Eleine: Live Review Pittsburgh, PA
This used to be easy, I imagine. “They” were great, go see them or “they” weren’t, don’t. When did the openers get so good?
Moonspell, Eleine and Tiwanaku played Preserving Underground last Saturday and I was smart enough to attend. Church basement, but no potluck dinner. Just metal.
Tiwanaku played from Earth Base One, an album 20 years in the making. And we thought (name ) was a…

not seein enough appreciation for paul billings!! literally such an interesting character
the way he follows the Pact so devoutly while also hiding an aspect of himself (violating the Pact by putting the Silo at risk) in order to protect his job and his family... it's a huge moral dilemma for him, and it's going to be really interesting to see what they do with that, especially if he starts to really question his loyalty to the Pact and the Founders
anyways idk why people aren't paying more attention to him as a character, he's a vital part of the show and has a lot of potential to be so interesting. he already is, but his story is just getting started, so it's only going to get better from here

was running around in the cosmodrome (beloved <3) last night to grab refs and now am thinking a lot about how the general like design philosophy specifically for environments has changed between d1 and d2 (especially d2 as is now). thinking about d1 as being very rooted in its own post apoc aesthetic (almost every planet you were on you were running around ruins) and how d2 just feels concretely different than that especially with places like the dreaming city and throne world as much as i absolutely adore those places. not sure what the point of this is im just Considering

An employee has been fired from the British Museum for stealing artefacts and that's hilarious because 99% of the shit in that museum is already stolen.
By pirate and math law, stealing something that is stolen is fine, 2 negatives cancel each other out.
It would've been even funnier if they were sending the artefacts back home but I doubt it.

"Researchers found microplastics in soil deposits more than seven meters (23 feet) underground, which were deposited in the first or second century CE and excavated in the 1980s, a team led by researchers from the University of York in the United Kingdom said in a statement published Friday.
In total, the study identified 16 different microplastic polymer types in contemporary and archived soil samples, the statement adds.
[...]
“This feels like an important moment, confirming what we should have expected: that what were previously thought to be pristine archaeological deposits, ripe for investigation, are in fact contaminated with plastics, and that this includes deposits sampled and stored in the late 1980s,” John Schofield, a professor and director of studies in the University of York’s Department of Archaeology, said in the statement."
[...]
“Our best-preserved remains—for example, the Viking finds at Coppergate (in the city of York)— were in a consistent anaerobic waterlogged environment for over 1000 years, which preserved organic materials incredibly well,” he said in the statement.
“The presence of microplastics can and will change the chemistry of the soil, potentially introducing elements which will cause the organic remains to decay. If that is the case, preserving archaeology in situ may no longer be appropriate.”
