Buffy The Vampire Slayer & Angel fancast

Doing a new Buffy/Angel fancast.

Not there's anything wrong with my old fancast, but man is it outdated now. Especially with younger actors/actresses much better suited

Before we get to the fancast, I'd like to share some changes I'd share for the Buffyverse

Buffy. Buffy’s character would largely remain the same, she’d be badass, adorkable, quirky, snarky and sarcastic. However, I’d make this version of Buffy earn the title “Class Protector” in more ways than just saving her fellow students from the literal monsters. She wouldn’t stand for bullying, for instance, and she’d help where she could. But when Jonathan is trying to kill himself in season 3, Buffy would be understandable and would talk him down and show him that life is worth living. Buffy would not leave after killing Angel. She is in mourning but would not abandon her friends. She breaks down in the final episode of season 2, Giles, Xander, Willow and Cordelia are there for her. Season 7 Buffy was absolutely awful. So there would be none of that. No talking like she’s superior, no talking like only she can do the job, no calling a suicide victim weak and no being simply awful and shitty writing.

The situation with Buffy’s parents would be different. In the original show, I was not happy with how Buffy’s dad was handled. "Oh, he’s a bad guy now and we should all hate him". For my proposed reboot, I’d have Buffy’s dad die in Lothos’ attack on Hemery High School. Buffy could not save him and she slays the vampires not only for her duty as a slayer but also as a way to honor her dad

Giles. Giles would be like his original counterpart, but for changes I’d say that this Giles would be witty a lot more, matching Buffy and the other Scoobies in terms of snark. I would also focus a lot more on his “Ripper” side. We’d get a fully fleshed out backstory for him, likely through the use of flashbacks.

Willow would be the same as she was in the original, although her sexual orientation would be evident much earlier, perhaps even from the start. This would be done to provide commentary on LGBT+ in a different way than in the original show, with Willow’s orientation coming to light in high school, not college, and how that would change things. Willow and Tara meet in high school and fall in love. Tara inspires Willow’s interest in magic, while they better themselves as witches, they would also become soul mates.

Xander. Xander keeps his smart ass and adorkable nature. However a few things. Xander would always remember his friend Jesse. When Angel proves himself to be good, Xander apologizes to Angel for his attitude because Darla killed his friend Jesse. Xander would actually be Buffy’s friend instead of a sexist asshole. When Xander’s still possessed by the hyena spirit and tries to rape Buffy while possessed, after he loses the possession, he apologizes to his actions instead of hiding behind “I don’t remember” excuse. The only real dickish thing I’d have Xander do is to be seen cheating on Cordelia with Anya. And after he does that, no slut-shaming and victim blaming Cordelia. Xander apologizes cause he actually saw that happened with his parents and he does not want to be like them and actually learns from his mistakes and not act like it’s everyone else’s fault. Xander trusts and respects Buffy and her life choices and doesn’t act bitter throughout the entire series cause Buffy rejected him. Doesn’t keep the info of Buffy that Angel can be resouled, he doesn’t guilt trip or victim blames his friends. Xander has good moments, but Xander in the original series was an awful character, in the reboot Xander would be a better person. There'd be a plot about Xander coming out as enby and his pronouns being his/their pronouns.

Dawn. As for how I would change Dawn, she’d be there right from the start. That way, we get to know and love her before finding out that she didn’t always exist (in this universe, the monks would have created her shortly before Buffy moved to Sunnydale,). Also, she and Buffy would have a much better relationship than they did in the original show, with the only serious point of conflict being Buffy’s desire to protect Dawn clashing with Dawn’s insistence that she doesn’t need protecting. They’d still argue about small things, of course, but in general, they’d have a really good relationship. I also see Dawn figuring out Buffy’s status as the Slayer before they move to Sunnydale, and always trying to help any way she can (going to the Sunnydale High library after her school lets out so she can help with the research and whatnot, for instance).

Cordelia. Cordelia starts out the same the queen bee of Sunnydale we all know and love. But after Buffy saves the school from The Master, that’s where Cordy’s character development begins and where she joins the team. Season 2. She becomes besties with Buffy, apologizes for how she treated Willow and Xander and eventually Xander and Cordelia have a relationship. But rather than seeing Xander cheat on Willow/Willow cheat on Oz with Xander, Xander cheats on Cordelia with Anya.

