A/N: I've finally gotten around to finishing this chapter. And im now ready to share it with you all. This is my first attempt at fanfiction, so do go easy on me, hehe. This chapter is quite short, but not to worry.. It's just to start everything 🥰 Enjoy!

Chapter one: Introduction.

The door opened to a large and bright hallway. The floor was made of marble, a beautiful cream colour that accentuated the marvelous light pink walls all around. In the middle of the room stood a large round table with a giant vase filled with the most wonderfully smelling flowers, basically welcoming anyone in. Above the table hung a chandelier, brightening up the room. Behind it, a grand staircase.

I walked inside, carefully stepping around the table so as to not accidentally knock anything over. Knowing myself, it could very well happen. On the opposite side of the front door was another door leading into the dining room where a part of the group was already located. I walked in and carefully looked around.

The flooring in here was a light coloured herringbone-style wooden floor and light green walls filled with the most exquisite artwork. In the middle of the room was a dining table, much larger than the one in the hallway. This one is big enough to seat us all, it would seem. A few people looked my way as I scoured the room for my best friend. I found her sitting at the end of the table on the left side of the room.

I hurried towards her, and as I sat down on the chair beside her, I gave her shoulder a slight squeeze as a way of saying hello. The room was filled with chatter, everyone trying their best to figure out what was going to happen. My best friend, Leah, was participating in the conversation as I sat quietly, just listening to what everyone had to say.

Every few minutes, a new person would show up and take a seat around the table. Eventually, we managed to fill every chair available.

There was a slow building of tension in the room as we all just sat and waited.

I jumped slightly as another door opened, a door which seemed to lead towards the kitchen area. In through the door came an older woman, possibly around the same age as my mother. She had a small tray in one hand, and on that tray laid an envelope. She walked towards the other end of the table, opposite Leah and me, and bent the tray down as a way of saying, here, take the letter. The young woman, a blonde, picked it up, looked around at us all, and then proceeded to open the envelope. Inside was a letter, one she then proceeded to read out loud.

Dear group 27,

You have all been invited to be a part of this wonderful experiment: The Greenleaf Society.

This house will be your home for the next 10 months. In these months, you will not only learn new people but also what it means to create and maintain a functioning community where everyone has a place and duty.

The first order of business will be getting to know everyone, may it be in the form of a party or otherwise, is up to you.

For the most part, everything will be up to you. But occasionally, you will get a letter from us with a challenge/assignment.

Curious and slightly confused looks were shared around the table. The blonde, named Astrid, quietly folded the letter and neatly placed it back inside of the envelope.

The chatter was abrupted in an instant as a tall, dark-haired guy stood up from his chair and proceeded to say, with a loud and determined voice, "Guess we're having a party then!".

A few cheers erupted around the table, as Leah stood up from her chair as well. "Shouldn't we introduce ourselves first?" Get everyone's names and such?" She asked and added,"I mean, if I first get a drink or seven, names will be the last thing to stay in my memory afterwards." She giggled and got a few in return from the others, including me. I knew her well enough to know she was speaking the truth.

The tall, dark-haired guy from before raised his hand slightly and waved. "Alright, I'll start then. Names Alex. I'm 28. And always up for a party." Ending it with a loud laugh. The guy next to him stood up next, with a smile on his face. "Hello. My name is Harry, I'm 28 as well. Alex, here is a friend of mine. Have been for many years. So, um, I guess you can trust me when I say he is not as annoying as he seems at first." He says with a little chuckle at the end. His voice was soft and captivating. And the accent didn't hurt either.

I looked over at Leah. Her eyes already on me, with a mischievous smile on her lips. We had known each other long enough to tell when we were thinking the same things. This being the case right now. Certainly thinking this should be interesting, and perhaps, life changing.

The name introductions made its way around the table quicker than I had imagined. Many were of the same age, it seemed. Before I knew it, it was Leahs turn. She stood up once again. With a smile plastered on her face, she started introducing herself. "My name is Leah. Im 27 of age. And the one sitting next to me here is my best friend." She adds and points towards me as a way of letting me know it's my turn. I slowly stand up from my seat and look around at all the faces. "I'm Charlotte, but everyone calls me Charlie. And I guess I'm the youngest here. I'm only 25." I say with a smile and sit back down on my chair.

Tasting: Moonlight Black Air Dried Purple Tea

What do you get when you take a varietal normally processed into Moonlight White tea and turn it into a black tea? You get this wonderful brew that sits right on the line between black and white tea. This tea is made from Zi Cha varietal purple tea leaves. The aroma alone shows characteristics of both a classic moonlight white tea and black tea.

The dry leaf smelt of grapes, dry red wine and has a floral tone that reminded me of rose. The wet leaf while still with the aroma of grape transitioned into a much more tart and deep aroma with notes of cherry.

The flavor of the tea was much like a cross between silver needle and a lighter black tea like a Keemun. It was very light in flavor and lacked bitterness, with floral aromas similar to what you may find on a silver needle. Also detected hints of cherry in the background. The floral notes and cherry were very well balanced and together were similar to a cherry blossom.

This is was quite complex in flavor, mainly because of just how close it fell on the line between two different types of tea. At the same time, because of this, the tea left me unsatisfied and was constantly looking for from both the black tea and white characteristics of the tea. While a good cup and quite mellow, ultimately for me, the tea was neither here nor there. However I do believe it deserves at least a 3 out of 5 stars. I’m really not sure if I will purchase it again. I think for me, if I want a black tea then I will brew and black tea and vice versa.

I’m only a little obsessed with the cherry trees in our yard. This one is small and young, but smells so heavenly and glows in the sunlight.

I tried to get some photos the other evening, but a storm was blowing in and it was very windy. I’ll try again today!

Tasting: Aged Zi Cha Purple Leaf Ripe Puerh

And now for the first of four Zi Cha purple leaf varietal tea we have this loose ripe puerh. The tea was harvested and wet piled in 2011 then stores until 2019. This is the first ripe purple leaf puerh I’ve tasted and I think is possibly the only I purchased. This tea also differs from the other puerh teas I purchased in that is was not pressed into a cake.

I found the dry leaf had a kind of mossy, antique kind of aroma which I have found it other tasty ripe puerh teas. Notes of wet earth, milk chocolate, a hint of molasses and a dried fruity note similar to dates. The wet leaf opened up these aromas a bit more, with the chocolate coming off sweeter and reminded me more of a wafer with coco. Still found the earthy and mossy aromas but found they were more mellow.

The brewed tea surprised me in just how mellow is was. Uncommon for most ripe puerh teas. The tea is soft with a thick creamy taste and feel, and completely lacks bitterness. I had difficulty find the fruity notes or and the chocolate didn’t come through so much in the flavor of chocolate, but more like the mouthfeel of creamy hot chocolate. With further infusions however, I did not find that the tea changed much in flavor. It did not present anything new nor lack in flavor.

This is a puerh that I would recommend to someone new to ripe puerh, who might be doubtful of the more deeper earthy, minerally, fermented aromas and flavors you usually find in a nice ripe puerh. As someone though, who loves ripe puerh It’s not really my thing. It has a nice light mellow flavor but didn’t quite hit all the right buttons. None the less, I give it a 3 out of 5 stars. As I said, not a bad in anyway, just not my thing.
