying sarcasm, and they DO have good jokes but it takes a while for them to form, so the quick-on-their-feet "sarcastic snarker" jokey archetype of streamer wouldn't work for them -- they just come off as mean unintentionally. and they can't be peppy or actively entertaining or anything. maybe they just stream to an audience of a couple of friends and the occasional stray chatter who finds their stream on accident.

hennywaise! all this to say. i want to ride my bug horsie and fly on my big-hands birdy and sit on the shoulders of my punch guy. i wanna ride a funny little Guy to local towns for a day without it being a whole Ordeal.

i want to be on a date with ren, when it's getting late, and he's like "oh shit how are we gonna get you home safely if the sun's already going down?? dangerous pokemon might be around!!!" i turn to him and say, "oh don't worry about me, i have a safe way home. =v= " i pull out a pokeball, toss it behind me, and out comes a giant shadow of a legendary bird with frightening glowing eyes.

and then i turn to it and its form settles into a big cuddly Wet Bird with Big Hugging Hands and i bunt my head into his head and scritch his chin. ren's on the ground, thoroughly spooked, bc Um Why Does My Frail Partner(???) Have A Legendary Bird In Their Back Pocket Like It's Nothing?? Who Are They Actually?????? and i can turn around and casually smile and reach out to him like "want a ride?" while he's still having a Moment.

i snagged all of greevil's pokemon in one try last night! finally beat xd!

since the strategy for eldes was to leave ninjask alone so you'd only have to deal with one shadow at a time, i thought the next best thing for greevil would be to leave a non-legendary shadow in the field so i wouldn't have to face two birds at once. and that worked really well

i had breloom for spore but i had to use it so many times i almost ran out of pp (and it was ohko'd at one point). i brought shadow snorlax, salamence, and lapras to just sit there and take attacks (also leaving a spot open for lugia) and only snorlax fainted, so i could've kept going a while longer

also did my best to keep track of the turn count so i knew when i'd get better catch rates by switching to timer balls (which happened just before catching the last two)

now i guess i'll fight through mt battle 3 times for the johto starters (probably doing what i did in colosseum--use water spout kyogre and have a second pokemon cover anything resistant to water and shedinja, and play it in dolphin on pc so i can speed it up a bit)

i also want to do the story involved with the lucky egg quest but i don't care for battle facilities so i may just cheat my way through the orre colosseum

then i can finally get back to working on my living dex project before bank maybe shuts down

throwing ideas against the wall (a la spaghetti) abt how their adventures affect them and I think Gwyn’s gonna lose a couple fingers at least between bw and bw2; she and zekrom get Got by kyurem under ghetsis’ control and while they survive by zekrom reforming into the dark stone and taking gwyn in with it, they still get hit with a nasty amount of glaciates and while zekrom is able to hibernate to recoup that damage, gwyn is just kinda kept in stasis w that frostbite and when she’s freed even though Nate’s Arcanine is there to warm her up it’s not enough and loses something

Kaeya patted Borealis on the head, taking a look around the odd rocky outcrop he’d called his home for the past few days.

“Well, no use in hanging around, is there.”

Borealis roars in agreement, and unbeknownst to Kaeya, lets down the cloak of shadows he’d put up around them.

The man grabs the empty picnic basket he’d stored his belongings in, and glances hopefully at the Lugia. “Think you can get me down there, my friend?”

Borealis seems to debate going along with this, but eventually relents and kneels down so Kaeya can mount his back.

The two fly down and Kaeya dismounts, glancing around at the scenery. He chuckles at the sight of the creatures shuffling around, but starts at the sight of a person.

“Ah, hello there!” He startles them, and is then confused as they turn in horror and see the massive pokemon leaning over him. Kaeya frowns slightly, a bright smile is usually enough to win people over, is it not?

“I was hoping you could give a wandering traveler directions to the nearest town?”

