ARTHUR (@pursued-by-a-memory): [ SHIELD ] (sender catches hold of receiver's shoulder and draws them back and away from a threat, pulling them behind them for their safety) x
her mind had been wandering to dangerous, bittersweet territory again. as it does, on these quieter, slower days. so too had she, haunted haunting aimlessly, towns and faces and talk and persons blurring into one big, pointless, senseless mass. unbeknown to her, one of the gentlemen she'd earlier had the displeasure of dealing with- an opportunity gone south- had been tailing her for some time now. her daydreaming is shattered at the touch of a hand on her shoulder and in a heartbeat, she's whirling 'round, ready to-
❛ get your hand offa me before i stick it- ❜
then, there's a glimpse- doubt, at first. confusion. then, recognition. and remembrance- in her narrowed, sharp eyes, before she takes advantage of this interruption, lunging forward and dealing a harsh strike to their company's temple, swift and efficient, with the handle of her revolver. she watches him crumple to the ground with some satisfaction, before spitting on his lifeless form. just to add insult to injury.
❛ arthur morgan?! as i live and breathe... ❜
with a disbelieving little laugh and a warm smile, she gives his shoulder a rough pat, before drawing him into a fond, glad embrace.
❛ all this time... an' we're still dealin' with pests, huh? how the hell have you been? ❜
she prises a blade from their unconscious companion's clutches, peering at and admiring the detail on the handle, before offering it to arthur.
❛ here you go- a little somethin' to mark the occasion. it ain't like he's in a position to argue. serves him right, too- the fool should've known better than to bring a knife to a gunfight. or, pick a fight with me... what do you say we leave this son of a bitch to stew in his own piss and go get ourselves a drink? i'd say we've earned it. do we got some catchin' up to do... ❜

I want to gently clarify something real quick: Harper's memory loss and status as a system isn't a tragedy.
(I can't promise how concise I'll be here but I just. Want to talk a bit about this while my mind's on it)
There are already so many stories out there that are downright awful regarding systems and amnesia, focusing almost solely on narratives of "oh wouldn't this be fucked up? Wouldn't this be awful? Wouldn't it hurt?" and I just. I'll be honest, kinda hate that! Sure, it can be rough to live with sometimes (speaking from experience) but it's not the massive, terrible burden that so many stories say.
That's why I put so much effort into writing Harper as I do. They're honest about the annoyances and lost paperwork, sure, but... they're happy. Doing their best from day to day, with a small group of others nearby that care enough to hold the memories that are too much to bear.
With all they've gone through, they wouldn't be the same kind, thoughtful person if they weren't a system. They wouldn't exist as themself at all, actually. It would just be Isabelle, driven to violence by guilt and rage and fear, with the knowledge that no one had ever cared enough to protect her when she needed it most.
But that's not what happened. She didn't have anyone outside of herself who was there for her, no, but her system formed to fill that void and she was Loved. And that love passed on to Harper when they formed too.
They've experienced trauma, yes. They've known tragedy and pain intimately. But their system and memory loss aren't any of those things. It's the reason they were able to survive them, and come out the other side still singing.
It's not a tragedy. It's hope.

Girls (Eugene Sledge) hate (love) for their brooding (listless pining) to be interrupted in the family cemetery (outside the military gala) by their estranged childhood companion (war buddy). Question mark

Alvin ☹️☹️☹️ i feel like the stupidest person here in my class, it always feels like not enough time for me to learn everything
chu that sounds really hard, im sorry :(
im here for you. it's really alright if it takes time. we all start at the same line, but the pace at which we move forward is different for everyone 👍 what matters isn't how fast you get to the finish but that you keep moving forward no matter the speed. so pls don't feel compelled to measure your progress against others or anything and instead focus on your own journey and trust that you're growing in ways you might not even see yet. you've got what it takes, and every single effort you make counts. and i mean EACH one
your peers(?) came from a science/maths background while it was different for you. they've had more experience in the past, yes that's true. but they aren't perfect either. i'm sure they've felt similar problems somewhere as well.
you knew what you wanted to do and the career path you want to take. most people (me including) don't have a clear idea of what to do and chose whatever was either high paying or easy. however YOU were able to identify your ambitions and i think that's what makes you more impressive and special than anybody else. i trust you :)))

'Enter, Pursued By a Memory' - an original oil painting by Nabeela the artist, featuring Arthur Morgan from Red Dead Redemption 2.
I love this idea of something originally created for a digital medium being remade as a physical work of art. Kind of the opposite of the way most art is being made now. No shame to digital artists - I just think we're losing something if we forget that physical artworks come with their own set of challenges, require a unique set of skills, and carry a special kind of beauty.

my mum and sibling just got back from their trip. i knew once i got a selfie of them maskless on the plane that they’d probably get covid, and my suspicions were confirmed when i started getting texts going “all the rich food is giving me stomach problems” and “the jet lag is hitting really hard”. i didn’t think their positive test text would be 2 hours after they got home, though. my mum is currently pissed at me trying to give advice about resting and hydrating and is avoiding me asking for a grocery list so i can drop things off. i’m exhausted. i don’t know what to do anymore. i just keep crying.
