Under the soft glow of string lights and amidst the delicate ambiance of blooming flowers, Bea took in the unexpected scene before her. Poppy, usually brimming with confidence, leaned against the railing, her gaze lost in the dusk sky. With a tender step, Bea approached, her presence going unnoticed until her arms gently encircled Poppy's waist.
"Have you been waiting long?" Bea's voice, a hushed whisper, brushed against Poppy's ear. The faint strains of their favorite song in the air, creating an intimate backdrop to the moment. Poppy's attire exuded impeccable elegance, though a hint of nerves can be seen in her poised demeanor.
Poppy startled, yet her lips curved into a smile as she turned, finding solace in Bea's embrace. "I've missed you," she confessed, a touch of longing tinging her words. "Why did you take so long? I couldn't help but wonder..."
A mischievous glint sparkled in Bea's eyes as she leaned in, brushing a gentle kiss at the corner of Poppy's lips. "You know me better than that," she murmured, a soft laugh threading through her words. "I'd never betray your trust. My heart belongs to you alone."
Poppy's smile widened, a mixture of affection and playful teasing. "Oh, I know." she admitted, her voice a gentle caress against Bea's chest as she nestled her head there. Together, they swayed unconsciously, dancing to the melody that enveloped them.
In a moment pregnant with emotion, Poppy reached into her clutch, producing a small ring box. With a mixture of vulnerability and determination, she held it out to Bea. "I've been wanting to do this for a while now," she confessed, her voice carrying a tremor of anticipation. "Bea, will you marry me?"
Surprise painted across Bea's features, a bright laugh bubbled from her lips. "Yes! But you beat me to it," she marveled at the beautiful ring Poppy slid into her fingers. Bea's hand reached into her coat pocket to reveal another ring box. Playfully, she raised an eyebrow. "I've been carrying this around, waiting for the perfect moment. Only you could make me kneel." Chuckling, she gracefully descended to one knee, extending the ring towards Poppy.
As their fingers intertwined, exchanging rings and sealing their commitment, a radiant smile graced Bea's lips. "You're going to be my wife and I am yours." Bea mused, her voice tender and full of promise. "It sounds great—it sounds like a dream come true. My future wife, my fiancée." Poppy’s joy was palpable, a reflection of the sheer bliss that enveloped them.

gorgeous.
based on this post i made recently because i have zero chill.
OR, the one where they meet again years later and maybe hate isn’t what we think it is.
-
Poppy hates her immediately. again.
a loud laugh rips through the ball room, slides seamlessly between mingling guests and gentle music. Poppy's attention snaps away from her parents' friend's cousin's son who's droning on about rowing and his private equity firm and about how it was oh so lovely to summer in Florence this year.
Poppy sips her drink, makes an effort to not roll her eyes, and tries to focus back on what... Angus or Anthony (something with an A, she thinks) had been saying.
and then there's the laugh again--loud and alive and unapologetic. no one else seems bothered by it. no one else even bats an eye at the disruption.
Poppy cranes her head to look around the ballroom now, fully forgetting about Arthur or Andrew and everything he had been saying. and then she sees her.
her in the dark dress shimmering in the light like the goddamn inky black midnight sky. her with the toned arms and long fingers holding gently onto a flute of champagne. Poppy's eyes dip to the slit in her dress that runs dangerously high up her thigh. up, up, up and then--
Poppy sees her face.
and she thinks no, it can't be.
and the universe hums and says oh, yes, it can be.
she flips her hair over her shoulder and for one glorious second, the world around them stops, they share a quiet smile that hides years of unsaid truths, and Poppy thinks that maybe, just maybe, she'll be able to get out of this unscathed.
then the world roars back into focus, she is smirking now, and Adam or Alexander is gently touching her arm and asking if she's alright.
"sorry, what was that?" Poppy says, blinking it all away and trying not to think about her racing heart.
"i was asking if you wanted to go for a walk," he says, "my place isn't too far from here."
"oh, uh, no, thank you." Poppy tips back the rest of her drink, leaves the empty glass on the table, and ventures deeper into the ballroom, hoping that she can get lost for the next few hours.
she grabs another flute of champagne from a passing waiter, takes one long sip, and decides that it's too claustrophobic inside. she can feel a warmth in her cheeks and a tingling itchiness beneath her skin.
she steps out into a small outdoor area, where the sounds of the party are muffled by the thick stone walls. Poppy decides that she will give herself one minute. one minute to breathe and freak out and curse out whatever force of the universe thought that this would be funny. one minute to do all of that and then pack it up and go back inside with her head held high as she braces for an assault of questions from her parents about why she screwed up yet another perfect and ideal match.
god forbid she be a person and not some status symbol for her parents.
Poppy's just about to go back inside, just about to pack it all back in, when she turns around and comes face to face with her--AJ Hughes.
"i thought i saw you across the room," AJ says as she reaches out to gently push a loose piece of hair behind Poppy's ear.
Poppy flinches away from the touch.
"ouch, really?"
"what do you want?"
AJ shrugs and actually has the audacity to look shy or nervous or unsure. Poppy has never hated anything the way that she hates that.
"i just thought..." AJ starts.
"thought what? that you'd walk back into my life after six years and try make a mess of it again? i am the best i have ever been and i don't need you dragging me down to your level. so if you don't mind--" Poppy pushes past AJ and at the last possible second, AJ reaches for Poppy's hand.
there's barely any contact. AJ's fingers barely touch her hand, but it's enough to make Poppy stop and look back at her. it's enough to send a spark of energy coursing through her veins and setting her nerve endings alight.
Poppy snaps her hand back. she doesn't say anything, can't say anything because the shock of it all renders her brain to mush and has her heart beat thundering in her chest.
she makes her escape quickly after that. doesn't say anything to AJ as she leaves her alone outside. doesn't even bother to say anything to her parents--she'll take the verbal lashing tomorrow when she wakes up hours after them and they accuse her of all sorts of things.
the outside air is cool against her flushed cheeks; reminds her that summer is well and truly over and that fall is setting in.
Poppy hails a cab and deeply exhales when she falls back against the seat. she decides that tonight was a one time thing. a one time lapse in judgement where she let her guard down and AJ caught her. it doesn't even matter really, because she won't ever have to see AJ again.
another six years will fall away, and then six more after that, and again and again, until she's so far removed from the life she's living now, that the name AJ Hughes will be the echo of a memory.
it's barely six weeks before Poppy's mingling and dancing and drinking at another gala that her parents have dragged her too. this one's to raise money for sick kids so she feels less bad about being here, but still wishes her parents would leave her alone for just one night and not try to set her up with someone.
she dodges another invite home, is always firm yet polite about how she does that, because her parents would never let her hear the end of it if someone took offence to something that she said or did, and she's on thin ice as it is with them. has been for years in fact, and can't quite seem to mend what was broken.
sometimes just as she's about to fall asleep, when she can blame it all on a sleep-fogged brain, she thinks about what her life could have been like had she just done something different. had she stood up to her parents all those years ago. had she stopped pretending that any of it made her happy. had she just accepted what AJ had been so willing to give her.
that last one always comes right at the end, right as she's about to fall off into sleep. and sometimes those what ifs bleed into her dreams and leave an ache in her chest when she wakes again.
Poppy moves easily between the other guests and even plucks another flute of champagne from a passing waiter. and just as she turns back around, Poppy sees AJ across the room. again.
and after a second that stretches on for way too long, where Poppy's heart beats dangerously in her chest for something that she refuses to acknowledges even exists, AJ returns to her conversation as though her entire world hasn't been shifted. as though Poppy's the only one experiencing this.
Poppy huffs. fine. ignore her then.
ignore ignore ignore. Poppy can do that.
the nights and galas and events carry on after that, bleeding and muddling together. sometimes there are sit down dinners, and sometimes--rarely--Poppy and AJ are seated next to each other and have to both play like civil acquaintances in front of everyone else at their table.
mostly though--mostly--Poppy doesn't entertain a single thought of AJ. although sometimes she wonders if by not thinking about her at all, it actually counts as thinking of her. that just winds up frustrating herself more and she reaches for more champagne from passing waiters.
and then some time at the end of winter, when the snow is slush and the sky has a hazy grey tint, Poppy makes a mistake. she's alone with AJ. although not alone alone. they're on a packed elevator, pressed shoulder to shoulder in the back.
AJ keeps one arm folded over her chest at first, tries her best to keep some space between them, but it's all so pointless because Poppy can still feel every minute movement from AJ.
so they aren't alone, but it sure feels like they could be, because for all her efforts, all Poppy can think about is the way that their arms press together.
and then--then then then--AJ moves her arm from across her chest down beside Poppy's own arm.
Poppy doesn't move, doesn't dare breathe or look at AJ.
AJ brushes her fingers against Poppy's, and then Poppy does something regretful. she forgets where they are and what they are and-- everything. she forgets it all and holds AJ's fingers in her own. holds on so tightly and desperately wishes for the elevator to slow or stop altogether.
she feels warm all over and wonders where it all went so wrong.
and then the elevator stops, dings, and the doors slide open.
