Victims of trauma-based mind control also usually experience intense or odd reactions to benign stimuli that were used in their programming. For example, they may have been programmed to remember to forget every time they see an apple, or to remember they are being watched every time they hear a police or fire siren. Similarly, they may make repetitive, robotic statements that do not make sense in the context of dialogue, e.g., "I want to go home", a common programmed statement intended to keep them obedient to the abuser group and reporting to their abusers. Specific songs may be compulsively sung for similar programmed purposes.

Ty Lee | all-american bitch
I know my place and this is it
[video description: an amv centered on Ty Lee set to “all-american bitch” by Olivia Rodrigo. The video focuses on Ty Lee's dynamic with Azula throughout the years, and juxtaposes Ty Lee's bubbly flirty persona with her extremely efficient chi-blocking fighting style and shrewd observations. end description.]
cw for flashing. extended video description under the cut
First verse contrasts scenes of Ty Lee, Azula, and Mai as children with scenes of Azula threatening Ty Lee in Return to Omashu, and from then on being a weapon for Azula in her mission. Scenes mainly pull from the trio’s early book 2 action as they chase Aang.
First chorus: on “Forgive and I forget”: Ty Lee mid-air doing a flip cuts to young Ty Lee landing a flip. young Azula pushes young Ty Lee to the ground and laughs. Ty Lee chi-blocks a kyoshi warrior on "And I act like it. She flirts with Sokka on “Got what you can’t resist” and chi-blocks Katara on “perfect all-american”
Second verse features mainly scenes from the end of book 2 when Ty Lee, Azula, and Mai are in Ba Sing Se disguised as Kyoshi warriors. Many of the scenes show Ty Lee being undignified, contrasting with the lyrics (but fitting the ironic tone of the song). These scenes include Ty Lee jumping into the sludge during The Drill, her covered in mud, and flying through the air with Mai after Appa flaps his tail at them.
Second chorus: “Forgive and forget”: Ty Lee after her circus performance agreeing to join Azula. Other clips juxtapose Ty Lee during The Beach with Ty Lee fighting during The Boiling Rock.
“I know my place”: Rapid cuts of Ty Lee and Mai beside Azula, cut to Ty Lee anxiously looking side to side during The Boiling Rock confrontation. On the second “I know my place”: Rapid cuts of Ty Lee hugging Mai, and Mai and Azula preparing to fight.
“And this is it”: Ty Lee chi-blocks Azula.
Bridge: Scenes from the fallout of Ty Lee betraying Azula - Mai and Ty Lee being arrested − cut together with Ty Lee’s emotional outburst during The Beach campfire scenes. During the screaming and fast-paced music, there are rapid cuts of Ty Lee fighting and moments beside Azula, in between cuts shots of Ty Lee crying.
Outro: Ty Lee bowing to Azula during Return to Omashu. Then Ty Lee crying during The Beach party, and Azula apologizing to her.
#it's finally here... my ty lee thesis statement :)#apologies again for bringing usamericans anywhere near atla ...... but . you know. empire for an empire#this is literally the first time i've edited a video on any program at all in over a DECADE#and of course the ideas/moments that inspired me to do this whole thing were the most technically complicated to do lmao#i learned so much for this please clap#finally. shoutout to o who I literally could not have done it without!#and to every atla fanvid I studied... mutuals you are all so skilled! <3#flashing cw#ty lee#amv#r.post

sitting on my hands so hard every time I see a tmagp theory post based on inaccurate information because it's impolite to constantly tell random people on the internet that they're wrong and it is in fact completely normal to not have encyclopedic knowledge about these podcasts and I, magnus trivia marina, am the outlier in this situation
#for my own sanity. a few things:#from a q&a stream we know tim fearon is going to be playing augustus#the magnus institute in this universe was in manchester not london and ran 'educational programs' and burnt down in 1999#sam (and gerry) (and maybe alice) were involved in these educational programs during young childhood#in mag 114 the statement giver had never heard of the magnus institute despite being v familiar with the area of london it was in#tmagp#marina marvels at life

it’s a little eerie how wrapped up sam gets in the statements already. after every statement so far, someone’s had to approach him like “…you okay dude?”

That moment when you have to let people be wrong about you because correcting them would make you seem like an unbearable show-off
I was at a bookstore with a friend the other day and I was looking at a book in German that I was interested in buying, but then I saw that it was a translation and had originally been written in French
I commented idly to my friend "Sometimes I don't buy a book because it's a translation and I always prefer to read in the original language when possible" and she said in an agreeing-with-me way, "Yeah it would make more sense to read it in English"
and I realized she assumed I meant English when I said "original language"
but I couldn't bring myself to say "Yeah, or French or Dutch or Spanish or Italian or Portuguese or one of the other languages I read..." because like. who says that kind of thing.
#it's odd but i've suddenly been noticing a lot of people underestimating me lately#like i told a friend i was studying compsci/programming#and she started sending me like... links to absolute beginner 'how to start learning to code' resources#which of course is very sweet and i really appreciate her supportiveness!#so i certainly don't want to say 'lol i passed that point 10 years ago but thanks'#or my friends know perfectly well that i'm a language professional and have spent time studying many languages#but somehow they don't seem to make the connection that that translates into having actual abilities?#like i can piece together the meaning of a sentence in russian or chinese and they'll go 'wtf' like i'm a wizard or something#or i've mentioned a few times that i read for fun in various languages but that seems to just go in one ear and out the other for most folk#and they still can't conceive that i would read a WHOLE BOOK in a language that's not german or english#these are just two examples but i've seen it happen with several other things too#and i'm just... not sure how normal people handle this sort of thing?#how do you let your friends know what you're capable of without coming across as an arrogant prick#i'm not seeking approbation and so i don't tend to boast#but i think maybe i err too hard in the opposite direction?#maybe i've been accidentally implying all these years that i'm Very Amateur in all my interests/hobbies#i don't know how to strike a reasonable balance#but it does feel kind of. weirdly alienating. to suddenly realize most of my friends really don't Know me in this way#cosmo gyres#personal#tag rant#i guess what annoys me is that i'm very careful not to do this to others#if someone tells me about a certain interest or hobby of theirs i assume by default that they must know So Much about it#and if i dare to send them or suggest them anything i always preface it with 'you probably already know this but...'#or 'this may well be something that's painfully obvious to someone with your expertise but...'#and i would try to never make any statement or suggestion that implies i think they're at a low level in [whatever that thing is]#so it bothers me a bit when other people don't take the same consideration. i guess.#(not enough to do anything about it beyond blogging with mild annoyance. but hey)