Anya. I’d have it explicitly stated that the reason she’s so disconnected with humanity is because of how long she’s been a demon, because I’ve seen people going “But wait, she was human, why is she so clueless about humans?”, so making that explicitly obvious would bypass those comments. Her relationship with Xander will help her become more human

Harmony. Pre-Vampire she’s how she was. But she is turned into a vampire by Drusilla. Drusilla and Harmony have a relationship rather than Harmony and Spike’s one sided relationship. Harmony retains her bubbly personality. Harmony and Drusilla’s relationship is basically the vampire Harley and Ivy!

Tara. Tara remains her wonderful and lovable self. Only difference is that Tara would be introduced in High School instead of college.

Willow and Tara’s relationship is not toxic due to Willow’s addiction with magic, that would be cut out or at the very least it would all be worked out more and she would not just be brought back to be frigged and another “bury your gays and the bad Dark Willow story. So here is what happens. First of all, Amy is not character assassinated. Amy's mother puts Willow on the magic abuse and Dark Willow path. Tucker survives and because of Dracula leaving him behind, he takes his rage out on Buffy, the bullet misses and it hits Tara. It's Amy who helps bring Tara back and Tara and Xander bring the real Willow back. And Tara, Amy and Willow go on a journey to help find the real magic or whatever Tara lives, and Willow and Tara would live together and happy. aka one giant fuck you to Whedon's bullshit

Oz’s character would remain the same but his relationship does not happen. They have a close friendship. He does have feelings for Willow, but she comes out to Oz telling her she’s a lesbian and Oz is sad but she’s happy for her and happy to be her friend. Oz’s werewolf story still happens, but at the end of season 4 his transformations become more uncontrollable and out of fear of hurting his friends, Oz leaves so no one can ever be hurt. He has a sad farewell to everyone

Faith. In the reboot we would see what an awful life Faith is living living with abusive parents, this version of Faith would actually hate the idea of sex, as she refuses to let anyone touch her. and Mayor Wilkins mentally abuses her, he gaslights Faith to make her feel like it’s meant to be this way because no one ever saw value in her but him, until she meets Buffy. At the end of season 3, instead of Buffy stabbing Faith, Buffy helps save Faith. When we see her confront Buffy. Faith would break down in front of Buffy asking Buffy to kill her but all Buffy does is embrace her. Buffy and Faith would once again be the chosen two and together they work to bring to end The Mayor’s reign of terror. Fuffy would be the end game.

Angel/Angelus. Angel would be much the same, although Angelus would definitely be fully-formed right from his first full appearance (I always felt that Angelus sort of started off as “Angel, but bad”, before evolving into the evil bastard he was by his last appearance). When Angel returns in season 3 after he regains control, everything is the same but basically is when we get Buffy and Angel’s breakup and their friendship. They love each other and will always love each other but it can’t be and towards the end of season 3, Buffy finds love again with Faith.

Spike. Spike starts out as a villain and becomes an anti-villain who only helps out the Scoobies if it benefits him. Since Warren does not exist in my reboot, Spike would not have the “Buffybot” There would be a change in Spike’s character. In season 5 after Joyce passes away he is there as emotional support for Buffy and keeping Dawn safe during the beginning of season 6 would help him see that he can be good. Buffy/Spike wouldn’t happen, it wouldn’t even be a toxic aspect of Buffy’s return. It would be Buffy and Spike gaining respect for each other. So that Seeing Red abomination would not happen and Spike doesn’t need to get his soul back. Being around Buffy, Joyce, Dawn, and the Scoobies in general made Spike feel like he has a soul. He was able to act altruistically on his own.

Darla and Drusilla. Their characters remain largely the same but the Spike/Drusilla dynamic would be a mix of their original selves and but Drusilla is inspired from the way Angelus turned her to doing the same to William. Killing Spike’s mother and Cecily then finding William and turning him into Spike.

The Fanged Four are the big bads of season 2. Season 2 we actually see the Fanged Four together. Darla escapes her death in season 1 and after the death of The Master. She brings Spike and Drusilla to Sunnydale. Angelus and Darla together once again and all four raise hell on Sunnydale, Angelus plan to torture Buffy remains the same. But Darla is killed by Giles for what Angelus did to Jenny. Spike turns against Angelus and Drusilla cause he doesn’t want the world to be destroyed, he likes the world. And pretty much the same.

