I mean—why not? I agree that it’s massively historically implausible for it to have happened and that if it had happened the world would look very very different from how it looks now. Maybe the claim you’re making is if European and Native governments had negotiated (and followed) mutually understood, benefiting, and respected treaties not backed by any threats, colonialism would not have occurred—I certainly agree with that. Or are you arguing that the Native and European governments fundamentally lacked the ability to negotiate legitimate treaties because they were too bourgeoise? I could agree with that as well, although I would once again ask, is there a hypothetical but impossible history where Native and European governments were sufficiently proletariat that they could negotiate legitimate treaties? Or do you deny the ability for any two governments to negotiate legitimate treaties? I wouldn’t agree with that on a pragmatic level but I could appreciate it from a abstract level.

I feel like when I read some of your posts I think we agree on all of the object level issues—colonialism was bad, settler colonialism would not have occurred under any legitimate treaty, none of the treaties that did exist were anything close to legitimate under any ethical legal framework, there’s no ethical legal framework which would have justified colonialism, the US does not primarily wage war with the intent to uphold some international law, etc.—but I don’t get the points you’re reaching towards at an abstract level.

although obviously i understand why it is used and that it can have a great deal of pragmatic use when applied towards the goal of extracting concessions from settler-colonial governments i v. v. strongly disagree with the rhetoric of calling US/Canadian tribal treaties 'illegitimate', or arguing that tribal land was never 'legally ceded', simply because it implicitly accepts the framing that there is some sort of theoretical 'legitimate' way in which settler colonialism and the appropriation of indigenous land could have been conducted, or that there is some specific legal formulation which had it been mutually agreed upon would have justified colonialism. i feel v. similarly about people calling the iraq war 'illegal', emphasizing that the US 'violates international law', or calling sanctions 'criminal'. bourgeois law exists to justify & legitimize the economic domination of the bourgeoisie--it's not a useful framework to buy into--it is unstable and hostile epistemological ground to work from.

I really hope all you people insisting Bruce Wayne is a mother figure to any of his children know he canonically spends 80% of his Mother’s Days lashing out + isolating himself from everyone while woefully perching in the trees above Martha’s grave. and if he’s not doing that he’s spending the other 20% thinking about how he fundamentally failed Leslie Thompkins as a person.

He’s not a ‘Mother’ because he doesn’t know what cemented motherhood is LIKE, or how to experience it in a healthy way!! Which I think is wayy more interesting to explore (especially when you take that in relation to other characters) without forgetting the actual wonderful dc moms <3

I wasn’t going to post this because I really don’t want to be negative or unprofessional, but I keep getting comments and anon asks like this, so I just wanted to preface. I can promise you that if you comment under a post or submit an ask and complain about something I’ve wrote or a concept you didn’t like that I will not change it on your behalf just bc it’s “boring”, not smutty enough, not angsty enough, not how you wanted it to play out, or you simply just didn’t like it.

At the end of the day everything is fictional. Fanfiction written about fictional characters for free. None of it is real. And unless you put in a request (even then I pick the concepts I want to write about) I’m writing for me, improvement, my preferences, ideas, and my enjoyment and fun to share with the fandom.

You’re free to scroll by, unfollow me, or block me, but a rude comment isn’t going to do anything but get yourself blocked. There are plenty other works out there that WILL meet you fancy, other authors that WILL write deeply painful fics or dabble into more dead dove concepts than I do or literally anything you’re upset I didn’t do. But that’s not me! Your comment won’t make me change that.

If your opinion is so strong that you have to make a rude comment, great! I’m glad you’re passionate, write your own fic about it then!

Why are Eurylochus and Odysseus allowed to look like Jorge or Armando but Polites is never allowed to look like Steven or even have like a fragment of his skin tone?

I understand that these characters predate Jorge and he doesn’t own him (if you’re going based off of the Greek texts for designs then this post isn’t about you) but it just seems a little odd when the designs look to be based off the actors and Polites is never allowed to look like Steven even though in the official animatics Jorge commissioned he is darker in skin tone than Odysseus.

that one episode of bob’s burgers where gene dresses up like bob for the day except it’s a 6 year old jin ling dressed up as his jiujiu, parading around lp in magnificent purple robes that are a little too big for him with his head held high giving orders to anyone passing by in a tone reminiscent of jc and a slight scowl on his face, and jiang cheng despite his feigned annoyance and grumbling feels his heart simultaneously overflow with the love he has for a nephew that looks so much like his jiejie in those purple robes and break for the love that same nephew will never know

+ (when jc asks jl what he’s doing and jl replies saying that he wants to be just like his jiujiu, underneath jc yelling out brat and hidden behind his scoff as he turns his head is the holding back of tears because this is all simply too much)

and it’s not hard to notice but everyone at ymj carry a special almost delicate softness in their heart at the simple sight of jl that day
