Essence is a Ph.D. candidate, independent curator, writer, and artist. Her visual work has appeared at Good Children Gallery, Black Portraitures III, SOMarts, and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA). Her writing has appeared in Performa Magazine, SFAQ: International Arts and Culture, Everyday Feminism, Palmss Magazine, and Acres. She currently resides in Los Angeles, CA.
Essence graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in History from UC Berkeley in 2011. She received her Master of Arts from the department of African American Studies at UC Berkeley in 2013 and is currently a Ph.D Candidate in African Diaspora Studies at UC Berkeley. It has been two and a half hours since you arrived at the event.
For some reason, the promotors really wanted you to come so they went out of their way of booking you a flight from your city to Sacramento and booking you a very suite at the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel. They had even offered to hire you a private driver but even, a woman who often didn’t say no to free things, declined the offer.
Instead, you had messaged some of your friends who were in the local area who had informed you that they were attending the event so you joined them. The event was a pretty successful one for the community. Celebrities and influencers alike would come from near and far to attend because of the safe environment it had cultured due to their strict rules. The event was a space for lovers and to find lovers, consent was heavily promoted and had security constantly surveying the space and the biggest thing you loved when the flyer was sent to you was the insistence to use your phone less and just be present in the moment.
The event, SweetOne, was working to bring back the clubbing culture of the old days with their own modern twist to it. An event where egos were left at the door and people met each other on a human level to connect. You were enticed by that (the $13,000 check for your promotion to your 8.9 million audience and appearance for the night was also a little push.)
So here you were, engrossed within the atmosphere as your body swayed to Body Party by Ciara as your friends cheered you on. The liquor had sunk deep into your veins and you were really letting loose for the first time in a long time. Your sultry black and gold mini halter dress sat on your curves, adding onto the sensuality of your impromptu performance. The bangs of your curled silk press fell over your eyes like a curtain as you sang along to the erotic lyrics.
“Woooo! You go girl!” Your friend, Nikki cheered you on as she recorded you. You turned around and held onto the bars that had been a supporting act to your dance. With your hands on either side of you, your hips swayed side to side.
“My body is calling you.” You sang as your eyes opened and by chance, met the ones that had been tracking your movements all night. Behind the brim of his cup, he was intently watching you with a dark glint in his eyes that amused you.
Your glossed lips curled into a smirk as you turned away from the handsome man and then you brought your performance to a close with your friends shouting for an encore.
“Next performance comes with a charge.” You winked at them as you stepped away from the edge of the section.
When you sat down, you couldn’t shake the vision of him watching you. He was a sight, himself. Chocolate brown skin with dark freckles scattered across his cheeks, a neatly trimmed anchor style beard sitting on the sharpest jawline you’d ever seen with your own eyes. It was too dim to see his haircut but you knew that his hair was short. You were also digging the way that was dressed. The light grey sweater snuggly fit around his long torso, highlighting his muscles.
The thing that captured your attention the most were his naturally pink tainted lips, that he seemed to lick very often. God, you were smitten and you had not shared one word with the man.
“Excuse me?” Your attention was called out of your thoughts and you snapped up to meet the eye contact of a server.
“Yes?” You enquired.
“The gentleman from across the room bought you this drink as a thank you for the performance.” The server said. Your cheeks warmly flushed before you scanned the room and met his eyes yet again. He slightly nodded his head and gave you a slight wink. You turned back to the server with a smile.
“Can you go back to the gentleman and tell him I’ll humbly accept his thanks if he brings the drink himself.”
The server smiled, nodded and then left. You eyeballed them as they walked across the room and back to him. They spoke, he bent down to get closer to hear the server speak. He was tall … even more interesting.
Then, he took the drink from the tray and began walking towards where you were. You took a deep breath as his height became more apparent.
“Hi.” The richness of his deep voice vibrated through you and settled in the pit of your stomach. You were fucked - you were a sucker for a good voice.
“Hi.” You breathlessly smiled up at him as you crossed your legs, putting your carved legs on display to his ravenous eyes.
“You said you wouldn’t accept this drink unless I brought it myself.”
“Mhm.” You nodded your head as you held eye contact, hoping to not let your attraction seep into your actions. “We’ve been tip-toeing around each other for most of the night. Someone had to make a move.”
He grinned and his white teeth shone at you. “I’m a little disheartened that it had to be you to make a move but I like your boldness. I like it a lot.”
“So, sit with me then.” You scooted a bit to the side, opening a space beside yourself. He placed the drink on the table in front of you and then sat down. That’s when you truly took in the beauty of this man. From his full yet neat eyebrows, his tapered sides and most importantly, just how pink his lips were up close.
“That was quite the performance you put.” He commented. And despite the shyness threatening to grip your senses, you rolled your eyes - downplaying the intention of your actions.
“It was nothing. I was just feeling the music that’s all.” You shrugged your shoulders as you reached for the drink he had purchased for you - a French 75.
“Your sentence seems to imply that you could do more than what you gave right now.” His eyebrow inquisitively raised up.
“Well, we’d need to at least be exclusive for that kind of performance.” You boldly stated as your body turned with your legs leaning towards his body. He let out a one syllable laugh as his head fell backwards. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed. The length of his neck would be perfect beneath your fingers …
“So how do we get to that stage then?” He brought his head forward and turned to face you.
“Well, you can start by telling me your name.” He brought his hand forward, outreached for you to shake.
“Hi, I’m Keith. Nice to meet you.” You took his hand into yours and you couldn’t help but notice the difference and a shiver ran down your spine.
“Nice to meet you Keith. I’m YN.” You replied as you gazed upon his face. As he met your stare, the dark glint of desire was back with a touch of promise for more in them …
And your body and mind would be readily accepting of that.

