Can you spy him, deep within? Little Possum, black as sin. Bag is open, growing wider. What's inside it, man or spider? Little boy, don't lose your way. Possum wants to come and play. Look at Possum, there he lies. Children meet his lifeless eyes. See his nasty legs and tongue. When he wakens, watch him run. Wait a while, my little child, for what is playing dead. Possum, with his black balloons, will eat you up in bed. Happy valley, painted black. All the children in a sack. Wave goodbye to sun and moon. Say hello to black balloon. The parcel opened, out it sprang, the black, long-legged Possum Man. Children, run! He'll eat and smother any child without a mother.

the funniest part of this is the plasticity cast has no context for tori weird AU life. yeah why WOULDN'T she have been raised by spiders. that might as well happen

Day 24 of Hermit-a-Day May: Joe!

The Witch of Webs and Manipulation, very few people have actually seen his real body. Rather, this Brim interacts with the world almost exclusively through intricate puppets controlled via magic. Well-made enough to pass for human from ten paces, and good enough to fool most people who don’t touch the wooden skin, it is occasionally necessary for him to use more… unnatural methods to deter both Knights and curious onlookers. Hence the spider legs, and the scissors.

My biggest fear is being trapped somewhere and unable to escape, the inability to make my own choices because someone or someTHING else is making them for me. Being in a situation from which I can't escape, being oppressed and micromanaged and watched at every move. Emotional claustrophobia. I will never be a teaching assistant ever again alls I'm saying. But I don't know what the entity is exactly

That is the Web. People call it the fear of manipulation, and that’s certainly a large part of it, but that’s not quite right - it’s the fear of losing agency. The control doesn’t have to be subtle. It can be very much overt and heavy handed, with no clever misdirection. It doesn’t matter if you know you’re trapped in a web if you can’t escape it anyway.
