last night i dreamt of walking through an empty airport parking lot, dragging an empty produce cart, looking for a car that wasn't there. i climbed a utility pole to catch a bus without paying, rested on a pallet of folded blankets in a slowly flooding room, and carefully painted broad orange stripes on my clothes in preparation for a funeral

#over three weeks now since hes gone #sometimes ill hear a noise and think. ah well there he is. ofc hed be back he wouldnt just leave me like that #like a specific way the wood would creek when hed jump up to his favourite sleeping place. the way his paws sounded against the glass door #the floor when he made his lil tap tap tap walk across the hall.#still haven't put away his boxies or his lil things or his bowls.#i still talk to him like hes lying just out of eyesight in his favourite boxie #we always did my puzzles together (i did the puzzle and he ruined it) and we just started one a few days before he. well.#i miss him all the time everywhere #cant stop crying. but like the curling up on the floor weeping type.#its like missing a limb or part of ur soul lol #collecting his fur like its treasure but then the realisation comes that thats it. thats all ill ever have of him now.#for the rest of my life. just this #and then we're back on the floor weeping lol #but i bought a locket to put some of it in so hes always with me still.#anyway. me, giving my dog a bowl of ice with treats frozen inside it that will occupy him for a While: haha silly dog with your silly enrichment toy. surely we have nothing in common!

me, not even ten minutes later: oh boy genloss!!

#dragons chatting #if you dont get it both the bowl of frozen treats and genloss are Enrichment in the Enclosure of approximately the same kind #if my dog just lets the ice melt on its own he will eventually get the treats gradually and also extra water to drink #but if he gnaws on and licks at the ice he gets the water and treats much faster #he can do either one with the same reward but its more enriching for him to work for the treats #with generation loss its a gradual reveal horror project im invested in #if i am patient and wait eventually the mystery will be released in full and other people will unravel it and lay it out so its easy to see #but its faster and more enriching for me to pick apart and analyze each installment as we get it and put my theories together myself #its rewarding to use my brain on something i enjoy to work and rework theories until i solve the puzzle #my dog and i both enjoy the same type of enrichment just in Very Different Forms lmao #genloss #generation loss

I made a really disgusting soup this week because several years ago my mom bought these sliced... beet artichokes? I dunno. anyway #they were forgotten in the basement freezer and when I moved I decided to bring them with me and see if they could be eaten #and you can (usually) make a really nice soup with them and potatoes etc but problem 1 was that they were not properly cleaned #and since they had been frozen I saw no clear way to like. fix them. so I popped them in the pot thinking it would all boil apart anyway #and here comes problem 2 - it's all supposed to be blended with that hand mixer thing you know? but I had forgotten it while moving #so I only had my electric whisk available for like 1 kg of root vegetables and almost 2 l liquid all needing to be crushed together #and I could not do it in the pot because it might damage the glaze or whatever so I stood there scooping everything into a bowl #and then tried to whisk it together into a smooth soup with my little electric whisk. I shall tell you that this was not a good idea.#anyway so I have been eating this lumpy yellow-grey mess with bits of peel in it and while writing this I still have three more days to go #every evening has been me going 'if you eat it you can have something nice after ok? don't look at it just swallow...'#and two weeks before this I made a really lovely fake palak paneer and it was a week of bliss and I suddenly started writing a lot #and after that came this soup #it's fine. it's fine. I would be hard pressed to cook anything worse than this for next week. so it's fine.
