Superman: *uses his microscopic vision* ah I see
Batman: *looks side to side* clark what?
Superman: you have a polymer dissolving on one corner and it’s causing a chain reaction on your suit
Batman’s suit is about to fall off from directly in the middle as a small line is growing and dissolving leading the 2 halves of the suit to detach
Batman: I KNEW IT, also how did you know that?
Superman: I can telescope my vision into microscopic vision, super useful.
Batman: *think thoughtfully how this makes him an extremely useful partner for crime fighting* how good is it
Superman: oh I can see microbes and viruses and stuff. It’s kinda only useful when I focus and whatever but yeah it’s pretty useful.
Batman: *thinking* portable crime lab hn. Portable crime lab yes.
Superman: *waves his hand in front of batman* wakey wakey!
Batman: you are so incredibly useful wow, I understand why Lex wants to have your babies now
Superman: *sputters in shock* BATMAN WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT!

Saint Francis of Assisi Receiving the Stigmata
1430-1432
Jan van Eyck (Netherlandish (active Bruges), c. 1395–1441)
This brilliant display of Jan van Eyck’s microscopic technique highlights his ability to create pictures that seem at once very sharp yet very far away. The artist meticulously depicted the moment during a forty-day fast in the wilderness when Francis of Assisi received the wounds of the crucified Christ, who is seen here held aloft by a seraph, or angel. Although Van Eyck positioned the scene in the rocky landscape of legend, he included a bustling Netherlandish city in distance, as if to suggest that the miracle is visible outside boundaries of time or geography.
The picture’s small size suggests that it was intended as a portable and personal object, one easily held in the hands and filled with details that reward close and repeated examination. The painting likely traveled in the artist’s lifetime or shortly thereafter, possibly on an early owner’s pilgrimage to Jerusalem.

Atonement Chapter 44: A Sticky Situation
A/N: We havena done this in a very long time… 🥹
Happy five year anniversary to this not-so-wee tale of mine. Thank you so much to all who have come along for the journey. I appreciate you more than you know!
Tumblr media
For better or for worse, they decided to move in straight away.
It was in large part a financial decision. After months of working overtime, Claire had a decent sum tucked away in her checking account, but an indefinite hotel stay was a drain on their savings that they simply couldn’t justify, given the option to stay in the mill for free. As soon as that much was decided, the pair of them had locked into what Claire called triage mode, trying to sort out what they would need to purchase imminently if they were actually going to attempt to live in a half-functional construction zone. Foremost in both of their minds was the pressing issue of heat: Claire insisted that she was fine with just setting up camp near the hearth, and was busy Googling the nearest places to buy firewood in bulk. Unconvinced that the fireplace alone would be sufficient for his painfully thin and perpetually freezing wife, Jamie had pulled up the page for the local hardware store on his own mobile, sifting through the reviews on various portable space heaters that they could position strategically around the house.
After a few minutes, Claire’s musing broke the silence of their individual research. “I suppose if we don’t have a heat source then we don’t have hot water.” As he glanced up from his screen, she made an odd wee movement, squinting one eye as she shifted her hips off to one side and back again. “What are we going to do about showers?”
Pocketing his mobile, he crossed his arms loosely over his front. “Aye, I was just thinkin’ on that myself. The plumbing’s already in, just need to finish gettin’ the boiler system up and running. Shouldna take me more’n a week or two, but”—There it was again, the microscopic spasm of Claire’s cheek, this time as her thighs clenched together—“in the meantime, I reckon we can use the showers over at the gym. It’s no’ but ten minutes down the road.”
“Sounds good,” she said mildly, though the tightness around her eyes didn’t slacken. Jamie regarded her for a long moment, frowning with the effort to pin down the source of her unease. If she wasn’t comfortable showering at the gym, he was sure one of their neighbors would be more than happy to let them use theirs…
Before the offer could even make its way to his lips, though, Claire shifted again, and something about the way she moved the third time — the subtle, swiveling twitch of her pelvis, the grit of her teeth — struck him as familiar where the other motions had eluded him. He knew all too well the squirming discomfort of having an itch in a place that couldn’t be scratched in decent company.
But that was just it: he wasn’t company, he was her husband. There wasn’t an inch of her body that he hadn’t tasted or touched; Christ, he’d been buried to the hilt inside her not half an hour ag—
… oh.
Ohhhh.
Quite abruptly, he struck recognition like a brick wall.