Poppy releases AJ's hand and follows everyone else off. but AJ stays with her back against the elevator for a moment, and Poppy allows herself one more moment of weakness to look back.
Poppy wonders how the doors haven't closed yet. thinks that maybe this is the universe again trying do something-- nice or cruel? she's not too sure.
"we could be happy," AJ whispers, not that she needs to, there's no one else around.
and her words stab into Poppy's heart and twist and dig and burrow in so deep she doubts she's ever be able to get them out.
everything around her slows for a moment. Poppy can see the doors beginning to close, can see that AJ's not going to get out, can see this moment slipping away. can see all the other moments from years ago and years from now playing out in a montage in her mind, all slipping away.
and she wonders why why why it all has to be so stupid and messy and complicated and-- she steps into the elevator just as the doors shut firmly behind her. and in that same breathless second, AJ bounces off the wall, meets her halfway, and drags her into a perfect kiss.
she hates herself a little for refusing this, for spending so many years unhappy. because if what she feels right now with her hands in AJ's hair, and AJ's on her waist, and their lips locked together, is any indication of what she'll feel tomorrow and next week and years from now--
"promise me," AJ says, breathing the words against Poppy's lips. "promise me that we'll try, because i can't--"
"it'll be hard work."
"i know."
"i'm stubborn and mean."
"i wouldn't want you any other way."
"i promise." Poppy kisses her and then again for good measure. "i've missed you."
"i can't do another six years without you."
"you won't have to."

(Gonna use Queen B MC's default name because fucking Bea is a perfect name for her)
I have so much to get off my chest about this rn -> i'm chewing through my bars
!!! So the thing about Queen B is that there's only two LIs right? But Bea gets the option to flirt with and sleep with a whole bunch of other people. And the difference between these two sets of choices are shown by the icon that appears when you have a romantic moment with them.
So for the two LIs any romantic/sexual moment is followed by a -> ❤️
And for casual flirting/hookups it's followed by a -> 👄
And in Book 1, you get multiple opportunities to romance the two LIs but only about a couple opportunities per character to flirt with the other characters
And then, in Book 2, suddenly, this changes! Suddenly, you're getting almost as many chances to flirt with/sleep with Poppy (Bea's arch fucking enemy) as you are to romance the two LIs. But still her icon firmly remains as 👄.
Because she's not a Love Interest. Bea and Poppy hate each other. They're constantly trying to ruin each other's lives in the most Evil ways possible. At most they're enemies-with-benefits having a hatefuck to work out the tension. Bea straight up just Evil Laughs while thinking about killing Poppy using her bare hands on a regular basis
But then,
But Then, it starts becoming obvious that they're having fun together. Whether they're plotting the other's ultimate downfall or just sniping at each other this is fun for them. Bea accuses Poppy of never having met anyone more interesting & fun than her, and Poppy accuses Bea of being obsessed with her. And they're both right.
And then Bea starts joking about Poppy being in love with her, which Poppy never outright denies
And then Poppy compares Bea to a dog follwing her around, and Bea cheerfully reminds Poppy that she likes dogs, and not only does Poppy not deny it, she agrees by saying she's always had a thing for strays
And then Poppy starts saying insanely romantic things while they dance together, like how Bea makes her more herself/ths best version of herself (more cunning, manipulative and straight up evil of course)
And then Bea starts calling Poppy adorably cute nicknames like "Pop" and "Poptart" (while obviously ruining her life of course)
And then at one point when Bea teases Poppy about liking her and gets a scoff in return the achievement that pops up is "De-nial isn't only a river"
But through this all, it's still 👄. Because it's not Romance. They're still gleefully trying to tear each other down to use the other as a stepping stool to their own success. There's no actual Romantic feelings here, right? They're just flirting with their enemy as one more thing they can hold over the other. They're just flying a little too close to the sun.
And then at the end of Book 2 if you choose Bea's final moments after the gala to be spent with Poppy, you skip ahead to the graduation;
Rightfully, this should be It for Poppy & Bea. The last day they see each other. They don't ever have to meet again. Not after all the horrible things they've done to each other. Nothing binds them.
There are reasons why Bea will still be involved with the two Actual LIs because Zoey is her best friend & partner in crime, and Ina/Ian has instant sexual chemisty with her and is fully in love with Bea whether or not you choose any romantic options for them. There's nothing like that binding Poppy to Bea. Because even if they do have fun together they also spend an awful lot of time wishing to never see the other again - and now there's no more excuse left for them.
There's a difference between ❤️ & 👄 characters, and it's made obvious from the beginning that there's nothing more to 👄 options, there no strings attached at all. So that's the end.
Unless, Bea spends her last moments of the gala with Poppy.
Because then, during her graduation speech she starts talking about the most important person to her in Uni, the one who made the biggest impact in her life, the one she can't let go of, and it's Poppy. And it's all said with a sincere yet mocking edge to it, because that's what they's like. And Poppy is fucking furious. And where Bea & the LIs would have exchanged "I love you"s here, Bea & Poppy exhange a "I loathe you"
And then you know what happens, you know what fucking happens!!???
A Fucking ❤️ pops up and the entire series just ends.
Do you see why I'm tearing my hair out!???? The end of the fucking Queen B series is the start of Bea x Poppy's actual romance. It's an open ending for them and the only thing you can do is imagine where they go from here and it's beautiful. They're always gonna be plotting to destroy the other and they're always gonna daydream about the other's death by their hand but now they're going to do it while falling in love.

Well in that case, i have new request for u and thank u for writing previous. Poppy and mc are in a relationship and its poppy's birthday, so mc surprises her by taking her to spend time with her dad Art like in story poppy memtioned in letters that how much she wanted to meet him but cant bcz of piers. Please keep twin out of it like there are no twins. Thanks in advance. You are great.
I had this started but never finished. I had to practically dust off my idea journal to jog my memory. (I am being a little dramatic) I tried to do a quick edit so sorry for any mistakes cuties. Sorry for being awol again.
Happy Birthday
Poppy could feel the migraine beating against her head. Each surge of pain, only made her angrier. All the Zetas in the meeting felt like they were playing catch with a bomb, one wrong move, and everyone was dead.
“For bid day on Friday, we thought the theme could be Wizard of Oz because there is no place like Zeta.” Ohio clicked to her next slide with a picture of the Zeta house with a yellow brick road leading up to the front steps. Listening to all the girls get giddy about the theme only made her migraine worse.
“Everyone, could you shut up! I don’t want to sit through any more presentations so Ohio you are in luck. You, Chloe, Hayley, and Taylor will work on bid day. If you all fuck this up you can pack your bags.” Poppy hit the gavel against the table and got up to go to her room. “Meeting adjourned.”
She pulled out her phone to text Bea to see if she wanted to hang out. Her migraines made her feel clingy. All she wanted was to be cuddled in bed with her girlfriend.  Since dating Bea some say she had softened and lost her touch. It wasn’t that she lost her touch, she just wasn’t as angry anymore. Poppy no longer had to hide a huge part of herself anymore. She could finally be free to be herself. Her parents weren’t always on the same page, but it was time to live for herself not them. Even though they weren’t excited about her newfound partner, Bea Hughes, as long as she stayed number one her parents were satisfied. She needed to keep her position as head bitch in charge, no one would dare to take it from her either.
Hughes
Want to come over and keep me company?
I have a headache and need attention.
Sorry BB I have to help Zoey with her
setlist for Lil Nos F. After though I will
swing and give you some world famous
Bea Hughes cuddles.
She threw her phone onto her bed. Her migraine needed to be gone and fast. It seemed like the perfect time to hit up her favorite tea place to help with her migraine. She changed into some more casual clothes and pulled out her jewelry box. She grabbed her favorite necklace Bea got her around the time they started dating. She admired the pink poppy in the middle with the black center. She looked at the bottom of the jewelry box and contemplated for a moment. After putting on the necklace she went over to her door to make sure it was locked and sat on her bed. She pulled up the false bottom of the box. Pulling out a stack of letters she went through the letters she never sent to Art Nakamara.
It had only been four months since she found out the truth about her family. She was home for the weekend for some business event she didn’t care about.
Piers was trying to impress a mogul from another company and he needed his token family to parade around to make himself seem perfect. Poppy had on one of her favorite pink dresses that was customized just for her. She was forced to talk to the mogul’s son Harrison.
“We were out on the lake for like a month. It was a great time, it would have been better if you were there in a bikini.” Harrison moved closer to Poppy to put his arm around her. He smelled like strong leather and tobacco.
“I’m allergic to water, sorry.” Poppy got from under his arm, eyes stinging from the cologne. She practically sprinted to the bar, she needed a shot of anything right away. “Hit me with a shot of anything.” The bartender slid her a glass with clear liquid and before he had time to turn Poppy downed it. It was smooth, but burned like hell going down, just what she needed. She turned and was met with her mother.
“Poppy, what are you doing at the bar alone? Where is Harrison? He seems like such a nice single boy. Cute too.”
