You know, finally taking the time to play through Horizon Forbidden West properly and not rushing through made me appreciate a lot of things more. But also made me real sad about some parts, ie missed potential.
Playing slowly through HFW made me appreciate the Gaia Gang even more, but it also made me jealous, because the gang in itself, esp the Varl-Zo-Erend triad, feels a lot closer to each other than to Aloy, so, to me.
I mean, I GET IT. Aloy is out there, running around saving the world while the others are hauled up together, studying, so they get to spend a lot of time together.
I just find it sad cos I wanna feel that connection between them and Aloy as well. Esp cos we see how much Aloy learns to value these bonds over the game and there's just, kind of a disconnect.
I know it would be hard to integrate it well. Guerilla cant make us go back to the Base constantly. I would have loved though if your companions could call you throughout the game just for small chats. They already do that to notify you of available Sidequests, I wish they would have done that for random chats too. Like, just make it an optional function, and they can only contact you when youre not in settlements or fights. If you happen to enter either of them during the call just make Aloy say "Gotta go, sry!".
I just wish we got to talk more to them. Heck, just put some of the Companion or Training voicelines as those optional overworld chats. Not only would Aloy not feel as disconnected from the group, we could also learn more about our friends and actually bond with them organically than just rushing through all available convo options after Main Quests.
TLDR, I love the Gaia gang but Im sad I dont feel as close to them as they feel to each other, and I wish we had more opportunities to spend time with them.

Can't believe salt does this to me this fiercely. The misunderstanding people have of lore. Lottie, you cheat with your timing. Consider Clorinde officially incoming with Arlecchino to complete my lineup for now, at least until HVY possibly gives me Guizhong. The only thing that could change my mind is if her SQ absolutely blows, but considering how incredible Arle's was, I doubt that'll happen.
Hi Clorinde, get ready.
#i'm so done with people pointing fingers at hvy. can we please remember /realism/.#it makes SENSE for characters to do things that make sense FOR THEM. even if they are questionable /to us/ as the audience.#please know and remember what the marechaussee phantom was and fought against.#and how incredibly and firmly rooted clorinde still is in its traditions. she's arguably the one most devoted to those values.#again: what /we/ know is not what /the characters in the game know/. which means realism.#which means decisions made weigh infinitely harder. they're SUPPOSED to. we're literally leading up to a new dain quest.#can we please stop with the lunacy in youtube comments talking about how hvy needs to be more aware of how 'sensitive' things are.#stop it. /stop/. i need you guys to stop. this is why storytelling so often drops in quality in the west. i just.#[ out of character. ] don't bend or water it down. don't try to make it logical. rather: follow your most intense obsessions mercilessly.

Carlotta's Story Quest "Book" Report
This is the first of my "Book" reports I plan to make on Wuthering Waves. I played through the entire quest in one go and decided I wanted to write out my thoughts and share them.
This post is going to be very long and I don't expect anyone to read the whole thing, this is more for me than anything tbh. but if you decide to read through it feel free to skip around if you like!
I also open up the floor for discussion, share your own interpretations or copy my format to make your own report!
Link to my live notes from when I played the quest: here
Spoilers for the entire quest, so adventure on at your own discretion!
Media: Wuthering Waves
Story Title: When on a Rainy Night a Family
Time taken to play: 2 hrs and 56 mins

Rover is asked to meet at Liberty square via a cryptic message handed to them by a member of the Montelli family. When they get to the meeting spot, they are greeted by Capollo, the future head of the Montelli family. A conversation is had where Capollo thanks Rover for their help in the crisis during the main story quest, undermines Carlotta’s decision to contact the black shores, and warns Rover not to interfere with family matters. This is when Carlotta bursts onto the scene, interrupting the frankly suspicious interaction, allowing for Rover to leave and for her to have a private conversation with her Uncle. Before they leave, Carlotta warns Rover to watch out for “eyes”. Evading the people watching the streets, Rover makes it to the Montelli safehouse where they find a strange well dressed old man peering at a painting, appreciating art while he hides from the rain. After a cryptic conversation about the meaning of the painting, he leaves and Carlotta appears. Here she explains that a vault keeper named Benett has been branded a thief and found dead outside the city and that the details around his death are suspicious. She asks Rover for help in uncovering what happened to Benett and whether foul play has occurred from members within the Montelli family.
