Carburundum grit aquatint collagraph, in 60 seconds! I love collagraph for the ability to make prints from trash--the technology is easy, leaving room to master subtleties of image making instead of focusing on complex chemistry. This is a process where you create a collagraph plate and print using evenly sized grit and wood glue. The glued down bits of grit grab onto and hold ink, and the glossy gloss releases it. It's a similar effect to aquatint, an etching process. The actual running through the press happens off screen. I haven't done this process in years, so it was fun to get back to it. I made this to teach someone and the finished video is a bit longer, but here's a version that fits in a shorter format

Немного печатного процесса на примере нанесения одноцветного рисунка на хлопковую сумку. На самом деле я обычно печатаю не по одной штуке как тут, а по нескольку экземпляров сразу, что логично.

Как можно заметить, подготовительные танцы с бубном вокруг экрана составляют значительную часть работы, и это еще тут нет про экспонирование и, конечно же, про мытье всего и вся. То есть чтобы произошло самое вкусное, это когда ты берешь ракель и вжух! – получится отпечаток, надо еще много чего сделать.

Но я в этом нахожу свой особый прикол. Это как в путешествии – не только пункт прибытия, но и дорога имеет значение.

Today was our first day at work with new students. @luluhorsfield_studio set a zine project, which I was told I had to do to (I didn't finish it, yet), so I thought I'd practice with a classic @georgeyarnton technique; using the single colour print function on the photocopier to replicant 4 colour screen printing. The first image is as far as I got in the few minutes I had. In the second image I used the wrong colour setting, so switched the red and blue. Images 3-6 are my separate colour layers that were used to photocopy individually onto a single piece of paper. Week 2 of #marchmeetthemaker starting off with 'Work In Progress' This is what I'm working on at the moment - it will eventually be a multi-block lino print of a bag of Nishiki rice. Two of the blocks are ready, one is underway and the last one has yet to be started. You may be wondering why I have wasted so much space on each block..I am using the Japanese method of registration called 'kento' (see next image) where the paper is aligned to a carved out corner for each block. I will likely cut up and re-use these lino blocks once I have printed enough of this design.
