The Decade Of Joy AU

Doey finally goes to see the “surprise” that The Prototype made for him

Poppy Playtime Make Believe AU where the events of the game are just a (very messed up) game the kids at the orphanage are playing.

It all started with "Huggy" playing a prank on the unassuming Player, secretly following them around. It spiraled from there because a lot of kids wanted to join in afterward. Poppy was the one who came up with the basic plot and got "The Prototype" to play the villain. Except for Theo and Poppy, nobody interacted with The Prototype, so nobody knows who the big bad is, but most are sure it must be Poppy's father, Elliot Ludwig.

It's Marie who first throws in the idea of cannibalism and everyone immediately loves it. Poppy puts her in charge of the Game Station in the story, and the shy Marie becomes the completely unhinged Mommy Long Legs. She blossoms as Mommy Long Legs. It is terrifying. But she accidentally breaks her arm during the game and has to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, much to her disappointment.

Theodore is the next one to focus the story on himself. At first his worship of the Prototype within the story is acceptable, but he gets a little too excited to play this game over time and steals some files on the other orphans to use as a base, so he as well as Marie (due to her broken arm) get to have long extensive talks with Elliot Ludwig. Because both incidents happened because they were needlessly antagonising the Player. Elliot is not amused. Poppy and the others decide rather than getting dragged away after being caught, Catnap deserves the honor of going out in a really cool boss fight.

Quinn acts like a rabid animal in the game. Outside, he is a relatively normal kid, but in game he goes full animal. It is terrifying

Riley is really happy she is involved, and writes some very intense diary entries that fit the story. Miss Harper is very concerned over this. "I am finally fitting in with the other kids :D" "I am being cut open. Life is hell"

Matthew was originally not supposed to be a part of the game since he is much older than most kids, but he was supervising Jack and Kevin at the time, who both wanted to join in, but only with him. Kevin was a bit too rowdy, so the adults asked Matthew to watch over him, and Jack's parents worked at the factory but couldn't find a babysitter. So Matthew was asked to handle both.

When it got pointed out by someone Jack needed to be an orpan, Kevin said they would just kill off his parents and Jack immediately happily agreed. As revenge for trying to exclude Jack from the game, the trio decided to kill off the character of the kid, Pianosaurus, immediately. "Pianosaurus" was mad over this, but the others found it hilarious.

Initially, the trio is teamed up with Poppy and the Player, but Kevin does not like this arrangement. When the Player messes up too much and them doing their job leads to most of the characters dying off, he convinces Matthew and Jack they should get revenge.

There are some adults who play along. The Prototype and... Harley Sawyer?? The mean doctor who most kids are convinced is evil. But Quinn managed to convince The Doctor to join in to torment the Player. Nobody is 100% sure if it is because Quinn was the one who asked or if the Doctor just hates the Player so much and loves tormenting them.

But for most adults the kids just reenact things they heard them say to fit the game, making them come off as exaggerated.

The Player is just some worker, none of the kids knows their name. They don't even realize they are made part of the kids' game, they just think they have very bad luck and the kids are being a bit weird. OK, not a bit weird, they are being chased around by kids, bitten by Quinn and attacked for no reason.

The guitar riff at the end of the Homestuck version of Megalovania is actually Vriska’s leitmotif because it plays during the part where she’s onscreen, and since learning that I’ve noticed that a LOT of remixes that thematically have nothing to do with HS will add it back in, probably not knowing this, unintentionally referencing Vriska Housetrapped from Domicileimprisoned in their Deltarune or Smash Bros remixes.

look my whole thing with this is that bec noir has an event horizon level of affection with jade. in canon homestuck, he doesnt touch that event horizon. but if jade like smiled at him a few times or gave him 1 shoulder pat, i think he'd start reconsidering his "kill everything" plan AT LEAST for a moment. and if she gave him snausages he would cross that event horizon, and he would kind of hate himself the whole time but he would do just about anything she said. unfortunately jade is not a manipulator really.