Boatem Hero Six | Character Entries | 1/?
Pearl Escent-Moon
second year biotechnology major at san fransokyo institute of technology
Pearl always had a thing for the flora. Whether it was the tiny lilypads floating in the water, the gorgeous sunflowers glistering in the sunlight, the colorful colors a coral reef displayed... It was like heaven on earth for her, and her parents spent an outrageously long time trying to convince her to at least relocate half of her plants since they claimed that her room wasnt a rainforest. Pearl couldn't think of anything that could stop her trying to make it one, though. (Except basic common sense, which by time we will all notice, this group lacks.)
When she got accepted to the prestigious san fransokyo institute of technology, she was ecstatic. She had always been good at science in her school days, and to connect that with her passion for botany seemed like the perfect choice. Plus, she could have new friends with similar interests with her there. Which made her very happy, since it was a rare occurrence, growing up in a small town and all that.
And well, she did make those friends! Pearl now had Mumbo, Impulse, Scar, Tango... and Gem! of course. Can't believe she almost forgot Gem.
Now, all she needed to do was figuring out what the heck she was gonna do with the strange looking plants that were all over her backyard. Those which behaves unlike any she's seen.
Also maybe check on Grian. He wasn't doing so well recently. But neither was Pearl. Maybe they needed to talk. Maybe they should. Pearl doesn't know. She doesn't know a lot of things. It had been 3 weeks. They all needed answers.
But she just got permission to use one of the portable super microscopes outside of school! And those turquoise twisty viney things developed a sticky exterior that was just begging to be studied.
pearl once believed that everything could be solved with a closer look. she wasn't sure about that anymore.

Ah yes, the perfect cage for my assorted microscopic food chickens!
I hope you are also amused by this nonsense.
Tumblr media
Lol I'm visually impaired so I can't even see what they are supposed to be. Potato's?
Also in case anyone see this and wants to buy it I hope no one is buying bird cages off temu, birds are so sensitive to heavy metals. If anyone is looking for a house chicken cage I suggest this with both wire extensions on both sides.

as someone who has also found my dead cat (although. not outside. he died inside as he was an inside cat), it usually is safe to pick it up with a bag of some sort.
If you live in a place where it snows, there is a chance of your cat dying from antifreeze someone left out. it apparently tastes good to a lot of animals, leading to cases where animals may drink some and then die.
sometimes it can be internal issues like cancer, liver/kidney failure (extremely common in cats), or other random issues that could occur. if your cat's skin is more yellow than the usual pinkish undertones, it's typically a sign of liver issues of some sort having occurred.
I do suggest not touching your cat directly if possible and try to carefully move it into a bag in case it was caused by a disease. check if there are known cases of rabies in your area as well in general, as it spreads through liquids even if there are no known wounds- and if you have microscopic cuts you can still get infected (just for safety). if you use any tools to move the body, disinfect them immediately and do not touch areas that touched the body until after this is done throughly. rabies is likely not the case as it likely wouldn't kill as fast but still a concern put of context.
You can do a lot with the body, but it's up to you what you want to do. in my house we cremate our pets, but I know some people bury or simply throw the body away.
I'm sorry for your loss, I am just trying to tell you what you may need to do. I didn't personally do a lot of stuff, but I do know that these are the basic steps sadly. see if your vet does anything about this stuff as well <:(
it's not our cat, is the thing. we have a small little portable house for the strays that come by and one crawled in and died. all OUR cats are strictly indoor i promise but that's why im ehhh on touching it cause we don't know why that happened

Small steps for electrons—big steps for the future? Ultrafast microscope reveals electron pathways in solar cells
In the search for more efficient and sustainable energy generation methods, a class of materials called metal halide perovskites have shown great promise. In the few years since their discovery, novel solar cells based on these materials have already achieved efficiencies comparable to commercial silicon solar cells. Yet, perovskite solar cells offer significant advantages over silicon: Their manufacturing and energy costs are lower, as they can be produced using cost-effective coating processes. Moreover, their flexibility and lightweight nature allows for application on a wide range of surfaces, from portable electronics to innovative building facades. But how does a solar cell actually work? Sunlight, which consists of individual light quanta called photons, is absorbed in the solar cell. The photons transfer their energy to electrons, lifting them to higher-energy states where they are free to move. The free electrons are then extracted at electrical contacts and converted into usable electrical energy.