“He had to go to the restroom. I am sure he has women practically lining up to date him mother. I am however off market. I told him I would meet him at the bar” Poppy wasn’t sure if her mom believed her lie, but she couldn’t really care. Her parents were acting strange, which says a lot because her parents weren’t exactly like most. They haven’t been in contact as often. Weekly phone calls have turned monthly. They haven’t had the easiest time accepting Bea, but she couldn’t continue to live for them she needed to live for herself. Poppy was going to need six more shots to just get through the night.
“Just make sure you are a good hostess to him. We need to make sure the Vanderwald’s leave happy.”
“Yes mother I know. I will make sure he leaves…. Content of course.” Her mother must be out of her mind if she thought she would spend anymore time with that boring ass boy.
The miscellaneous shots she took were finally kicking in. She pulled out her phone and looked through Instagram. She saw a picture of Bea back at Belvoire. It looked like her and Zoey were in their dorm. Poppy couldn't help but admire her girlfriend. She hated that she had to miss their night to schmooze these boring people. The alcohol she drank gave her a great idea though. She sent a text to Bea and hoped her plan would work.
About an hour later Poppy met Bea and Zoey at the door relieved she had back up now.
“What took you so long?” Poppy was running out of excuses to dodge Harrison all night. Bea enveloped Poppy into a hug.
“We had to get ready. If I am going to be around the Min-Sinclairs I need to look my best.”
“She changed her outfit like four times while freaking out.” Zoey was tired of watching Bea change her outfits back at the door.
Bea playfully pushed Zoey, “She is lying. It was traffic too.”
“I am just glad you are here to save me from the annoying Harrison Vanderwald.”
“Oh Yea, the guy that got kicked out of Belvoire for trying to bribe his professors.” Bea had a class with him and remembers him being such a dick.
The night went on with less bumps than the beginning. Harrison found someone else to leech off of in the night. People were finally leaving from the Min-Sinclairs and Poppy could finally take a breath.
“Thanks for the invite Pops.” Bea enveloped Poppy in her arms.
“Alright you two I will be waiting out in the car. Thanks Min-Sinclair. Bea don’t take forever or I am leaving you.”
“Yea Yea Zoey. I will be out in a second.”  Bea goofily grinned, holding Poppy, excited to be alone with Poppy for the first time tonight.
“I missed you Popcorn.” Bea kissed her girlfriend.
“It’s definitely the alcohol making me soft but I missed you too.” They just held each other for a moment until they heard the sound of a stomach grumble. “Hughes have you eaten anything all day?”
“Well we were going to go to get pizza, but I got excited by your message.”
“Bea Hughes choosing me over pizza. You really do care about me.”
“I absolutely do Pops.” Bea places a soft kiss on Poppy’s forehead. Her stomach grumbles even louder this time.
“Alright let’s get you a snack”
Poppy pulled out one of Bea’s favorite snacks. She had secretly been requesting this snack because eating it always reminds her of Bea. She would rather shave herself bald then tell Bea this.
“Ooh my favorite thanks Poppy.” Bea kissed Poppy’s forehead before indulging in her snack.  Poppy’s heart explodes everytime her girlfriend lightens up.
After an angry text from Zoey wondering what was taking so long, Poppy and Bea started walking to the closest exit. They heard a whispered argument taking place.
“Ana if this gets out I will be a laughing stock. How could you be so fucking careless. The stock would plumet and then what of the fancy life I have given you.”
“I know, I am sorry. No one knows of this. Not even Poppy. As far as she knows you are her father.”
“Yea no one except me, you and any decent private investigator. I will take care of this like always.”
Poppy and Bea ran to the walk in pantry to avoid Piers from catching them on their accidental eavesdrop. Poppy felt like the air was sucked out of her lungs. She collapsed into Bea’s arm and quietly sobbed. Piers was not her father and her mother kept her from her bio father.
Poppy was lucky to find one private investigator not under Piers thumb. She was given Arts name and found out all she could about him. He was a well loved preschool teacher. He would supportive of his students and even as adults they would come visit him to catch up. Everyone saw his like another parent in their life. She felt robbed for missing our of know her real dad and stuck with Piers. Piers was controlling and not at all affectionate which as a kid made her question her self worth. Bea slowly helped her through her feelings and downfalls. She wishes her girlfriend wasn’t so busy because she could really use her cuddles right about now.
Bea felt bad about lying to her girlfriend but she was trying to desperately figure out what to give someone who has everything for their birthday. She has gone through a thousand ideas all of which she felt were not good/expensive enough for the girl who swiftly stole her heart. She barged into Zoey’s room and threw herself onto her bed.
“Bea what if I were naked. Knock at least next time!” Zoey lectured without even looking up from her laptop.
“I would have closed my eyes. I need some help from that beautiful mind of yours.”
“You are lucky flattery will get your everywhere with me. What’s the problem roomie?”
“I don’t know what to get Poppy for her birthday. I have brainstormed for weeks and came up with diddly squat.”
“ That’s like picking a gift for Satan themself. Ow watch the laptop” Zoey rubbed her the back of her head that was assaulted with her fluffy pillow.
“Don’t be dramatic that was practically a cloud. Now please help me with this dilemma so I don’t end up sad and single.”
“First of all you are being dramatic and second of alll nothing wrong with because single. Most people will agree you have melted Poppy’s ice princess facade. Even if she doesn’t admit it she loves your ‘from the heart sappy shit you do’.  Just think with that big heart of …” Before Zoey could finish her sentence Bea jumped off her bed and ran out.
Poppy held Bea’s hand while she drove. She paid attention to the hum of her car and the warmth of her hand. Her hands felt empty without her phone, but Bea insisted on her leaving her phone at the Zeta house. She didn’t need much convincing wearing a blindfold for a surprise. She wasn’t going to show it, but she was just happy to be in Bea’s presence. It was like feeling a calm wash over her mind. She vented about her day and how annoying the Zetas were during the presentations. They drove what felt like hours away from the University.
“Okay Pops I need you to do me a favor. Stay here while I go get something. No peaking or else I will withhold kisses for the next week.”
“Are you even allowed to be so cruel on my birthday?” Bea kissed Poppy quickly before running into the mysterious location. Pops just listened but none of the sounds were out of the ordinary. After about 5 minutes Bea came to Poppy’s door and opened. She helped her out of the car and handed she her favorite tea.
“Don’t tell me we drove all this way for you to poison me.” She took a sip and recongized it being one of her favorite drinks Matcha. “Hughes I know you did not make us drive all this way for something we could go about 5 minutes from campus to get.”
“Poppy if I wanted to poison you I wouldn’t have done it in somewhere so public. But no it’s not just for the tea we had to come here for you birthday gift. Take of your blindfold.” Poppy took off her blindfold and felt like she recognized where she was. She looked around and noticed a man walking towards them.  He was a bit shorter than she was and he was smiling. She recongized him from the pictures the P.I. sent her as well as when she googled Art Nakamura , her bio dad.
“Hello, Poppy” The man beamed at her. “Happy Birthday” He held out a bouquet of flowers. Poppy hesitantly took the flowers.
“Hello Mr. Nakamura.”
“Please feel free to call me Art.”
“ Thank you for the flowers Mr. Nakam– Art. Could you give Bea and I a moment?”
“No worries I will get us a table in the cafe.” Art walked into the cafe and Poppy turned to her girlfriend.
“What the fuck were thinking, Hughes?” Poppy shouted not worrying about the looks from passerbys. “How did you know about him? Do you know what could happen if Piers finds out about this? I could loose everything! Do you not fucking think!?”
“I was just trying to get you a good birthday gift and you have everything and I thought maybe it would be nice to meet him and get answers for questions you wanted. One of the nights I stayed over the letters were out and I accidentally read one of them. I didn’t say anything ,but the emotion just pour out of them and it seemed like you really wanted to meet him.”
“Those were private! Bea I can’t do this with you. Please just leave. I will find another way to get back to campus.”
“But Poppy you don’t have your phone.”
“I don’t care. Just go.” Poppy shouted at Bea. Her chest felt heavy because she felt bad for yelling but she was just so angry. Anything else Bea had to say died in her throat. She walked back to her car and got in to leave. Poppy walked inside and found Art enjoying a mug of green liquid. She could smell the matcha.
“I am sorry for intruding, Poppy.”
“No, Art it’s no worries. It was just an unexpected surprise.”
They talked for awhile and Poppy’s stiff posture softened as she learned more about Art. He loved matcha just as much as she did. He talked about his time in college and how he always wanted to be a teacher. He showed her a picture of when he took his class to the museum and helped pay for the kids who couldn’t afford it.
“I know it’s none of my business and my apologies in advance if I am over stepping. You shouldn’t be so hard on your girlfriend Bea.”
“She told you about our relationship?”
“No she didn’t need to. I know the look of love anywhere. We have all been bitten by the love bug once or twice.”
“ You don’t care that I am dating a girl.”
“Of course not. We can’t help who we love.” Poppy did her best to keep her tears from escaping.
“I appreciate you saying that Art. I just couldn’t imagine the wrath if Piers found out.”
