wada sez: Here’s another take on Animated Punch/Counterpunch, unrelated to the previous strip “Loyalty”. On deviantART, Lunsford said: “I wasn't really trying to make a point with this one. I just wanted to write a fun story about Megatron's fanatisicm, and maybe show how Animated Megatron differs from other incarnations of Megatron. Adding Punch in and showing what he might be like in Animated was just a fun bonus.” Lugnut is seen ready to hit Punch with his own Punch of Kill Everything.

Hmm, potential options for those sent by Shockwave:

Blurr. I love TFA Blurr and have a soft spot for ShockBlurr plus he trusts Longarm entirely given he had the Decepticons are invading news and still went to him first instead of calling up the Magnus/Leadership despite Shockwave being out of the way at the Space Bridge. Or, at least, that's my interpretation.

Doubledealer, always fun to use less well-known characters and fun tie in to other characters if needed.

Punch/Counterpunch, works for both Decepticons and Autobots and is an interesting unused character.

Jazz, who apparently was a spy for Longarm before getting promoted to Elite Guard/Sentinel Babysitter. Plus it's Jazz.

Rosanna/Flip Sides, a contact who could get them in as a preform and seemingly unknown if she's playing Autobot or Decepticon.

Or maybe a mix. Like some combination of the others sent by Longarm and Rosanna getting them in or something. Thoughts?

OK SO AU DUMP TIME

The AU itself focuses on Fireteam Zero, an Autobot black ops team who operates under the guise of being members of the “Diplomatic Corps” like in IDW. The team consists of:

Getaway: Team leader. Charismatic and charming, but also wildly manipulative, even regarding his friends and allies. Can escape anything and is a master lockpick.

Punch/Counterpunch: Somber and paranoid. Has seen some awful things in his time as a double agent, and it festers in his mind.

Tracks: Total snob who hates to get his hands dirty. Tends to look down on the more “brutish and simple” types. Often says the wrong thing and offends without meaning to.

Nightbird: Quiet and stoic ex-Decepticon. Expert in stealth and incredibly skilled with any type of bladed weapon. Doesn’t like to talk about her past.

Nat: Laid-back and fun-loving, but sometimes hotheaded. Always feels like they’re being underestimated. Worked as a tattoo artist apprentice on Earth until the Decepticons invaded, and was subsequently rescued by Fireteam Zero, and was inducted into the team after they realized they had use as a scout. They now travel with them, aiding them on their missions in the hope that they can help turn the tide of the war and eventually return home to Earth.

That’s all I got so far but I will be posting more art and headcanons soon!

decepticons editing wikipedia bc why not. may be a little jargony. probs will seem like a weird selection of decepticons bc im New Here and don’t have strong opinions on everyone. assuming they also have their own articles bc the giant space robots will be notable somehow i dont think thats an argument

megatron: argues on autobot talk pages with the seeming sole purpose of increasing the word count on their controversies. not bold so he spends more time in the talkpages than on the actual pages. he refuses to assume good faith but he manages to scrape by. will probably get banned one day but he’s still kicking. someone link him WP:BATTLE i beg

starscream: vandalizes so hard the pages for him and megatron both had to be extended confirmed-protected because he was vandalizing too hard and has never heard of neutral point of view. between the vandalism sprees are genuinely helpful edits to pages about science and weaponry because that wrong information bothers him. after sockpuppeting stopped working he resorted to meatpuppetry--using his position to get other decepticons to edit. he’s still at it and is becoming infamous.

soundwave: minor edits eliminating typos, helpful if small edits, does occassionally back up megatron in arguments, though usually he minds his own business. gets falsely banned because one of the cassettes kept vandalizing using his account. nobody knows who. somehow not even him.

shockwave: actually helpful information and very bold, often making sweeping changes. he purposefully avoids decepticon pages bc he knows he couldn’t resist breaking npov. follows rules okay but often too much detail and jargon and assuming he needs to cite less than he really does. total inclusionist.

swindle: BUY MY STUFF-*BANNED*

counterpunch because lol obscure fave why not: banned for not disclosing the sockpuppets he has for editing as punch and counterpunch. how a wikipedia admin knows about his double life is beyond him. idk what he’d edit but he always overthinks which account he should do it with

I draw a pen doodle every day until I forget day 45: CounterPunch (Transformers Generation 1)

Today’s drawing is the Autobot James Bond, Punch/Counterpunch, and boy, does he make me feel things. I read his prose story the old collector’s club put out, the one about fighting between his two personalities. It made me feel so bad for the guy. Whoever he is. Imagine having to fight against yourself every day, pushing down major urges to hurt anyone/everyone close to you. That image stayed with me, so I decided to try to draw it.

I don’t know what came over me, but I decided to have counterpunch be the dominant side, beating up several mental versions of punch. Poor punch…

wada sez: I think basically everyone who’s ever looked at the Punch/Counterpunch toy has had exactly the same idea: what if Counterpunch’s personality was, for some definition of the word, “real”? Anyway, is that Fastlane or Cloudraker? Science cannot conclusively decide. They’re associated with Punch due to their conceptually-related gimmick and their interactions in “The Rebirth, Part 1″.

As per usual for the Gen Selects figures the star chart doesn’t need any decoding.

Barricade:

The TL;DR on Barricade is...well if you already own Earthrise Prowl, Bluestreak, and/or Smokescreen you already know what you’re getting. 

Vehicle Mode:

Vehicle mode is a police car with matte black plastic and some gray and white paint, and a bold Decepticon badge on the hood. 

I love this vehicle mode, if I had one complaint I would have liked Barricade’s motto of “To Punish and Enslave” from the Bayformers movie.

Otherwise I’m liking this police cruiser mode.

Comparing Earthrise Barricade to the Siege version, the ER toy is definitely the superior vehicle mode. 

Robot Mode:

Barricade’s robot mode is  basically a gray-scaled Smokescreen.

Punch/Counterpunch:

Punch/Counterpunch is a reissue of the Power Of the Primes Generation Selects version, minus the combiner hands.

Since I never owned the POTP version that was one of the deciding factors in getting this set. 

The whole idea of Punch/Counterpunch is that he has one vehicle mode, but two robot modes, almost like a triple changer, I suppose.

Punch is his Autobot mode, and Counterpunch is his Decepticon mode, you see Punch is a spy working for the Autobots going undercover as a Decepticon...we hope...

Vehicle Mode:

The vehicle mode is a blue sports car. I like the angular front end section, and the yellow painted strip along the bottom.

Comparing the Earthrise version to his original G1 toy you can see the G1 toy a little bigger, and a more dull blue.

Autobot Mode:

Autobot mode still has a lot of the blue of the car while the core of the body is a yellow.

He’s got a black helmet with a silver mask, and a small pistol.

Decepticon Mode:

Counterpunch, the Decepticon mode is pretty much the flipside of the robot mode.

The helmet portion flips to cover the Autobot face, and the main body is pretty much the roof of the car, and mostly blue with some touches of yellow.

Final Thoughts:

I like Earthrise Barricade well enough. The toy stands well, I dig the colors, my only issue with it is that he’s got Smokescreen’s face. I would have preferred some G1 variant of his Bayformers looks. I know Hasbro could have pulled it off, but they just chose to go the cheap route; I think they should have brought something fresh to the table.  

Punch/Counterpunch is a fun toy. It’s doesn’t entirely fit the ‘War For Cybertron’ aesthetic, engineering-wise.