The duo first investigates Benett’s home, with Carlotta finding nothing out of the ordinary and Rover discovering from two of Capollo’s men guarding the house that Capollo is not too worried about the stolen goods. As they consolidate their findings they realize they are being watched by an old man. After chasing him down Rover and Carlotta discover this is Duncan, a man who deserted the Montelli family after a traumatic experience wherein he lost many friends, leaving the now deceased Benett as one of the last who survived that night. He is shown to be hiding something but will not show it to Carlotta and Rover, instead he tells them to go find Scarlet Velvet, the leader of a network of common folk who once did business with the Montellis and who may have more information about Benett’s missing belongings.
Rover and Carlotta first stop at a bar that serves as neutral ground between the many factions in Ragunna and hint at wanting to make contact with Scarlet Velvet through a drink code. The bartender only tells them of her location after they reveal that Benett is dead. Rover and Carlotta make their way over to Scarlet Velvet’s last known location, where they find her and her crew being harassed by a couple of Order of the Deep Acolytes. These Acolytes are trying to take the crew’s terminals they purchased from the Montellis, deeming them unworthy and accusing them of obtaining the terminals through illicit means. Rover and Carlotta step in and get the Acolytes to leave, but not before discovering that the Montellis apparently reported the illicit activity to the Order themselves. Scarlet Velvet explains that the terminals were indeed bought from the Montellis, specifically through Benett, but the Montellis suddenly ended their deal and stopped all contact with the group. The most recent time she had seen Benett, he had asked for something to be hidden in his hideout nearby, leading Rover and Carlotta to discover a vault storage code that can only be accessed by the three highest ranking members of the Montelli family, Carlotta, her grandfather and Capollo.
Duncan contacts Carlotta to let her know he has found Benett’s missing terminal and that while damaged is having its data retrieved. The data retrieved shows the locations Benett visited with two exceptions from his regular schedule, the true location of his death, Liberty Square, where Rover originally met Capollo. It is also shown that he visited a dock mostly used for storage by the Montelli family, also suspiciously Capollo’s personal dock. There is more data that was unable to be retrieved without the help of an expert named Pierre, who is a close friend of the head of the Montelli family. Before looking more into the terminal, Rover and Carlotta look into the vault storage code they found, where they discover the data module of the terminal stored in the vault has been removed. Capollo calls Carlotta right as they discover the undeniable evidence of his treachery, hoping to convince her to turn a blind eye so he can lead the Montelli family on a safer path under the Order’s thumb. Carlotta refuses, even under threat of consequences from the family, and vows to expose his schemes.
After the call, Carlotta and Rover must race against time to gather evidence before Capollo can cover it up. Carlotta goes to the docks to investigate while Rover goes to find Pierre so he can repair Benett’s terminal and retrieve the rest of the files. While at the docks Carlotta finds no new evidence but a strange mirror that drags her into a Sonoro sphere.
Meanwhile Rover discovers that the old man he met in the rain is actually Francesco, the current head of the Montelli family and Carlotta’s grandfather. They share a similarly interesting conversation about the line of succession in the Montelli family and how he is leaving this mess to Carlotta almost as a test while Pierre fixes the terminal. Once it is fixed Rover discovers that Capollo was indeed the one to kill Benett under the Order’s order, though he admits he would’ve done it regardless. Capollo also was the one to give Benett’s terminal to Duncan, lying and telling him giving it to Carlotta at the right time would help in preserving the dead man’s reputation. It is also revealed that the agent Capollo asked to stage Benett’s death in the wilderness recorded all of this data for he saw Capollo’s actions for what they truly were, betrayal. Through this information, Rover deduces that both Benett’s terminal and the docks were a trap for Carlotta and runs to save her, with Francesco giving them a hidden item on their way.
Carlotta discovers that this Sonoro sphere is depicting the day her adoption was announced to the Montelli family by Francesco, but finds there to be some differences. The people in the audience are welcoming, not the disdain she remembers from the true event. This is when she sees the master of this Sonoro sphere, her mirror self, who shows her changed memories where the praise she so desired for her unshakeable loyalty is given to her. The mirror Carlotta wants Carlotta to stay in this world forever, out of the way so Capollo’s plan can be put into action.Through this world we learn about the night of the storm that has been referenced throughout the story, a traumatic moment that helped shape the Carlotta we see today.
