Etymology of 'precocious'
1640s, "developed or ripe before the usual time," originally of plants, with -ous + Latin praecox (genitive praecocis) "maturing early," from prae "before" (see pre-) + coquere "to ripen," literally "to cook" (from PIE root *pekw- "to cook, ripen").
Originally of flowers or fruits. Figurative use, of persons, dates, etc., "characteristic of early maturity," by 1670s. Related: Precociously; precociousness. Obsolete princock "pert, forward, saucy boy or youth" (16c.-18c.) might be a rude, low slang folk-etymology alteration of Latin praecox.

hi there
sorry, but am I the only one who thinks that Layla being too sexualized in the manga?
You are probably not the only one, and I might have to agree.
It's made quite clear she's meant to be very young, or at least look very young. But she's saying some extremely suggestive things, so suggestive that even Lau thinks it's not really appropriate for her position as a nurse. That comment about her following a different script, as a prime example.
You could say she's getting the Sieglinde treatment here -- little girl who seems entirely too precocious for her own good. We know Sieglinde is younger than our earl, and Baldo says Layla looks about our earl's age, right? So, she's older than Sieglinde... but still quite young. We know something about why Sieglinde says such inappropriate things, but why does Layla? What's Layla's backstory? 🤔

For a while I thought my gift with words and for reading, as well as my obsessive love of books, meant I couldn't be autistic. LOL! Turns out I am actuallyAutistic, but also I'm hyperlexic.

a small child came into the café today and asked to buy a chocolate truffle. he tapped a credit card on the reader and it did not go through, mainly because it was not a credit card but in fact a junior cinema pass. i gently explained he couldn't use that to buy things in shops and he looked so gutted that i was like "...but just this once you can have it for free, don't tell my boss though" he said thank you and walked out with his truffle and as he went i heard him chuckling to himself and saying "yes..... yes!!!!!" like the sickos comic

One Great Thing about Millie Bobby Brown
Factoring in how young she is, Millie Bobby Brown may just be the most intelligent person in show business.
This is a spoiler alert for a Vanity Fair lie detector segment, but she, just 18, already knew how to fake a "true" answer. Someone in the comments astutely pointed out how she took a deep, meditative breath before telling a lie... and for another layer of trickiness, the only lie she told was at the end, when asked if she told any lies. That's actually the philosopher's "liar paradox", indicating that she has done some rather deep reading.
Not only this, but she did the "box" segment on Jimmy Fallon, which contains some of Fallon's few genuine reactions, and she faked him out better than any other guest ever did, again at just 18.
Heck, some consider me a genius, but even at 38, I would have a challenge, despite more experience, matching wits with her in any context. I have a high regard for my brain, and I could, I am certain, outwit some Oscar winners, but Millie is my intellectual superior, without a doubt. At 38, she will probably own her own production studio, if she wants it.
Some worry about former child stars, understandably, but of this I am sure: Don't worry about Millie. She is way, way ahead of the game.
