anaroceit is so fun because it's so MESSY. there's so much sticky drama and lingering wounds and conflicting emotions all around. they're each individually dramatic & high strung and all of that amps up to a million when they're together. virgil & janus' one-sided hatred/sardonic teasing abt an unspoken shared history + janus & roman's budding camaraderie torn down by janus' manipulations + roman & virgil growing past their animosity into a bright & vivid friendship = the hardest relationship they've ever been in, but also the most rewarding

Roman deserves all the monster bfs

Anaroceit concept:

• K so Prinxiety's together, right (it took one closet "incident" to get them together because they're both super stubborn and Patton, Logan, and Remus got tired of their shenanigans)

• And they kinda just confess that they both like Janus and that they want to date him too

• So basically they formulate this plan: flirt with Janus and basically woo him into their relationship because Roman's a hopeless romantic and Virgil's just hopeless

• But the one problem is that they don't know how to flirt. Like at all.

• They just treat Janus like the way they treated each other before they got together which was as a "nemesis" and act like they have a rivalry with him and use that to get some homoerotic subtext

• That's what they think flirting is.

• And of course, Janus isn't fully getting it. He only thinks that they're just becoming friendlier with him because it's either that or face Patton's disappointed look (and he just pretends his heart doesn't ache when Roman pushes up against a wall and speaks so close to him, their noses are touching. Or when Virgil engages in a glaring (staring, really) match with Janus across the kitchen when Janus could swear he saw Virgil's eyes flick to his lips for a second)

• He isn't getting that Prinxiety's trying to flirt with him like, at all, is what I'm saying

• And Prinxiety gradually begins to think that Janus isn't interested and back off

• And Janus realizes that they're probably done trying to befriend him and settles just for that

• Until one night when the three are up watching shitty horror movies (by the request of Virgil and Janus, who Roman can't say no to without feeling physical pain)

• Janus is immensely tired and drowsy and is basically acting drunk and keeps flirting with Virgil and Roman every second he gets

• And once they're done and are about to go upstairs, Janus kisses Virgil and Roman on the cheek and sleepily bids them good night before passing out in their arms because Janus isn't accustomed to staying up so late because he's an actually functional human (well, humanoid)

• And cue a panicking Virgil who's worried that Janus fucking died on him and a dazed Roman who has to goofiest smile on his face because Janus just kissed him and Virgil on the cheek fjxjfjc

• Roman quickly snaps out of it however when he sees his bf try and literally slap Janus awake

• They eventually get Janus into bed, swear they'll inform him of what happened in the morning, which they do

• Prinxiety explains that they're kinda into him and they were wondering if Janus would be interested in dating them and Janus says "YES" before asking, "Why didn't you ever tell me before tho"

• Prinxiety shares a look before turning back to him "we did??" They explain that they were flirting with him and Janus is just like "no that's not flirting"

• Virgil groans that it was all Roman's idea and Roman's just trying to defend his half-baked plan and Janus is looking at them with the fondest look ever

• Janus sighs, "Well, if you ever need help with flirting, I'm always down the hall~" and with that (and a kiss on the cheek for both Roman and Virgil) he left to get breakfast, leaving a very flustered and very happy couple of dorks in his room

Just give me a Prinxiety that's completely awful at flirting and a Janus who's completely unaware that they're trying to flirt with him in the first place

“i love you both, so much,” roman says, squeezing their hands as he leans in to kiss them - janus first, then virgil. “i cannot wait to be back in your arms again.”

“roman, it’s not forever,” janus laughs. “one of us has to move into the new apartment in order to secure the lease, and virgil and i both still have a few days of work left. we’ll be with you in five days.”

“five days without my loves! how will i ever recover?” roman complains, dramatically swooning into them. virgil side-steps him neatly and lets him collapse onto the pavement like the drama queen he is. 

“top ten anime betrayals,” janus drones. virgil laughs so hard he nearly joins his lover on the floor.

Inspired by this

-Roman and Deceit go to that movie theater a LOT-They both love having movie dates (Roman thinks they can be both very romantic or very goofy; they have flexibility; Deceit likes the Sins He Can Commit In The Dark which are mostly just kissing Roman til he’s red as a tomato; they both like the show they get with it all)-But there’s only one movie theater that’s close to them, and that’s the one Virgil works as-Virgil is sarcastic all the time towards them, mostly because he and Deceit were ~rivals~ in high school and he knows he (nor his boyfriend) wouldn’t report him to his manager for just acting like he always has-And when he’s on shift (which he is a lot- he needs the money) he always makes sure to be the one helping them-Roman’s frustrated that all his cutesy couple moments are being Ruined by Virgil but he will NEVER stop saying cheesy stuff because he refuses to be beaten by an angsty popcorn butter-er-Deceit’s just amused by the whole thing, since his and Virgil’s rivalry always has been and likely always will be some petty little thing that doesn’t actually matter that much, so he’s never really insulted by any of it-(Which is good, because if he was, Roman has promised multiple times he’d threaten Virgil with his sword. Deceit doubted Virgil would care, but Roman might drop it and cut someone’s toe)-This whole thing goes on a while-As in roceit visits the movies at least once a week (they are ADDICTED to cinema) and at least once a week Virgil ‘helps’ them with a side of extra salt-They’ve come when Virgil’s not really been on his game, though