Serpent of Chaos| She/her | Giratina*

Giratina is the goddess of the distortion world and is known as the serpent of chaos. She used to reign over other universes and worlds, but after the god war, she has only been able to claim distortions world and small pocket dimensions as her own. Giratina is a quiet and mischievous god; she rarely answers other creatures prayers. During Arceus's slumber, while the God War was in full thrive she was the one who mostly reigned chaos and thrived in it. Destroying multiple lands and homes, she made only a few alliances, but in the end, she just betrayed the other legendries by going off line. Because of her constant lies and betrayals, she hasn’t been seen in the best of light, making her feel quite lonely in her space other than the souls to keep her company after the war.

You could say Giratina is for fault starting shadow pokemon chaos; while spending time in her realm she heard a familiar voice praying to her before seeing it was a Lugia entertaining the Soul Guides thought of wanting to wreck all new chaos she gave her anti-matter turning the Lugia into the first shadow pokemon named Omen.

re: your post asking for asks. Do you have any abandoned wips you haven't had the chance to talk about but Want to? About say, the Sinnoh or Johto kids

SINNOH IVE HAD A FEW. Both fic wise and art wise.

One of them I’ve had is the scene where Dawn and the boys meet her Absol on route 202. Lucas mentions that it’s not really native to the route, since he hasn’t seen it before. But it isn’t until she catches it, at the absol’s insistence, and it’s registered fully in their pokedex that they realize that Absol is a pokemon that foretells disaster.

Another one that I’d like to finish is the events of the akashic record. Going over what they saw, what Volo did there, but most importantly, their debate over what to do with the world. Dawn specifically wanting to destroy the world, and Barry wanting to rewrite the timeline so the world leaves them alone, both so their trauma wouldn’t have to happen to them anymore and their pain will stop hurting. Them being put in the same situation as Team Galactic, but being close to enacting what they wish to accomplish. But they, especially Lucas, ultimately choose to love the world instead, saving it.

As for pure ideas, no progress, I wanna write more simpler moments for them. Such as stuff in Hisui like Lucas meeting his Petilil, Barry meeting his Arcanine, stuff with Yuki being a big brother mentor to them. Another thing is like to do is write about Dawn encountering the legendary stones, learning about what they are, and choosing in a split second’s decision that she wants to live. Fusing the legendary stones with herself and her friends.

I also wanna write more stuff relating to the distortion world, as I’m a big fan of the distortion world in my verse and it’s essentially become a mini arc of Sinnoh’s itself. But I haven’t gotten a chance to.

Some ART I haven’t finished includes stuff like Dawn and Lucas’s decision to follow Barry into the distortion world, despite knowing it would potentially kill them. There’s also a piece where they’re all sitting down and resting, a moment of quiet for them. But other than that I haven’t drawn for them in a while.

I’ve been meaning to as of late though… I miss creating for them lately. But art block has been hell to combat.

Johto has no real wips but ideas for writing piece have been swimming around in my head, especially relating to Kris.

One of these was a scene between Kris and Bill before her death, a regular moment for them. Specifically Bill helping out with her hair dye, since Kris was never good at it and her brown hair color was showing. Before fast forwarding to when Lyra’s taken her place, Bill looking at her and noting that Kris’s roots were showing.

Other fics I’ve had in mind was Ethan exploring Kris’s mindscape, which shows her memories in GSC tinted glasses. And another time Kris gets so desperate to keep Lyra in cyberspace she manifested Shadow Lugia out of desperation. As well as the moments leading before Ethan goes into cyberspace, where Bill nearly dies and Lyra’s unconscious body collapses into Ethan’s arms.

I’ve also had some ideas for mini arcs, since Johto is split into those, focusing on individual characters. Whitney and Bugsy I’ve had pretty clear ideas in mind, especially for . Personalities. Whitney’s a himedere and Bugsy’s kind of a bit too obsessed with creepy crawlies but. They have issues Ethan needs to solve.

I DO have abandoned WIP art for Johto though. Art involving Kris losing her head, as beheading is one of her shared motifs with Lyra. As well as art involving Silver’s escape from Team Rocket, and his memories with Red and Mewtwo afterwards.