October 29, 1923: The first radio broadcast in Germany goes on air
Radio had a rough start in Germany. At the end of World War I, where the German army was among the pioneers in radio communication, during the November Revolution, revolutionary workers occupied the headquarters of the German press and news service, falsely claiming the victory of the communist and socialist revolutionary forces. This made the social democratic government to impose harsh restrictions on radio broadcast, which severely hampered the development of the new medium in Germany:
Only the state had the sovereign right of to set up and operate transmitting and receiving systems
Private individuals were prohibited to receive any radio broadcast
Receivers were limited in their technical characteristics, supported by a requirement for state approval for any new model
This led to the state-controlled postal service becoming a monopolist serving a small number of (mostly public) institutions. Nonetheless, the first entertainment broadcast was distributed at Christmas 1920, when postal employees brought instruments to the broadcast center in Königs Wusterhausen (south of Berlin), played music and recited poems.
After heavy lobbying by radio pioneers such as Hans Bredow, complaints and public discontent and increasing numbers of illegal self-made private receivers, which frequently caused interferences, the harsh restrictions were finally lifted in 1923. Each owner of a state-approved receiver had to register as a "radio participant" and pay a license fee. In autumn of 1923, at the height of the inflation, a license cost 780 billion Mark per year, a sum that only very few were able and willing to afford. Thst's why the first broadcast by Funk-Stunde Berlin from a studio in the Vox House on October 29, 1923 has no (paying) listeners. The first registered participant was Berlin tobacco retailer Wilhelm Kollhoff, who received his license and his radio on October 31.
Rapidly, a number of radio stations opened throughout Germany, which were consolidated under the umbrella organization "Reichs-Rundfunk-Gesellschaft".
Infamously, radio became the main propaganda instrument of the Nazis, who quickly forced all radio stations into line, sending the liberal radio pioneers to the first concentration camps. The development and widespread distribution of a cheap radio receiver, the "Volksempfänger" ("people's receiver"), made radio a medium for the masses. Nonetheless, only 46.9 % of the German households had a radio in 1937, compared with the USA or the UK, which had already a density of 78.3 % and 66.1 %, respectively.
After World War II, radio developed differently in East and West Germany. Radio in East Germany remained state-controlled, sending communist propaganda now. In the West, organizations under public law were founded in the federal states, funded by fees of radio users and controlled by bodies in which the relevant societal groups are equally represented. In the 1980s, private radio stations were allowed.
Because Germany received only very few AM frequencies as part of the sactions after World War II, development of FM radio was accelerated, leading to new standards in the quality of transmission and HiFi stereo radio. Radio established itself as a promoter of culture in the area of literature and music. The stations set up symphonic and dance orchestras, big bands, choirs, and elaborate audioplay studios. They were also pioneering promoters of electronic music. In the recent years, however, the importance of radio as promoters of high culture has diminished more and more. With the exceptions of a few stations, radio is regarded as background entertainment for people who cannot stand silence.
In the future, it is expected that the split between music and entertainment, high culture, and information will will deepen. Radio as a promotor of culture will probably not play a role any more. Taking over podcast productions may revive the role of radio as an opinion-forming medium. Radio is still unrivalled as the fastest medium, being able to provide the latest news virtually in real-time.

