I actually rescued a European Hedgehog a few years back during a heatwave. He was out in the daytime when they're usually nocturnal. And was being attacked by a Cat. So I picked him up and took him home so he could recuperate. My parents took him to a Hedgehog specialist who said he was malnourished due to his diet of worms and insects being sparse in the very hot weather (The worms migrate deeper into the ground to escape the heat). He was only a few months old at most and no doubt would've died if not for our intervention such as giving him water and puppy food. Here's a photo of him;

I still wonder if he's out there, returned to the wild and thriving. He was such a sweet little thing. I'm thankful that I live in an area where Hedgehogs are fairly common. They're amazing creatures.

AW! What a darling little hedgie! I'm so glad you were there to help him, you definitely did the right thing taking him to a specialist and getting him some food and water. Hedgehogs out during the day is normally not a good sign. Unless it's a mom moving her babies to a new nest. The little fella probably only recently left his mom to venture out on his own. You gave him the best possible chance at survival. I hope he is thriving too!

Hey everyone, I usually don't like to ask for help, but I had to take my hedgehog to the emergency vet this morning, and I don't currently have the money to pay for it or any procedures he may need, please help me save my hedgehog. Please share this with more people as well.
