enough time has probably passed that i can now safely subtumble a post i saw on my dash several months ago.

it was a long and very heartfelt meta about how 'look how mobius is supporting loki in this scene, that is true love' which okay but for some reason the scene OP had chosen to demonstrate mobius's wholesome and entirely unproblematic love for loki was... the bit where he puts loki into a time-loop torture cell where he will be repeatedly beaten and insulted by sif. which seemed like an odd choice to me, because while i myself am all in favour of Dark Lokius (it deserves capitalisation) this person did not seem to be, nor the many people who had reblogged it adding breathelessly joyful tags about how otp this behaviour was and how adorable they are.

and for about two seconds i did actually consider if the OP was a remarkably good attempt at trolling, ha ha you almost got me there, but no it was not. so i remain confused to this day. why. why would that be your choice of wholesome scene? the one with a literal torture chamber in it. why not one of the nicer ones where torture or death is only a vague threat hanging over the press-ganged variant that there were plenty of?

this one isn't even about my own preferences for or takes on lokius, it's just surely an objectively strange/bad choice of evidence for wholesome loving care?

bakugo & kaiser — as much of a disaster as it sounds to have these two together… i think they might actually pick each other. neither of them WANTS to pick ANYBODY ofc but given that they have to, i think they'd both want to go with someone they know will help them win. as ridiculous as they believe the whole thing is, they still don't wanna lose LOL and who better to go with than the other insanely competitive blond guy?? they'll get along just long enough to make it work

oikawa & jean — oikawa also wants to win and lowkey so does jean so i think they'd try to team up. they have serious beef with team bakukaiser and want to crush them by any means necessary so they'll try to stop bitching at each other and work together

sunday & wriothesley — i feel like sunday would approach wriothesley tbh. wrio is a sensible guy but also really physically capable so while sunday will act graciously no matter where he ends up, he still has preferences. i think there's also a tiny bit of a secret competitive streak within him that wants to win so having wriothesley as a teammate would give him an edge while also sparing his sanity from dealing with someone like gojo or bakugo.

gojo & yuuta — speaking of gojo, there are a few who are immediately thinking "i want gojo" when told to pair up LMFAO but when i announce the "no powers" rules they're a little less enthusiastic sodifjioafj he's still a really good competitor but is a fucking doofus. and i think he would want to pair up with yuuta for funsies

sakura & toji — so sakura's first choice would probably be umemiya ofc but tbh i'm having this vision of him being poached by toji for some reason. toji thinks he's a strong little dude and while toji himself he doesn't necessarily need help from anybody, he decides it can't hurt to have the extra boost. and lowkey i think sakura probably reminds toji of himself a little bit in some ways so there's like a subconscious bias lmao

denki & ryusui — these two are exploding with enthusiasm over this whole thing. they're getting hyped up and convincing themselves that they're gonna win and are definitely going to have fun regardless

belphie & tanjiro — belphie is not overly excited about this activity and is sort of quietly hoping that he'll be able to get out of it somehow but then tanjiro approaches like "belphie! would you like to be my partner?" because he sees him all alone and belphie can't so no because tanjiro is so nice oaifjidsofj he's also strong af which will balance out belphie's lazy ass (tho tanjiro's encouragement actually convinces belphie to put in effort)

megumi & vash — this duo is entertaining yet somewhat cute in my mind. megumi's another one who's not really actively trying to seek out anyone in particular and vash is happy to just sort of go wherever, so they end up as a team when vash asks. they aren't half bad either once they get coordinated.

suga & umemiya — and last but not least: the Fathers. they're both just happy to be here and are waiting to see who might need a partner at the end. they're used to kinda being the mediators and dealing with the more… problematic individuals, but are pleased to see that everyone else has managed to pair up already, so THEY get to team up in the end!! it's a refreshing change of pace for them to not have to wrangle brats for once but they're still keeping an eye out from a distance

and the winners???? lowkey my heart kinda wants to say sakura and toji for some reason. i feel like they sorta need it LOL like it would be a little healing for them, especially as individuals who are used to fighting tooth and nail for everything, particularly against others who have more power/privilege. i think they managed to strategize and coordinate well for this one.