• Since there are cameras in some places ( i assume the doctor watches everything through them) Rory took the habit of smashing them with a broken pipe they found. And they always say some type of joke while they do it

It pisses off Sawyer and he cant see through that camera anymore

For Rory its a double win

• Rory remembers a bit more bits and pieces of the orphanage than they do of their life before their family died (their parents were theater performers and involved them and their sister into it. They all 3 died when their house burned down and Rory was the only survivor)

They took a lot remembering their birth name too (Wren) , thats why initially they went with their experiment number instead of their name

They didn’t use the toy’s name because the toy they were made into was supposed to be a still unreleased one and didn’t yet have a name

The name ‘Rory’ was given to them at the safe heaven

• Rory has a scent like all the smiling critters, and their scent is chocolate and strawberry

• They say how things are, full stop. They’re not rude about it but unless there is really the need to (for example with the younger toys or in situations where a bit of tact is needed) they do not sugarcoat it and they’re very blunt

• They prefer not getting outworldly mad, expecially when the younger toys are around, so instead they substitute it with a few sarcastic jokes and being petty in general

But outside of these situations, in general they can be really sweet, expecially to who they care about, and they are very friendly

• Rory reeeally doesn’t like nor trust Poppy. They arrived at the safe heaven when Doey was already running it and, after they recognized each other and Doey caught them up on everything that happened, they were appalled. From how they saw it, Poppy just left without even a single word or not as much as a heads up and had put Doey in position in which he had to take charge (and heck taking care of everybody and everything) not to mention probably setting panic among the others in safe heaven that had now have no idea why the one who had led them and they trusted for so long just disappeared.

They were aware they might not know the entire story but they couldn’t help but be furious

And the moment she came back, after years of them and Doey doing all by themselves, not only the prototype is now dangerously close to the safe heaven but she also starts explain how blow everything up is the only way? Which could possibly harm the others at the safe heaven whom they consider family as much as they consider Doey a brother?

Well that just made them even angrier

• Sometimes they wish they could do more when it comes to help at the safe heaven and Doey

They feel even worse that they aren’t as strong physically, they can’t really protect in that way as well as they would like

They are vey agile however

• They lost their eye when they got attacked while scavenging for supplies

Needless to say, they scared the crap out of Doey when they came back from scavenging missing an eye, completely soaked in blood, with a broken pipe they used as a weapon and a box supplies they managed to find

Doesnt help they have a habit of downplaying stuff and joke about it in the worst way possible

(This one is a lil reference of Wren before the experiments and how i think Mattew, Jack and Kevin looked as well)

{Jessica confronts the "Ollie" situation after waking up from her confrontation with doctor Sawyer.]

Doey, concerned seeing his sister walking around: What are you doing, Jess? you shouldn't be up right now.

Jessica: Don't worry about me, you all need worry about now...See something has be bothering me since Playcare...

Poppy: What do you mean?

Jessica: How old is Ollie?

Poppy: What does that have to...?

Jessica: It's a simple question; How .Old. Is. Ollie?

Doey: 8...I think.

Jessica, nods: 8 years old...And when was he turned into a toy?

Poppy: He's not.

Jessica: Not a toy? And how do you know that? have you actually met him in person?

Poppy: Well, n-no. But he;

Jessica: That doesn't make any sense, you said he helped you in the past- back in 1995, right? That would mean Ollie hasn't aged in the last ten years. Which is impossible for a human! Even if by some grace of sheer dumb luck he manage to survive this long, he should be my age now. So either he was turned into a toy or;

Poppy, cutting her off: You're crazy! Doey tell your sister she's being crazy!

{Doey starts to catch on to what his sister was implying, he was about tell her she was being ridiculous! But the more he thought about it, the more sense it made...}

Ollie, checking in: Guys? What's going on?

Poppy: Nothing! Jessica just is acting-

Doey: You're not Ollie are you?

Ollie:

Jessica: Hey now, don't leave my brother hanging... 1006.

[Poppy was going to tell them that they were mistaken but then "Ollie" started to laugh, and not in a childish manner this was ominous as the voice changed.]

Prototype, cycling between Sawyer, Mommy and Catnap's voices: So you figured it out did you? About time, I was wondering how long I had to keep that stupid charade up. *chuckles* Too bad, it was starting to get fun.~

Poppy, drops the phone: What?

Prototype: Shame it has to end like this, I was expect a bigger bang.

{Doey is confused until he hears a beeping noise coming from under ground and realized what the prototype meant.]

Doey: Jessica! Get-

{There was boom and floor suddenly caved in taking Jessica down into the depths, Doey stared stared in horror at the hole where his little sister once stood; he was so overwhelmed he didn't notice that Jack has separated from him and followed Jessica down the hole in mere seconds before the dust cleared, then he saw Poppy coming out from hiding and the shock he felt was soon replaced with unbridled rage! in an instant Kevin had separated from Matt in a monstrous form}

Kevin: POPPY!! IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT! I'LL KILL YOU!!