-Sometimes it’ll be late and it’s clear he hasn’t slept in too long as he mumbles his way through their transaction-Sometimes he’ll be too busy glaring at another employee to be witty, and they know he must have just gotten chewed out for a stupid reason-Sometimes he’ll just… look at them, with some odd look in his eyes, before he checks them out as quickly as possible and with as few words as possible-Roman and Deceit notice-They’re not sure, exactly, when they decided they needed to help protect the emo who always made fun of them, but they have and they will-They’ll make the employee who was a jerk to Virgil enjoy an absolutely horrible transaction-Or they’ll just awkwardly tell Virgil he’s doing good before they go to their movie-When he’s tired, they remind him to go home soon, to rest-More than a few times they’ve driven him home after their movie when it’s clear he shouldn’t be trusted behind a wheel-And for his off days, they just make sure to slip him a bigger tip, since they know he needs the money-They don’t have too many breaks in their ‘rivalry’ but they do have some, and those moments are their breaks-One day, they come to the movies like usual, noting that Virgil seems happier than usual. they don’t ask after this, but they’re both (not-so-) secretly happy to see him happy-After he’s helped them, though, he tells them the cause: he’s got a new job, and given two weeks notice. it’s better paying, more within his interests-Deceit and Roman accept the news outwardly excitedly, inner-wardly excited... and upset-They had gotten used to seeing Virgil at the movies, after all, and their back-and-forth had become very familiar. they were both loathe to lose it, but this was better for Virgil! and though they’d never say it to the soon-to-be-ex-movie theater employee’s face, they wanted him to have only the best-They did start going to the movies more in those two weeks, though, trying to enjoy the last of all of this-And by ‘more’ I mean they went to multiple movies every. single. day. because they did still have work, this meant a lot of real late and early movies, but they made it work-The only thing was this: if they walked in and saw Virgil wasn’t behind the counter? they’d leave and come for the next showing they wanted to see-They were coming here for a REASON after all-Virgil seemed amused by the attention + extra final chances to roast poor Deceit, so he never mentioned it-Now, all of this? It was leading up to something... a plan.-Because Deceit and Roman had seen a lot of Virgil, had gotten used to his snark and his sarcastic tone and his smirks and frowns and deadpan expressions, had gotten used to his sense of humor and interests, had gotten used to him-And as that deadline approached for their time with him to be cut short, the both of them were realizing very quickly they didn’t want to lose him-So they had a plan-They came in for their final movie on Virgil’s final day-You could tell it was his last day- he wasn’t in uniform, he looked more carefree than ever, and when they ordered he didn’t even ring them up; just handed over the drinks and grub, free of charge-‘what’re they gonna do, fire me?’ Virgil had asked with a grin when Roman looked at him in shock-‘happy to be almost gone, I can tell’ Roman commented idly-‘there’s only so much fake butter a man can smell before he goes mad’ Virgil joked back. ‘besides, it’s even better knowing I’ll never have to see your boyfriend’s ugly mug ever again’-‘yeah well have you- uh’ Roman stopped, looked at Deceit, looked back at an unimpressed Virgil, continued, ‘y’know, boyfriend- your- I mean-’ another pause, dramatic hand motion, slamming his hands into the counter, ‘our!’-Virgil didn’t respond aside from looking at Deceit in confusion-‘mind my boyfriend... for such a romantic he’s not great at pick-up lines...’ Deceit said, only making Virgil look more confused until he added, ‘though he could be our boyfriend’-Virgil blinked at him. once. twice. looked at Roman. blinked again.-‘what?’ he asked, finally, sounding torn between extremely bewildered and almost hopeful-‘we’re trying to ask you out.’ Deceit clarified. ‘as you can tell, we’re amazing at it.’-‘...you’re gonna have to say that again, because it’s still not making sense-’-‘we want to DATE you, emo daydream!’ Roman finally said, cheeks immediately blushing a dark red even as he stared Virgil right in the eyes-Virgil froze up at that, both the confusion and hope in his expression increasing. ‘I- wha- why?’-‘because you’re pretty, and cute, and funny albeit snarky, and because of that me and Roman can to the shared conclusion that we don’t want all of that to walk out of our life just because you got a new job’-Virgil didn’t respond to that for a minute, instead just looking down at the counter, clearly lost in thought-finally he says, slowly, awkwardly, ‘...that might be... nice. you guys are... also nice’-‘I’m pretty sure that means ‘I love you’ in awkward introvert language’-Deceit lightly elbowed Roman, though considering Roman was leaning against Deceit’s side + holding his arm as he stared stupidly adoringly at Virgil, it wasn’t very effective. ‘you’re going to scare him off’-‘no, no, I don’t mean it scathingly. I think it’s... cute.’-Virgil who up until now had been doing pretty well at being more shocked than flustered, was beginning to lose that battle. ‘shut up, princey’-Roman puckered his lips. ‘make me?’-Deceit gently shoved Roman away from the counter. ‘I’d apologize for his antics, but you’re well-versed in them’-‘that I am’-Deceit smiled and handed Virgil a card with both his and Roman’s numbers on it. ‘call us so we can set up a date, yeah?’-‘uh... yeah’ Virgil said, cheeks flushing a shade darker just at the thought of a date.-Deceit nodded, still smiling as he collected the food (passing drinks to Roman), the two of them heading off-‘wait!’-Roman and Deceit turned back towards Virgil-Virgil didn’t say anything at first, the ‘wait’ clearly having been spur of the moment. finally, he lifted the card, almost pointlessly, and said lamely, ‘enjoy your movie’-Roman and Deceit smiled back at him. ‘we will’ they promised, before heading to their film-They didn’t uphold that promise, considering they didn’t pay any attention to the movie at all-But given they were instead more occupied with thinking (and talking) about their new boyfriend, they were fairly certain Virgil would forgive them