genuinely don't understand why people think damien seems more eager to be friends w angela and she seems completely uninterested in being friends with him? i'd say damangela is probably pretty low on my list of favorite smosh duos, but i think they seem to like each others' presence equally? maybe i am too autistic to see angela as anything but super friendly and willing to befriend everybody, damien included! damien's just been super busy but i remember late 2021- 2023- during BAF Legacy era, angela, shayne, damien, chanse and amanda were shaping up to be The Team™️- at least to me- and damien's only been excluded from these conversations since the falling apart of Sword AF and damien's VO work has made him step away from smosh more.

i truly don't get the amount of scrutiny damangela gets because trevrasha has just as much "coworkers standing next to each other" energy as damangela but some people act like trevor and arasha could be in love. genuinely so baffled. like, yeah, both pairs seem to like each other well enough and get along and i can see the appeal of it but as an audience member, i prefer them with other people. if anything, i actually prefer watching the angela-trevor/ damien-arasha dynamic more than trevrasha and damangela, but making up fanfiction that damien is creepy and eager to pander to damangela shippers while angela secretly hates him is so odd ESPECIALLY because angela seems like a sincerely accomodating, open and friendly person to everybody she encounters? and wasn't damien the one who actively shut down angela saying she knew his sex catch phrase and called her "bud" and "pal"?? and damien always tries to make jokes with people that don't always land and are awkward, not just with angela but with literally everyone excluding shayne. maybe i'm not seeing what everyone else is seeing but? genuinely so confused? i'm not trying to excuse any of damien's previous problematic behavior, or angela's if there is anything- but they seem to get along and like each other, on an on-screen chemistry level? to me, it feels like a subconscious bias against damien because he has autism but i could just be being totally unfair to people who think differently, i'd be open to hearing people's opinions on this!

sorry for being so rambly i've been stewing on this for a couple months.

There are multiple hours of compilations of them being kind and friendly towards each other, so at this point it boils down to petty fandom drama, I think. It's the "my fave would NEVER like your fave." Its childish bs and I've watched it happen across every fandom I've ever been in.

Certain groups of Angela stans mock damangela relentlessly and they deeply dislike Damien. They're largely on Twitter but it leaks over here occasionally. I find it's best to block liberally if any of them, or anyone in general, makes you uncomfortable with the way they talk about it.

As a fellow autistic person, I also dislike the amount of 'evidence' that gets presented to show that he's annoying Angela is just ableism and nitpicking autistic behaviors.

Damien gets a lot of unwarranted shit and basically anyone who gets shipped with him gets subjected to it in their own manner.

The Collector from The Owl House! The character design is right up my alley as a space-obsessed man-child, their attitude, flaws, and the complex feelings he experiences throughout the show are really interesting, also their changes to the world may have been horrific, but the aesthetic? To die for.

Dale 'Coop' Copper from Twin Peaks, more the original run than the 2017 series version of Coop, he's just neat, I like him, I love how much he loves people, and how people just seem to be drawn to love him. great character.

Right beside Coop is an old friend Denise Bryson, probably one of the (wildly) more controversial characters of Twin Peaks, but she holds a special place in my heart being a character who is treated equally by our main character and audience surrogate. Plus she's so damn smart, funny, and pretty.

Dr. Ariel Celandine is the best part of Neopets mobile game Tales of Darcadia. Sweet, ditzy, yet incredibly intelligent? and I'm a sucker for an anthro bug, they look cool af.

Drifloon, One of my favourite pokemon, scary and cute all together.

Ekko from Arcane is the most recent addition to my endless list of fave characters, Ekko is probably the BEST part of Arcane IMO, and helps work to cover some of the weaker parts of the series. He's just a great man, doing everything he can to create a safe and healthy community for the people he cares for, and the nature he nurtures. I would die for him.