“Bea said the same thing when planning this. She didn’t even let me bring my phone. I didn’t even park around here she made me park farther away and walk. I thought she was joking at first. She had me turn right 8 times to make sure I wasn’t being tailed.”
“I don’t have my phone either. She really went above and beyond.” She whispered the last part. Suddenly she felt like the worst girlfriend on this planet. She looked at where Bea had parked and saw an empty space.
Bea found a quiet restaurant to sulk. She barely touched her fries when her phone started to buzz. It was a number she didn’t recongize, but there was no scam likely under it so she answered.
“Hello?”
“I’m so sorry for blowing up at you.” Poppy muttered. I just was so sacred and had so many emotions running about I didn’t know how to react.”
“It’s okay Poptart. I should have ran this by you and not read the letter.”
“Will you come back? I want you to meet my dad.”
“Absolutely, I will be right over.” Bea only went over 1 block, she didn’t want to leave Poppy stranded. After parking she walked into the cafe and saw Poppy laughing with Art. She was actually belly laughing. Bea’s heart felt so full to see her girlfriend enjoying her time with her father. She walked over and Poppy pulled her into a hug. She always felt light when her and Poppy embraced. Like nothing in the world could hurt them as long as they were together.
“Art I know you two have corresponded ,but I would like to officially introduce Bea my girlfriend.”
“Nice to meet you in person Bea. Thank you for today.” Bea shook Art’s hand and they sat and talked.
Art was telling them a story from his time in college and Bea was giggling at the story. Poppy imagined what life would have been like if Art was always her dad and raised her. She imagines with someone so warm as a father she would have turned out different. They stayed until close and parted ways after exchanging numbers on napkins.
On the way back to campus Poppy grabbed her girlfriends hands and planted a soft kiss on the back of Bea’s hand.
“Thank you for an amazing day.”
“Always. Happy Birthday Pops.”

“Belvoire.” Poppy instructed her personal driver as Bea glanced out the window. She couldn't believe it. After a half hour of dancing with Poppy, the two were sneaking out of the club, hopping in Poppy’s father’s car and driving back to the Zeta house for a… girl’s night.
Bea wasn’t sure what this girl’s night entailed. It could mean Poppy throwing every makeup product under the sun on Bea’s face. It could mean Poppy locking Bea in her closet. It could also mean that Bea wouldn’t regret flirting with that pretty bartender if she’s lucky…
Surprisingly, the car was spacious, Poppy sitting in her skin tight dress on one side while Bea leaned casually against the window. It was bright in the downtown areas of New York, illuminating the inside of the car every time they passed a billboard.
Poppy hadn’t said a word, glancing at her phone, checking her nails, and even speaking with the driver every now and then.
Bea would have thought the girl was nervous.
“...So…” Bea tried, breaking the silence in the air as she glanced over at Poppy. Poppy was looking right back, catching Bea’s eyes as Bea ducked her head.
Damn her parent’s genes.
“You’re back on the throne now, huh?”
Poppy rolled her eyes, placing her purse to the side closest to the door and actually moving herself to sit closer to Bea. “Hughes.” She said, voice a little low as she looked up at Bea through thin lashes.
She smelled a little like alcohol, spoke like she was presenting a business plan to a large company, but she looked like the best thing Bea had ever seen. Her duality was insane.
“Do you really want to talk about politics?” Poppy asked, reaching out and gently trailing a single nail up the seam of Bea’s jeans. Bea watched her move it a little higher, lifting to trail up the arm of her jacket and stopping right above Bea’s heart.
“Well?” She asked, snapping Bea out of her trance as she shook her head. She had thought she had answered, but having a pretty girl so close made Bea act like a puppy meeting someone new. All too eager to please.
“Good.” Poppy commented, turning forward and removing her hands from Bea. However, she didn’t scoot away, keeping close as the driver pulled up to the shiny gates of Belvoire.
He pulled up to the door of the Zeta house, opening the door as Poppy stepped out with confidence. Bea was a little less confident, hearing the crickets chirp as she thanked the silent driver. Poppy had already made it to the front door, unlocking it with a twist of a shiny pink key and a smaller silver one attached.
“What’s the second key for?” Bea asked, scratching the back of her neck as Poppy rolled her eyes.
“Not that it’s any of your business… it’s for my bay window.” Poppy stated, gently opening the door and peeking her head in.
Bea held back a short laugh, feeling like some type of rom-com where the girl sneaks the delinquent into her bedroom. It was the exact situation but she didn’t need to comment on it.
“I swear Hughes, you better stay quiet.” Poppy warned, pushing the door open further and gesturing for Bea to follow. The two entered the silent house, reaching the staircase and walking up quickly. When they finally made it to Poppy’s bedroom, the girl locked the door right as Bea waltzed in.
The action should have scared Bea, but instead, she was looking around curiously. It had been around a week or so since Bea had last been in the lion’s den and… it remained the same.
Prim and proper with no knick knacks littering the space. Hell, even the bay window could have used a decorative pillow or something.
“Have you ever thought of… I don’t know, trying to make your dorm look lived in?” Bea asked as Poppy scoffed. She was currently standing by a large vanity, taking off her watch and unclipping her necklace. Why she was getting rid of her jewelry, Bea had no clue, but at least Poppy seemed… normal at that moment.
“Knick knacks are tacky. I assume you have many.” Poppy stated, slipping out of her heels and picking them up. She walked towards the closet as Bea watched her close the doors quickly.
Poppy was doing something behind those closed doors and really, all Bea could do was wait for instructions. Since it was a girl’s night… Bea slipped out of her shoes. Placing them close to the door in case she needed a running start. She would have removed her jacket, but considering she was only wearing a white sport’s bra…
Bea walked over to the large white couch in the middle of the room. Poppy’s dorm felt more like a small apartment, only missing a sink and some kitchen appliances. Taking a seat, Bea silently tapped her foot against the plush carpet.
She was nervous about whatever Poppy had planned. After all, she willingly entered hell with a simple sentence invitation. Zoey would kill her.
A side door opened, revealing Poppy with a neutral expression on her face. She had pulled out all the clips and designs in her hair, letting the blonde cascade down her shoulders. She was still wearing her pink clubbing dress as Bea kept a respectful eye towards the ceiling,
“What are you doing?” Poppy asked, walking into the room as she held a plastic box of what Bea assumed was beauty supplies. Poppy looked a little different, probably because she had removed some of her own makeup, taking off the thin lashes and wiping off some lipstick.
The news outlets did not lie on the beauty of Poppy Min-Sinclair. Even in an almost natural state, she still looked flawless. “Hughes, I’m not staining my white couch. Get on the bed.” Poppy instructed, setting the box on the nightstand as Bea stood. Bea took a couple of steps to the bed, golden sheets with multiple pillows.
Bea always hated having multiple pillows. One or two was enough.
She took a seat, careful to not bounce like a toddler as Poppy turned on the nearby light. She reached into the box, pulling out some type of package as Poppy tossed it on the bed. Makeup removing wipes… good to know Bea wouldn't be poisoned yet.
Poppy reached down, unclasping her heels and slipping them off as Bea cleared her throat.
“Are you sick Hughes?” Poppy mumbled, reaching into the box once more. This time a little shorter as her heels gave her at least an inch or two.
“No, just curious as to what I’m doing here.”
“I told you…” Poppy stated, walking to the side and grabbing the remover wipes. She held it up casually, smirking all the while as she undid the seal. “You’re going to be my test subject.”
Poppy then did something a little unexpected. She gently moved onto the bed, moving until she was sitting directly on Bea’s lap.
Silently, Bea gawked at what was happening in front of her as Poppy went on in pulling out a wipe. She didn’t seem to have any worries about what she had just done as Bea tried to keep her breathing even. It wasn’t everyday her mortal enemy was literally putty on her lap.
“Do you usually sit on your friend’s laps when applying makeup?” Bea asked cockily, trying to hide the obvious blush on her cheeks. Poppy was close, almost too close as she rolled her eyes. It looked a little more playful than Bea had seen before.
“Like I would ever apply makeup for one of the Zetas. Those girls take sharing to the next level.” Poppy commented, holding up the wipe and beginning to use it on Bea’s face. Surprisingly, she was rather gentle, moving slowly as she watched where the wipe went. Kinda like she was tracing a pattern across Bea’s face.
“Sounds like you have some gossip to spill.” Bea commented as Poppy nodded.
“Sure, you say gossip. I say disgusting fact within this household. Swapping boyfriends is so last season.” Poppy remarked, sticking out her tongue in mock disgust as Bea raised a brow.
“Boyfriend swapping in the Zeta household huh? Who would have thought?”
“They’re all on the plan, but the upcoming STIs will make this place a horror show.” Poppy cursed, wiping a little rougher on Bea’s lips to get off any lipstick. A little too rough considering Bea wasn’t wearing any.
Bea nodded, watching Poppy toss away the wipe in a nearby trash can. A few minutes went by, Poppy applying something close to Bea’s eyes and almost scraping Bea’s eyeball with her talons. It was something liquidy that surprisingly smelled really nice. It also helped that Poppy gently rubbed it in, besides the possible accident, she was fairly good at this.