One stormy night the Fisalia family has launched an attack on three main parts of the Montelli’s territory and are planning another attack on their headquarters. Francesco is out of commission and Capollo is forced to call the shots. The changed mirror version of this memory allows Carlotta to suggest a counterattack she believes would have avoided the tragedy that truly occured on this night, to attack the Fisalias at their Echo storage facilities while they believe the Montellis to be down after the prior attacks. This way they can use the echoes as a bargaining chip to stop the attacks. However this is not what happened in reality, instead they called for reinforcements to the undermanned West end, emptying the East End and Headquarters, letting the Fisalias watching these estates know that the West was weak. The Fisalias attacked and slaughtered the people in the west end. Capollo’s reasons for betrayal have been revealed. Carlotta became the weapon to prevent such a defeat from happening, Capollo chose to change trajectory and walk the safe path to avoid another tragedy.
Despite the possibility of seeing a different ending to that tragic stormy night, Carlotta persists forward, determined not to let Capollo destroy the family’s legacy. The mirror Carlotta tries to stall her exit, trapping her in a maze and trying to remind her of the people who shunned her throughout the years, not fully accepting her as the new granddaughter to the leader of the Montellis. It is only when she goes backwards in the maze that she reunites with Rover, who shows her the way out through Francesco’s gun, showing his favor for her over Capollo. Together they defeat the mirror Carlotta and Carlotta tells Rover the story of her adoption.
Carlotta as a child defied the Order by taking food from the altar meant as an offering to the sentinel, as she was hungry and didn’t understand why she couldn’t eat the perfectly good food there. The other children called her out, telling her it was wrong to take the food. She tried to run with her prize but the others chased her down and cornered her against a wall. As they yelled at her, she grew more agitated and activated her forte, causing the window behind her to shatter and form gems around her and around the orange she had stolen. This sudden activation caused her to pass out. This activation of her forte and her immunity to indoctrination marked her in Francesco’s eyes as a true Montelli and he chose then to adopt her.
Now that all of the information is out in the open, Rover and Carlotta make a plan to stop Capollo. Two days later, Rover, with the help of members of Scarlet Velvet, sneaks themself and the strange mirror into the meeting Capollo is going to have with members of the Order. Carlotta emerges from the mirror in another room while Rover disables cameras and plants some of Carlotta’s gems around the building. They then confront Capollo, taking back the data module and admitting that they canceled the original meeting with the order and tricked him into meeting them. He admits his methods betrayed the family but still tries to justify his choice as one meant to protect the family. Capollo chooses his fate and orders his men to attack Carlotta and Rover to retrieve the data module. Together Carlotta and Rover escape with style, exploding the pre-placed gems and jumping together out of a window. They run all the way to Averardo bank where they meet up once more with Francesco. Carlotta thanks Rover for their help and as a “goodbye, until we meet again” gift she gives them a cat’s eye gem before going off with Francesco to finish cleaning up the mess left behind.
Rover: In this story Rover’s backstory as Lord Arbiter doesn’t really come into play, and their status as member of the Black Shores only really comes up in relation to the dynamics of Carlotta’s duties in the Montelli family vs Capollo’s. Rover learns a lot of information during this quest but is not the one going through a character arc. Rover acts as the audience stand in, they ask questions, make deductions the player should be making themself, and interacts with Carlotta in a way the audience would likely want.
Carlotta: Main character of the story quest. The things we already knew about her are that she is very loyal to her family, ruthless when she needs to be, cryptic, calculating, and determined to learn the full story before passing judgement. In this story we learn quite a bit about her character, she plans far ahead and can play around with letting people find information for themselves, she isn’t infallible and can still miss things. When it comes to Rover, she finds herself surprised by their wish to be more informal with her, or hiding that they had met her grandfather. She is also shown to have been affected by the negativity she overheard after her adoption, leaving her in an unstable spot until she found her resolve after the defeat on the stormy night. Carlotta also shows a lot of emotion during this quest, happy, playful, angry, surprised, determined, and heartbroken. However these only happen in front of Rover, which may point to her becoming more comfortable with them as the quest goes on, as this level of emotion is not shown in front of other members of the Montelli family, bar Francesco at the end witnessing her interaction with Rover.
Capollo: The main antagonist in this quest, Carlotta’s uncle, and the next head of the family. We first heard of him during the main story quest where he was kidnapped and interrogated by the Order of the Deep. This quest lets us get to know him and reveals him to be a traitor to the Montelli family, despite doing so with seemingly good intentions. He decides based on the same traumatic stormy night as Carlotta’s decision to let the Montelli family walk a different path. He chooses to let go of the pursuit of freedom and innovation that the Montellis originally strive for in favor of the much safer position allying with the Order of the Deep. In this story, Capollo serves as a twist villain, we assume him to be “good” due to being a member of the Montelli family, as well as knowing he was held captive by the Order. However lots of breadcrumbs are left throughout the story to allow the player to figure out his betrayal.