Frankie Stien, specifically g3 but straight up I love every gen of Frankie, this one just has a special place in my heart for being an enby, and in a very cute relationship with Cleo.

Glad0s! I think she's the most visually iconic characters of this set, shes just so damn cool, her voice acting is fantastic, back story is engaging and exciting, and she gets way too many good lines. she's the GOAT.

Grace Monroe from Infinity Train is one of my favourite problematic fave, partly because shes a literal child and has more reason than any adult to be as problematic as she is, never mind her familial back story explaining why her judgement isn't the best, even for a teen. She's wicked and I wish we got to see more of her, and infinity train as a whole.

That’s such a good question. I can honestly tell you that as someone who was an “outsider” looking in for a long time, here are my thoughts:

1) A lot of his “fans” actually hate him because they can’t possess or control him. Their need to write fanfiction about his personal life and force her into every aspect of his being is literally just them trying to exercise some control over his life. It brings them peace to see him visibly miserable with a woman because they don’t feel like they’re missing out on anything.

2) The shippers and other fans who feel obligated to like her subscribe to what I like to call, “uwu rule following culture.” A stupid, clunky name for a stupid, clunky way of thinking lol. It’s basically the idea that everyone in the world needs to act one way in order to be considered “good” or “worthy.” It happens amongst people who are deeply entrenched in fandom culture, I find. These are the people who think that liking the “age appropriate” (read: boring and unattractive) gf will get them brownie points with their fave. These are the people who would clutch their pearls over him seeing a woman in her twenties who has everything in common with him, but jump for joy when he’s with a woman who’s only 2 years younger and is the total opposite of all he’s claimed to stand for. These are the people who compare her to Ale and can only argue that she’s “not problematic” when she’s just as bad, if not worse. FFS, she USES tragedy to further her brand. That’s sick. They make no sense, but they want a gold star for running around the internet yelling at people on his and her behalf, as if they know them personally and have anymore of an insight on their lives than we do.

3) this is a *spicy* take, and it’s also where things get complicated. Bear with me lol:

There are psychos and idiots on BOTH sides of the PR/real argument. There are absolutely the fans who will hate any woman he breathes next to. There are fans who don’t hate Annabelle because she’s actually a jerk, but because she is currently being referred to as his gf. Period. They’re thrilled that there are valid reasons not to like her, but they’re messy af and make the rest of Team PR look tactless and stupid. These ain’t my people because I know that they’ll hate the next girl, too.

On the other hand, I’m going to refer back up to #2 and touch on my UWU Rule Following Culture point: There are people who only like her and refuse to dislike her or subscribe to the PR POV because they’re *not like other fans.* They just want so badly to be the chosen ones to follow Sebastian around with their hands cupped under his ass, not realizing that going along with shit like sheep could potentially be more harmful toward him and not at all what he wants. In short: they will like every rs he’s in, real or not, because they think it makes them better fans. It’s a purity contest.

NOW, here’s where it gets complicated: A lot of the people who typically hate his gfs because they’re his gfs are defending AW like their lives depend on it. Not because they like her or think she’s worthy, but because this is the first gf of Sebastian’s that he has no obvious affection toward or attraction to. And it’s a relief to them. A lot of these people are the same folks who would’ve harmed Margarita with their bare hands because he was obsessed with her. They like that AW is a self-insert. They like that they’re spared the pain of watching him love on a woman. I’d even venture to say that they like that he looks miserable next to her. Because deep down, in their delusion, they like that they can look at that and convince themselves, “I would make him happier.” They drone on about how all of us are sooooo awful and ugly and are just mad that Seb won’t fuck us, but they’re just projecting. Believe me when I say that they will hate the next girl he’s actually crazy about, especially if shes young, talented, and beautiful. And so, some of them will stick by AW because AW will inevitably hate and stalk this woman until every single stringy hair is pulled from her own head.

