In elementary school we had music class and one of the songs we sang was the Kookaburra song. And of course there's the line "gay your life must be". Being a bunch of elementary schoolers the word gay got some giggles but our teacher explained to us that words have different meanings and that gay was also a word for happy.

In high school I was in the choir class and the Kookaburra song was one of our warm up songs. Our teacher scribbled out the word gay from the music and replaced it with great, would put extra emphasis on the word great and insisted that we sing it "right"
