He's got such a strong personality and his rivalry with Juniper because they're both actors is such a fun twist! And that's not even touching on his other OC's, I Want To Punt Them! /pos

@/lavalampstealer has a super unique, silhouette style that I absolutely live for! They were a major art inspiration of mine and I get so excited whenever they're back in the fandom! I may or may not have stolen their idea of Kinesium making the agents glow (if I recall right?) and all around Cyan showing up on my dash always delights me!

@/neurotonic has such a strong artstyle with sharp shapes and bright colors and HOW ARE YOU SO CREATIVE??? Every art piece that comes from her is so neat, the body language, the expressions, I could ramble forever about how cool his art alone is, and then the OC's??? God tier, wanna be friends Black Mamba but I know they'd probs kill me.

@/an-asexual-idiot is another really cool artist that I'm always excited to see from! She's making the jump from Insta to Tumblr, so her blog's a bit empty, but her work is always so polished and detailed and I love seeing Gibson getting the attention he deserves. I am amazed by her backgrounds and would commit crimes to draw Juniper half as well as she does.

@/definitelyunhingedagentphoenix has hilarious incorrect quotes compilations that are always just the right amount of feral and is always feeding back into the fandom whenever I see their posts! It's a delight to see a string of them RPing out Phoenix getting into a problem or needing a loving family based on one meme post!

@/wyvchard is an awesome writer who does some pretty fun, pretty painful works! I'm living for their interpretation of Radio Host Phoenix, and their angst just hits different ngl- I've also gotten some of my favorite comments on Ao3 from them, they always put so much thought into them and make my work feel so appreciated in such a genuine way!

@/purplebehittindifferent AGH her COMICS. They're so pretty, they always melt my heart, and I am just thrilled to see them on my dash! But I also really like basically all of Zor's dialogue in KBOOM. "Ah, the creator and her creation working together..." "So you fooled Prism into believing in you... Zor just scares me and I love them for it. The slightly patronizing edge, the condescension, the amusement. Zor feels so in control the whole time, and when they lose that control their mask only ever so slightly slips.

why is ai scraping such a big deal? it's art/writing theft on a massive scale to ultimately make a blander, loveless product from fanwork. plagarism is rampant because of how unmonitored ai scraping is, especially now that bots like chatgpt that use common crawl are confirmed to use ao3 and other fanfic sites as sources. some fans also frown on ai-written fanwork because it's being passed off as completely original work from a human when it's actually a regurgitation of prewritten ideas. there's a lot of reading to do on the subject especially in fan communities such as tumblr/twitter/reddit/etc. send me an ask/message if you want me to elaborate

Those of you who have been to my main blog in the past year or so might recognize these familiar faces. The little girl is Karin Fjellvik, a character from the game “My Child Lebensborn” (I call it “MCL” for short), and the woman is Karita Omdahl, my MCL fan character/self-insert and Karin’s adoptive mother. I’ve made a few posts about them both on my main blog as well as my sideblog which specifically focuses on my OC x canon relationships, so take a gander if you’d like to read more about them! 

I’ll probably mention a bit of the game as I talk about them in this post, so minor spoilers ahead!! Also, fair warning if you do decide to check out the actual game for yourself: it’s based on real historical events (specifically having to do with the end of World War 2) and involves prejudice/racism and violence towards a child (among other things). Needless to say, it’s quite emotional, and let’s just say that by the end of my play-through, I wanted to punt quite a few people into the shadow realm because of what they did to my poor daughter. 😭

While MCL was originally set during the aftermath of World War 2, I imagine my sims counterparts live in the modern day. Funnily enough, the developers of MCL are currently working on a sequel which will take place in a more modern setting! I would think the sims versions of Karin and Karita moved to this new place in Willow Creek after they’d gone through similar events that happened in the original game. All they wanted to do was to just... get away from their old town, from Karin’s old school, from everything their cruel neighbors had done to them.

Karin and Karita would start their new lives in this modest but pretty one-story home with a small outdoor area for the two to sit and for Karin to play. In the game, you happen to make contact with Karin (or her male counterpart Klaus)’s biological father, who wires you money to help you move out of town. I imagine Karita used much of that money to pay off this new house. They started with only $200 in simoleons, which was a nod to how you would start off with 200 coins (? - dollars? Or whatever they used in Norway during that time? I don’t think the game actually specified what that actual currency was lmao) in the original game.

