Daffy’s older ehehe. So tried my hand in vintage effect, inspired by @ducktracy’s pieces
Had this idea prompt in my list for months, including drawing this prototype Snow White design. I’m happy I finally got to do it, even if I’m not 100% with the final effects.

One thing I think everyone forgets about Bugs and Daffy's dynamic that has been phased out in recent years is that Daffy is perfectly competent when Bugs ISNT around. When Daffy was first introduced, for all intents and purposes, he WAS Bugs. He was the Bugs to Porky's Elmer Fudd, and also to that one dog's, I don't know, Yosemite Sam? Anyways, the point is Daffy was just like Bugs, outsmarting everyone, until he tried to outsmart Bugs the same way one day and couldn't. Bugs made Daffy look like an idiot SO HARD that everyone thinks that was the whole point of his character. (Bugs bunny is so fucking iconic) Which, if you ever wonder why in most media Daffy is insanely jealous of Bugs? Yeah, that's a big reason. And while this dynamic isn't touched on much anymore, Daffy tends to be portrayed as a total idiot whether or not Bugs is around, I kinda miss it. And of course Bugs still effects Daffy, Daffy still acts slightly different around Bugs, but the absolute complete CHANGE was so delicious. Daffy used to be a genius until Bugs made him look dumb, he was so smart until Bugs showed up and all of a sudden he was an idiot. The same thing happened with Wil E. Coyote btw, with BOTH the roadrunner AND Bugs on different occasions. Yeah but anyway, sorry about the rant, I just find it so interesting.

Donald Duck and Daffy Duck as superheroes with their kids - Duck Avenger (Paperinik), Stupor Duck, Toxic Avengers and Little Paperiniks (Ducklings Avengers) - Duck comics, Looney Tunes and Tiny Toons Crossover - Duckverse - Happy birthday to Daffy Duck and Huey, Dewey and Louie!
Another drawing related to the birthday of Huey, Dewey and Louie, but this time as a crossover with the birthday of the best duck besides Donald, which is Daffy Duck. Yes, I drew as a crossover of my favorite ducks, but I drew them as classic superheroes.
On April 17, 1937, Daffy Duck appeared in Porky's Hunt (classic short) and later became one of the main characters in Looney Tunes. At the same time, Daffy is one of my favorite characters not only in Looney Tunes, but also in cartoons and comics in general. I also love the crazy silly Daffy, and I also love him as a jerk, as both characters suit him. I drew Daffy as Stupor Duck (a parody of Superman) who played the given role in the classic short of the same name (from 1956) directed by Robert McKimson. I also drew Duck Avenger was created in 1969 in a comic book by Guido Martina and Giovanni Carpi (correct me about the name of the author) and since then Donald has been an avenger and later he will be a real superhero. And there are Donald's nephews who are little Duck Avengers or Little Paperiniks or Ducklings Avengers who imitate their uncle as a superhero, so they are also superheroes even though they don't know that Duck Avenger is their uncle (who has read the comics, knows what I'm talking about). By the way, I drew this as a redraw from the comic book cover by Donald Soffritti who drew it two years ago and it was published by Topolino a year ago. I just added their usual baseball caps instead of sailor caps that fit them for that. And then there's Plucky Duck as Toxic Revenger (a parody of Toxic Avenger if you know about the two movies, one from 1984, the other from 2023) who is one of his superhero alter egos and appeared in several episodes of Tiny Toons Adventures and he mainly fights against those who pollute the environment, and above all his main rival is Montana Max. Yes, Plucky is Daffy's student in Tiny Toons, and in my headcanon he is Daffy's nephew, because if Donald has his nephews, then Daffy has his. Is not it? XD
I mostly drew it my way in my style where together they defend Duckburg and Toontown as well as the world from villains, with Donald and Daffy not really getting along. But again, they certainly work great together, at least in my opinion. Yes, I do prefer Duck Dodgers, but I put Stupor Duck here, because it's still a classic.
I hope you like this drawing and this idea, and feel free to like and reblog this, but please don't use the same ideas of mine without mentioning me and without my permission. Thank you! Also, happy birthday to Daffy Duck and happy birthday to Donald's nephews! And Happy 55th Anniversary Duck Avenger (Paperinik)!

Okey. Eso es todo, amigos UwU

This August 3rd-9th, 2002 TV Guide cover featuring Daffy Duck and Porky Pig as Duck Dodgers and The Eager Young Space Cadet, paired with the Powerpuff Girls, was one of four covers with fun cartoon mashups, celebrating the 50 greatest cartoon characters. Tony Cervone and I provided the art for Daffy and Porky, Darren Hunt and Kevin Mackenzie are credited for the Powerpuff Girls art. For the record, Daffy ranked 14th, Porky finished 47th. (Surprise, Bugs Bunny #1)