“...who said we were friends?” Poppy asked a minute later, breaking the silence as Bea snapped to attention. Sue her if she felt a little too comfortable with Poppy in her lap applying multiple Korean beauty products.
“Are we not friends?” Bea asked, raising a brow as Poppy sharply laughed.
“We are the furthest thing from friends.” She commented as Bea shrugged. Bea leaned back on her palms, looking up at Poppy who looked comfortable sitting on Bea’s lap.
“We don’t need to be friends. In fact, we don’t need to mean anything to each other.” Bea stated, watching as Poppy narrowed her eyes at the way that Bea’s voice dropped slightly.
The two paused, watching each other cautiously as Bea tried to keep her composure. Perhaps, propositioning Poppy in her bedroom was a very bad idea, until…
“Am I boring you Hughes? Perhaps I should try something else to keep your attention.” Poppy mumbled, leaning a little closer as Bea sat up straighter. She was a breath away as Poppy tilted her head, letting her blonde hair curtain her face.
The room was dimly light, the sound of rain and thunder echoing outside as the droplets tapped against the window with a constant beat. Bea could hear Poppy’s soft breathing, could feel the warmth coming off of her as Bea leaned in a little closer.
Her perfume was heavily applied, enough to make Bea feel like she was drowning in a rose garden. She sat up, enough to keep balance as she moved her hand to the back of Poppy’s neck and pulled her down. Right into a kiss.
Poppy tasted like strawberries and tiny sips of alcohol. Intoxicating and sweet at the same time and with just a taste, Bea was addicted. Their lips pressed together in a heated kiss as Poppy rested completely on top of Bea, moving her hands up towards Bea’s hair and threading her long nails into Bea’s locks. Her hair was still a little damp as Bea roughly nipped on Poppy’s bottom lip. Bea kept her hand on the back of Poppy’s neck, before moving it slowly, over to the girl’s cheek to feel her skin. She was warm to the touch, soft too as Bea continued to kiss her rather roughly. Poppy didn’t seem to have any complaints.
Both a dream and a nightmare all at once, Bea felt like she was floating, listening carefully to the soft noises coming from Poppy each time she roughly kissed her. In the back of Bea’s mind, there was an underlying thought that Bea needed to remember how to make her feel good. Feeling Poppy’s lips part, Bea slowly slipped her tongue inside, a little more gentle before a sharp sting hit her side. Bea jolted a little, the sting of Poppy’s nails dug into Bea’s bare side as Poppy broke away from the kiss.
She sat back up while Bea was laying flat on her back. Moving to the bed was definitely a good idea as the couch would have been extremely uncomfortable.
Her lips were swollen red, hair a little mused as she took a deep breath. In the dim lighting, she looked hot as fuck, but that probably only enhanced that image. Bea was catching her own breath, wondering if she went too far before Poppy reached behind her back, unclasping her dress as she kept her eyes locked on Bea.
“Think you can handle this Hughes?” Poppy asked, slipping out of the dress to reveal hot pink underwear that complimented Poppy’s skin perfectly. The gentle trace of the lace across Poppy’s chest made Bea feel like she was about to combust at just the sight. The whole scene in front of her felt a little too unreal.
Bea’s jacket was already half-way off her shoulders as Bea nodded, biting her lower lip as Poppy smirked. She leaned lower, only in her underwear as she cupped Bea’s cheek. It was a possessive move as she let her thumb roughly palm at Bea’s lips. Bea subconsciously parted her lips, looking directly into Poppy’s eyes which seemed to darken as she watched Bea.
“Don’t disappoint me SweetCreek…”
----------------------------------------
“Let’s play charades!”
“Let’s not.” Poppy stated as her employees pouted slightly. Poppy swirled a glass of wine in her hands, frowning as her employees chatted amongst themselves. Accompanied by a loud bass in the speakers, Poppy wondered how awful of a boss she would be if she fired each and every employee at this “surprise” party.
After introducing Zoey to the stage, Bea seemed to have taken off. She magically disappeared into the crowd, but it wasn’t like Poppy was searching for her. That would be ridiculous.
Sitting beside her, Lana was silently chatting with some of the other models. The girl was quite somber especially when everyone else had already had at least three glasses. She was on her first.
Leaning back against the black leather couch, Poppy watched her employees laugh, eat, drink, and chat happily. Some surprise party. Tevon, a little tipsy, waltzed over, taking a seat next to Poppy who ignored the man.
He smiled over at her, taking a sip as he sniffed. His allergies were acting up again. “Are you having fun Ms. Min-Sinclair?”
“I adore surprises, Tevon. Of course I am.” Poppy replied with her voice dripping in sarcasm. The man sighed, gesturing towards the front where Zoey was still performing. Ever since Belvoire, she was always an amazing performer.
“You know, you don’t have to stay here with us. I’ll keep everyone in check if you want to go…”
“Go what?” Poppy asked, raising a brow as Tevon smiled sheepishly, The man lacked the ability to be subtle.
“Go mingle?” He tried as Poppy rolled her eyes. It wouldn’t be an awful idea to get a new change of scenery….
“I’ll be back then. Make sure none of the employees order another round of shots.” Tevon held up three fingers, symbolizing scout’s honor as he waved goodbye to Poppy.
Opening up the VIP door, Poppy was hit with a blast of music. They must have dulled it a bit in the VIP room. Crowds of people, all cheering and shouting Zoey’s name were gathered on the dance floor as Poppy walked through the crowds.
She wasn’t looking for anything in particular. After all, it had been awhile since Poppy had been in a nightclub last. It must have been at least two years ago, probably since she graduated from Belvoire.
She had liked it before. When she needed a place to escape and just be Poppy, but now… too many memories were associated with nightclubs. The most prominent memory staring at her from across the dance floor at that very moment.
Bea hadn’t changed out of her outfit from earlier, hair slicked back by what Poppy assumed was sweat as she was leaning against the bar top. She broke contact when Poppy caught sight of her, returning to talking to the bartender as Poppy rolled her eyes.
These awkward moments of meeting were starting to get on Poppy’s nerves even if it had only begun to happen. Who knew New York was such a small city on a Friday night?
Poppy walked up to the bar, ignoring Bea even when more club goers crowded around. The two ended up side by side, not glancing towards each other as Poppy waved the bartender over. He smiled at her as she ordered a glass of whiskey, but Poppy was more concerned about the person beside her.
Bea was casually sipping from her glass of what looked like a vodka soda. Unsurprising to no one, she was avoiding eye contact with Poppy as well.
Pulling out her phone, Poppy scrolled through anything she could find. Photos, junk mail, old emails, anything to keep herself distracted before she opened up her Pinstagram. She did a little more scrolling, perhaps trying to wait out and see if Bea would leave first, before feeling a heavy set of arms practically tackle her from behind.
“Poppy Freaking Min-Sinclair?! Aren’t you a sight for sore eyes!” A familiar voice yelled in her ear as Poppy turned around. Tall, now dark blue haired Veronica Lombardi stood, phone in hand and a playful smile on her face. She was a little tipsy, wearing a gorgeous silver dress as she swayed on her feet.
“Wow Poppy, for your first re-appearance into clubbing, I would have expected something a little more sexy.”
“Veronica, what are you doing here?” Poppy asked, rolling her eyes as Veronica verbally judged Poppy’s outfit. She wasn’t planning on going clubbing tonight, but fate had other ideas.
“Hello? Biggest comeback concert for The Zoey Wade? Who wouldn’t be here?” Veronica laughed, smiling wide as she downed a nearby drink that the bartender had slid to another customer. Right as she placed it daintily on the counter, her eyes widened.
“Holy shit, Bea Hughes?” Veronica commented, moving past Poppy and sliding up to Bea who had successfully moved a few inches down the bar. “I haven’t seen you since Belvoire? I should have expected you would be here to celebrate your bestie.”
“Hey, Veronica. It’s been…” Finally, Bea’s eyes traveled to Poppy, gulping air as she turned back to Veronica who was looking Bea up and down. “It’s been awhile.”
“Um, two years?? We should catch up. Poppy!” Veronica twirled on her heel, pointing at Bea behind her. “Can you believe it? It’s Bea Hughes!”
Veronica reached for Poppy’s hand, dragging her closer as Poppy tried not to stumble in her heels. Bea straightened up from her previous position against the bar top, smiling sheepishly as the flashing club lights blinked across her face.
“I can see that…” Poppy mumbled as Veronica smiled.
“This is crazy! Talk about a small city. Hey, weren’t we just talking about Bea Hughes a few days ago?” Poppy shook her head violently, elbowing Veronica directly in her ribs, causing the woman to wince.
“I’m sure you’re referring to when we were talking about my new contract with Rensler. Bea Hughes’ name may have popped up.” Poppy stated, giving Veronica a dangerous side eye. Poppy didn’t dare look at Bea, fairly certain Bea wouldn't be convinced that was the only conversation the two had.