As money is tight in their household, Karita knows they’ll need it only for the most important items, and she’s made sure Karin knows that. There are times where Karin wishes she had the newest toys or clothes like the other kids have, and she’ll get upset when she can’t have them. Karita promises she’ll buy them one day for her, just not today. After all, it’s better to be selfless than selfish. Karin recently received a whole mini art studio set for her birthday, and she LOVES it! She plans to create lots of artwork to display in her room, and she even uses it occasionally in the middle of the night when she can’t sleep. She even says she hopes to help her mother earn money by selling her best artwork. 🥰

On certain days of the week, Karita works as a manual laborer as a way to bring in some stable income (I thought this was the closest to some kind of factory work, which is your/the parent’s job in MCL). The catch to this, though, is that she currently works during the weekend, which means Karin is left at home alone in the morning. :( Karita knows how much her daughter hates being by herself, so once she returns home from work, she makes sure they spend plenty of quality of time together. Their favorite activities include fishing (they can catch something to eat or Karin asks to keep one as a little pet), reading books, drawing pictures, cooking, and watching television.

See the little fish next to the television? Karin caught it and wanted to save it from being eaten!

Other than Karin’s idea to sell some of her artwork in the future, the two also already have creative ways to earn extra money on the side (or when they really need money fast). For one, Karita happens to enjoy gardening and has made a habit of exploring her neighborhood and harvesting wild plants to grow around their home. She may keep some to use as fresh ingredients/food, but most of the time, she’ll sell them when they’re fully grown.

Being experienced in manual labor, Karita isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty by digging for things as well. She’ll sell the majority of her finds along with things she catches through fishing.

Karin is also a keen explorer and likes to look for frogs. She’ll keep them as pets, too, but once she catches a new one, she knows she’ll have to sell the old one since multiple frogs is... kind of a lot to deal with in such a small home, lol.

So that’s basically how a typical day would go for Karin and Karita! Karin goes to school during the week, of course, and since Karita doesn’t work on weekdays, she’ll usually spend those days building her skills and doing the many things she’s already come up with to earn extra money.

Currently, Karita is hoping to save up for some renovations, including expanding the interior of their home so she will able to build a little writing studio! She wishes to write about her and Karin’s experiences and to send a message to the world to be kind to each other - something among those lines.

I like playing wholesome families like this, and I think the added challenge of reduced funds not only ties into the original game where the characters came from, but it also makes playing this household a lot more fun and interesting.

Oh, I forgot to mention, guess who came by their household while I was taking screenshots of them for this post?

Okay so- mistakes may had been made :'D

In the sense of I may end up slipping in another interest/fandom- tbf I don't see myself fully joining cause I'm still stuck in bakugan atm, but idk for how long (but even then I'm sure it will hit me back again, these stage don't fully leave, they hit back later on)

Anyways, recently I've got in my recommended videos about Happy Tree Friends and ended up watching the shorts on YouTube.

On one hand, I love the cute art style and characters... on the other, for those who don't know, Happy Tree Friends isn't a show made for kids. Despite it's cute appearance it's pretty much a gore fest (and I'm not that good on heavy gore).

I may draw some of the characters from time to time and post on here, mainly cause, again, the characters are cute, and I enjoy drawing cute animal characters (like, I literally have a bakugan AU where I turn the cast into cats, cure critters is like, one of my quirks/signature traits of my style).

And well, I did sketch some things- (including a silly crossover thing with bakugan since, brain's thinking about both of these shows)

First of all

Flaky! I think she's my fav of this franchise (gently scooping her up and placing her near my other favs- I MAY draw her interacting with them at some point)

Second, Flippy/Fliqpy- there are more, but these are the only ones I will show (I ain't proud of the first 2).

I don't really have much to say- I'll admit I do like Flippy on his own.

And last(-ish), Pop and Cub.

Pop is just- I kinda love-hate him??? Dude's sometimes unaware of the dangers his son is in, but at least he does sometimes show that he cares (and mourns) when something happens to his son.

Cub deserves the world he's just a baby- a itty bitty baby boy-

And since I mentioned bakugan earlier- ngl now I'm thinking about 2 dysfunctional families where the father is bad (but at least Pop kinda tries to be decent, meanwhile Clay is- yeah)

This may sound a lil silly, but thank you for all the Boschlow content you create! It’s really helped me to feel better about posting my own content.

When I first got into the fandom I was more afraid to post it due to it being a rather hated ship, and Boscha being a rather hated character. I always loved the rivalry dynamic but yet so many people in the fandom have it in their head that Boscha is completely irredeemable and a horrible person. (She is literally a child- who can grow and change- and yet the fandom forgives adult characters who have done significantly worse things akakajakaka-)

But after I found your blog and got to go through so much of your wonderful art, I started to feel more motivated to post my ship art! It’s odd how much these silly lil witches mean to me but I’m happy to finally post for em! And I have you to thank for that ^^

I did notice that boschlow's gotten a lot more content over the past few months (especially ones that actually explore their dynamic and don't just have willow punting boscha into the sun). I guess I never really realized that it partly could've been because of me lol!