The obedient UWU rule followers will simply migrate their loyalty over to the next gf. They may be of use in that case if the next girl is lovely and the situation is the total opposite of what the AW situation has been.

Also worth noting that a lot of Seb’s fans hate men and like Sebastian because he’s shown to be a more sympathetic figure toward women (make no mistake: I ADORE that he’s a gentle soul who respects women). It’s kind of like how racist people are just in love with POC who say what they want to hear. They like that, in their minds, he’s submissive and easy to control. Realistically, they are about 2 seconds away from hating him at all times. They are just waiting for him to fail so they can say how he’s awful and just like every other man. A lot of these people ALSO love Annabelle because they don’t think a man should be with a woman he’s crazy about. It’s weird as fucking hell. These are the people who have the nerve to say, “he’s more problematic than she is.” You best believe some of these fuckers will jump ship when they split, and the normal Seb fans will be relieved. Go ride Annabelle’s narcissistic ass into the sunset. Don’t let the door hit you in your way out!

Aaaaand…I think that concludes my novel 😂 some will stay, some will go, some will stay and still ship him with a woman he was never actually in love with long after he’s found someone else. Sebastian said it himself: his fans are a trip!

There's a lot of fandoms I don't leave – World of Darkness and Warhammer 40k predominantly as settings I always have another angle I want to see explored in!

I do however have the Magic the Gathering bug, even though I haven't really played in years and years now – but card interaction as a generation for narrative has always kind of captivated me? Like there's a couple big mean Ogre cards that make Rats more dangerous, but due to the way the systems work they also empower the Ratfolk of Kamigawa, the Nezumi, as they count as 'Rat' cards still. So big Ogre spellcasters improving Rat people as part of a contained bit of narrative kind of fascinates me as a concept.

Plus each deck presupposes a Planeswalker character who's casting those spells – and I was always intrigued by that notion and so most of my OCs are representative of decks I played (or wanted to :P) and then in turn each Planeswalker needs a Plane to come from, probably from a still existing culture on that Plane too, and so it can kind of wonderfully reverberate inspiration.

Like how every VTM Kindred OC presupposes a Sire!

Setting agnostic as hell, excluding some implicit need for magic in the class moves – I'm prepping to playtest this in sci-fi and fantasy settings to see how well my mechanics hold up in both swords and firearms based stories. Plus I'm going to explore a variety of perspectives of what the faction can be – from ethnic groups, to gangs, to guilds, to neighbourhoods.

Kpop opinion from a former stan that no one asked for

Kpop used to take western samples and then modify it since a long time ago but now its just the western samples sung partly in Korean and mostly in English, they don't even put the effort for putting in sounds and instruments to make it sound more like Korean pop.

I have argued with second and third gen stans against this in almost every comment section, but for 4th and 5th gen stans I do have to say that a lot of your faves can't sing live and dance simultaneously and NO its not okay, its the basic requirement to be an idol. Otherwise, you're just a backup dancer and not idol.

Echoing the first opinion, the only 4th gen boygroup that actually has been consistent in delivering a beautiful discography has been TXT. For others, I can mute the sound and just watch them dance and it won't make much difference.

If intense choreos are the issue, then they could just tone down a bit with the choreos and then make their artists perform LIVE. Older groups like Mamamoo, BTOB, and Winner-YG groups in general focus more on performing LIVE and vibe with the audiences and tbh that looks a lot better than groups just grinding that intense choreo and losing breath.

Le Sserafim have a really enjoyable discography but when it comes to live performance artists, Source Music has downgraded a lot considering they started with GFriend.

Since I brought up Source Music, I'd say HYBE should have delayed girlgroup debuts by a couple of years coz these girlies still need training on live performances. The boygroups tho *chefs kiss*

Girlgroup discographies have saved the 4th generation of Kpop. Hoping for boygroup discographies to have the same upgrade. TWS discography gives me hope even though they just debuted.

