Nighttime Stroll

@probablyvampirerpgideas I started writing some short stories based on my old idea. I hope you like it ^^

Eldrin had been wandering the city for a few hours, not looking for anything in particular, simply enjoying the night air. Just as she was headed to the subway, she heard a scuffle in the alley to her right. Quickly palming the knife she keeps hidden in her sleeve lining, she turned into the tight space and saw a woman, obviously intoxicated by the way she was swaying, fighting off a man. Perhaps he had been her date, or maybe he was a stranger looking to take advantage of a woman who could barely stand, let alone fight back. Approaching as silent as a cat, Eldrin came up behind the man, who towered above both her and the woman he was harassing, and tapped his shoulder.

“Wha the f-” he jumped in surprise.

“Excuse me,” she said, looking up at him in the pale light of the nearby street lamps, “but I think you’d better back off.”

“Yeah? An’ who da fuck are you to tell me what ta do?”

“God why are humans always so set on doing things the hard way?”

The fight was not a problem for her, with lightning quick reflexes and knife in hand, she slashed the man’s cheek and pushed him to the side, leaving him scrambling in a pile of trash. Before he could regain his footing, Eldrin had already escorted the woman out of the alleyway and was hailing a cab for her.

As she watched the woman leave she realized the sky was turning a light pink and she was going to have to hurry if she wanted to make it home before sunrise. Speeding to the nearest subway entrance, she entered into the tunnel that would lead her home. Looking around to make sure no one was watching, she slipped into a supply closet, and whispered a word in a long dead language. As her catlike eyes adjusted to the dark, a pathway opened up leading deep below the subway station.

As she entered into the large cavern that was the main area of their home, her companion, Leyla, ran up to her.

“Do you know how late it is? I thought you were going to get stuck out there! You really need to pay closer attention to the time!” She pestered while still going to embrace Eldrin in a warm hug.

“Sorry, sorry, I had to help a woman get home safe.” Eldrin replied as she pulled away from Leyla’s hug. “Come on let’s get to bed, you’ve probably been up for a while waiting for me, huh?” and she pulled her into their quarters.

They fell asleep, arms intertwined, under a pile of blankets to keep them warm, and as the sun rose over New York, Eldrin was safe in the protection of their hideaway, and her best friend’s embrace.

rose: Make a vampire character who’s lived through several waves of the common language’s development and can’t let go of certain grammatical habits from different time eras.

rose: So, like, “Thou ist a horrid creature, an absolute cur, but go off I guess.”

roxy: ... can i use that phrase irl?

rose: Absolutely you can, and I encourage more uses of similar phrases that just completely fuck up the chronology of the English language. I want to hear 15th century English mixed with surfer speak mixed with current age internet lingo, like, all the time.

aradia: like this? “well my dude, seems like a weasel hath n0t such a deal 0f spleen as y0ure t0ssd with. chill already y0ure n0t valid”

Please, sir, may I have some ideas?

I'm working on a magic item which belongs to a (usually benign) trickster god. Basic principle, roll the die, then either reap the rewards or wither the consequences, as appropriate. The snag: need ideas for results. A lot of them. The current result table has 128 slots, of which I've filled... like five.

So! I'm calling for ideas! Anything from the mildly amusing or inconvenient to the wildly wacky to the scarily serious. From an instant oasis in a snowglobe to a hoard of treasure stolen from a dragon to a pet pirate parakeet to a dancing clown to being lit on fire, all ideas are welcome.

So everyone is putting together an end of the year post, in the spirit of my original name, I will blatantly plagiarize the idea. Here were my top posts for the last 4 months year:

Little background on this post, I wasn’t super happy with it, but my tune changed quickly when @pwbi​ shared it and it blew up. It made me more confident in my posting and is one of the only reasons I’m still around. 

This post as well is one I owe a thanks to @probablyvampirerpgideas​.  Another post that I wasn’t super proud of that really blew up. I’m so happy you all liked it and it was around Halloween too so it really inspired me to post more Vampire related posts.

It means the world you all liked this. I’ve been on a character making kick and sharing my concepts for you all has been a lot of fun. I haven’t developed this character further, but it would be funny if they were a goblin, Kobold, or Furbolg. I haven’t decided. More to come.

I’m floored that you all like this post so much. I’m going to be honest with you all. I haven’t played Werewolf... and I haven’t watched Captain Planet. I KNOW! I know! Still your love for this post is heartwarming. 

So what have I learned? I should have more faith in my posts and that I have the support of some of the coolest people on the internet. I look forward to 2020 and the new posts and friends I’ll make. I hope you all continue to enjoy all of my new character ideas, new stories, new craziness, and, of course, plenty of probably copyrighted RPG ideas!

I’m now picturing some kind of scenario where vampires are like that too.  Just spinning it around in my head, I’m seeing the mortals somehow figure things out and decide to eradicate vampires, only to find out that the vampire ‘hunger’ that seems to target certain individuals (singers/matebonds/bloodlust/whatever), is actually acting on a latent virus that causes zombies, and vampire saliva/venom/blood is an antibody of sorts against it.  So now with no vampires around, a zombie outbreak happens. ((tagging @probablyvampirerpgideas ))

Trees, like animals, can also experience albinism, though it is extremely rare.

May I be so bold as to suggest 2 ideas? 1) a bat that can talk appears and is neither hostile or friendly, infact they're pretty snarky and a little bit rude. 2) A vile of blood, about the size of a lesser healing potion, and for some reason it's corked incredibley tight and has a slight metalic shimmer to it.
