You and Quinn had left the following night while everyone was asleep, he had told his brothers of your plan but nobody else knew.

According to Jack, Trevor thought you’d gone home to New York and believed that Quinn had to make an unexpected return to Vancouver over something with his apartment.

You and Quinn spent a week in the Bahamas, long days under the sun and in the ocean while your nights were full of delicious food and long talks on the balcony of your room.

Something had shifted during that week, you weren’t sure what it was but whatever it was had you making no moves to stop him when he pressed his lips against your on the last night.

When he pulled away you were as red as a fire truck and it wasn’t from the sunburn you had, and that night you two shared a bed rather then sleeping in your own separate queen beds.

However the second you two entered the airport you felt dread fill your stomach, he held a ticket to return to Michigan while yours was for New York.

There was an admission of feelings in the middle of the airport from Quinn, he had explained that he liked you and had for a while. Yoy told him you liked him back, Quinn made you feel a warmth in your chest that you had never experienced with anyone else before, not even Trevor.

However you opened up about how you were scared about getting into something right now and he understood. So over the next couple of months you two resorted into nonstop texting that had turned into late FaceTime calls that would go on for hours.

Until finally in March you had gotten a job to decorate a home all the way in Vancouver that would need you to stay there for at least three weeks and upon hearing the news, Quinn was thrilled.

He opened his apartment to you and you spent your entire trip wrapped up with him, movie marathons, Quinn showing you around to his favorite places, dinners, ice cream, and anything else the boy could think of.

You felt confident and content with Quinn, the way he always had a strong arm wrapped around you and introduced you as ‘His Girl’ to his teammates when you attended one of him games.

The butterflies in your stomach and persistent blush on your cheeks didn’t go away once while you were in Vancouver, and you weren’t mad about it.

Over the previous months you had taken time to grow as a person, learned to love yourself and noticed that what you felt with Trevor wasn’t true love.

It was silly feelings you’d had since you were younger, you had feelings for someone that didn’t exist anymore. You had feelings for the young and silly Trevor, the one who would stay up with you for hours playing board games and snacking on candy that went against his diet.

Not the Trevor that had grown during his time in the Nhl, the still silly and witty Trevor but he’d grown cocky. He had become someone new, someone you didn’t recognize. He no longer knew your favorite things and you didn’t know his.

He’d became the poster boy that scored cool goals and worked his ass off. The pretty boy that puck bunnies and models lined up for, the boy that could care less about your achievements and feelings. The boy that disregarded your emotions and blew up on you.

What you felt with Quinn was new, fresh, your chest wasn’t filled with anxiety and worry. It was now warm and full of love, you didn’t worry when you told him you were ready for more if he was too.

That night he showed you just how ready he was, he took you to dinner at his favorite restaurant, then when you returned to his apartment he walked you to his bedroom and took off your clothes one by one.

He took care of your body in a way you never felt before, it wasn’t sex, he made love to you. He took his time and learned your body, learned the things that pulled those little whimpers from your throat, and the things that made you cry out his name loud enough for his neighbors to hear.

He woke you up the next morning with flowers and breakfast in bed, he made all your favorite breakfast foods and had gotten your favorite flowers.

After the two of you ate he had asked you to be his girlfriend, and he’d never felt such joy before when you said yes and pulled him into a deep kiss.

And now you two were gearing up for your arrival to the lake house. Sitting in the backseat of an Uber on the way to the house.

Trevor was already there along with Cole, Alex, and some of the other guys that came every year.

“Nervous?” Quinn asked softly from his spot beside you, his thumb rubbing soothingly along you legging covered thigh.

“Not really, I missed your brothers and everyone. It’s just going to be weird seeing Trevor after what happened.” You shrugged, eyes looking out the window.

“Hey” he called softly, hooking a finger under your chin and turning your head to face him. “It’ll be okay. It’s my house and if he has a problem then he can leave”

You smiled at him and whispered a small thank you and before you knew it you were pulling up to the large lake house.

Quinn got out first and made his way around to the back of the car to get your bags while you gathered up your things and took a deep breath before exiting the car.

Jack was already waiting on the porch when you two got there. There was a large smile on his face as he pulled his brother in a tight hug despite his dripping hair and soaked body, No doubt getting right out of the pool when he heard a car pull up.

He moved onto you next and an evil smirk over took his face as he watched you step back from not wanting to get wet.

“No I’ll give you a hug once you dry off.” You laughed trying to get around him and into the house, however you weren’t fast enough and he had you up in the air running outside.

You could hear Quinn laughing as he followed behind and as you made it outside the familiar hoots and hollers of Luke and his friends filled the air.

“Jack, no! Don’t do it.” You laughed as he neared the edge of the pool.

“Give me one good reason”

“If you won’t then I won’t kick your a-“ however you were cut off as your body was submerged in ice cold water.