Movie Review: Revival69: The Concert That Rocked The World / MaXXXine
This week I got to review two new ones: a documentary and a narrative.
Revival69: The Concert That Rocked The World
On September 13, 1969, Canada hosted their big music festival about a month after Woodstock in the U.S. Toronto, Ontario had the Toronto Rock and Roll Revival, at University of Toronto's Varsity Stadium. I didn't know too much about the concert festival itself beyond John Lennon's performance. John and wife Yoko Ono put together the Plastic Ono Band for this festival including guitarist Eric Clapton, bassist Klaus Voorman, and drummer Alan White. That performance was released as a live album in late 1969, Live Peace in Toronto 1969. Beyond D.A. Pennebaker's 1971 documentary Sweet Toronto, the music festival never got the proper historical documentary treatment until now. Revival69: The Concert That Rocked The World began its festival run in 2022 and has been doing indie film screenings in recent weeks as well as a digital release.

Using the original 16mm footage that Pennebaker filmed of the concert as well as archival footage, newly shot interviews and animation, director Ron Chapman does a deep-dive into this concert headlined by Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Chicago, Alice Cooper, The Doors, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Little Richard as well as the Plastic Ono Band. This got some attention as it was the first big concert Lennon did outside of The Beatles. There's interviews with festival promotors John Brower and Ken Walker as well as Voorman, Cooper, and Robby Krieger of The Doors to name a few.

I had the same feeling watching this as I had when I saw Summer of Soul, Questlove's doc about the 1969 Harlem Cultural Concert. While that was a very different story (had more to say about the era itself and the story of unearthing the doc footage became a part of the story as well), this is also a doc about a 1969 music festival that was in the shadow of Woodstock, but had some of the biggest names of that era and I was blown away by the archival footage of both. The centerpiece of this festival is that Lennon became a part of it and performed. I had heard their performance on the live album, but seeing it as well as the interviews about it coming together is a gift for Beatle fans like me!

Ti West is one of the most exciting horror directors of this century. His third movie The House of the Devil was a powerful homage to 80s horror films on an ultra low budget. His follow up The Innkeepers was a worthy follow-up in the same slow burn vein. The found footage VICE journalists investigating a cult film The Sacrament was uneven at best. But he quietly came back with the one-two punch in 2022: the 1979-set X and the 1918-set Pearl (both among my Best Movies of 2022 list). West also found his muse in actress Mia Goth. She did double duty in X as adult film star Maxine Minx and the elderly land owner Pearl. But then we got the prequel of the early days of Pearl in 1918 and what lead her to be the way she was in the first film with Pearl. It's been two years, but the third in the trilogy MaXXXine opens this week from A24 with West, Goth and bigger cast than one would expect from this series.

It's now 1985 and Maxine Minx is in Hollywood a few years after surviving the massacre in Texas from the first movie X. This isn't glitzy Hollywood, this is sleazy seedy Hollywood in the mid-80s. Maxine is still pursuing fame not just as an adult film star, but in mainstream movies now. But while doing sleazy jobs in between auditions, the city is fearing the Night Stalker, a serial killer walking the city at night in L.A. There are some cops looking to Maxine for answers played by Michelle Monaghan and Bobby Cannavale. There's a studio horror movie Maxine is working on with a director played by Elizabeth Debicki. There's an agent played by Giancarlo Esposito. There's a porn star friend played by Halsey. There's a shady private eye played by Kevin Bacon.