[Ivan approaches a little nervously, he had gotten lost on the Tulpar a couple times before this, but even a couple weeks into their shipment, he was still getting lost. And worse: he was very awkward with talking to new people.]
"Uhm... Hi, Captain." [He greeted, his speech stiff and his tone rather meek.] "Could you direct me to where the medical room is? I'm a little... lost."
[The Tulpar had recently been given an addition before their mission, a new space built on to the medbay that was a small lab with stuff like a microscope, and other scientific equipment for testing to help further treat any serious ailments that may occur in the duration of the crew's mission on the Tulpar]
[A new room comes with a new crew member, too. Ivan was a complete newbie: which explained why he didn't feel comfortable with the crew yet. He hadn't actually spoke with Curly very often, and sort of stuck to talking to Anya or Daisuke more than anyone else on the ship.]
-@biiologoly
Curly is shredding papers, in the lounge. For once.
The shredder is company owned and portable, so in a blue moon he'll get bored of sitting in the cockpit, and take it up to a cozier area. Plop down a decent stack that grew from neglecting the print pan, must be fifty or so papers - and, into the metal jaws they go.
It is a redundant process. What's he even shredding? P.E Updates & Promos? Fan mail? Doesn't matter. He feeds one, two, three, sheets at a time, into the machine. It has a peeling label slapped onto the side, stating it can handle four; maybe in it's youth, but now the thing is making an ugly noise when he slows down to two sheets.. one sheet.. And it overheats, still.
Every handful of papers, the damn thing overheats. Doesn't matter if he pulls pages apart individually; doesn't matter if he waits a moment before shredding the next. It overheats, stutters, like a man choking on a meal; and he has to stand there, 'patiently' tapping his foot, or mentally reciting the seven or so phrases that the mascot across the room gargles out. Sometimes he likes to think the Pony Express bothers to throw in a new line every now and again. Keep him on his toes going into another Haul. Polle says, Polle says..
But he's knocked off that ladder, by a voice.
Almost unrecognizable. Shit. Spooks him for a moment, until he remembers - they just keep adding on, don't they? Funny. The less someone speaks to you, the less time they give you to learn their voice. They'd really lucked out with Daisuke. Second times a charm, now the Captain is getting startled by a newbie asking for directions.
...
Glancing at Ivan, Curly blinks. Then, he smiles.
“ Having a hard time, huh. ” Well. That's not an answer. Or, helpful. He flicks the off button on the top of the machine, green light fading out as he absorbs the common area, without the sound of paper being split apart like a caught hand.
“ No bother. You're actually pretty warm. ”

Friendly local librarian here with the answer to some FAQs as well as some fun library facts! :D
Q. How much does it cost to get a library card?
A. The answer to this depends on where you live and your age.
Most public libraries in North America* are free, although the ones in smaller communities may charge a small fee to cover the cost of the card and welcome package (back in the early aughts when my local library charged a fee it was $12 a year). That being said, if you cannot afford the fee, I can guarantee that they will waive it for you.
Also, its worth noting that regardless of how much it may cost an adult, I have never ever ever heard of a public library that charges for children’s and teens’ library cards.
Q. What kinds of things can I check out at the library?
A. This will vary wildly from library system to library system and even from branch to branch, but here are some of the things libraries around the world lend out to their patrons:
Newspapers
Magazines
DVDs
CDs
Video games
Pedometers
Fishing tackle
Dogs
Power tools
Clothing for the homeless
Mobile wi-fi hotspots
Bikes
Seeds
Fishing poles
Museum passes
Musical instruments
Green screens
Hobby supplies
Garden plots
Prom dresses
Local music streaming
Camping and hiking kits
Movie streaming services
Online magazine, comic book, and newspaper services
Book club kits
Sports equipment
Crayons
Ukranian egg decorating kits
Analog/tabletop games
Santa suits
Video game consoles
Laptops
iPads
eReaders
Umbrellas
Karaoke machines
Snowshoes
Room for wedding receptions
Knitting needles
Animal skeletons
Sewing patterns and kits
Electricity usage monitors
Cider mills
Car ramps
Detailed models of the human brain
Metal detectors
Portable disc golf baskets
Telescopes
Microscopes
Kitchen tools
People (the international “Living Library” project)
Sources: CBC, Mental Floss, ProQuest, How Stuff Works, MNN
Q. I have mobility issues getting to the library. Does that mean I can’t use it then?
A. Absolutely not!
For starters, most libraries have free online resources you can log into using your library card info. Most libraries also have a delivery program for people who are housebound or have mobility issues of any kind. Some libraries even have special programs especially for housebound people, such as book clubs that meet via Google Chat or Skype instead of in person (and if yours doesn’t, why not suggest they start one?)
Libraries for sparsely populated areas usually have some sort of program where they can mail stuff to you so you don’t have to go all the way to wherever they are... and in some places the library will just come to you! See if your library has a bookmobile schedule to pass by your area! :)
* I can’t speak for libraries elsewhere but I’d imagine this likely applies to them too.