“Jack Rowden! You asshole.” You coughed as you made it back to the top.

The boy was bent over in laughter as he clenched his stomach while your boyfriend was beside him offering you his hand with a towel in the other.

“Come on I got you.” He laughed and you took his hand allowing him to Pull you from the cold water and wrap you in a fluffy towel.

You pushed Jack in from his spot next to you, a laugh of your own bubbling from your throat as his body splashed into the water.

“Payback bitch!” You called behind you as you wrapped your arm around Quinn’s waist and made your way back into the house.

You took a fast shower in Quinn’s bathroom before returning to the room where he was unpacking your suitcases.

“Can you hand me a bathing suit and one of your shirts please.” You asked him softly.

Quinn nodded as he reached into your suitcase and grabbed the first one he saw, a dark blue one to match his jerseys.

He smirked as he remembered you ordering it a few weeks ago, “come here.” He called.

You blushed as you shuffled over to him, his large hands removing the towel you had wrapped around your body. He grabbed the bottoms and kneeled down in front of you, holding them open for you to step into them before he slid them up your smooth legs.

He picked up the flimsy top before motioning for you to spin around, he placed the cups over your breasts before securing the bottom ties, his hands slowly moving up to tie the top ones.

You shivered as you felt his warm breath against your neck, his beard prickling your skin as his lips kissed along the side of your throat.

“Your brothers and friends are downstairs.” You whimpered as his hands reached around your body, fingertips tracing along the top of your bottoms.

“I don’t care.” He shrugged.

A squeal broke from you as your body was spun around quickly and his warm lips were against yours, his hands slipping down to your thighs while yours went to tug the hairs at the back of his neck.

He kissed you deeper as he picked you up and placed you on his dresser, his teeth nipped at your lower lip before they began to trail down your body.

His lips were inches from your breast when his door swung open, and an all to familiar voice filled the room.

“Quinn my favorite broth-what the hell?” Trevor stopped in his tracks as his eyes caught you perched on Quinn’s dresser with the defenseman between your thighs.

Trevor’s eyes locked on yours and while you were sure your face was full of shock and embarrassment His eyes were dark and clouded with anger.

“What’s she doing here?” He scoffed.

“You mean what’s my girlfriend doing here? I invited her.” Quinn smirked.

“Your girlfriend?”

“Yes and I’d appreciate it if you got out, we’ll be downstairs in a moment.” Quinn smiled all too politely for the emotions that were brewing behind his eyes.

Trevor replied with a scoff before turning around and making his way out of the room, not bothering to shut the door behind him.

“He ruined the mood didn’t he?”

“Yep” you breathed looking at Quinn apologetically.

He sighed but moved back and helped you off the dresser before pulling one of his shirts over your head and guiding you downstairs.

Everyone-including Trevor were gathered in the kitchen, Some people had beers and seltzers while others had food and fruits in their hands.

“Y/n!” Cole smiled as he noticed you, pushing Trevor out of the way so he could wrap you in a hug.

“His Cole.” You smiled as you hugged the boy back.

“How’ve you been?” He asked.

“Cole we were just talking the other day.” You giggled.

“So? I haven’t physically seen you in forever.” He scoffed before giving you one more squeeze and returning to his food.

“So when did you two get together?” Trevor smirked yearning him a smack on the arm from Jack.

“When she came to visit in over March but we’ve known we wanted each other since our trip last summer.” Quinn shrugged.

“What trip?” Trevor asked confused and there were a few people that agreed with him.

“When I was gone for that week like mid June, me and Y/n went to the Bahamas.” He explained.

“Wait I thought she went home and you went to Vancouver because something happened with your place.” Trevor asked even more confused now.

“Nope, I was packing to go home when Quinn asked if I wanted to go away and I said sure.” You shrugged.

Trevor didn’t give you a reply, nor did he care to stick around. He grabbed his water bottle and made his way outside towards the backyard.

“Well this should be a fun summer.” Luke coughed causing the entire group to nod in agreement.

The following weeks were much of the same, boat rides, late nights by the fire, hook ups in the back of Quinn’s jeep, and Trevor acting like a complete ass.

Most days would be filled with snarky comments at any chance he got, and quite frankly you were getting sick of it, and you weren’t the only one.

Jack as well as Cole had said something to him multiple times about acting like a child and being petty but it never deterred the boy.

Alex had told him that he needed to be an adult and talk things out with you and see things from your side. You had left liked he asked and moved on with your life but he was still stuck on the fact that you’d gone and got with one of his good friends.

“Maybe i should just say something.” You suggested to Quinn as you could feel Trevor’s eyes on you through the sliding doors of the kitchen.

“I’m not going to tell you no because a conversation between you two is needed, however it shouldn’t be you that initiates it. It should be him.” Quinn spoke, he was also tired of how Trevor was acting but he knew that there was unresolved issues between you two.

