More fun things: sex

Whether William's rough or gentle with Mike, I can see him wanting to be *thorough* with it. Like I can see him wanting to figure out exactly what Mike likes, watch all of his reactions, see what gets the biggest reaction out of him...and wanting to be able to make Mike like it, lose his mind, break him down completely. Where he's pretending to be nice guy, it'd make Mike feel like he really cares, really wants to make it good for him, is really paying attention to him...and knowing it might make Mike a little dependent on him, how good it is, and he can ALWAYS suddenly drop the truth about who he is and Garrett, and watch Mike's horror, I think that might be quite appealing to William on its own. In a situation where he's just out-and-out a bad guy to Mike, I think he'd just love the control of it.

And edging, I feel like, would be a huge thing...denying Mike an orgasm, controlling when he gets it, getting him to the point of mindlessness, begging...and building it up to a mind-blowing orgasm that blows Mike's brains out. With Will knowing that that's probably the most relaxation and stress relief Mike gets in a week...which will probably keep him coming back.

Praise kink, I feel like would be a thing too...maybe William has to wait until Mike's already a little out of it for him to accept it, but...Mike's already tormented by the idea he let his little brother down, clearly doesn't think much of himself as a caretaker for Abby. And who knows how his parents reacted, even just in grief in the heat of the moment, after Garrett got taken...I feel like being told he's good, that he CAN do what he's told, he's doing well, would probably be something that really got to Mike.

In a world where William is paying Mike for sex, especially, I feel like Mike would have a safeword - not because William really cares about safe, sane or consensual, but because Mike's going to fight. Of course he is - 'insubordination', and all that. They both need to know whether he's just fighting, or ACTUALLY means 'I don't want to do this, I can't go through with it'...with William knowing he'll almost certainly never use it.

Sex toys. With William being an engineer, I feel like he'd enjoy using toys on Mike. Something merciless and unrelenting, where William can kind of take a step back and just watch the impact :) Maybe with Mike's hands tied or held down, so he can't do anything about it himself.

News sites are reporting it's real, and frankly yesterday Excalibur gave a LOT of detail about the injury which I think they usually don't make up if it's for a storyline :( I think he's having surgery, and you can never say never - Edge and Christian were both never going to be able to wrestle again, among others - but for now it *seems* like AEW and Chuck are expecting the worst. Or they're going *very* far to play us.

Roses.

His cell is filled with roses.

Punk whistles from his right, sounding impressed. “He really went all out this time, huh?”

Joe shoves him. Punk laughs in response, like this is in any way laughable, so Joe shoves him again, harder, before finally entering his cell.

Punk follows him in, plucking a rose from the bouquet on the bottom bunk and snapping the head off. “You know, he never sent me flowers,” Punk says, tearing the petals off and scattering them along the floor.

“Clearly he likes me better than you,” Joe says distantly, breathing in deep and slow.

They're incredibly, beautifully fragrant.

It makes him wonder just how he managed to get them all in here, how much it must have cost. No small amount of money spent to try to cultivate an alliance with the top dog of the penitentiary.

It sure makes a pleasant change to somebody bending over and asking him to be gentle.

There's a single bouquet on his bunk, and it's the only one with a card nestled between the blooms. He swipes it out, shoving Punk a third time as he tries to read its contents from over his shoulder.

Dear Joe, it begins. Dear. Overly, cloyingly familiar, which is entirely the point.

Please enjoy these roses, my gift to you. Thought I'd help freshen your cell up, because I'm sure it smells as awful as the rest of this place.

Back-handed compliment. He huffs out a short laugh. Pedestrian, but strangely endearing.

The sign-off is three simple initials, written in a different hand to the rest of the card.

He's aware of Punk breathing down his ear. He ignores it, at least until Punk speaks, the amusement gone from his voice.

“Don't let your guard down around him,” he warns, as though he already knows Joe is going to entertain this idea of an alliance. Punk always did know him too well.

Still...

“Don't concern yourself with me,” he says, sliding the card into his pocket. Then he turns and slaps Punk on the back, a friendly enough gesture, save for the fact that it's directly where he knows the ragged scar, the entry point of the shiv, lies. Punk wheezes and doubles over in agony, looking ashen. “I won't make your mistakes.”

William inviting Mike out to get a bite to eat so he can get to know him better...if Mike's working at Freddy's, maybe stopping by 'to see how he's getting on' and just chatting with him in his old hunting grounds...maybe offering to let Mike do a few oddjobs around his house for a bit of extra cash (👀 or something)...finding out about Mike's pills somehow and messing with them, switching them out for ones that are twice as strong or spiking his coffee with a little extra, to make Mike even MORE fuzzy-headed, he REALLY needs help...

