madoka magica is one of the most beautiful things ive ever watched in my entire life. and it not because of the dark or scary undertones. (mind any misspellings)

The themes of hope, of breaking your fate is genuinely beautiful to me. Think about our society currently. Our governments are faceless bodies commanded by a dollar, no emotions, no care, no connection to true humanity, just an endless march for resources that isn't afraid to hurt, kill, and crush anyone in the way of that, especially the vulnerable. Kyube is similar. He gathered up hundreds (possibly thousands if you consider other places than japan) of vulnerable people, tricked them into making a deal while purposely biting their tongue and twisting human desires to gain more energy for the universe. Of course this isn't a one to one, but kyube definitely has the mindset that capitalists do, they attempt to water down individual lives that exist now for the possible, uncertain future. He and along with his planet understands the fact that humanity's days are numbered, especially with chasing after madoka specifically. He knows humanity will die when madoka becomes a witch and he doesn't care and will pretend like there will be something after he's done.

Madoka looked at everything, saw a world she didn't like, saw the pain of her fellow magical girls and found a way out. It's not perfect, no overhaul of any system will be perfect and she doesn't even get to enjoy the fruits of her labor, in fact she confronts the rotten, vileness of everything every minute, and takes it on herself so everyone else doesn't have to be in pain, but she overhauled it. Magical girls aren't forced to be livestock, to suffer endlessly for something their earth will never partake in. madoka turned this hopeless profession, doomed to suffering and made it worth dying for. Magical girls went from livestock to heroes. The way they become that way is still fishy and isn't perfect but they have dignity now.

i think any activist should aspire to be madoka, to embody her and her traits. To change this world we must be selfless and we must have hope.

Ramone, the Punk Witch

Ramone, the punk witch/witch of punk with a misconstrued nature. The witch's barrier is an underground venue-like labyrinth decorated with punk memorabilia. Many punk rock familiar mosh around. Many believe Ramone is a vicious witch that is heartless, and that it eats and sacrifices humans on the daily, but it all it wants to do is sing for those who to listen. It vents the anger that comes from those misunderstanding into powerful songs that move the body.

Jeremy being really messy at the Boarding House and Damon gets annoyed and starts yelling at him to clean up and Jeremy just rolls his eyes and gives him a sassy 'yes mother' and Damon’s just like 'yes I am your mother now clean your fucking room.'

(s5) Damon flopped onto the couch beside Jeremy, looking at the kid with a resigned sort of curiosity. “Ok, spill.” “Huh?” Jeremy startled, flicking a glance towards the open archway leading to the front hall, a move that did not slip Damon’s notice. “Relax. Elena’s gone off to wherever with Blondie. So take a breath and just spit it out. What’s got you acting so weird?” “I’m not acting weird,” Jeremy immediately denied. The vampire scoffed. “Nice try, but somehow, you’re an even worse liar than Stefan.” Jeremy crossed his arms with a huff. “I’m not acting weird, okay? Just drop it!” Damon brought a leg up from where he was sprawled, and jabbed Jeremy in the thigh with his foot. Repeatedly. “You’re sad.” Damon guessed. “Confused… and conflicted, more than slightly intimidated by my awesomeness, and there’s a teensy bit of shame hiding in that guilty little furrowed brow of yours. Oh my god.” He sat up straight, gasping in mock realisation. “Is this a sexuality crisis? Do I need to give you the gay sex talk? Because honestly, that would explain so—“ “What? No! It’s not… That’s- I’m…” Damon raised an eyebrow, clearly indicating for the boy to continue. “I’m not going through a sexuality crisis, or whatever. I’m fine, okay?” Jeremy sighed, silently willing for Damon to leave him alone. Bonnie wasn’t any support, either. All she had done was laugh at him from her spot on Damon’s oh-so sacred reading chair. “Right….” Damon drawled sceptically.

“I don’t know if this is just another one of those ‘coming back from the dead’ things or not, but you definitely weren’t this level of weird the last time Bonica Magica resurrected your punk ass. Are you seeing more ghosts or something? Oh god, is it Kol— is Kol your own personal poltergeist? Damn, that would suck. Tell him to go fuck off to Louisiana, would you? He can go rattle his chains at Marcel or what—“ “I am not being haunted by Kol, Damon.”