“Oh?” Veronica raised a manicured brow. She didn't believe Poppy either. “You’re right, that’s what we were talking about.” She finally added, letting go of Poppy’s arm and smiling at Bea.
“You haven’t changed a bit, SweetCreek.” Veronica smiled, eyeing Bea up and down and subconsciously licking her lips. “We should absolutely catch up sometime, but I have an exclusive interview with Zoey so I have to bounce.” Veronica smirked, reclaiming Poppy’s arm and practically shoving her into Bea. For someone always on her phone, she was strong as hell.
Bea caught her, just barely, with her hands on Poppy’s waist as Poppy tried to readjust her heel.
“Do me a fave, and take care of my girl. She’s in desperate need of a break!” Veronica sang, waving goodbye to the two as Poppy pushed herself away from Bea.
She stumbled back a little, flipping her hair out of her face as she rolled her eyes. “Let’s just forget that happened.” Poppy stated, brushing off her silk blazer as Bea nodded.
“You got it.” Bea mumbled, turning on her sneakers and breaking off into the crowd. Leaving Poppy in disbelief.
“....what the fuck is wrong with her?!” Poppy exclaimed aloud as some club goers looked at her funny. Poppy took a second, clenching and unclenching her fists before finally sighing heavily.
No, this wasn’t going to happen again. She wasn’t going to get caught up in Bea’s dramatic, cool girl act again. This wasn’t Belvoire. Problems aren’t solved by cussing each other out or… other methods.
Spinning on her heel, Poppy stalked away from the bar, rolling her eyes and pushing through club members. She was so over this.
--------------------------------------------
Bea couldn’t understand it.
Three hours earlier, she was dancing with the Poppy Min-Sinclair in a posh nightclub. Not expecting, but possibly hoping for something. Now, she was in Poppy’s bedroom, on Poppy’s bed, hovering over her, slowly kissing her as Poppy’s nails scratched down her bare back.
After the rather possessive move from Poppy earlier, Bea had taken upon herself a mission. A mission to make the Queen B of Belvoire feel really really good.
The cracks of thunder and rain added to the intensity in the room as Bea roughly pinned Poppy’s arms above her head. She was a little surprised Poppy allowed her to be on top- er… on top of her at the moment, but Poppy didn’t seem to mind. In fact, she looked rather pleased as Bea squeezed her wrists.
Bea wasn’t so stupid to know this was a big fucking mistake, but… she also wasn’t so stupid to know that this was something she had wanted for a while.
A particular nick to Bea’s rib cage made her hiss softly, breaking away from kissing Poppy who looked just as flushed. Bea had lost her jacket and jeans, wearing that white sports bra as Poppy fiddled with the strap.
“Are you going to kiss me all night Hughes? Or are we actually going to get somewhere.”
Bea smiled wolfishly. “Depends… what did you have in mind?” As Poppy huffed a sharp laugh, Bea ducked her head lower, trailing her lips slowly down Poppy’s neck, kissing her pulse point as Poppy sharply inhaled.
“I should have known you were all bark and no bite.” Poppy mumbled, wriggling slowly under Bea who mocked a gasp.
“That’s insulting.”
“And your bedroom talk sucks.” Poppy marveled to herself, possibly regretting putting herself in this situation as Bea groaned.
“For once in your life…” Bea lifted her hand, cuffing Poppy’s jaw rather roughly. She didn’t seem to mind.
A loud crack of thunder flashed across Poppy’s face in the dim lit room. Her lips were puffy, eyes hooded as she watched Bea, waiting and maybe expecting something surprising to happen.
Who was Bea to disappoint?
Bea leaned in, claiming Poppy’s lips in a kiss that could steal her breath as Bea worked on having Poppy completely bare underneath her.
Her hands worked, swiping careful patterns against newly revealed skin, just long enough to make Poppy comfortable until she pulled away.
Poppy had seemed to keep quiet, letting Bea work her up until the Queen B couldn't take it anymore.
“Fuck Hughes, today.” Poppy growled out just as Bea’s hand inched lower.
By her tone, Poppy sounded so done with this whole situation, but Bea could tell it was the complete opposite.
“What’s the matter? Can’t handle a bit of teasing before the big moment?”
“I have a feeling this is going to be very anti-climatic.” Poppy challenged, going so far as to sit up and practically push Bea onto her back. She landed with a gentle thud as Poppy swung her leg over Bea’s stomach, pinning her down as Bea felt warmth radiate off of Poppy.
Damn.
As much as she hated to admit it, Poppy always looked good on top.
Reaching into her pristine white drawer, Poppy pulled out a small silver device, practically twirling it in her hand as she looked at Bea with a tilt of her head.
“Let’s have some real fun, shall we?”
It was clear that Poppy didn't seem like the type to be 100% vanilla, but Bea didn’t expect her to have a vibrator so close and on call. Of course, she couldn’t let it slide.
“How many nights have you used that after one of your many disappointing hookups?” Bea chuckled, as Poppy furrowed her brows. Poppy slid her thumb up the device, switching it on as it created a constant hum in the air.
“Hughes.”
Bea quieted her laughter, hearing the tone of Poppy’s voice as the rain continued to splatter. It felt right that the rain and thunder cracked loudly around them. A storm outside, probably a freaking big mistake inside.
The room fell silent, only a mix of harsh breathing and the sound of the vibrator as Poppy lowered her voice to a purr.
“Shut the hell up and fuck me.” Poppy commanded, grabbing Bea’s hand and placing the vibrator in her palm.
Besides thinking that was insanely hot, Bea didn’t get the chance to respond, immediately met with the taste of Poppy’s lips on hers, claiming her tongue possessively as Bea wrapped her hands around Poppy’s waist.
Bea maneuvered the vibrator, running it up and down Poppy’s thigh before finally moving to where Poppy really wanted her.
When the vibrator moved against Poppy, she broke away from the kiss, sharply inhaling as Bea moved her hand to a more comfortable position.
Given, it wasn’t the best for her hand, with Poppy on top of her and her hand… lower, but it gave Bea quite a show.
Poppy was silently cursing in her ear, panting hard as Bea rocked the vibrator back and forth. She fooled with the settings, speeding it up, and slowing it just as Poppy’s breathing would speed.
She was giving away everything and Bea was going to memorize it all.
“Hughes… faster.” Poppy tried to demand, but it came out a little breathy as she squeezed onto Bea’s shoulders. She had decided to make matters 100 times worse as she slowly rocked her hips against Bea’s hand, quickening Bea’s heartbeat.
“Fuck…” Bea mumbled as Poppy gasped aloud. She was definitely close, but Bea wasn’t satisfied just yet.
She slowed the vibrator, moving it a little higher to tease Poppy just right as Poppy groaned. It was rather cute as she glared down at Bea.
“SweetCreek, don’t you dare-“
“Easy, gorgeous. Just building you up a little.” Bea used Poppy’s moment of shock to sit up, leaning in and pressing a trail of kisses up Poppy’s chest. That added to Poppy’s sensation as she practically grabbed the back of Bea’s head, pressing her closer as Bea took one of the peaks into her mouth, swirling her tongue slowly as her hand moved up higher.
“I’ll give you what you want… if you say my name.” Bea murmured, loud enough for Poppy to hear as the Queen B stiffened.
“In your dreams SweetCreek.”
“Oh believe me, you’ve been in them constantly.” Bea smirked, nipping at Poppy’s chest as she pulled away. Bea clicked the vibrator off, doing her best to toss it away and quickly replacing it with her fingers.
That made Poppy audibly moan, as Bea quickly found all of the spots that made Poppy unravel.
Watching Poppy carefully, Bea moved lower, gently inserting a single finger as Poppy tightened her grip onto Bea’s shoulder so hard, Bea felt it pierce her skin.
This girl and her claws.
“Relax…” Bea mumbled, kissing the lobe of Poppy’s ear as the girl clung tighter to Bea.
She could tell Poppy was still trying to keep some air of superiority, but it was a little impossible considering how breathless she was in Bea’s arms.
Bea moved her finger slowly, in and out before daring to insert another as Poppy moaned.
That wasn’t going to be leaving her head anytime soon.
“SweetCreek… fuck.” Poppy growled out, smashing her lips possessively into Bea’s. “More…” She mumbled out against Bea’s lips as Poppy’s hips rocked.
Bea wasn’t sure how long she would be able to hold out either. Having Poppy so close, so… willing.
“Say it.” Bea demanded, kissing Poppy’s neck, biting her neck, leaving any claim she could as her fingers moved. “Say my name and I’ll make you scream it later.” Bea hissed, feeling Poppy scratch her back roughly.
Probably her last attempt at dominance as Poppy pulled back, glaring at Bea with lust-filled eyes before Bea curled her fingers.
That was it. Poppy collapsed against Bea once more, shaking slightly from her orgasm as her lips found Bea’s ear.
“Bea!”
Bea felt her stomach turn, hearing Poppy practically moan her name as she let go. Bea helped her ride out her orgasm, slowly moving her fingers as she kissed up Poppy’s neck.
