thats not a “zine” that is an “art book” and you are scaring the hoes (discouraging people from zinemaking by associating it with hefty sleek professionalism instead of extremely diy no resources low cost artistic communication) by mixing up these words

Do you have tutorials for drawing hands? I'm impressed (and envious) with how you drew them.
don't treat this as a Tutorial cause i have no idea what i am doing generally speaking but . references? :") you probably noticed how all my hands look equally bony, that is because i look at my own bony hands and use them as references!

oh and don't forget that you don't have to keep palms flat all the time, you can bend the shape ! and don't forget that palms are soft and squishy, they make folds when you make a fist for example.

Thinking about how being fat means you're denied a very large portion of what's considered a normal (and healthy) part of the human experience.

what do you think about dan mora's art?
For the most part I really like Dan Moras art especially the shading he does I've done art studies before of his work just bc I wanted to shade like he does that said there is some things about Moras art that just aren't for me like the way he kinda has one body shape that he likes to draw for all the superheroes in the same vain with faces there's a certain face he falls back on with men and woman and in particular the woman face just doesn't really vibe well with certain characters imo

vintage nudes are so interesting because they preserve body types that used to be really common but dont seem to be around much anymore. i think of this bodytype as the one most common in 1960s-70s fantasy book covers and pulp novels. barbarella has this kind of torso, for example. but you rarely see it show up past the 1990s. i dont see it IRL much either. part of it i think is that the image of "sexy girl" like you see on pulp novel covers and in ads etc has gotten progressively younger since the american midcentury. this is more of a grownup bodytype, this is a more usual shape for skinny women in their 30s and 40s with muscle maturity and a few more years of hormone-mediated development and possibly a pregnancy or two. i think differences in posture (particularly the practice of sucking in the abdominal muscles in a really conspicuous way, which was the norm from about 1940 to 1970 for both men and women), the culture around correcting posture virtually disappearing in the 80s, and differences in daily activities activating different muscle groups, as well as difference in where we are putting shaping pressure on our soft tissues with different clothing and materials, has contributed to these changes. i would love to write a paper about this. i've gotten so intense about this topic i can date nudes to roughly their correct decades just based on the model's body shape.

HII, I'M SORRY I REALLY LIKE YOUR ART AND I WANTED TO KNOW HOW MUCH TIME IT TOOK TO FINALLY HAVE THE RESULTS OF BEAST/15 STYLE (i forgot the name of the creator) AND SOME TIPS :33
Helloooo thank youuuu 🥹🫶🫶🫶
I've been drawing for most of my life but I've only been taking it seriously since five years now, but truthfully I only studied beast/15 manga style aka hoshikawa's art for maybe around 2 years,
Here's my first ever attempt at drawing like hoshikawa's style back in 2022!!
Tumblr media
I admit I don't know how to give good tips because when I began drawing I immediately decided to draw daily (at least fill out two pages) until I don't feel like it anymore, my first goal was a week but then when I finished it I didn't want to break my streak so I continued, I reached two weeks, then a month, then suddenly i drew every day for a whole year (my lazy ass was flabbergasted) and not all people can or have the time to do that I've heard,
If there's any tips I'm confident with is that the internet is full of free resources you can and SHOULD take advantage! Youtube taught me everything I know tbh it saved my life, I was just mindlessly copying before I began truly learning stuff,
In the end once you break it down hoshikawa's art is basically just stylized anatomy and skills and confidence that was built up from years of practicing and consistency, I personally only know basic anatomy rn and most times I still struggle alot tbh😭 so remember to take it easy and most importantly have fun!!🫶🫶
(Side note: study from every professional artist you can find there's always something you can learn from them, don't just stick to copying from one artist pls pls pls don't do my mistakes)

ah. something i find a little funny is seeing people describe the way he speaks as "distant" or "detached", or even outright "cold"
i think it is very safe to say he adresses us in a way that is very personal. heartwarming, even. like someone who is excited to see us and show his work with every release (and has explicitly used the word for it).
idk you guys if you're too weirded out by him that's alright — in fact, the way he has this effect on people solidifies an uncaniness that is very important to his character — but there is no way you can look me in the eye and tell me that "SO TO BE HERE FINALLY ON THE VERGE OF CONNECTION IS QUITE EXCITING." or "I LOOK FORWARD TO CREATING A NEW FUTURE WITH YOU." or "SHALL WE? SHALL WE GO AGAIN?" is expressing nothing but professionalism🚶