I wanted to like this after really liking the previous two especially Pearl and being a fan of Ti West. But boy was this a letdown and a half! It is a film that thinks it's hip and cool and it's not. The previous two films were low-budget and West was pulling out some serious scares. Here it feels like he had a much bigger budget and bigger cast and "hey look how 80s this is!!!" production design and costumes. It had so much potential which is what's so frustrating about this: the idea of setting the Maxine in the Reagan 80s at a time when heavy metal music was bubbling up from the underground, video nasty VHS videos and low budget horror were on the rise, and devil worship was more than just something on Geraldo - and all of these things were converging in 1980s Hollywood. There could've been an awesome horror movie and instead it was trying too hard to be mainstream and glossy. And another thing - through this whole movie it's bowing at the alter of Brian De Palma's highly underrated 1984 erotic thriller Body Double and then in the last third (semi-spoilers ahead) West goes all-in and films the climax at a house in the Hollywood Hills that if it's not the house from Body Double it's a pretty darn close replica. Dude - I'd rather just watch Body Double at that point!?! There's elements of House of the Devil....but it lacks the undercurrent of fear and tension that film had. The two things that do deserve credit are Giancarlo Esposito who stole the entire film (look closely and there's an element of Gus Fring from Breaking Bad / Better Call Saul in his character) and Mia Goth who blew me away with Pearl and here she rose above the weakest film in the trilogy. But both Goth and West can do much better and I hope they do with their next film(s).

(...) Un día, en la Universidad de San Marcos, donde estudiaba, Sebastián Salazar Bondy me preguntó no sé por qué razón si escribía poesía. Le respondí que sí, que tenía algunos textos. Sebastián interesado me dijo: «¿Me los puede enseñar?». Fue muy curioso que me hablara de usted, porque era apenas un par de años mayor que yo. Le respondí que sí y al otro día le llevé un poema. Luego de leerlo me habló de un poeta que nunca había escuchado, un uruguayo llamado Julio Herrera y Reissig, de corte modernista. Me dijo que tenía mucha influencia de Herrera. Pero yo en mi vida lo había leído. Alberto Escobar recuerda a Salazar Bondy como un gran promotor cultural.
Sebastián, sobre todo, me hizo un gran favor: me enseñó a leer poesía. Me acercó mucho, en primer lugar, a la poesía de Moro, Adán y Westphalen. Al mismo tiempo, gracias a él, entablé amistad con Jorge Eduardo Eielson y Javier Sologuren. Juntos conformaríamos un grupo dentro de lo que se denominaría Generación del 50, que es una generación muy amplia donde hay muy buenos poetas. Al grupo que conformaba la crítica lo tildó de poetas puristas, lo que me parece una tontería, porque la poesía es una sola. De la misma forma respondo cuando me preguntan si hay poesía femenina: «La poesía es una sola, la buena, la que funciona». También, gracias a Sebastián, leí a Rimbaud, Lautréamont y Breton. Fue en esa época que mi gusto poético se empezó a formar.

Además, lo que estarás realizando es una experiencia de viaje y no un trabajo propiamente, pues no hay salario de por medio. Tampoco realizarás un voluntariado oficial, pues no firmarás por ninguna ONG (en la mayoría de los casos, si es que no son todos). Lo que se les olvida sobre Monsi
La idolatría de la que gozó Carlos M no se ha extinguido pero noto que no se le cita mucho, no fuera de los grupos de viudos y fans. Estos años -después de su muerte- no ha sido una referencia constante sino infrecuente y, me parece, menguante en la esfera pública. No ha resucitado como lectura renovadora o muy iluminadora, ni creo que se le esté leyendo tanto o más (caso de Octavio Paz). Su nombre vacío, su figura -la imagen de- tenían y tienen mayor poder que su obra.
Se le ha recordado como personaje, como escritor/apellido famoso, como “gloria” del pasado a la que se debe homenaje en ciertas fechas, y poco más. Se está vaciando su recuerdo en general? Eso parece. Y esto conlleva algo importante: la manipulación, de antes, de ahora... Quienes más recordarán al Monsi serán quienes quieren aprovechar la fama de su nombre. Como Jesús Ramírez Cuevas. Y esto me lleva a lo que quiero recordar porque se olvida, entre las flemas y flamas, las frías (oportunistas, calculadoras) flamas del amor Monsivaiano: el Monsi es responsable del primer encumbramiento inmerecido de “intelectuales” como el plagiario serial Fabrizio Mejía Madrid y de uno de los Goebbels de AMLO (no Hitler), el mencionado Ramírez Cuevas. Los ayudó, los protegió, sin tener grandes méritos. Por qué lo hizo? Porque Monsi era afecto a la grilla cultural. Bloqueó a “competidores” e intentó destruir carreras (Jorge Arturo Ojeda). A otros, como aquellos dos obradoristas, los ayudó para que le sirvieran como orejas e informantes, promotores y defensores; los protegió a cambio de lealtad. Algo peor que lo que hizo García Márquez con Jorge Castañeda, por poner un ejemplo. Se olvida, entonces, que Carlos M era mafia cultural.
Mucho indica que a ello, lo mafioso entre “la alta cultura”, se deben sus estrechas relaciones con Carmen Lira, jefa de izquierda trasnochada, y Consuelo Saizar, alta funcionaria panista. Ambas repartidoras de premios y castigos culturales. Y eso debería recordarse. Con algo más: Monsi tuvo muchas omisiones críticas sobre López Obrador; fue evidentemente lento para entender a ese personaje -a diferencia de Bartra o González de Alba.

