Aug. 17, 1798 - Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte and Désirée Clary got married in Sceaux.
Except for his relationship with Cathérine Lamour, not much is known about Jean-Baptiste’s previous relationship history but in the military his nickname was ‘Belle-Jambe’ (‘beautiful leg’) which is said to have been a hint to “his ability to appeal to the opposite sex”.
When it comes to Désirée we have more knowledge about her history. For example, we know that she had previously been engaged to Joseph Bonaparte. The two got to know each other after he found her sleeping in a waiting room and then walked her home. Through Joseph, Désirée got to know his younger brother Napoleon who took a liking to her and suggested that she should be engaged to him instead, and Joseph to her sister Julie. Something everyone involved thought was a good idea.
Julie Clary and Joseph Bonaparte went on to get married the same year whilst the next year, in 1795, Napoleon ended the engagement with Désirée. In 1797 Désirée moved with her sister and her husband to Rome where Joseph was ambassador. There she became betrothed to Mathurin-Léonard Duphot, a French general. The betrothal was more or less arranged by Napoleon and Désirée herself is said to not have been enthusiastic about the plans. However, two days before the intended wedding, an anti-French riot broke out in Rome and Duphot was killed in the unrest. Later in her life, Désirée vehemently denied that the engagement to Duphot ever happened.
Back in Paris, she got to know the French general Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte. He is said to have given her the nickname “Bonette” and liking arose between the two. They soon became engaged with the wedding taking place later the same year. Since he was a Calvinist and she an atheist, the wedding ceremony was a civil one and not religious.

Hastur's Queens
Desideria- the Queen in green
Tumblr media
Desideria is worshipped on Carcosa as the goddess of the plants and all things wild. Believed to he from the so called "Old World" Desideria was a beautiful human woman that Hastur was rather taken with. Abducting her, he forced her to become one of his wives. For stealing her away from her home and family, Deria isn't loyal to him at all, even when she's a favorite, and is known for having affairs with mortals while seeking true love. Her sacred animal is a Vikzux, a fox like animal that can imitate the voices of lost loved ones.
Desideria's Ring
Tumblr media
An emerald on a black gold band, the ring is highly prized, as its one of the more intricate rings. Whoever acquires the ring controls Deria, but also gains the power to talk to animals and control plants.

have been feeling listless and unmoored re: sims stuff lately, but i got a healthy dose of inspiration from @warwickroyals & @prydainroyals this past week, so i did a little succession / magazine-ish thing :^) obviously beatriz's 2023 death would be commemorated in uspanian vogue !!!!! obviously !!!!
transcribed text below:
Fashion is a Royal (and Family) Affair
That Crown Princess Barbie is a student of Uspanian style isn’t a surprise. For this issue, she recounts the historical episode at the heart of our memorial for the late Queen Beatriz. Pictured above in private photos are: Mother Desideria in 1860; Mother Zuriñe in 1885; Mother Rowena and then-Crown Prince Alfonso in 1926.
THE “BIRDIE” ISSUE OF VOGUE USPANA debuted in 1973. At the time, the magazine was in its infancy. An issue shaped by the queen—and it was, from cover to cover, driven by her desires and presence—ensured longevity. It proved to be a bestseller. Clothes, too, flew off the racks as Uspana’s designers received a boost among popular consumers. A textiles renaissance commenced among women of a certain class who had been looking elsewhere for quality fabric. Then and now, this was the mission of the magazine: loyalty to Uspanian fashion. The Birdie issue was a testament to this, from the sensibilities it imparted to the sourcing of its materials. The queen’s favorite designers, stylists, and photographers filled the issue; it made them iconic, and they would continue to set national trends for decades to come. More importantly, the Birdie issue fit into a larger project underway during Beatriz’s reign. Foreign fashion’s creep into the Uspanian mainstream had started two centuries before Beatriz obtained the Crown, but it reached its cultural apex under the sway of her mother. Uspana’s people had long reviled Queen Rowena’s taste in one breath and wished to emulate it in the second. The two women were not seemingly opposed in a diametric sense. They overlapped under the label of “extravagant,” namely, but Beatriz was forgiven her excess. The Birdie issue, in retrospect, shows why. In an initial meeting with the queen, she told then-editor Lluc Soler that she cared deeply about a “revival” of traditional fashion in the country. Soler replied that traditional fashion was alive and well—“in the mountains, with the grandmothers.” Some in the annals have suggested that this retort led to control of the issue being ceded informally to a team with whom the queen preferred to work. (By 1975, Papan Ibarra had risen from those ranks to become the magazine’s new editor-in-chief, a position she occupied until 1991.) Nonetheless, a certain truth in Soler’s statement formed the foundation of the issue. It did draw heavy inspiration from those grandmothers in the mountains. This included people such as the queen’s own grandmother, Mother Zuriñe, who readily embraced the aesthetics of Yaas and was a master weaver in her own right. The cover reflected the elevated homage orchestrated within. On it, Birdie herself posed in a wool rebozo hand-dyed with cochineal. This garment was a perfect duplicate of the so-called suncloths the queen’s great-grandmother, Mother Desideria, wore on a regular basis in the late nineteenth century. Fittingly, it was also topped with a replica inspired by the time. One of the many jewelry pieces destroyed during the 1880s had been the Shield Flower tiara with its red fire opal set in gold and symbolic allusions to the sacrifice and self-immolation of Uspana’s founding mothers. Queen Beatriz wore tiaras on many occasions, but it was widely known that she preferred to wear the true Uspanian symbol of elite regalia: the jade necklace. For that reason, jade