You thought about his words for a moment and you almost agreed until you watched Jack get up and walk into the house, leaving Trevor out by the fire alone.

“Fuck it, I’m sick of him so I’ll just be the bigger person.” You sighed, sitting down the drink in your hand and taking a deep breath.

“Good luck baby, yell for me if you need me.” Quinn encouraged with a small kiss to your head.

“Thanks.” You breathed and began your way outside.

The second his eyes met your form Trevor was standing from his seat, however the sternness of your voice stopped him from moving any further.

“Sit down, we need to talk.”

“Why would I want to talk to you?” He scoffed, crossing his arms over his chest.

“Because you won’t stop being a dick and I’m tired of it. So we’re going to have a conversation as adults to figure why you’re so pissed that I’m here.” You explained.

“I’m not pissed that you’re here, I’m pissed that you’re here with him. Just a year ago you were telling Jack how you were in love with me and now you’re dating his brother?.” He spat.

“What’s it your business if Im dating him or not?.” You asked.

“Because, You said you loved me and then went off and got with him!.” He yelled.

You let his words sink in for a minute, what was he trying to say? Did he love you?

“What are you trying to say Trevor?” You asked softly.

“Nothing, just forget about it.” He shook his head.

“No don’t say it’s nothing and go quiet now, the last three weeks you’ve had a lot to say. So speak up and tell me what the hell is going on with you.” You demanded.

“I-I’m not sure okay! Seeing you with him makes my chest hurt, I get so angry when he touches you, or kisses you, hearing him call you nicknames makes my skin crawl. Seeing you be with someone like him makes me realize how badly i screwed up.” He cried.

“So I guess that’s why I’ve been so rude, I was still upset about last summer and I hoped that we could talk things out but then you showed up here, with him and I decided to let my emotions take control.” He continued, his eyes locked on yours.

“So what, you blew up on me for having feelings for you, ignored the texts I sent you for the first two days after, and then when I show up here with Quinn you all of a sudden have feelings for me or something?!” You asked, anger quickly filling your body.

“I don’t know if I have feelings for you but I’ve never felt this way after seeing you with a guy before.” He explained.

“Well now you know how it feels, now you know how shitty I felt when you invited me here just to spent half the nights with random blondes. Now you know how my heart felt when you would be all over me just to take home someone else at the end of the night.” You started.

“It fucking sucks wanting someone that will never want you Trevor, it suck’s when everyone around you gives you pity filled looks when that person is flirting with others in front of you. And now that I finally have someone that doesn’t and would never make me feel the way you have, you all of a sudden want me? Yeah no thanks.” You scoff with a shake of your head.

“Where did your feelings for me go though? They just don’t disappear over night.”

“No trevor they don’t, and it took me a long time to figure out what exactly the feelings I had for you were. I spent nights crying remembering how good things were before you went pro, how you’d make me laugh and always be there for me. But I also sobbed while remembering all the hurtful things you did that I let slide.” You shrugged, eyes filling with tears at the memory.

“What horrible things? Huh? I was always a good friend.” He scoffed.

“Like making me leave my own birthday party in freshmen year because you needed a ride back from some girls, leaving me drunk and alone on multiple occasions just so you could get lucky, leaving me at some restaurant last year because your hookup was horny and then making me cover the bill knowing I just barely had the money, and let’s not forget you making my entire graduation dinner about you.” You shot, eyes locked on his as you recounted just some of the events that he’d made you feel horrible.

“Okay..so maybe I wasn’t the greatest friend.” He shrugged.

“That’s for sure.” You scoffed, moving to take a seat in one of the chairs that circled the fire pit.

There were a few beats of silence between you two before Trevor finally took a seat beside you and spoke up.

“You really don’t feel anything for me anymore?.” He asked softly.

“I think a part of me will always love you but not in the way I love Quinn. I still see you as one of my best friends despite everything, at a point in time you knew every little thing about me and we have a lot of happy memories together but I’m not in love with you anymore.” You replied just as soft.

He smiled at you sadly, “There’s nothing I can do?”

“No Z I’m sorry, you had your chance and instead of being rational you made me leave and treated me differently. I’m sorry you’re just now realizing how you felt for me but I have someone that loves and cherishes me and I really hope you find that someone one day too.” You smiled.

He nodded as he sucked in a shaky breath before standing, “Hug?” He questioned.

You nodded before standing and wrapping your arms around his middle, his hands wrapped tightly around your shoulders.

You couldn’t lie you’d missed Trevor’s hugs, they were always nice but feeling his arms around you didn’t cause the same butterflies they used to and the thought of that made you smile.

He pulled away first his hands patting your shoulders awkwardly before he spoke up once again, “I think I need to go apologize to Quinn.”