Estoy sobrecargada pero esta vez es por mejores motivos. Quiero pensar.
Estoy cursando lo académico, tareas, luego el Arte, más pinturas y si, el arte es libre y se debe disfrutar pero si te quieres dedicar a ello tienes que comprometerte.
En el lugar donde curso Arte además de mis trabajos puedo tener la oportunidad por muy pequeña que sea ahora de fungir como promotor cultural, como maestro aun no. Pero para mi eso es maravilloso. Trabajaría técnicas mixtas si aceptan mi propuesta que presentaré mañana. Tengo que terminarla hoy si o sí. Me duele la cabeza por estar tanto tiempo frente al computador entre tareas y el Arte, más aun ahora estoy algo aterrada de que mi propuesta no les agrade o al contrario no dar lo que esperan de mi. Pero debo tener confianza, por mí, por ustedes, por que si lo logro ustedes verán que las cosas por muy horribles que vayan pueden mejorar. Estoy intentando ser una mejor versión de mi y claro que ahora es difícil, no he dormido bien pero sé que valdrá la pena. Y si declinan mi propuesta lo volveré a intentar más adelante y seré persistente.
Seamos personas que no pierdan la ilusión, eso jamás nos será arrebatado por el dolor.
Así que ahora no te preocupes por mí, este estrés es momentáneo, pronto saldré de vacaciones del colegio y podré descansar bien.
Alimentate, no dejes de hacerlo. Si estás en una encrucijada en la que te preocupa tu peso pero es el correcto no intentes perder peso, te haras daño y no te sentirás mejor. Vive amándote aunque sea difícil, eres lo más hermoso e importante que tienes.

Descansa e hidratate. Y duerme tranquilamente que entre todos nos cuidaremos, los sueños por muy malos que sean, se quedan ahí y tu vives, y aquí, en la realidad fuera de los problemas, las plantas, el cielo, el viento, el sol o la lluvia te susurran cuánto te aman. No estás sol@.
Pronto llegará el día en que puedas sonreír con sinceridad y amarte, se que te pido bastante pero lo hago porque creo en tu fortaleza.

Centro Cultural Los Pinos realiza segunda edición de ORIGINAL, encuentro de textil mexicano, bajo la inspiración p'urhépecha. Grunge: Putting Seattle's Alternative Scene on the map
The name of this blog comes from 2 main places. The first being that I wanted to discuss a broad scope of the extremely varied music that falls within the alternative genre. The second is that I generally refer to myself as being a part of the larger alternative scene as opposed to any of the specific subcultures, because I'm familiar with, and draw from quite a few of them. With that however comes a lack of full immersion in any of the subcultures I draw from, which, yes, has always bothered me. As such, I invite you to join me as I dive deeper into the history and evolution of one of those scenes: Grunge, or grunge-punk.
The scene started in Seattle, Washington in the 80s, with bands like Mr. Epp and the Calculations, Green River, the Melvins, and Soundgarden. Eventual "face" of the genre, Nirvana, started in the late 80's too, but they and the rest of the bands initially had a different sound than what became popular in the 90s. At its conception, the sound was a more direct fusion of first wave punk and metal sounds, featuring lots of "distortion, feedback, and fuzz effects". Lyrically too, these artists (mostly) pulled from the counter-culture themes in punk and in the city itself. (Seattle was very involved in the hippie movement of the preceding decades, as well as other "outside the norm" groups.) This can be seen especially well in Mr. Epp and the Calculations' Wild Youth On Money.