Sweat lined her skin, hair sticking close against her face as she took several small gasps. Bea let her tongue trail up Poppy’s neck, tasting the salt as she kissed her once last time.
“That wasn’t so hard was it?” Poppy didn’t answer, taking a shaky breath before looking over at Bea who wore a satisfied smirk.
“…I’ve had better.” Poppy murmured as Bea quirked a brow.
“The way you were gasping I never would have guessed.”
“What happened to not talking?” Poppy barked out, more breathless than usual as she slid away from Bea. Yea, she was definitely lying.
“You know, it wouldn’t kill you to give me a compliment, Poptart. I mean… I did just give you a mind blowing orgasm after all.”
“And you think that’s an accomplishment. Please SweetCreek, you haven’t seen anything yet.” Even though Poppy had slid herself away from Bea, she wasn’t making moves of leaving or putting back her clothes.
Instead, her eyes were trained on the exposed skin of Bea’s toned stomach. Her golden hair fell softly around her face, framing her features as she tucked a piece against her ear, leaning down and trailing her fingertips against Bea’s skin.
Under Poppy’s cool touch, Bea’s stomach flexed, watching Poppy raise a brow in curiosity before she looked up.
“I don’t like being indebted to people. Consider this me returning the favor, twice as better.” Bea didn’t get the chance to respond again, already feeling Poppy hover over her, unbuckling her jeans as her lips found their way to Bea’s neck.
It was going to be some night…
—————————————————————-
“Bea, you can’t leave!” Zoey exclaimed as Bea found her way into the back of the stage. “I thought we were going to go and get some drinks, post embarrassing Pinstagram stories, and get wasted like old times?”
“Maybe tomorrow? I had a long day…” Bea held her hands up in apology, blowing Zoey a quick kiss as Zoey’s crew swarmed around the popstar.
Zoey sighed, returning the kiss as she waved Bea off, just as the music picked up again, signaling she was supposed to be back on stage.
Walking away from Zoey’s dressing room, Bea slowly made her way out into the crowded dance floor, bumping shoulders with random people getting wasted or high or both.
To be honest, the mood was fairly ruined. As much as Bea wanted to be there to support Zoey… it was difficult.
Poppy was in the club and like always, it was some magnetic force or fate that always seemed to let them meet even in a large club such as this.
Bea thought that was pretty cruel of the universes to keep bringing her up.
What was even more cruel though, was probably what was weighing so heavily on Bea’s mind. She had a very weird, very un-official breakup from Lana only days ago.
She hadn’t called, hadn’t apologized, but then again, Lana didn’t really ask for any explanations. Bea assumed it was really over… which was probably confusing why Bea was still so…
She wandered over to the bar, waving down that pretty bartender and breaking into a small smile. “Just a vodka soda.” Bea opened up her wallet, sliding the woman a ten as she leaned against the bar.
One drink and she would head home.
She would head home, curl up with Sesi and Otis and maybe catch that new movie. Something simple after a chaotic week.
The bartender slid her the vodka soda a second later. Bea picked it up, taking a sip and feeling the cold liquid glide down her throat. It wasn’t a long drive and she could hold her liquor well.
Just a few feet away, Zoey was playing one of her best shows. Granted, almost all of Zoey’s shows were her best, but that was a given considering it was the Zoey Wade.
Bea didn’t even notice how crowded the club had gotten as the night went on. There was barely an inch of room between dancing bodies and cheering club goers. The bars were packed as well. Getting more packed by the minute as Bea felt multiple club goers shove past her, ordering drinks and laughing loudly.
At least they were having a good time.
The bartender stopped by quickly, pouring Bea some more in her glass as Bea nodded to her. Best not to distract the woman from her job.
Bea picked up her drink, surveying the crowd as she searched for the exit. She held her glass close to her chest, a little too close as she maneuvered herself away from the bar and the large crowds of people.
A large man danced near the bar top, swinging his arms wide just as Bea walked past. The music was too loud for him to hear her as Bea took a sharp step backwards, right  before the man’s hand would have collided with her face.
Unfortunately, it didn’t help to feel a cold splash hit the front and back of her shirt as Bea yelped.
“Oh shit!” A voice yelled out as Bea glanced down at her shirt, now wet with vodka soda and something else on the back of her shirt.
This day really did suck.
Bea turned around, murmuring apologies as the other club goer did as well.
“I’m so sorry! I didn’t think I would be such a clutz today but-”
“No it was my fault! I-”
Both of their sentences fell short as the girl in front of Bea widened her eyes.
“...Lana?”
“Bea?”
Bea felt her heart quicken, about to say something, anything to her. The music was loud, pulsing in her ear as Bea gulped. As her mouth opened, Lana quickly clamped it shut, her soft palm hitting Bea quickly as she glanced around.
“I can’t hear a thing and your shirt is…” She looked down, before returning her gaze back up. It was rather see-through with how wet it was now probably. “Let’s get you cleaned up, okay?”
Bea only nodded, setting her glass on the bar top and following Lana to… wherever. Probably the bathroom, but Bea wasn’t really thinking.
“Don’t screw this up now Bea…”

______________________________________________________________
Over the past few weeks, her and Bea had become unlikely friends. It started with just accidentally running into each other in the campus library. They steered clear of each other for the most part at the beginning, but then late one night, one of her heels broke as she was leaving.
She tripped, dropping all her books in the process. Bea being the “good girl” that she was, came over to help her. She even offered to let Poppy wear her shoes until she made it home. Of course, Poppy refused at first, but then the thought of walking barefoot all the way back to the Zeta house made her reconsider.
So, Bea walked her all the way home. Poppy was literally walking in her shoes while Bea was in socks. Her rival tried making small talk with her, but she wouldn’t budge, staying silent the whole way.
It wasn’t until they got back to Zeta house that she spoke. “As much as it pains me to say this. Thank you for letting me borrow your shoes” she said. Bea just laughed a little “You’re welcome. And just so you know, I’m not as bad as I seem once you get to know me”
Poppy doesn’t know why, but there was something in that laugh that made her take pause. Made her think that maybe there was more to this girl than met the eye. She couldn’t let Bea know that though. Could never let anyone know that she had misjudged. So instead, her pride had her spitting out “I highly doubt that” as she started making her way inside. “This was a one-time thing farmville. It’ll never happen again”
Except it did. Bea kept walking her back home. Every time trying to get a conversation going, much to Poppy’s annoyance. However, since they usually had these walks from the library so late at night with no one to see them, she tolerated it. She tolerated it every day until she noticed that she actually looked forward to their late-night walks.
She started engaging in conversation more. They started talking about classes at first but then the subject would change to what kind of music they liked, which books they loved. And Poppy loved every second of it.
The walks became their own little secret. Something that no one else knew about. It became an unspoken rule that they would act normal around the other students at Belvoire. Keeping their rivalry for top spot alive. Occasionally, they would text each other, but that was still something new.
Which is why it isn’t unusual for Poppy to start reaching for her phone to text the girl. That is, until she suddenly hears Bea’s voice, the sound stopping her movements.
She can tell someone is with her. She can hear the giggling and the shushing coming from just a few rows down. Poppy is holding a copy of the book that her walking buddy had so enthusiastically recommended.
At first, she just thinks that Bea is with Zoey. Until she hears a different voice instead. “Come on Bea. This isn’t funny” It can’t be she thinks. Her mind races because there is no way that voice belongs to who she thinks it does.
Quietly, she makes her way over to the end of the row. Trying her best to sneak a peek from behind the bookshelves, she finds Bea on one of the couches, straddling none other than professor Kingsley. “I don’t think we need that book anymore, do you Ina?”
Ina? So, they are on a first name basis she thinks. Poppy watches as Bea and professor Kingsley play out their little punishment games. There’s an ache in her chest, one that she can’t quite place. All she knows is that she can’t stay here anymore. She needs to leave.
She starts making her way out until she realizes she’s still holding the book that Bea recommended. The cover for “Criers War” staring back at her. Poppy was a little excited when she first walked into Bindings, wanting to read the book they talked about. Looked forward to reading it and then talking about it with Bea on one of their walks but now… She wanted nothing to do with it. Leaving the book on a random shelf, she storms out and heads home.
Poppy feels like she might throw up and her heart is pounding a mile a minute. She’s never felt anything like this before. She can’t explain this feeling. It almost feels as if her heart is breaking. But it couldn’t be that. Could it?
She stops, replaying every encounter she’s had with Bea over the past couple of months. The way her insides would warm whenever Bea laughed, or the way she started to do anything just to see that smile form on her stupidly adorable face. How her guilt would dissipate after a reassuring glace from Bea’s blue eyes after she made a comment she feared went too far.
She couldn’t pinpoint the exact moment but, she had slowly fallen in love with the farmgirl. What a sick joke she thinks. The first time she ever truly falls in love and the girl is playing teacher’s pet. The image of Bea and professor Kingsley still burned fresh in her mind.