You nodded in agreement and told him he was probably in the living room but that you’d be staying outside, you needed a moment to think everything over.

A couple minutes later you heard the doors slide open and a body block your line of sight, looking up you were meant with a smiling Quinn.

“Hi” you breathed.

“Hi honey.” He greeted before motioning you to stand up and taking your place, but pulling you onto his lap seconds later.

“Did he apologize?” You asked once you got comfortable on his lap.

“Yeah, said you made him realize some things.” He replied softly, his large hand running along your arm.

“Yeah.” You breathed leaning further into his touch.

“Wanna talk about it?” He asked politely.

“Tomorrow?”

“Tomorrow is fine by me baby.” He cooed and pulled your body tighter against his as you both watched the fire and bask in each other.

-first of all, the Chromatica tracks are interludes, no singing only instruments playing, now onto Alice, this is about overcoming obstacles no matter how hard they are, looking for wonderland even if you’re not Alice, also this whole song just reminds me of the steampunk aesthetic she wore for one episode in season 2

-silly pop song about wanting someone to love back, in this case, Marley to Jake and Unique to Ryder, this could maybe either happen at Sadie Hawkins or at Wemma’s wedding, both scenarios fit in my head

-this song talks about how there will always be haters in this world, there’s nothing you can do about it, so let them rain on you, this is just what glee was building up on the later seasons with Klaine and Brittana, a lot of people don’t know this, but glee had an enormous place at gay marriage getting legal in the United States, and just how Brittany said, they lost, gay marriage is legal, be homophobe and mad all you want, we’re happy, as a gay man, this interpretation of the song means so much to me

-I think it became a regular thing to give the feminist songs to Quinn, this wouldn’t be any different, it was clear that all of the boys Quinn liked (minus Joe and maybe Puck) where all due to status, once she grew up she realized status and power were not important in her life, neither would a random man be, she’s a free woman now

Fun Tonight sung by Kurt Hummel in season 2

-this song brought me back to season 2, Kurt was definitely depressed there, in performances like Only the Good Die Young everyone is dancing while he is the only one not into it, and this songs talks about that, despite all of the happiness surrounding him he just couldn’t be happy, it wasn’t until he met Blaine that he really became happy again, everyone say thank you Blaine!

-oh wow Emma’s here! I found it hard to chose someone to sing this, considering it’s about having to use pills and medicine, and well, just like Dope in ARTPOP I’m gonna do a different interpretation, in this case, the song would refer to her ocd, and how it affects her brain in an unhealthy way, and how she actually takes medicine to treats it

Plastic Doll sung by Quinn and Rachel in season 1

-this would be an open letter to Finn, while Quinn cheated on him first he still cheated on her as well, while Rachel was obviously hurt from this whole situation, where she wanted him, and so did he, but he chose Quinn instead, they would sing this together saying how they’re not dolls that he can play with

-a song about having to be sweet or you’ll be considered a bitch, who else should sing this if not the two biggest bitches of the glee club? I don’t want to have Tina sing in Korean but she’s the only one that could sing so yeah, she would sing Gaga’s verses and the Korean ones while Kitty would sing Blackpink’s English verses

-I don’t really have a lot to talk here, the song is about being misunderstood but to be honest I only chose Quinn cause I thought her voice would fit her, not much to add

-this song refers to having to overcome traumatic experiences in your life, these 3 went through a lot, Mercedes went through less than the other two but her voice would fit like a glove so she sings as well🙂‍↕️

-I always wanted furt to have a duet once they became brothers, the two of them had to overcome a lot since they were little and that’s exactly what the song talks about, also by the end of the song there’s a huge shift in the song and some crazy drums start playing and that’s Finn Hudson coded

1000 Doves sung by Sam Evans

-this song talks about needing help of others, you can try hard but sometimes we need help, and that’s fine, one of glees best storylines was Sam’s financial problems, the glee club was really supportive in season 2 and season 3, even Blaine who wasn’t fully aware of his condition was worried about him in season 4

Babylon sung by Mercedes and Tina

-this song talks about gossip, obviously the two gossips queens have to sing this, the song also has a few ancient religious references such as the Babel tower and of course, Babylon, and I guess Mercedes would do good with this song

Love Me Right sung by Rachel Berry in late season 3

-she would sing this while confused about whether she would stay at Lima for Finn or go to New York for herself, this would be an open letter from Rachel to Finn, asking if he would still love her even if she went away, the song also talks about Gaga being short and I also wants Rachel to sing this

-he would sing this around the time he join the air forces, I could explain with my own words what this song means but I’ll let Gaga explain, “When you feel lonely, sad, removed from the world, far away from yourself and others. One day you may even be strong enough to hold your own hands.” While he was physically strong he was a very weak person emotionally, and I guess it went worse after Finn’s death, this would be him singing to his best friend, brother and other half