Whats the line of succession when eloise has kids?
Hiya! The Ionian Union currently has an Elective Monarchy, so there is no "line of succession," however I want to entertain the idea of what succession would be if it was Absolute Primogeniture. I'm picturing Eloise is like... 45, at least, therefore all of Viviane's generation is Long Gone. you can read it below, it's (shockingly) quite long.
HRH Crown Prince Lenerd, Duke [Redacted], son of Queen Viviana II.
HH Prince Louis-Fredrik of [Redacted], son of Crown Prince Lenerd.
HRH Prince Sigismund, Count Sonnenbreite, son of Viviana II.
HH Princess Odile-Charlot of Sonnenbreite, daughter of Prince Sigis.
HH Princess Margrethe of Sonnenbreite, daughter of Prince Sigis.

Queen Desiré might just have been like really into ultra vintage fashion and costums?
Consider it! She might just have still been living in the years of France being a provience of the ancient roman empire, in her mind, and that was why she was all like
" NORTHERN BARBARIANS!! Ok, i am leaving sweden right now"
When she came to sweden to become its queen
In the reality she was living in it was the 19th century, but her soul was that of a Gaul that had adopted the roman ways, and turned her nose up and all the other Gauls and other assorted northern barbarians who had still not gotten dressed in the latest roman fashion
OR
Sweden was just a shithole in the 19th century. That also possible, BUT

6 Jan. 1811 - Désirée Clary was introduced to the Swedish Royal Court at the Royal Palace in Stockholm. When her husband was named Crown Prince of Sweden, she initially thought this would be similar to the Ponte Corvo position - meaning just a pretty title but nothing concrete. She later admitted that she had never cared about any other country than France and knew nothing of foreign countries.
Désirée delayed her departure as much as she could and was frightened by the stories of her French servants, who tried to discourage her from leaving by saying that Sweden was a country close to the North Pole filled with Polar bears. The Swedish climate was reportedly a shock for her, and she hated the snow so much that she cried.
Hedvig Elisabet Charlotta described Désirée in her diary as good-hearted, generous and pleasant (when she chose to be) but also an immature “spoiled child” who hated all demands and could not handle any form of representation. She further described Désirée as “a French woman in every inch” who disliked and complained about everything which was not French, and “consequently, she is not liked.” Désirée herself said that the Swedish nobility had treated her as if they were made of ice: “Do not talk with me of Stockholm, I get a cold as soon as I hear the word.”

The character Barbie has been popping up on your blog and she is pretty and I am very interested in her. Can I hear some things about her if you have any ideas on her?
ahh, thank you so much for asking about her !!!! 💓💓💓💓 i love to word vomit about my characters :^) however, actually, barbie belongs to @dreamstatesims, who graciously allowed me to share her. she is absolutely gorgeous (erica’s talent ... i am awestruck), and she has a fun personality, too ! all confident and extroverted and energetic, with a healthy spoonful of goofiness that makes her extra lovable. i think she may be the less cringe-y version of germán... they must be so obnoxious if you have to be in the same room as them asdhjksdsf
right now, the distant future plans for my story are quite undefined—i have things planned out through the early 1950s, and then just undeveloped plot points beyond that. i don’t know if i’ll actually try to ~storytell~ the period between the 1950s-1990s. however, my current intention is to have a future part set in the early 2000s which will feature, among others, miss barbie. i’ll decide on the final cast in 1798243 years when i actually get to doing this (maybe i solicit more sims from y’all, we’ll see), but barbie will be a main character ! it’s gonna be a Super Cliche, Teen Movie School Setting Situation (see this); gotta work on my royal simblr bingo card, anyway. something cute that’ll happen is that yesenia (who’s posing with barbie in the last picture of that linked post) enters the story as the Awkward Pretty Scholarship Girl and becomes miss barbie’s best friend.
in the generic 2020s present day posts i sometimes make, barbie and germán are married and have four children: desideria (desi), malena, felix, and ... a baby whose name is either christina or isabel & birth order tbd??? skdfjsgsd pretty sure their wedding was the actual Wedding of the Century ✋ anyway, they’re the crown prince & princess after beatriz dies in ... tentatively 2023 ... then, they get to be king and queen like a decade later [everyone groans.] i just think they’re a very cute couple, and i feel like barbie’s got a good head on her shoulders which nicely balances out his head being full of rocks kgjdsglsd !!!!
my vague but firm headcanon is that barbie is BELOVED by everyone in uspana because she’s lovely and fun and a proper Influencer™ (she’s probably the only senior royal who runs her own social media accounts). planning to do one of those instagram template posts for her sometime soonish ... in the 2000s, the royal family had a lot of twenty-somethings who spent all of their free time partying and being photographed doing it, and beatriz had the bright idea to just ... embrace the celebritification of the monarchy to help it stay relevant. in my mind, barbie’s image is, like, the ideal outcome of that effort.
for the foreseeable future, i’ll continue to be ... living out my gameplay impulses by doing random photoshoots of her and the family. i want to do an outtake with her sometime soonish, on that note. anyway, move over germán, barbie is the REAL STAR now !!!
