Some more content from the last session of my homebrewy Lost Mines of Phandelver campaign.

This time, the party had to rescue PC Noone from the depths of her own mind after being strung together in The Black Spider’s web and placed under a sleeping spell. The web interconnects their slumbering minds where the Spider is playing some pretty wicked tricks on them- hoping to lure them into false, dreamlike versions of their memories where nothing bad ever happened while she searches their minds for information relevant to finding the Forge in the Lost Mines of Phandelver.

To escape, Noone had to be reminded of what really happened in her past confront it head on with help from her party.

Seriously, Kay and Anna had no problem shipping 24 years old Hugo and 37 years old Pyrus, so why are age differences so hated in the Vat7k fandom?

Could you guys maybe chill for a bit.

Age-difference ships are nothing bad.

Varipunzel, Cassarian Eugerian or Varalina are just as good ships as Varigo. Maybe even better.

If you want to add Cyrus to your list, I would like to tell you a few things about him.

His design is largely based on Pyrus Bitterfang's human design from the time when Hugo was still a DnD character.

And Pyrus and Hugo were a kind of item with lots of pictures showing them very physically close.

So I'd like to imagine that Hugo sometimes goes and flirts with Cyrus, like hugging him or sitting in his lap.

Also, there was a character named Cyrus in a Tangled comic who was the muscle to an intelligent she-thief. I don't know if that has something to do with it, but I just wanted to mention it.

Woah, I totally did not know about any of this. Thanks so much for the information. I always assumed that Cyrus was in his 40’s or 50’s. So it’s really unexpected to learn about him and Hugo being in a relationship. Of course it’s possible that the characters ages were changed for the AU’s comic concept. (Unless the creators like large age gaps that is.) Though as someone who doesn’t ship Varigo (due to personal IRL trauma among other things), I’d be fine with this new old ship becoming more widely spread/accepted.

I’ve been wanting to update my long Vat7K post for a while. There is a lot that I could do to make it better/more respectful. So if you have any suggestions feel free to let me know.

Okay, so since I don't want to risk being sent "Take this down" messages about the art I was sent again, I'm just going to address the stuff talked about in it. Plus, I'm less likely to lose the art reference if I don't post these. Wish I had thought about that when I shared all the pictures I was sent before, but…well, live and learn.

Submission 1: This was about Hugo and his character description. At one point, it's mentioned that he doesn't drink because he doesn't like losing control of himself, but the submitter said that later picture of him holding mugs of beer contradict this.

Well, let's be honest, just because the mug is full, it doesn't mean he's drinking it. It's a common trope in pretty much every setting that a character buys someone a drink and themselves one for appearances but don't drink it. We see him holding it in pictures, but it's not at his lips. So, he could still dislike drinking.

Also, he could be drinking root beer. Same foamy stuff on top, especially the barrel-brewed stuff. (Though, that stuff is bitter AF and I don't like it.)

Modern Hugo should be a danseur in the ballet or just in some dance troupe. That boy's got legs for days.

Submission 2: A bunch of Pre-V&7K Varigo pictures. Pretty sure that V&7K started because they drew Hugo's DND version with him. The pictures in submission 2 feature Hugo in a normal ponytail and not the V&7K style, so that's 24 year old Hugo the Human hanging out with 14-15 year old season 1 Varian. (Varian, please stop falling for older guys. facepalm) On the other hand, even though he has the ponytail he looks younger, so this may have been them experimenting with aging him down, and the one picture of them actually flirting has Varian looking a bit older. Still, fun reference and bit of history.

Submission 3: A bunch of pictures featuring Hugo the human and his boyfriend Pyrus Bitterfang. Submission 4 continues on this with talking about how Cyrus is based on human Pyrus and so Hugo from V&7K and Cyrus being a couple is totally fine. To that, I say "Well, sure, if Hugo wasn't 19 and Donella wouldn't kick Cyrus' ass for touching him like that." When they were a couple in DND, they were much closer in age and Donella wasn't a factor.