Damon Salvatore, big bad vampire, just kissed Jeremy, on the forehead, showing affection for someone of his own free will —— completely out of nowhere!Damon scowled. “Don’t make it weird.” It wasn’t— It was an accident, okay? Sometimes, the kid reminded him a little too much of himself as a human. Other times, all he saw was Stefan. It would be enough to mess with anyone’s brain. He was acting on instinct!

umbra de mancy / magica = basically the same character / fills the same role as in dt17. wanted her to have an Evil Magical Girl look to spite lena's sorceress outfit.

luna de mancy / lena = also mostly the same character. wanted to lean more into what punk style she already had. i love her arc in dt17, but here she reclaims her shadow magic + never has to reconnect with umbra ever. both she and umbra are ruddy ducks

sunny vanderduck / webby = shares an arc with cherry(huey), and while she still has the same role of having luna realize she deserves to have a good life and isn't a bad person, luna helps her realize that valerie(beakley) isn't the best guardian either...

twilight costa / violet = meets luna + sunny earlier on. outwardly she's mostly the same, but she struggles with feeling connected with other communities. american culture and her heritage, being too weird to one of the smart kids, and too smart to be one of the weird kids, being outcased from the rest of the [junior woodchucks]. but once she finds her place with luna, sunny, and cherry, she opens up her silly side more :)

oliver oca / gladstone: despite getting people to be around him with his luck, he knew he was still alone. never really seeing a point in trying to do things, when he knew his luck would handle it for him. his passivity worsens after the casino, where his efforts didn't help him get out. luckily, someone is looking to fix him... (post-development design. spoilers! he loses his luck. mainly connected to the rest of team magic through umbra, luna, and Rorschach Specter]

Lena was pulled from Magica's shadow when the sorceress - missing having anyone to talk to while out in the world now that her brother is incapable of conversation - decided to do something about her loneliness, and took a page from Scrooge's book. Magica is Magica though, and wasn't ever going to entertain a gross little toddler, so she makes Lena 15 years old from creation as in canon. Lena leans heavily into her punk aesthetic in this universe, heavy eye makeup and dyed hair and piercings. And she and Magica are stuck in a perpetual loop of back-and-forth banter, gripes and misdemeanors, somehow just barely managing to be a functional unit while on the sorceress's magical errands. Altogether they act a lot like a cranky, hungover parent dragging their moody, apathetic teen out of their gloomy bedroom "for their own good" even though neither of them want to be doing this. There's a lot of "UUUGH"ing and zero traditional affection. It works for them.

Violet isn't changed much, either, simply leaning her bookish and magic-fascinated ways more towards cultist rituals and the eldritch. She's a normal, non-expressive girl with a dark hobby. Nonetheless, she is QUITE taken aback by the deranged nature of Webby and the McDucks at first. She takes her research very seriously, but it hits her quite unexpectedly that she didn't fully GET what her special interest was getting her into until she met Webby and learned it the hard way. That's not to say Violet gives up, she never would. She wants to learn more about forces beyond her understanding and gladly stays friends with Webby. The McDuck lifestyle just... takes more getting used to than she anticipated.

Gosalyn follows this universe's Darkwing's example and takes on a more brutish brute force method of vigilante justice. Gosalyn is a wannabe brawler, too young and inexperienced to be a force true villains would reckon with, but certainly someone other kids try to avoid. When Darkwing takes her in he has to help her focus her fighting on more than beating up bullies on the basketball court with her hockey stick. She's not too fussed about where her hockey stick lands, so long as it's on someone that deserves it.

Cause of Witchification: Having been raised by a cruel father who only expected the best of the best from him, Guzma's life was subjected to immense amounts of pressure no matter where he turned to. Despite giving it his all, he even ended up failing the island challenge, and was not deemed to be suitable enough to become a trial captain; finally causing him to crack and denounce the traditions of Alola before running off and burning whatever bridges he had left.

Almost inevitably, he ended up becoming the leader of a group of hooligans known as Team Skull; banding together to tear apart the island challenge that has failed them.