Tonight. She would give herself tonight to feel the full weight of the heartbreak. Then tomorrow, she would go right back to how things were before she fell.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Almost a month had passed since she saw Bea in the library with the professor. It was easy to fall back into the flow from before of hating Bea. Insulting her and bringing her down any chance that Poppy had.
At least, that’s what she wishes she could say. Wished it was easy to see the confusion on Bea’s face when Poppy no longer went to the library to study. Wished it was easy to see the hurt in Bea’s eyes as the insults Poppy threw at her hit closer and closer to home. Wished it was easy to see Bea and professor Kingsley interact so innocently with each other around campus, knowing that behind closed doors something else entirely was happening.
Wished that keeping her distance from Bea wasn’t one of the hardest things she’s had to do.
One night while trying to study for an upcoming exam, Poppy had to fight the urge to scream at her house mates more than once. Usually, she could handle the loud obnoxious noises that would seep into her room, able to block out whatever her sisters where doing. Tonight however, their loud chattering was getting on her last nerve.
Chloe ended up being the straw that broke the camels back as she came barreling into Poppy’s room. “Omg, you like totally have to check out this guy!” she said, shoving her phone in Poppy’s face. With a stern glare thrown her way, Chloe stepped back. “Chloe, sweetie” the annoyance laced Poppy’s voice like venom. “I truly could not care any less about whatever buffed up frat boy you’ve decided to obsess over this week.” She stood, collecting her things knowing that if she stayed, she wouldn’t be doing any studying. “So, excuse me while I go and get some actual work done” She passed Chloe, not giving her a second glace and missing the quiet “Sorry Poppy” that came from her.
She headed straight for the library, figuring that she would be able to get at least a few hours of studying done before it closed for the night. Approaching the library, she was grateful at how empty it was. She’d be lying if she said that a certain blonde didn’t pop into her head when she had made the decision to come to the library. She knew that there would be no way she could handle seeing Bea alone. She didn’t want to.
Especially not here. The library had become a place she held close to her heart. Somewhere she sought comfort, simply because she knew Bea would be there. But now. Now it was tainted with the memory of Bea and Professor Kingsley.
Her hand reached for the door, only hesitating for a second. She didn’t want to be here, but there was nowhere else she could think of to study. Pulling open the door, she tried clearing out all thoughts of Bea so she could get to work.
Poppy took only a few steps before she felt someone lightly grab her arm, stopping her from moving. Turning, she was met with the worried look of Bea’s face. “Hey, I’ve been calling out your name. Did you not hear me?”
No, she hadn’t. She was so worried about running to her, that Poppy hadn’t even realized that Bea was calling out her name. “Poppy?” she asked. Hearing her name come from Bea brought the pain she had been feeling to the forefront of her being, and she felt her senses becoming overwhelmed.
The lights in the library were too bright, the whispers of the few patrons around them seemed too loud. The warmth coming from Bea’s hand as it still held onto her felt like fire on her skin. She pulled away, needing to break the contact. “Don’t touch me” she spat out, moving to push pass Bea and leave the library. She could study another time. Right now, she needed to leave.
“Poppy wait” Bea followed her out. “Hey, I need to talk to you, wait”. She kept moving, not wanting to hear anything that Bea had to say. She just focused on getting back to Zeta house, on getting away from Bea.
She stopped short as Bea cut in front of her. “Poppy, talk to me. What’s wrong?” the pleading in her voice almost made Poppy break right there. She wanted to let lose all the emotions she had felt since seeing Bea and Kingsley, but she couldn’t let Bea see her like that. Couldn’t let her seem weak.
“Nothing’s wrong farmville. Just get out of my way” she tried to continue to the house, but Bea stopped her again. “No, not until you tell me what’s going on”. She wasn’t letting it go. Poppy pushed again. “Get out of my way Bea” but the girl stayed rooted to her spot in the same way a strong tree stays rooted in the midst of a storm. “Poppy talk to me. You’ve been avoiding me for weeks now” Bea’s face softened. “I’ve missed you. Missed our walks”.
Missed her? Bea had missed her. Probably just as much as Poppy had missed her. A certain warmth made its way through Poppy, the thought that Bea had actually missed her made her feel wanted in a way she’d never known before. The feeling was short lived as flashes of Bea and Professor Kingsley flooded her memory. The coldness was back and Poppy couldn’t help the words that spilled from her. “Please, how could you possibly miss me? Seems you have been too busy with Ina to care”
She reveled in the cycle of emotions that crossed Bea’s face. Confusion, realization, fear, panic, hurt. Poppy drank it all in, as if Bea’s pain would be the only thing to remedy her own.
“You know?” she asked softly. Poppy scoffed “Know what? That you’ve been screwing one of the professors?” Bea flinched at the harshness of Poppy’s voice. “I’d be more careful when hooking up in the library.”
Bea finally looked away, her eyes falling to the floor. “Poppy, it’s not like that with Ina. We were just- “ Poppy cut her off. “I don’t really care what you and Ina do, just stay out of my way and we won’t have a problem” she tried leaving again, but Bea was right there to stop her. “But you do care. You wouldn’t be avoiding me if you didn’t”
You do care. The words spinning over and over in her head. You do care. You do care. She could feel the grip on her emotions slipping. She needed to leave, or get Bea to leave. “I could not care less about you” a lie of course, one that tasted bitter in her mouth.
“You don’t mean that” Bea tried her best not to look hurt, but Poppy could see it affected her. Still, Bea pushed on. “Poppy, I know you feel something between us, you can’t deny it” Her patience with Bea was running thin “Aw, did things not work out with Ina? Looking for a rebound? You won’t find it here”
That was it. That snapped Bea. “Are you kidding me Poppy!? You know you’re more than that to me!” The sudden outburst took her back and her eyes widened at Bea’s almost confession. “What I had with Ina was fun, but it wasn’t real” she grabbed Poppy’s hands in her own. “Not like this. Not like us.”
Poppy stood there frozen, unsure what to say. “Poppy the things I feel with you are so strong that sometimes it feels like I might explode. This past month that you’ve been avoiding me have been hell. I can feel your absence like a weight that’s pressing down on my chest and I, I” Bea hesitated. “Poppy” taking a deep breath her eyes met Poppy’s. “Poppy Min-Sinclair I think I might just be in love with you”
It took her a second to process just what Bea had said. Did I hear her right? Bea just admitted to loving her. Something Poppy had only dreamed about, something she hadn’t dared to even think to entertain but… but Bea is looking at her with so much love and conviction that all doubts and thoughts that what Bea just confessed might not be true faded. She could only imagine how she must look, because suddenly Bea’s face is worried. “Listen it’s ok if you don’t feel the same. We can just be friends, just please, please stop avoiding me I can’t handle it anymore” she rambles.
Poppy just stands there staring at her, still taking in everything. Bea shifts on her feet, the nerves getting the best of her. “Poppy say something please” she begs, and Poppy can think of nothing cuter. She gentle cups Bea’s face and leans in pressing their lips together.
Bea surrounds her, filling up every space and overwhelming every sense that Poppy has in the best possible way.
They finally pull away, resting their foreheads against each other, taking deep breaths. In this moment of just them, everything is peaceful. Everything feels just right in Poppy’s world. From the way their heads are pressed together, to how Bea’s hands fit in her own, to how they moved against each other during the kiss. As if they were simply made to fit together.
Bea breaks the silence first. “So, I guess this means you feel the same?” Poppy just softly laughed as she said “You’re so dumb”. Bea just shrugged, “Maybe, but at least I have you. I do have you right?” Poppy took a moment to really think about it. Feelings aside, she needed to make sure things with Ina really were over. “There may be a few things we should talk about more” she smiled. “But yes, you have me.”
Bea smiled before kissing her again, and Poppy was sure she wound never tire of the feeling. Once they parted, Bea gently squeezed her hand and said “Can I walk you home?” Poppy could think of nothing better. “I would love if you did” she said, feeling peace wash over her for the first time in a while.
The two of them walked along the same path to Zeta house, catching up on everything they had missed in the time apart. Poppy couldn’t help thinking how easy it was to fall right back into the comfortable conversations, and she couldn’t wait to see what the future held for them.

I love how Queen B initially kinda makes you believe that Bea's job is to take over the campus & become a benevolent ruler all so they can save the entire school body from the tyrannical rule of Satan. Except actually Bea is also Satan but with better people management skills
and then after spending two years trying to publicly murder each other the two tyrants kiss over the burning bodies of the school populace

I've been so busy lately that I'm only just getting around to reading this chapter. I wish Olivia was a canon option I would pick Olivia over other LIs in a heartbeat.
Tumblr media
Thank you for providing us with this book, although I'm disappointed that they didn't include Poppy or Aurora Emery, at least in Open Heart Book 1. I’ve been dying to romance these two along with Olivia. Sure, we got to romance Poppy at the end of QB2, but I would love a chapter where we get to play as Poppy during her moments with MC. They've done that in The Dalton Affairs. I want to see Poppy's inner thoughts whenever she hooks up with MC.

Why did Olivia’s earrings change the moment she gets rid of her clothes? Is this some kind of glitch?
