Pork gyoza and sticky pork meatballs. I made a bento lunch for art school tomorrow. I ran out of gyoza wrappers, so I made the meatballs with the leftover filling.

Dip sauce can be kept in the fridge for up to a week. 1/4 teaspoon fish sauce, 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, 1.5 tablespoons gochujang, 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon minced fresh ginger root, 4 ounces water chestnuts drained, 1/2 tablespoon dried parsley, 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil, 1 egg lightly beaten, vegetable oil for frying, 1/2 teaspoon Sriracha sauce, 1/3 cup thinly sliced green onions, 1/4 teaspoon grated fresh ginger, 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce, 3 green onions, 1 clove garlic minced, 1/2 cup rice vinegar, 1 package sausage, 1 teaspoon hoisin sauce, 2 ounces canned pineapple drained, 1 teaspoon sesame oil, 2 packages round gyoza wrappers

気圧され言葉がでないとはこのことか。寄り目になるくらい凝視し、天を仰いでしまった。▶︎てっちゃんのどことなくノスタルジックな気配を醸す油彩画と紙粘土製の極彩色のデコオブジェは、自由に時空を超える束縛されぬ魂。▶︎さとちゃんの幽霊地蔵、しばられ地蔵といった「江戸変わり地蔵」の写真を観ていると、ぶっすぶっすと時間を貫いた民の祈りの声が耳元に聞こてきそうだ。▶︎現在、世界中を飛びまくっているアートプロジェクトの「引き受け地蔵(司教)」の地蔵様たちが壁面に浮遊し、幾体かは教会の十字架のように集められて光のなかで輝き美しかった。会場では恵比寿天様かと見紛う破顔の上遠野先生こと、さとちゃんにお会いし、この上ない僥倖。嬉しさのあまり木製の子鹿を1匹連れて帰った。
 gallery &cafe茶廊法邑は、ぐるりと空間を囲む下窓から小庭の雪見ができて素晴らしい。こんな贅沢な環境が札幌以外にあるなら教えてほしい。行きます。
 帰りはてっちゃんのお店、「てっちゃん」に寄り、〈生〉てっちゃんを拝顔し、〈生〉餃子のテイクアウト。家で焼いて食すとピリッと辛くて酒好きにはたまらない味だ。ギャラリーから車ですぐなのでぜひお立ち寄りを。てっちゃんの奥様も菩薩のような方。雪降る祭日のなんとも味わい深いギャラリー巡りであった。

When I bought the latest limited edition “Gyoza” flavored Cup Noodle, I thought it would simply have mini dumplings added in, but instead, as you can see, they deconstructed the dumplings and added the individual ingredients in with the noodles... cabbage, chives and little gyoza stuffing meatballs. There was also a packet of gyoza “tare”, or sauce, included that you mixed in after everything came up to temp. Not bad for a quick lunch, but as a gyoza lover, I had expected more depth of flavor. Needed more garlic. But the red and yellow cups really popped off shelves.

A new Japanese eatery opened in Sun Plaza last year, so I brought mum along to Men Men Don Don (麺麺丼丼) for dinner. We each ordered a different ramen flavour and I topped up S$3 for three pieces of Gyoza and a cup of hot green tea. Mum got the Char Siew Ramen (S$8.90) which was priced reasonably though the portion on the small size. Just two slices of char siew, narutomaki, seaweed and half a hardboiled egg; not even the ramen egg kind.

My Spicy Miso Ramen (S$8.90) had everything in mum’s bowl plus corns. Taste wise, the ramen was not too bad and I especially like the springy yellow noodles. The broth isn’t as salty as those I had in Hokkaido which suited me. Just that I had to find something else to fill my half full tummy after dinner.