Puck let out a sharp exhale, his hot breath fanning out against her skin. He tried to focus on the sounds of stabbing being blasted through the speakers, but it was an impossible feat with all the moving around Quinn was doing. "Yeah, I know how needy you can get sometimes," he snickered teasingly against the slope of her neck. His hand slid down in between her thighs, grasping one tightly as his thumb slipped under the hem of skirt. He was agonizingly aware of the way his jeans seemed to tighten by the second, and while he tried to shift under her to relieve the throbbing, the friction only seemed to worsen the growing ache. Her words sent a shiver down Puck's spine, and he squeezed her leg instinctively as his other hand rose to move her hair to the side, exposing more skin. "That's the problem, isn't it? You can't scream." His lips brushed against the lower part of her neck, kissing the heated flesh at a slow pace and inhaling the intoxicating scent of her familiar perfume. "I think you'll be fine, though." He trailed wet kisses upwards, fingertips tracing feather light patterns on her inner thigh, which occasionally slipped under her skirt. Finally, his lips reached the space just behind her ear, and he sucked on the skin lightly before pulling back to take a breath. "You've stayed pretty quiet for me in the past. Think you still got it?"

"I wouldn't say I brought you here just for that, but it definitely crossed my mind," he joked. "Guess I'm a sucker for a damsel in distress. And you know damn well you love it." His heart swelled as he took in her wide, bright smile. It'd been a while since he'd seen it, and it was still wildly contagious. He was stoked that she finally seemed to be shaking the fear off, and was relieved that she didn't move away even though she wasn't as scared anymore. The kiss she pulled him into made Puck's brain go fuzzy, and when it was over, he stared back at her with enlarged pupils and a dazed expression. Slowly, his lips lifted into a lazy, lopsided grin. "Mmm, don't ask questions you know the answer to. Get over here." He gently pulled her up onto his lap, arm sliding around her waist. There wasn't really any excuse for that, other than the simplicity of wanting her as close as humanly possible. He tilted his head up, letting his mouth hover over the shell of her ear as his voice turned more gravelly. "Hell, if I knew you were gonna go for that, I would'a picked a more gruesome movie. Remind me to pick somethin' scarier next time, would ya?"

Puck has never thought of himself of a complicated dude. He always had pride in being straight forward with what he wanted and most of the time, went after it. Like himself, damn near everybody in this town had grown up there by the choice of their parents. ‘Cause who in their right mind would pick to live in the shit hole town of Lima, Ohio. Seriously. There was nothing to do there and if you ever found something to do that was remotely intriguing, it was more than likely illegal.

The one thing, no person, that made this place less annoying and worth wild was Quinn. The fact that she just always seemed to be so annoyed with him 25/8 intrigued him and made him fall for her hard. He had been madly in love with every aspect of her since the third grade and anyone that paid attention could notice it. But if you were crazy enough to ask him about it, he’d deny it. She was so out of his league that even he’d be crazy to make that move.

The one person that he ever confessed his feelings to was was his life long best friend, Finn. He knew that Finn was the last person to judge him and actually listen to what he had to say. For years he sat on the side lines and admired Quinn in the most tactful way as possible.

As years went by and they lived their lives separately, he never dreamed he could love another girl that wasn’t Quinn. Kennedy came into his life and showed him that being selfish, impatient and insecure could all be things of the past. She taught him how to love and how to hate. Dating her was always viewed in his eyes as his greatest accomplishment but slowly she became the reason he could never trust another person with his heart again.

To this day he still isn’t sure how his girlfriend and best friend became something and they all became nothing to him. The amount of hate he holds in his heart towards them isn’t healthy. He’s young but he gave everything he had to her and he felt played.

The day he heard the rumors that Finn dumped her for someone else was arguable the best day he had had since the break up. That was until he found out it was Quinn he was involved with now. He wasn’t sure which time his ex friend screwed him over hurt worse but they both hurt just the same.

That whole situation ruined love for him. Ruined his ability to trust in people. But it’s not like anyone cared anyway. Nobody understands what he went through. After all, the whole situation made him a quite popular punch line in a lot of jokes.

Glee Musical Retrospective: Lean On Me (Ballad)

Sung by: Artie Abrams and Mercedes Jones feat. New Directions Original Artist(s): Bill Withers

You know how the song Ironic doesn't actually contain any irony? Or how the episode Mash Up didn't have any actual Mash Ups in it? Well - I suppose now's a good time to explain that the episode Ballad doesn't actually contain any ballads.

Ballad definition: a poem or song narrating a story in short stanzas. Traditional ballads are typically of unknown authorship, having been passed on orally from one generation to the next as part of the folk culture.