The Master. Regarding how The Master would be in the reboot, he would be much more Affably Evil in this incarnation. He’d also dress in fine clothes in an effort to keep some sense of dignity and class to him now that he’s stuck down in the abandoned church (or wherever he would be stuck in the reboot). In terms of his physical appearance, I would actually have him look mostly human, with only a few hints to his age, such as permanent fangs, red eyes and talon-like nails. He’d also be one of two vampires who could actually walk in the sun, which would only come out when he escapes. That ties in with how I would handle vampires in the reboot

Mayor and Glory are pretty much the same.

There would be the Angel series, but I would introduce Fred & Gunn in Buffy. We meet Fred in Buffy's college and meet Gunn in a hunt gone wrong where his sister dies and Gunn briefly joins The Scoobies before branching out and then we get Wolfram & Hart in ATS

The Initiate happens, but Adam does not exist. Their goal is they want to get rid of all non-human creatures, regardless of whether they’re bad or good and intends to cage Buffy because Walsh views Slayers as an old relic of an old age and views Buffy dangerous and cause Walsh is a racist monster. But also to make Walsh feel even worse, I’d write Walsh as a white feminist. she’s super progressive, but gatekeeping and transphobic and racist and just overall an awful person. Basically, the “I want equality, but only between straight white men and straight white women” bullshit, so ya know, like JK Rowling. The final fight in this story would be Buffy and Riley. Walsh basically OD’s Riley on the Initiate’s super steroids to the point where Riley isn’t a conscience, Riley is just a weapon to Walsh. and after Buffy stops Riley, Walsh is arrested for war crimes. So basically, Walsh is the Umbridge of Buffy. I’d also make it clear that Riley is toxic to Buffy. He’s got all his negative qualities that he had in the original show (being weirdly upset that a girl is stronger than him and thinking that said girl should drop everything to make him feel good), but here, they’re supposed to be seen as disgusting.

Because I cannot see anyone playing Lorne. I will make the villain from Once More With Feeling, Sweet a reoccurring character. The biggest change to Sweet would be that, after his first appearance he would be a minor recurring character. I would incorporate some of Lorne’s qualities into Sweet, having him run a demon bar (like Caritas) where Buffy and the Scoobies would go for information (like Willy’s Bar in the original Buffy). I would also have him be neutral, and actually willing to help the Scoobies with stuff as he prefers peace and quiet and doesn’t think highly of those who intentionally stir up trouble. Aside from that, Sweet would be the same.

In the reboot, Wesley would be quite different to how he is in the “original” Buffyverse. He’d still be very focused on rules (with his character arc being that he realizes that rules sometimes need to be ignored), but I also see him being quite physical, being more than capable in a fight. He would be Faith’s watcher. After Faith’s downward spiral and being gaslighted into becoming the Mayor’s weapon, The Watcher Council demands that Wesley “kill her and we’ll make sure the next one’s better behaved” it starts Wesley’s character development and enlists Buffy’s help in saving Faith.

The Trio never happens. Instead, Dracula is the Big Bad of the final season and Tucker Wells would be like his new Renfield. We’d have it explained that the events of Bram Stoker’s novel does happen, but Mina Harker was the slayer in her generation and Van Helsing was her watcher. And Dracula comes to Sunnydale to see if the new Slayer is his equal. In the end everyone unites against Dracula in the finale. Buffy, Faith, Angel and Spike have killed Dracula everyone is exhausted and Dracula reforms going “well this has all been very amusing but I’m afraid my friends the fun is over” then Dracula leaves for Transylvania. It was never about killing Buffy . It was never about settling old scores. Dracula doesn’t care about world domination or world destruction or evolving his species because ruling or destroying the world would make things too boring for him. He never took his plan seriously(though he played it like it was) and after leaving he undoes the plan and it was all about Dracula amusing himself but the fun is over. Side note. Warren, Andrew and Jonathan would be Tucker's underlings. He uses them to fulfill Dracula's orders. Convinces Warren to be darker(which leads to his ex's murder) and Tucker kills his brother to show how awful Dracula's made him and this in turn leads to Jonathan's redemption and takes Andrew's role in the final season

The final season has The First Evil being replaced by The Beast from Angel and his thralls being Wolfram & Hart and The Watcher Council. Wolfram & Heart have been preparing for The Beast's arrival. Everything they've been doing against Angel & co is doing is to prepare for the ascension of The Beast. It would also be revealed that the Senior Partners are the Princes of Hell. the Watcher’s Council being in league with The Beast and Caleb would be changed from a superpowered preacher to The Watcher Council's Assassin. having found out how to recreate the ceremony that created the Slayer, so they decide to restart. Of course, The Beast would backstab them about halfway through the season.

