asteroid city is a dense text and it is saying so many things all at once but i will never get over how it is such a raw look into an artist's psyche and their relationship with their art and the world around them and how art is intertwined with every aspects of their being even the way they love and loss and process the monumental grief and question of existence. with the way the 'real' world bleeds into asteroid city play set constantly and the way its real world break the fourth wall in the subtlest of way, maybe there is no differentiation between art and real life and artists are always going to give a part of their souls to their works, maybe they cant make sense of the world without their art, and maybe it is tragic maybe it isn't maybe it is the only way to keep going in this senseless universe where nothing is certain and alien comes down from the sky and upend your world, just keep telling the story

windows/linux rant

unrelated to SMT or anything on my blog currently I guess...

I keep seeing the "prep for windows 11" thing show up on my computer, and it upsets me every time that you have to have a microsoft account to install it.

windows 10 reaches end of support next year~~

I hope by then the computer I"m using will actually let me run linux on it instead of an outdated windows os....

I want to run linux on this machine so bad but whenever I try to install it, it seems to install fine and dandy

and then it won't boot

I've snooped around in the BIOS, disabled the "smart startup" or "secure startup" or whatever else I thought was borking the boot for linux.

but it still won't boot~~~

and sadly i've got games on here that only work on windows anyway.

I'd much rather be able to stay relatively safe online and maintain an OS, than play the games I bought on steam....

something is preventing linux from booting on this machine, it upsets me when I think about it, and it upsets me more when I try to install linux and it goes fine, but then doesn't boot

cause I have to take the time to reinstall windows again.....

why computer? why won't you let linux boot? what do I need to do to you to have linux actually boot? I don't understand...

running an ASUS ROG Stryx gaming pc that I bought on impulse years ago. so you'd think linux mint would boot just fine, right??

how do I fix it? if I can fix it? especially if I don't destroy the data on the second hard drive of this thing. I've got stuff I don't want to lose on here, preferably....

romeo & growth vs destruction goes sooo hard in my sick and twisted mind. he likes destroying, and is very skilled at it — and that’s always been a thing for him, even before the admin, although he especially leaned into it then. growth is boring. it’s fickle. you could do it wrong and then have to start from scratch, and it’ll all die anyway, so who cares? there is no patience for farming, and that vein extends to crafting, to cooking, to creation of any kind … it isn’t shocking that romeo stops bothering with all of it post powers, when he no longer has to suffer through those processes to live, when his body is finally too good for it. but then fred dies and romeo goes to the cabin and plants a tree, and he plants flowers, and he tends to it all beneath artificial lights he built ( likely by hand, since he probably didn’t want to tarnish the cabin with his powers — didn’t want to acknowledge the admin there ) and it’s perhaps the first time he’s ever grown anything and saw it through. he takes painstaking care of it all and the flowers grow wild from it and the birch tree grows thicker, higher, is adorned by many healthy leaves and the bark is healthy. he must have really loved fred, huh.