why pre-1950s daffy duck should be considered the canon version
synopsis: this personality for daffy was the original idea (name), is more entertaining, complex, and versatile, and is a great way to explore new relationships between this daffy and other characters. i’m also not trying to erase chuck jones’s daffy or gatekeep what version people can like, just my opinion
what i would consider my strongest opinion about looney tunes is that bob clampett’s daffy duck (1930-1951) should be considered the canon personality for daffy duck instead of chuck jones’s daffy duck (1951-1969). what i mean by canon personality is that i think in future looney tunes content (movies, spin-off shows, video games, merchandise, etc.) that version of daffy duck should be the one depicted. we’re already seeing this in stuff like new looney tunes (2014), looney tunes cartoons (2020), and bugs bunny builders (2022), but i think most people still know daffy duck to be selfish, greedy, and caustic. i want the silly, insane, daffy daffy duck to be known in the cultural zeitgeist. i don’t want to erase chuck jones’s daffy duck, because i think that he has made some great cartoons and has lots of potential. the hunting trilogy contains some of the best cartoons in cartoon history. but here’s why the original daffy duck is a more interesting character.
first of all, daffy duck was made to be silly. it’s in his name. the definition of the word “daffy” is silly, odd, or peculiar in an amusing way. and i could argue that this version of daffy duck is more entertaining, but obviously that’s subjective and depends on the personal preference. i’ve always been a huge fan of random and insane cartoon characters, i.e. pinkie pie from my little pony and bill cipher from gravity falls. so instead i will argue that this version of daffy duck is more versatile. jones’s daffy duck can really only be put into situations where there’s something he wants, almost always money, fame, or survival. he then will do anything that he can to get this no matter who gets hurt, usually bugs, and then his plans backfire on him. a very simple format that can only be repeated so many times before being stale. but clampett’s daffy has such a strong personality that he can be put into almost any situation and it be very entertaining. obviously there’s the classic hunter and prey cartoons, like one of my favorites: duck soup to nuts (1944). but there’s so much more. in the daffy doc (1938) he’s a doctor, in porky and daffy (1938) he’s a boxer, in the henpecked duck (1941) and wise quacks (1939) he plays an incompetent husband and father, in plane daffy (1944) and daffy - the commando (1943) he works for the U.S. military, and many, many other examples. jones’s daffy just wouldn’t work in these circumstances, at least not in a way that’s equally entertaining. and clampett’s daffy is so much more versatile because he’s more complicated. the daffy we all know is a very one-dimensional character with simple motives. this is made apparent by the fact that jones’s daffy is a component of clampett’s daffy, as seen in you ought to be in pictures (1940) and daffy dilly (1948). silly daffy is selfish daffy, and so much more. he has a complex relationship with other characters, especially women (i.e. the stupid cupid (1944)), and has a shaky moral compass (i.e. tom turk and daffy (1944)). in 1951 his character was changed, but specifically simplified, to fit with bugs bunny.
which brings me to my next point: imagine bugs bunny with clampett’s daffy duck. why has that combination never been tried? i think that the two of them working together against elmer fudd or yosemite sam has great potential. daffy could be the chaotic and ridiculous one, while bugs has the more thought-out and successful plans and schemes. one of the greatest tragedies in looney tunes is that silly daffy was rarely paired with characters other than porky pig and elmer fudd. what about him with sylvester, foghorn leghorn, witch hazel, or marvin the martian? there are so many possibilities yet to be explored in future looney tunes media. even baffy (a ship i am not a fan of) could be interesting with this version of daffy duck.
anyway, this is something that i’m very passionate about and you need to understand about me before looking at the rest of my posts. i hope this has shown you new possibilities for this beloved character.

Do you own any Looney Tunes production art?
i’m incredibly fortunate enough to say that I DO!! i own this wonderful photostat model sheet from Porky the Wrestler!
Tumblr media
a photostat is essentially the ‘30s equivalent of a photocopy, so it’s not THE actual model sheet drawing, but it was still in the hands of at least one of the animators who worked on the short! if you hold it at a certain angle and get the light to reflect off of it, there are actually some indentations of writing, as if someone was writing on a piece of paper on top of it… and of course the hooves and side snout drawn in marker which aren’t meant to be there (maybe it was a slow work day?)
i actually still haven’t gotten it framed, i need to… but i also just really enjoy being able to hold it in my hands and try and make out the writing indentations on top and also lose my mind at Oh My God Someone In The Tex Avery Unit Touched This At One Point. plus, the material is glossy/has a cardboard sort of feel to it (like a more sturdy printed photograph) so it’s not as delicate as animation paper and gets along fine sitting on my shelf as is HAHA. still, definitely want to find a proper means of displaying it sometime!

I need to say this now. I have decided on this.
Bugs bunny had a prototype before 1940s. And about 2 or 1 before official design.
1938:happy rabbit (actually name before bugs bunny) in a rip off of porky's duck hunt "porky's hare hunt"
Happy rabbit was the first to use the "woody woodpecker laugh" before woody came into the picture
Tumblr media
1939 first change
it does look like a shift from one white rabbit to a grey rabbit.
And yes i will make bugs have that teeth
Tumblr media
1940 2nd change
Then you have bully bugs bunny and bugs was given one more chance to do this right and the next design is what pushed looney tunes to the spot light and rivals to Disney's biggest stars
Tumblr media
1940 3rd and final
Everyone know and love rabbit design
Tumblr media
I am showing everyone, a little history of bugs' looks and showing you what will i do when i get to bugs.
I actually want to do this badly because it funny and really cool to see how my bugs design look in these.