Now finally onto The fancast.(keep in mind I won't have photos for everyone as tumblr's 30 picture limit is stupudly a thing)

Wolf-359 Characters as D&D Classes

Eiffel: College of Lore Bard; easy enough to see this one - Eiffel’s strength is in his communication skills, both from a technological standpoint and his ability to Never Stop Talking; bards are also known for being solid in pretty much every skill, playing into his ability to back the play of his much more specialized companions; lore bards, in addition to specializing in a broad catalogue of stories (helloooo encyclopedic star wars knowledge), are noted as being likely to tell it like it is, even to people ranking far above them, and Eiffel rarely minces words when he’s got a complaint to air; the idea of Eiffel with cutting words, diminishing everyone else's usefulness with endless jabber, also feels apt

Minkowski: Oath of Glory Paladin; the paladiniest pal to ever din; rigid in her adherence to her sworn duty and willing to do whatever it takes to see that through to the end; i originally considered giving her oath of the crown, as that might relate to loyalty to the rules as set by Pryce & Carter, but i realized this would likely cause her to go oathbreaker at some point as her faith in that waned, so i decided on glory instead, which focuses more on her bonds with her immediate circle and desire to see them become the best versions of themselves

Hilbert: Circle of the Moon Druid; okay, hear me out - Hilbert may not come across as too mystic/nature-focused, but druids are known for being both solitary and secretive in their practices, and to me, that made more sense than something like a wizard who needs to slap his name and tower on the map; druids, in the higher levels, can also achieve an extremely extended lifespan, far outliving their peers, tying to his goals of outliving each crew (or his knowledge outliving his own body); moon druid in particular allows for ease of shapeshifting and adapting to new situations quickly, as hilbert has been known to do

Hera: Wild Magic Sorcerer; sorcery is a class of magic one is simply born with, making it a good match for the AI who didn't have a say in what their purpose in life would be; sorcerers are also one of the squishier classes, vulnerable to physical attacks (what's a sorcery point against a wrench to your "face" or someone pulling your plug); for wild magic sorcerers, mastering their power can be a dangerous process, as using their powers may inconvenience them or even hurt their allies, as seen in many of the station's tech incidents throughout the series, but a high level one can dominate their environment

Lovelace: Great Old One Warlock; while she may have been something else originally, getting yeeted into a star with no hope of return and still coming back alive is the perfect setup for a warlock pact, especially with an ancient entity nearly beyond human comprehension; warlocks can be hella powerful in combat and also have the charisma to let them act as the face of their party, but a pact also comes with its own costs, such as occasionally making you the mouthpiece for that higher power; great old ones also come with a mid-level feature that makes them immune to telepathy and resistant to other psychic abilities, which made me think of her late-series revelations

Maxwell: Horizon Walker Ranger; i feel like this one is another slight "hear me out," but rangers are another of those classes that can be good with a bit or everything - melee, casting, healing, as seen in her usefulness coming into the field with SI5, running circles around the Hephaestus crew while also working with Hera - but they do that on top of some very specific specializations; her work with languages and AI, and the ultimate goal of reaching out to alien life, made me think of the horizon walkers, who find it easy to cross the boundaries between worlds and can ally with or decimate inhuman enemies

Jacobi: Evocation Wizard; this was one of the most intuitive choices to me; the highly technical specialty? wizard; its ultimately destructive nature? evocation and harnessing the destructive power of the elements; sculpt spell allowing him to nail down the minute detail of what he's blowing up; would absolutely be that player to have a "i didn't ask how big the room was, i said i cast fireball" t-shirt

Kepler: Inquisitive Rogue; rogues can have great utility both out of combat, with a reliable talent that practically won't let them fail at certain skills, and in it, when they can cause massive damage in short order and use their allies to get the most out of their own abilities; to me, this encompasses Kepler's own skills that earned his rank in SI5, and how he's most powerful in the narrative when he has hand-picked allies he can rely on; inquisitive rogue also comes with a slew of social skills, allowing these rogues to easily spot weaknesses and secrets and use them to their advantage