Though, you can also claim it's a slow, often romantic pop song. Which... I'd argue a majority of the songs in this episode aren't that, either. But I digress... I really just didn't have a better way to open this one up.

Story Analysis

I'm going to start by throwing out there that this was Mercedes' idea. She finds out that Puck is the father, but does she gossip that around? She does not. Instead - she probably hears that Quinn (who up to this point has been a terrible person to her) has been thrown out. And what does Mercedes to? She gets everyone together to sing a song of friendship and encouragement. I just don't think Mercedes gets enough credit sometimes - and it's a nice gesture from her to support people whom she may not even consider friends in their time of need.

The whole sentiment of the song is about friendship and about being there when someone else in need. The lyrics are pretty straightforward (Glee a lot of the times pushes in hard when it wants to make a point) but the thing I like the most about it is the fact that there isn't a romantic element to the song. It's truly about being there for someone in their time of need.

And I feel like this is another one of those songs that hits at the heart of what the show was trying to go for. Yes - this song is meant for Finn and Quinn -- a way for the Glee club to say they're there for their friends. But it's also the show saying that a club like this is a way to have a social group that you can depend on, even if you feel like an outsider in life.

Finn and Quinn seem to appreciate the gesture, too. And it's nice to see Quinn have a moment of acceptance of these people whom she's spent so long hating against.

There really isn't a whole lot else going on, but I have a few smaller things to mention.

Of course there's the smaller, and uncomfortable, moment between Kurt and Finn during the 'call me' stuff. It's supposed to be a little comedic beat, but ooff, no. Kurt's kind of caught up in a fantasy that he and Finn bonded over this.

There's the shared look between Puck and Quinn - and the subtle acknowledgement that Quinn has feelings for him.

Rachel is oddly chill about all the Finn and Quinn love. Honestly, everyone seems rather happy to be there - and I have to wonder if there is some slight actor bleed going on - as everyone seems a little too happy to be hanging around on each other.

Towards the end, a bunch of the cast literally start leaning on each other. Nice touch, lol.

Technical Thoughts

It's the second episode in a row where Mercedes and Artie, both of whom really didn't have a story line, get a duet together. For story reasons - it can't go to most of the other people in the episode. But, I want to also argue that Amber and Kevin have remarkably strong voices together. It's a combination we're going to see a lot of because of it.

This is one of the first times I can really hear the actors' voices on the recorded background (Naya's voice can really be heard.) But, as usual, the show has, like, tripled the tracks making it seem like there are a lot more than eight other people singing backup.

I feel like we should have a counter as to how many times Mercedes hits that high note at the end. I'm sure she's already done it...

Fun Fact: Jenna Ushkowitz and Kevin McHale explained that Tina's adlibs were placed in the song because Kevin had trouble performing them the way the music producers wanted. (as per their podcast Showmance. I'm hoping their new podcast will allow me to sprinkle in more facts like this.)

Glee Live

Since I didn't have a whole lot to say about this one, I'm throwing in a few extra things. First of all -- I need to clear up a myth. This is NOT Darren's audition for Glee. During the first season, I believe Glee did a thing where they wanted people to send in tapes (or something - it's all fuzzy now), which is what inspired this video. But it's not what led to Darren getting Blaine.

So - this is a fresh faced (shaggy haired) young Darren. And I'm so fascinated by this. First of all - the recording is terrible. Was he using his phone?? Anyway, the thing about Darren is that he is a gifted performer, but maybe not flawless with his vocal technique. You notice how he's doing a lot of trills on his notes? That's not just a stylistic choice. It's because he's having a hard time staying on the pitch - so if he moves it around a bunch, he can hide some of his weakness. It's clever. And Darren's charming enough in his physical performance to distract you from vocal imperfections.

Also - two key changes Darren? Lol...

So - we were somewhat robbed from Blaine and Mercedes's duets during the show's run, so here's Amber and Darren singing the same song years and years later. And omg, this is just gorgeous. Both of their voices have matured and grown. The harmonies on this are beautiful. Everything about this is beautiful.

vs. The Studio Version: The studio version has a longer introduction and the inclusion of the second verse. And as usual - it's a cleaner track. That's about it. It's a great song, but not a whole lot to say about it.

vs. The Original Version: Wow - the original version is way slower. And is much more relaxed in nature. Glee did have a tendency to speed up its versions of songs -- which I gathered was often due to the time constraints of television. But it makes me wonder - was Glee's frantic pace due the necessity of fitting a lot of things into one place? Or was just that the nature of the song?

Also - we finally get a departure from the original arrangement. The backup vocals in Glee are used in place of the piano.

-I’m 70% confident Kevin mentioned they were going to sing this in a mash-up with Dj Got Us Fallin’ in Love, Puck and Sam’s country voices worked a lot in Friday so I think they would do something interesting with Just Dance, maybe not something everyone would like but I’m ver curious about it, no doubts Artie would slay the rapping.