Groups like NMIXX, ITZY and G-Idle don't fall into the categories I mentioned above. Those babes can blast their mics with vocals AND shake that leg simultaneously.

The obsession with noise music needs to go. Not everyone can do it properly. Plus we don't need to hear the same kind of bass boosted music for every other Kpop group. Bring the diversity back.

The only company that kinda knows what they are doing with the noise music genre is SM Entertainment.Even though NCT songs are either hit or miss, atleast I can tell they aren't lazy about it and are methodically experimenting with the sound. SM might be shitty about a lot of things but they're serious when it comes to music.

Coming to SME, the management has messed up with things a lot of times and idk what changed but they've taken a few good decisions so far- like, Lucas solo debut, putting Sungtaro into RIIZE where they can individually grow as artists rather than being extensions of NCT,throwing away the idea of NCT Hollywood, debuting an entire unit of NCT instead of 1 or 2 members and doing it through a survival show for more exposure of the members, putting a stop to the avengers group concept etc. Now only if they could bring Seunghan back to RIIZE.

'Self-producing' worked for Seventeen coz their producer is Woozi. A lot of kpop groups are better off having actual composers and producers preparing songs for them.

The way most of the netizens have labeled New Jeans as a 'problematic' group just because these teenage girls have voiced their support for an adult they know (even though she is shady af 💀) over an entire bunch of adults and employees that make them feel uncomfortable and don't even try to hide their discrimination against these young girls is baffling to me. Yall expect these girlies who aren't even adults themselves to take a correct political stance when yall like to act like these girls aren't the biggest victims of the Hybe versus ADOR situation is so hypocritical and peak clownery 🤡.

TVA - fave TVC character (IMO Armand is THE most sympathetic character in the books, and Claudia's THE most tragic); beautifully written, interesting time period, found family dynamics, religious trauma, I love it all

Blood Communion - the series finale! bittersweet, but it had a very Disneyfied happily ever after, that at least lets all the fan faves get what they want out of immortality; no muss no fuss

Blackwood Farm - funniest/craziest TVC book IMO. Random AF and I liked the Mayfair crossovers, although I'm pissed about Merrick. My least problematic version of Lestat, just chilling with Quinn and being a diva.

Prince Lestat - the payoff I wanted after QotD; as THE plot advanced. Very action-packed & mysterious goings-on

QotD - The Twins are goated, esp. Mekare. I dislike Lestat in this book, but his dynamic with Akasha is horrifyingly fascinating

Hated books (Top 3):

Merrick: Other than Claudia's seance & Merrick's history of the Black Mayfairs, I hated this book. Louis was #Depressed. David is a effing degenerate (derogatory). I DO NOT care what that colonizing culturally appropriating closeted racist fetishizing pedophile has to say. And Aaron disappointed me, too--I really liked him in the Witching Hour.

Blood Canticle: WTF. Like...WHY?

TotBT: I hate everything about this book. Lestat was the stupidest he's ever been, to trust a single word coming out of Raglan James' mouth. I hated the way he treated Louis (who was right all along, as usual); I hate how sloppy & messy the chase is; and I hate David (though I do feel bad for what Les did to him, that was effed up)

Most excited to see from AMC:

Mekare vs Akasha (hopefully we see Enkil in action, too)

I'd like AMC to make Rhoshamandes actually fight Louis & Gabrielle; they were already sitting ducks in QotD, and I'd like for them to have a chance to at least TRY to defend themselves, like Marius was able to do (his fight was so cool)

Louis needs more friends other than Daniel; and DEFINITELY some platonic Bipoc friends. Khayman, Seth, Nebamun, SOMEONE; who's refined and old and smart and bookish and kind that Louis can chill with. I know AR said David is Louis' best man at Loustat's wedding, but I effing hate that. That's my anti-headcanon; I rebuke it in the name of the lord. Let Louis & Gabrielle be BFFs ganging up on Lestat or something, IDFK, but please god not David.