{Poppy gasps and flees in terror as Kevin chases her down, Matt meanwhile looked between the hole and direction Kevin ran off in conflicted on who to go after first? But Kevin's rampaging around Safe haven was enough to help make up his mind and he ran after him.

Meanwhile Jessica wasn't dead thanks to Jack cushioning her fall, however the two were pretty much stuck in the mines and their own until help arrived and unfortunately they weren't alone as a group of feral critters started hunting them..]

Finally have some things about the Poppy Playtime AU that I can share.

It just doesn't have a name yet lol

It's a human AU, mixing my favorite book series (Miss Peregrine's home for peculiar children) with the characters from PPT. Most of the plot stays the same (kids being experimented on, the hour of joy) and it still takes place in the factory.

If I get to write something about this AU, it would probably be separated in 4 POVs, I don't have any digital drawings, but, I have some doodles:

Group/Plot A - Safe Haven/The survivors

This group consists of Doey(Matthew/Kevin/Jack), most of the smiling critters, Kissy and a few of the smaller toys. They don't live in the safe haven we know from chapter 4, not anymore at least, now, they reside in playcare (there's 2 playcares, it gets a bit confusing, but I'll try to explain it at the end).

Their goal is to rescue kids/toys while trying to find a way out of the factory.

Who is the PoV wasn't decided yet.

Group/Plot B - Prisoners/The seekers

This group starts with only Yarnaby/Quinn, where he's been locked up on the prison for a LONG time, even before the hour of Joy. This plot starts with him being set free by the doctor, who asks Yarnaby to free him from... wherever he is. As he explores the prison area, the group starts to get bigger, as Pianosauros (bud's alive lol) and the Nightmare Critters join him.

Yarnaby/Quinn is the PoV for this Plot.

Group/Plot C - The Prototype Gang

The main danger of the AU, the 4 most loyal people to the prototype: Catnap/Theo, Huggy, Mommy/Marie and Boxy. Each takes care of a part of the factory, Huggy with the entrance floor and the catwalks where Poppy was, Mommy/Marie with the game station floor, Catnap/Theo with the playcare (the other one) and Boxy with the prison.

Catnap/Theo is the PoV for this Plot.

Group/Plot D - Game Station Duo/The Lost ones

This is a plot that is intertwined with Plots A and C, as it follows people Safe Haven is trying to save and the Prototype Gang keeps as hostage. It follows Bunzo and PJ as they escape the Game Station when Long Legs left for a meeting.

Other toys might join this group, buy I don't have who would join.

Bunzo is the PoV for this Plot.

The Factory

There's technically 3 factories, but only 2 will appear in the AU. Now, why is that?

This is where the Miss Peregrine's series comes into play. There's a thing called a loop, where the same day repeats in a, well, a loop.

In this AU, there's the present: the original factory where the hour of joy happened. Playcare/the worker's loop: Where the Peculiar kids stayed to be eventually trained to be toys, it's now on the hands of the prototype. And there's Safe Haven: the loop poppy made to keep the toys against the hour of joy safe.

Peculiar kids/The Toys

As mentioned above, all who would be a "living toy" in the game, are actually just peculiar kids persuaded to act like and answer as the toy character it was assigned.

What is a peculiar? It's a person who was born with a "second soul" that grants them a "super power", it's also what allows them to live in loops, normals (people without a second soul) can't even enter the loops, that makes it a safe place for peculiars to live.

At least, that's why a loop is normally created.

Chapter Summary: A Double-Feature! Aiden finally confronts Yarnaby, new memories, and friends while getting some help from unlikely sources. Meanwhile, Doey discovers a hidden lab that holds parts of the mystery regarding the former employee and their abilities that help them survive.

Finally! As I am posting this on Tumblr, I am currently in Oregon for a few days. Yesterday, I finally finished Part 1 of the midway point of my fic “Aiding A Pal”!

It might take a while for the next chapter, but I wanted to get it done since literally last week, all the ideas I had for the lore and character just flowed through me non-stop. The reason Aiden is how he is, Doey’s situation, new characters, foreshadowing, and more! Also included is the fact that Aiden was Poe’s voice actor and the Nightmare Critters will play a role in the AU.

This has taken a lot out of me and I just feel so relieved finishing this chapter.