-I absolutely hate Poker Face gcv, it’s terrible, and the worse part: it’s sung by Lea and Idina, they are SO GOOD, and they would do such a good job, anyways, if they still wanted to do something slower and more broadway-y I think Paparazzi would be the fit, the song is very dramatic after all.

-I believe she could’ve sung this after Sam broke up with her and started dating Santana, the song is very slow, kind of like a ballad so I think it would fit Quinn’s more softer voice.

-this could take place later in season 3 or in season 4 if they created a storyline where Sugar could sing, while not being the best singer, Vanessa Lengies can sing, and if I’m being honest, beautiful, dirty and rich describes Sugar very well.

The Fame sung by Blaine Anderson with the Warblers in season 2

-one of the infinite season 2 Blaine solos, not the biggest fan of acapella music but the warblers do it decently and I can almost listen to the warblers doing some “ding-ding-dee” in replace of the guitar in the beginning of the song.

Money Honey sung by Brittany, Kitty, Marley, Sugar, Tina and Unique in “Naked”

-the original episode focuses a lot on Rachel and the glee boys, honestly I don’t even remember if Brittany or Marley have lines this episode, either way, Wannabe and I Love It are very good and fun numbers so I’d love to see them perform this, I’d specially like to see Sugar singing the line “That's M-O-N-E-why so sexy?”.

-honestly I can’t exactly picture a scene where this could happen, maaaybe a karaoke sort of scene where both of them are singing? I don’t know, all I know is that Gaga in this song sounds a lot like Heather Morris to me.

Boys Boys Boys sung by Kurt Hummel in late season 2

-Kurt is hot, that’s true, he’s attractive, and even if a lot of guys weren’t romantically or sexually attracted to him, all of them liked Kurt, and Kurt deserved a song to show how awesome he was, this is it, instead of singing “Boys, Boys, Boys, we love them” as in Kurt’s attraction towards men, it would be “Boys, Boys, Boys, we love them” as in all of the boys happy that the awesome Kurt is back, and of course Kurt would be the only one actually singing, that’s Kurt “I’m singing a duet with the most talented person in the club … myself” Hummel after all.

-unlike the previous description which in normal size characters was 11 lines long, I have no idea where or how this would take place, all I say is: their voices fit the song, specially Quinn’s.

-I actually wanted Tina to sing this as her ballads are very good, but re-reading the lyrics (as well as literally the title of the song) Mike would be the perfect choice lyrics wise, brown eyes being Tina’s insecurity is so random but it’s an characteristic of her that I like, we never got an answer on why they broke up, it’s something I wanted to know very bad cause they seemed to be a very understanding couple regarding problems, and on top of that, just give Mike songs, seriously his last song was in season 4 episode 8, he appears in 10 episodes after this and not even a line in a group number? C’mon.

I Like It Rough sung by Santana Lopez in “Laryngitis”

-I can totally picture her singing this to Puck in the glee club, he would be smirking since the song is mildly dirty which would make Mercedes jealous and therefore would give birth to The Boy is Mine, this would also be her first solo on the show so.

Summerboy sung by Mercedes Jones in “Yes/No”

-this is the pov of Mercedes in their summer fling, she fell in love in the summer with this summer boy and how everything was fantastic, and just like many girls, she knew it would be nothing more than a summer thing, she didn’t know however that the summer boy would be a 6 foot tall men as clingy as a little boy named Sam Evans

Disco Heaven sung by Brittany, Mercedes and Santana in season 3

-In my original thread I wrote this as a sancedes duet in laryngitis, and… it doesn’t make a lot of sense, their voices would do a good job but lyric wise it doesn’t relate? Personally, throw Brittany in the mix as a Trouble Tones number and boom, maybe this could take place in an alternate Saturday night glee-ver where after Mr Schue ask why they chose this song over any other from the movie Brittany would say: “I chose this cause I want to go to disco Heaven when I die not disco inferno”.

Back to the song, this could take place when Marley is suspecting that Jake might be cheating on her, music could end with idk Unique and Kitty hugging her.

Obviously because Lea Michele is Fanny they’re gonna do a reboot of Glee, so here’s my pitch to Ryan Murphy for an episode (assuming that the cast is what it was seasons 1-3):

It is September 1st, 2021, and it’s the first day back at McKinley High since the pandemic started. Since everybody’s been double vaccinated, nobody has to wear a mask, but Mr. Schue is having some difficulty convincing Emma to go back in public because she doesn’t want to get sick from COVID germs. He wants to convince her that everybody’s going to wash their hands a lot, so…

The Glee club meets in the choir room, and Mr. Schue’s first assignment back is for everyone to come in with their best hand washing song that fulfills COVID safety guidelines, and the group will vote mid-week about which one to perform for the end of the week’s post-COVID safety pep rally. Blaine then cheerily leads the Glee club in “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair” by The Weather Girls.