some more adventures of the hat, and Deceit’s there too I guess, @loveceit gave the prompts my brain ran away with everything else

Patton must have said something about his lack of warm clothes to the others. 

That was the only explanation Deceit could come up with for Roman presenting multiple large fluffy jumpers and a sleek winter coat to him the next morning. Even Virgil in the middle of offering his old black hoodie for the days he wanted to walk before Roman arrived and Logan had already put gloves on the desk in Deceit’s room with no explanation offered.

He wasn’t going to argue though, the jumpers and coat were things he’d like to wear, so at least Roman understood his style fairly well.

“And if you are ever cold, my arms are always open for a cuddle or twenty.” Roman offered having been explaining his design choices while Deceit pondered over the gifts.

“That sounds nice? I’m sure Patton didn’t mean you to go to this extreme though. We’re moving out of winter weather now.” Deceit had to pull up his usual composure to ignore the offer. With Roman offers like that could mean anything from him needing them and trying not to request them, to a romantic gesture and Deceit wanted a little more to work out what was intended here.

“Oh he didn’t ask for me to make you anything. All Patton did was mention giving you a scarf and seeing your hat then while Logan worried he’d managed to actually lose it.” Roman dismissed the concern, waving it away with his dramatic gestures.

Virgil pushed past them then, “Sure just out do anything the rest of us could do because you’re creativity.” He groused, already curling up onto Deceit’s bed. “Come on Dee, I didn’t sleep last night looking for that hoodie. Let’s have a nap?”

Deceit glanced between the pair, taking in both pouts, one for his offer seemingly being outdone and the other for his offer of cuddles getting ignored and being shoved aside. “Why don’t we all have a nap while I see just how soft this sweater is?” He decided, happily choosing the compromise as he was quite happy with any resolution. He did then have to actually pick one of the three sweaters to wear, deciding the pastel yellow one with a black snake curved around it would be perfect..

There was only a moment to enjoy getting cuddled by Virgil once he was on the bed before Roman was pulling Deceit back towards him again. A moment after that and they were all comfortably cuddled together with Deceit snuggled in the middle.

Of course Virgil woke Dee up a few hours later muttering about opportunistic princes as both Roman and the bowler had left the room. Their competition was not even paused for a nap apparently.

Time Lapse!AU: Where the day you and your soulmate meet happens over and over until you meet properly but make it anaroceit bc I do what I want

Roman and Virgil are soulmates. They've known that since they were in high school, but the day of their meeting certainly wasn't something that they wanted to relive. With Virgil having a panic attack during every cycle (they took far longer than their peers, around two months of it (they're stupid, get over it)) and Roman just about doing the same.

So, of course, that's exactly what happened when they went on their 4th anniversary date. But at least this time they have each other with them every step of the way.

And the cute waiter with heterochromia giving them smoldering looks whenever he thought they weren't looking didn't hurt either. Especially when he gave them different responses and suggestions everytime they showed up during each cycle, almost as if he was also going through the soulmate cycle with them.

Which... made more sense when he confessed to a drunk Roman and an incredibly tired Virgil that he was on his fifth soulmate cycle, the same amount Roman and Virgil had had so far...
