Whenever I tell stories to online friends about all the funny shit my family has done/people they know, or the completely weird adventures and traveling I used to do, I get this like sharp sadness in my chest.

I've always been obsessively online, but man, I used to travel and use fandom and online community as an excuse for it. I'd go to cities and meet people and go to shows and do some super probably unsafe things just to get out and see things.

And since the pandemic I just can't bring myself to make plans to do things like that again. It's not even the fear of illness or strangers -- it's more like I was forcibly made to put down roots and have obligations that I don't think I would have if 2020 had gone differently. I don't dislike my life now, but I do think it's startling how much of a clear divide of then and now there is.

so I got a 156 on my first practice exam on khan academy! I'm actually really proud of this score because I feel like it's a solid start and gives me a lot of room for growth. I want to take the actual exam for the first time at the beginning of 2024 so hopefully 6-7 months of studying will help me improve by a lot. My worst section was analytical reasoning/logic games which was literally insane when I first saw the section like I had no idea what was going on. Today (for my first real study day) I began with going through some practice problems and learning how to actually draw out and think about ordering and grouping problems.