The episode then turns to uncovering and consequently dealing with the drama that went down during quarantine. After a couple of months of quarantine, Finn broke up with Rachel because he couldn’t handle the “long distance.” They have a conversation in which Rachel begs him to get back together with her, but then Finn’s phone dings with a flirty text from Quinn. Finn then tells Rachel that apparently Quinn got COVID during quarantine and asked Finn to take care of her because Puck cheated on her again with a girl at his synagogue and her mom was spending quarantine in the Galapagos. During that time they got really close and now they’re trying to date again. Rachel storms out, crying, and obviously sings “Driver’s License” by Olivia Rodrigo (in which Quinn is the “blonde girl”).

Tina and Mike also broke up during COVID mostly because their parents didn’t allow them to see each other. This life event inspired Tina to change her aesthetic. Now, instead of being goth, emo, or vaguely retro, she is #cottagecore and absolutely obsessed with Taylor Swift. She and Mercedes start a petition to change the name of the school to McKinley High (Taylor’s Version). The school goes completely haywire making this proposal, with rallies, demonstrations, etc. Sue eventually gets so pissed off that she breaks this apart, yells at everyone, storms into the choir room, destroys some stuff, and then back in her office contemplates if she could kill the glee club and get away with it with “no body, no crime” by Taylor Swift (feat. HAIM).

How do you headcanon Quinn figuring out brittana were a thing?

Ohh good question.

So like for pretty much everyone else in the Glee Club I think it's a process rather than one moment in particular. I think Brittana started their making out party trick end of freshman year and Quinn rolled her eyes, given her upbringing and how carefully she cultivated her own reputation. Then during the summer and beginning of sophomore year they continued and amped it up and maybe Quinn chewed Santana over it, told her they were all supposed to be in Celibacy Club and all. Santana called her a stuck-up bitch and pointed out that Quinn was pretty much the only virgin in Celibacy Club. Plus, Santana reasoned, it got guys super worked up and increased their overall popularity. Quinn raised an eyebrow over why Brittana felt the need to do it so frequently but she accepted that the innocent church girl was her look, not her friends'.

I also think she was irrationally grumpy about it on a lot of days but she internalized all that instead of giving it a voice like Santana would have. By 'irrationally' I mean that Quinn didn't quite know why it bothered her, because despite her upbringing she wasn't approaching it from a homophobic perspective nor did she think it was anything too serious. She did realize sooner than perhaps Brittana themselves that it went deeper than a party trick, though, and that's what bothered her closeted ass. But then everything with Puck and Finn and the pregnancy happened and she had other things to worry about. After all that she could also rationalize her envy of Brittana as them still being cheerleaders instead of, ya know.

In junior year Quinn was mostly busy trying to pretend sophomore year didn't happen and having her rivalry for the Alpha Bitch position with Santana. I think she might have caught Brittana glances in the locker room, lingering touches, generally the two of them being, well, Brittana. Quinn had her suspicions that this really was something deeper than what started as a joke in freshman year but once again she had other stuff to think about. That was, until Landslide happened and she knew beyond the shadow of a doubt. She'd known earlier but that was when she knew, you know? When she realized it wasn't a joke or a phase or anything of the sort. And I have a Quinntana scene in mind that I wish had happened here, more on that in another ask.

In my mind Quinn tried to talk to Santana about it (because it was Santana who started crying, Santana who was like a ghost of herself afterward, Santana whom she'd been having a rivalry with) but it didn't go well, exactly. So Quinn knew but unlike certain people she was smart enough to know it wasn't her business, and she was also busy with her life falling apart as everything that had happened caught up with her and she had her mental breakdown. Then beginning of senior year she was once again busy with her own shit, but nonetheless she was pissed off when she heard about The Outing. I'd like to think that even though she had other things going and she never had The Talk with Brittana, she went feral whenever a creep approached Santana in the hallway or was any kind of shitty to Brittany.

So like I say it was a process and I have to factor in the myriad of things Quinn had going on in her own life. I think she initially had issues but that was all about image and her own repressed feelings, and once she realized Brittana's feelings went deeper for each other she was rooting for them to make it. With Quinn it's complicated ya know, because she does have her own issues (girl is not straight herself idc that it's never outright said on Glee) and I'm sure gay people in general were not looked upon kindly in the Fabray house. On top of that, Quinn feeling excluded because of Brittana's connection, maybe holding a bit of resentment because of that even though she does want them to be happy. And it being this long process until she's finally 100% sure it's the real deal and her friends are in love, and even then the journey until they're an official public couple. Quinn's in a unique position for all of it, both because of who she is and who Brittana are to her. Which is friends, btw. #UnholyTrinityWasReal