I do like the hammer in this concept art, though. Definitely gotta use that at some point. Also, why did they not keep that braid? Rude to cut his hair. #giveCyrusbackhisbraid2023

Submission 5: A bunch of cute pictures of Hugo being slobby and sleepy. Most of them are of the DND version, though, with only one of them looking like V&7K's. The hairstyle is a big indicator.

Submission 6: Again, an assortment of DND and V&7K. The picture of Hugo smoking is from the DND (ponytail), but the alchemist outfit and gun pictures have the undercut, so that's V&7K. I'm liking the gun picture's outfit, definitely should have him wear it at some point.

Lastly, there's a picture of Hugo the human's new design for a futuristic sci-fi setting and that's pretty cool.

Submission 7: Olivia. She's adorable, and how she is able to move around and be her own mouse is unknown, but these are some cute reference pictures. I think magic was definitely involved, maybe even soul-trapping magic - that'd be pretty dark, though.

Anyways, thanks for the submissions, I will keep them for reference and incorporate some of this information into TREL and any other V&7K-based fics I do in the future.

Final battle images for the finale of the first campaign I ever ran as a DM!! (It was a homebrewy version of Lost Mine of Phandelver!) I learned so much and had so much fun- can't wait to start my next game at the end of the month!!! :D

My pal @desdemonia made a "What Would Your DND Character Look Like at Level 20" meme and I had to do it with some of my babies (and my wife's baby, Hernando!) Ector discovers his own magic and defeats his patron before he marries Hernando, who returns home to the kingdom of Durvshava after running away to finally ascend his throne. Pyrus becomes Hernando's royal captain of the guard but rises from death as a revenant to continue to protect the royal heirs. Gibbon finds a way to live forever (oh no) by getting back together with his vampire ex boyfriend.

Some doodles of what Ector's patron Arteus was like before he fell from Celestia to become an Arch Devil and how he gradually reveals his true form to Ector over the campaigns Ector is in. As Ector's confidence grows, Arteus' disguise becomes less effective in fooling him. And some Pyrus doodles <3

Yesterday was Ector’s Black Spider spell-induced dreamland session of my homebrewy Lost Mines of Phandelver campaign! The party had to rescue Ector from the depths of his own mind after being strung together in The Black Spider’s web and placed under a sleeping spell. The web interconnects their slumbering minds where the Spider is playing some pretty wicked tricks on them- hoping to lure them into false, dreamlike versions of their memories where nothing bad ever happened while she searches their minds for information relevant to finding the Forge in the Lost Mines of Phandelver. The party had to wake Ector from pleasant illusions of having gone to a university where he had lots of friends, was a magical prodigy, and a favored pupil of the benevolent celestial, Hesdmaster Arteus Nocniste (his fiend patron outside of the dream.) Waking from the Spider’s dream trap meant Ector had to recall his origins as an urchin in Luskan who was saved from execution as a thief by an “angel” who just needed him to sign a little contract afterwards- one assuring Ector a better life and continued protection. The party is now fully awake from the Spider’s sleeping spell and our next session will be our final showdown!!!

Some NPC portraits for the next long-form campaign I'm going to run this March!! I'm doing a very homebrewy take on the Tyranny of Dragons arc- starting with Hoarde of the Dragon Queen. I created a guild with seven factions based off of different birds called the Guild of Flocked Feathers and each of my players is from one of them. They'll be coming together under order of the Guildmaster for the special mission of collecting five Tiamat masks. Pyrus is going to be NPC/PCing as their quest master! It'll be fun to play with him again.

Emo in-game parallels between two of my DND characters where being enticed to their wildest dreams through psychic magic involved Pyrus once again being engaged to his late partner, Arlok, and Ector's engagement to his evil patron being called off.

Waking up was painful for both of them. ;-;