This sound would begin to change in the 90s as some bands dissolved and others took an interest in going in different directions or became more focused on "making it big", which many of their older fans would probably call "selling out." Nirvana's breakout Nevermind in 1991 was actually a shift towards pop for them. Compare Nirvana's Anorexorcist from 1987 to songs like Come As You Are from 1991.

The origin and attitude surrounding the term "grunge" is debated. Some argue that it started with Mark Arm of Mr. Epp, prior to the band's actual existence, stating that the band was "Pure grunge! Pure noise! Pure shit!" Others claim it came from the record labels like SubPop promoting the music of bands like Green River and Mudhoney, though it still possessed a similar tongue-in-cheek, snarky, self-deprecating essence. While it was likely originally a cheeky inside joke-descriptor that was proudly used by the bands, with the shift in sound and increasing popularity that occurred in the 90s, the attitude towards the term changed. According to some, many bands saw it shift from "descriptor to ultimate promotor," while others saw it as a term used in popular media to codify and incorrectly group basically all the young bands from Seattle at the time without much regard for actual sound or culture. Given the history popular media has with oversimplifying and/or misnaming counter-culture/underground movements that gained traction (see bboying/breaking to break dancing, etc.), I'm more inclined to believe the latter was the majority, particularly among those involved in making the music from the beginning.
Still, as it so often does, the short, popular name stuck, and is still being used. And, whether intentional or not, the promotional aspect of the term took root. The practical, "just what we were wearing anyway" clothes that many of the bands wore became the 'look' or the style associated with the genre. The combat boots, flannels, old clothes, beanies, and longer, kinda greasy hair were not meant to be a statement like the attire of many punk and metal bands had been, but it became one anyway as bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam gained popularity.
Many of the original artists involved in the scene collaborated and regrouped when bands dissolved or individuals found their interests aligned. For example, Green River (one of the first bands in the scene) split into Mudhoney and Mother Love Bone due to goal differences. In the split, Mother Love Bone picked up Andrew Wood from Malfunkshun, who's unfortunate passing led roommate and Soundgarden vocalist (and rhythm guitarist) Chris Cornell to join them & recruit backup vocalist Eddie Vedder to pay tribute to Wood. The product of that collaboration (known as a supergroup) was called Temple of the Dog, and although Cornell returned to Soundgarden, Vedder ended up joining Mother Love Band which became Mookie Blaylock, and then Pearl Jam. The point of me sharing all that is 1) I think its a wild ride of events, and 2) it illustrates both the supportive, collaborative side of grunge, and the uneasy pull between fame/success and staying "counter"/"underground" that existed in the scene.

Today, the genre has been expanded to include a variety of artists from the same time, and with a vaguely similar vibe from all over. Bands from outside of Seattle like Stone Temple Pilots and Bush received especially harsh criticism. This does feel rather 'gatekeepy' to me, which I tend to take issue with. However, given how far abstracted the music was and how commodified the term had already become by that point, I do kind of understand the frustration.
In essence, grunge is not necessarily dead, but it has been mutated into something only tangentially related to the original. Whether that is a problem or not I leave for you to decide.