And thank YOU for YOUR wonderful art! I love sharing my favourite things in the world, and I'm happy seeing other people enjoy it as well! I guess I just wanted to show people how much I love them, whether or not they liked it too. On Saturday evening I decided I needed to give myself a very specific sort of vacation/staycation/personal-time and to do so immediately**.

It's a do all the things you need to do in order to recharge and not feel DisTraCTed sort of vacation/staycation so, honestly, some of what I am planning on doing sounds busybusy but another chunk of it will just be planned personal time and yet another chunk will actually be "doing vacationy fun things from the comfort of home-as-home-base."

Yesterday I got myself a 90 minute full body massage with hot stones to mellllllllllllt melt melt my muscles. And then I slipped into brain-off mode for much of the evening with light entertainment. I made the Decision(tm) to finish the novel that leaves me grumbling. I have one more chapter plus a short afterward to go. The second to last chapter had a moment that made me want to dump the book into the fire. I am very hesitant to ever use the phrase Mary Sue for a character for so many reasons that are well discussed (probably somewhere years ago on this blog) but, ffs, sometimes that is the precise phrase needed. Actually, more like Entitled Mary Sue. Anyhow...

Today was a post massage sleep in for as long as needed because that is how I make sure I didn't just toss money down the drain. ;)

And then, long slow hot shower and hairwashing (because my muscles neeeeeded all of that heat), toss on a no-ironing-required sundress, and out for local neighborhood lunch and coffee and a stroll and sitting in the sun just doing nothing. Ahhhhhh.

The importance of sun and doing nothing.

I recently ordered and just received and unpacked a really nice pair of lapdesks that feel handmade (two different sizes, smaller one has built in adjustable stand for using a tablet/ipad/book/notebook/sketchbook). They came from shop in france. Currently using one of them while sitting outside (at home) and getting more sun while drinking more coffee. Lol.

Today is a day of chill out.

For the next couple of weeks (or few weeks), I plan on splitting up my weekdays between:

1. Doing lots of fun things that I just haven't had time to do. This includes everything from sketching animals at the zoo, to seeking out interesting places around me (food/coffee/tea/photography ops), to finally getting back to video games (modding CP77) where I am the one holding the controller, to finally being more social online (lol-- DW i'm so sorry).

2. Listening to lots of audiobooks while continuing/returning to address all of the years of entropy. The great KonMari action. Etc etc. Also, finding all of my summer clothing and organizing it nicely.

3. Learning some new recipes to cook because I need to create a rotating set of meals I like to eat that are HEALTHY.

4. Re-starting some sort of yoga/stretching/exercise routine.

5. Getting a bunch of random/boring/necessary Adulting(tm) things on my to do list (that I keep punting month after month) finally checked off and done or, at least, appointments made and scheduled into my calendar.

6. Getting back into various hobbies that are entirely for me rather than For Professional Reasons.

7. Writing and arting only what I feel like writing and arting. Maybe take some online art workshop just to let my brain turn off and have some fun.

For the rest of today I will mostly be a lazy person because I need a lazy day in the sun.

hello! i’ve been meaning to start adding image descriptions to my art and i know that you describe images and art fairly often, and i wasn’t sure who else to ask, so i was wondering if you would be able to answer a couple questions i have.

i think i more or less have the actual description part down but how should i embed IDs? should i put it in alt text, in the text of the post below the image, or in the text of a reblog? if i put an id in alt text should i still format it like [ID: …] or would i ditch the brackets and preface? im not sure if any of this is obvious, i couldn’t find anything answering these questions.

tl;dr IDs should go in the text of the post below the image like you suggested, in plain text of normal size!

alt text alone doesn't work for people who use large print instead of screen readers (or other people who depend on descriptions). putting it in the text of the reblog is less accessible because it means the original version of the post that shows up in tags is inaccessible + people may reblog before you add the description, creating inaccessible versions floating around. IDs also should not be in small font, under a readmore, or after your artist's caption (it should be the first thing after the image).

i'm actually not sure if it's helpful to add an image description in alt text in addition to an in-text image description. folks who use accesskit (via xkit rewritten) may have a toggle on to view alt text as captions, so maybe? i'll punt this part of the question to anyone with relevant experience/insight?

if you do use alt text: good alt text practice is to omit the brackets and "ID:" because a screen reader should already flag alt text as a description. alt text also shouldn't say "image of" or "picture of" for similar reasons. some screen readers also cut off alt text after 125ish characters so it helps to ditch those extra ones. here's a good resource on alt text for tumblr that also has writing tips, and this is a good guide to how alt text works for screen readers in general.