#feel very optimistic about my other apps#this is not my top pick program like it would be cool but def not my top picks and i think my personal statement shows that because it was a#little less focused and precise as my other one’s imo

I cannot physically express the fuckery I just had to deal with at work
so instead, let's metaphorically say that I am a mechanic instead, and somebody calls me up and complains that their car always says that they're speeding
so I spend hours trying to help them through this, trying to rule out basic stuff. Except their responses to a lot of my questions and instructions are kinda hard to parse, until finally, they start letting very strange things slip
like when I ask their speed, they say it's "six". when I ask what units that's in, they don't know what a 'unit' is
and after much questioning they're like "oh yeah haha my car didn't come with one of those 'speedometer' thingamajigs" like that's a completely normal thing to say, and it comes out that they are gauging the speed by leaning out the window and eyeballing the tires now and then
but also they aren't sure how the math works, so they approximate the tires as squares.
and to simplify the math more they drop a brick on the accelerator and try not to touch the brake too often
#programming stuff#'we handle our cookies manually because our web app framework doesn't have anything for that' is an unsettling statement to start with#but it definitely shouldn't be followed by questions like#'so how many Cookie headers can we have?'#and 'but it's fine that we're sending expired cookies right? that wouldn't cause the bug we're dealing with now?'#and 'ohhh wait so you mean we shouldn't send all that Max-Age stuff back in our Cookie header?'#and 'to make it easier can you just give us a list of what cookies we should submit to this one endpoint?'

I'm trying out a new writing program bc jotterpad gets sad if there's more than 4k words in a document and also doesn't have free cross platform syncing, and. I keep closing out of the new program, doing something and coming back to keep writing, only to open the old draft of what I'm working on in Jotterpad and Immediately have a panic attack about how much progress didn't get saved (because the progress was in a different program)
#im hesitating to name the new program bc i cant figure out how they're being funded#they have an anti ai statement. but ive not been prompted to pay for anything and i cant find any like. up sells.#idk maybe my ad blocker is just hiding all the ads and they dont have those stupid 'pls turn off ur ad blocker🥺' ui elements#and its Not a small or open source project. theres actual money involved. its a sister site to tunglr and WordPress.#they can have my deranged fanfiction and nothing else until i figure this out#i do like the ui better that jotterpad tho

july internship 1, Java
after getting to know the language itself and giving myself an overall understanding of it, i started with my first task:
Let your program print out every number from 1-100. If the number is dividable by 3, the program has to print "Fizz" instead of the number. If it is dividable by 5, it has to print "Buzz". If both (dividable by 3 & 5) apply, it has to print "FizzBuzz".
(if i explain smth wrong or if you know easier ways to solve that task, please feel free to comment or text me! i'm more than open for help!)
Well that's how i did it:
first off i went and created an integer variable "num" with the value 100
i built a for loop starting from 0 on and told the program to keep going until it went up to 100 ("<=" means i want it to stop at exactly 100, "<" would end at 99)
inside of the for loop i put a few if statements in
the 1st if tests whether the current number is dividable by 3 and 5
here i put "if (i % 5 == 0 && i % 3 == 0)"... why?
-> "i" is the variable for the number that is "being tested" rn. We want to find out whether it is dividable by 5. For that we use "%".
This means, let's say i=2. How often does 2 fit into 5? 2 times. This results to 4 (2+2=4, another 2 won't fit into 5). now 5-4=1 soooo 2 % 5 == 1. 1 is the rest.
So , back to my code: to find out if "i" is dividable by 5, i%5 has to be equal to 0. If i%5 has any rest, it means that it is not dividable by 5. Same with 3 ofc.
The && here just means "and".
so.. long story short: IF "i" is dividable by 5 AND 3 print "FizzBuzz" (instead of "i") and go on to the next number. if it is not, go into the next if statement
the next "else if" statements say: if it is not dividable by 5 AND 3, is it dividable by 3/ 5 only? IF yes, print "Fizz"/ "Buzz" and keep going with the next number, else: go into else statement
the last else statement says: if you didnt apply to the first few if statements, just print "i"
.. well and that's about it:) programming this one was really fun and i enjoyed sound it so much ahh🩷🩷🖤