MAGA/TRUMP FOLLOWERS ARE NOT WELCOME AT THESE RAVES!!!
I am going to talk about a subject that no one don’t like talking about but needs to be addressed. I am talking about MAGA/TRUMP FOLLOWERS that attend these raves parties. And the reason I bring this up is because I've been seeing alot of people posting videos and pictures on social media outlets like facebook, instagram/@thread, bluesky and even X/twitter. These people think they have the right to be the police and just judge someone or go after someone who is people of color, gay, lesbian or even trans. The longest i remember, ravers always welcome people of color and the lgbtqia over forty years now. And I have been going to raves since 2000s, I never had a problem with anyone as long as they love the rave culture. 
These people who attend these underground raves or festivals. Flagging their support of Trump or MAGA. telling people who are idle people of color or LGBTQIA that they’re not welcome at these events. Who said people like them are not welcome. We ravers welcome people of color and the LGBTQIA because we wanna give them a place of safe haven where we don't judge no one who they are, all while having a great time and enjoying the music. Yet people like you think you’re entitled to do and say and welcome anyone who attends these parties when you're the one who isn’t running the event. As far as it goes, you're just a guest at these rave events. 
We ravers follow these rules and that is PLUR: PEACE, LOVE, UNITY, AND RESPECT. And what ya represent is hate! Which isn’t welcome at these raves. And it has been that way since the longest i remember when i went to these raves when i was a young sixteen year teen. And what i also wanna say, promotors! Ya need to start checking who is coming to these events. I know that is kinda hard to do since you are dealing with a lot of other things but this is a serious matter. You don’t want a MAGA/TRUMP follower starting going to your events starting things and causing a fight and also calling the police which is the last thing ya don’t want. And also lose that relationship with the venus owner when he sees you’re nothing but trouble when in doubt it wasn’t your fault.  Something to the dj’s and performances, if you know a person who is a maga/trump follower, and you know they will cause trouble at an event you’re working at. Please let the promoter know or get security. And Ravers! I know ya have a group of friends or know people from the scene but! If you know a person that you don’t like because their vibe isn’t good and you know what they represent. Let the people and promoter know too. If we allow this to happen, we will have no place to party or rave because people like them will ruin it for all of us.
We can’t let these people influence other people to hate others. And spread hate to other people. And this goes to other outside cultures like the punk scene, metal scene, gothic scene etc. We can’t have this type of hate in our groups and events. I know it doesn't make sense but people who know do! If you see this happen at your local party please speak out, I am not trying to say dox them or explore them but speak out of the matter that happens at your local party or tell it to the promoter who can not let that person come in at these events anymore. As long as we limit the hate, there will be no more influence on others. Because after all, we all wanna do is party and escape reality, not be in one already.

Hino do SNS vai ser apresentado em Coimbra nas comemorações dos 45 anos
As comemorações dos 45 anos do Serviço Nacional de Saúde (SNS), promovidas pela Ordem dos Médicos do Centro em Coimbra, em setembro, incluirão a apresentação de um hino criado para celebrar a efeméride, anunciaram os organizadores.

As celebrações, da responsabilidade da Secção Regional do Centro da Ordem dos Médicos (SRCOM) e da Liga dos Amigos dos Hospitais da Universidade de Coimbra, pretendem assinalar a “data histórica” da fundação do SNS, em 15 de setembro de 1979, quando foi publicada a lei que criou o sistema universal de saúde em Portugal.
Este ano, a SRCOM abriu um concurso para a criação da letra do hino comemorativo dos 45 anos do SNS, tendo sido admitidos 28 textos inéditos, em poesia.
“Após a criteriosa escolha do júri, Catarina Canas é a autora da letra do Hino do SNS. Engenheira Química e Mestre em Escrita Criativa pela Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra, Catarina Canas estudou na Escola Artística de Música do Conservatório Nacional e é vogal do Conselho Artístico da Associação Cultural ‘Chorus Ingenium’”, assinalou a SRCOM, em nota de imprensa.
Fonte da Secção Regional do Centro da Ordem dos Médicos acrescentou, em declarações à agência Lusa, que o poema vencedor foi depois orquestrado pelo maestro do coro daquela entidade, Paulo Bernardino, também compositor, investigador e pianista.
O hino será assim apresentado publicamente em 15 de setembro, no Pavilhão Centro de Portugal, no Parque Verde do Mondego, local onde desde 2009, aquando das celebrações dos 30 anos do Serviço Nacional de Saúde, cresce a oliveira do SNS, cuja rega constitui, todos os anos desde a altura da sua plantação, um ato simbólico das comemorações.
Os promotores frisaram que o 15 de setembro é “uma data histórica de elevado interesse que se pretende que seja divulgada pela população, reforçando assim a motivação para que o SNS seja revitalizado e permanentemente rejuvenescido”.
Acrescentaram que o evento, que juntará médicos, profissionais de saúde e população em geral, “integrará uma relevante homenagem a todos os protagonistas do SNS”.
“Esta é também, uma forma de recordar o ex-ministro dos Assuntos Sociais, António Arnaut, um dos mentores desta tradição, que em vida sempre defendeu o SNS e acarinhou através da sua permanente atividade cívica, política e literária”.
“Este dia não é só o dia do SNS, mas é, também, o reconhecimento do papel de muitos médicos e tantos outros profissionais na construção e manutenção de um sistema público de saúde em Portugal”, realçou, citado na nota, Manuel Teixeira Veríssimo, presidente da SRCOM.