Lots of possibilities.

William eventually getting invited around for dinner at the Schmidts...Abby HATES him, and it's not clear if it's just because of his behaviour or if ghosts are telling her things, but Mike figures she hates HIM most of the time so it doesn't make much difference, and William just finds it funny (he's very 'nice' about it)

William somehow finding out that Aunt Jane IS in fact finally trying to kill Mike, and being like "ummmmmm..........no"

Alternatively, after the film Mike starts sleeping more normally and having different dreams - but William starts showing up in them. Nightmare from trauma or ghostly presence? How can he be sure?

You’re right, @purplehairsecretlair; it would make so much more sense if the priest featured in the video was not Jerome! I was ready to accept this headcanon, but then I found the official description of the trailer:

This is about Joseph Seed's journey before he became the Father, before Pastor Jerome was forced to forfeit his status as shepherd of the County's souls.

So The Baptism is about Joseph “stealing” Jerome’s congregation… That said, I totally agree that this isn’t consistent with the game for several reasons (which you probably already know, but I want to use this opportunity to talk more about the trailer).

First, Joseph found John and Jacob before he started the Project, and they all arrived in Hope County together. In the trailer, however, as you pointed out, he’s alone. We see him creating Eden’s Gate, writing his own holy book, and recruiting his first followers. Also, this shot...

...looks like what the 2nd step of the Pilgrimage tells us in the game:

II. The Cleansing: Joseph Seed affirms his obedience to the Voice by cleansing himself with his own two hands, becoming born again.

Steps III and IV are about him getting his first followers and the Voice telling him about the Collapse, and he only “collects his blood family” at step V, which... I realize is not consistent with The Book of Joseph, unless that means he had already found his brothers and only “[anointed] them as his Heralds” at this point.

Regardless, the story told along the Pilgrimage path isn’t consistent with The Baptism either because he only brings his disciples to Hope County at step VII, but he’s clearly already there in the video. Plus, his Heralds don’t seem to be with him…

I tried looking for more information about the trailer, especially about the cast and characters but, aside from Greg Bryk, I couldn’t find the names of the other actors.

However, I found this. The website says the video has won 25 (in my opinion, well-deserved) awards and provides a synopsis, probably written by DDB Paris, the agency that created the two live-action trailers, The Baptism and The Sermon, for Ubisoft. It says that the little girl is “the daughter of the legitimate priest whose place [Joseph] took, ten years ago”. Far Cry 5 never implies Jerome ever had a child, so I don’t think that’s still canon, but I’m glad we finally know who she is!

I stumbled upon this other article (with a behind-the-scenes picture). It’s in French, so here’s a summary:

It was Ubisoft who “imposed” Greg Byrk on the agency, but the artistic director thought he was “perfect” even though they barely knew him. The copywriter comments he was “very immersed in his role” and “exuded something powerful”.

The video was shot in Canada, in Merritt BC. To help the team, Ubisoft sent them the “huge mood board” they made during their one-year trip to Montana.

Some shots were unscripted, such as the scene with the little girl on the swing.

About 150 people were involved in the project which also required dozens of supply trucks.

Finally, it says the trailer was released 14 months after the first briefing. Jerome and Joseph’s backstories had plenty of time to be rewritten...

I also remember reading this interview with the director on the now-offline UbiBlog years ago. So, in case anyone was wondering (I was), that string of saliva was, in fact, totally unplanned :’)

He’s stopped by Wardlow’s hands on his shoulders, thumbs at his spine and fingers almost touching his collarbones. They’re warm, warmer than the cuffs, and it makes his heart pound nervously in his chest.

“Need the hired help to do your dirty work, Punk?” he spits out, trying to keep the nerves from his voice. Remembers what had happened the last time Wardlow had his hands on him.

Punk shakes his head minutely, looking over Max’s head, and the hands vanish. He hears the door open, then close, and he can tell just from the feel of the air that they’re alone in the room now, that the rest of the Pinnacle have gone.

He doesn’t breathe a sigh of relief, because he knows Punk’s worse than any of them.

“You think I had to ask any of them to help put you in your place?” Punk says, a smile playing at his lips as he pushes to his feet. Max can only watch as Punk walks towards him. Hates the way his neck has to crane up to look at him.

His heart is still pounding. He’s filled with nervous tension, feeling like a lightning rod in a storm.

“And where is my place, Punk?” he says lowly, overly aware of how dry his mouth is.

Punk looks down pointedly at Max’s crotch, and Max can’t even cross his legs to hide his erection. “You tell me, Max”