Francesco: Current head of the Montelli family, Carlotta’s adopted grandfather and Capollo’s father. His first appearance is actually in Carlotta’s character showcase, though all he does is nod to allow her to take revenge in that video. In the game he is introduced as an old man who seems to think deeply about things, from art to his family’s dynamics. He is shown to tend to take a step back and watch his two chosen heirs battle it out, as he feels he is old and ready to see what the new blood may bring when he is gone. While his propensity to seemingly sit out a lot of the happenings in the quest to watch makes him originally seem a bit more chill, there are moments when we learn his true character as head of the Montelli family. When he admits blood doesn’t save Capollo from punishment, when he has to clean up the mess after the fateful stormy night, and at the end of the quest he is the hardened mob boss one would expect. He shows he can be ruthless when he needs to be to enemies, traitors or even his own family as he isn’t afraid to allow real people to get hurt in testing his heirs. Francesco is there both to show the pride of the Montellis as well as the horrors they can bring. He is shown to be a strong leader who has gotten the modern Montelli family to where it is when Rover meets them, but keeps his ruthlessness that is characteristic of his position to show the side of the Montellis that is darker.
Benett: A vault keeper who knew too much. He was a survivor of the stormy night and a good friend to Duncan. However he stayed with the Montelli family while Duncan deserted, working as a vault keeper. Through his job he helped get terminals into the hands of common people by helping facilitate the deals with Scarlet Velvet. However, through this, he was likely one of the first to discover Capollo’s plan to betray the family to the Order as the deal with Scarlet Velvet ended. He realized what this meant and took note of the vault storage code Capollo was entering and left clues to be found by any who discovered the plan as well. In doing so he became a target since he knew too much, Capollo murdered him and staged his death to look like he was killed by Tacet Discords to hide his tracks. He was then labeled a thief and a traitor to try and stop other family members from looking into him. Benett’s death is the inciting incident of the story, allowing the player to discover more about the politics of the Montelli family as well as more of the dark side of associating them.
Duncan: A survivor of the stormy night and a deserter from the Montellis. He resents them because in the end his devotion won him nothing but dead friends. He came back for Benett to try and save his reputation post-mortem since there were rumors that Bennett was a thief. He was promised by Capollo that handing Carlotta Benett’s terminal would earn him redemption for Benett. However Carlotta reveals to him Capollo’s lies, which adds to the already numerous problems he has with the Montelli family. Duncan is a character that helps lead our protagonists but is also directly affected by the faults of the Montelli family, showing the player that they are not as infallible or great as they were originally shown to us during the main story quest.
Scarlet Velvet: The leader of a group of common folk hoping to get their hands on terminals so that they too may have echoes that can help them in their daily lives. However the Order of the Deep kept denying them access, so she made a deal with the Montellis to buy their terminals. This went well until Capollo sold them out, leaving Scarlet Velvet to deal with the Order and almost losing the terminals they bought fair and square. Scarlet Velvet is a minor part of this story that kind of just helps Carlotta and Rover to find information on Benett and later to take down Capollo. They are an interesting group that adds another layer to the politics in Ragunna, however there is not too much detail on them in this quest.
Order of the Deep: While not the main focus, the Order’s fingers are in everything in Rinascita. There is no separation of Church and State in Rinascita, and the Order demonstrates how a country like this may operate. In this story they hover like a dark curtain over the entire narrative, showing up to cause problems to the Montelli family as they go against the Order’s principles. The Order shows themselves to be willing to overstep to get what they want, with instances such as trying to take Scarlet Velvet’s legally purchased terminals because they don’t want common folk to have access to echoes, or turning a blind eye to the turf wars between the Montelli family and the Fisalia family because wiping out the Montelli family would benefit the church. A big theme with the Order that has continued on from the main story quest into this quest is their desire for control over the populace and the many ways they are willing to attain that control. It mirrors the real world and how sometimes religion can be weaponized for control rather than truly following their own doctrines.
Montelli Family: One of the major families in Ragunna that hold power. The Montellis are the group that is considered progressive, favoring innovation and defying the Order to bring freedom to the common people of Rinascita. They broke the monopoly the Order held over echoes by selling terminals and advancing research in the field. The Montelli family and its politics are the focus of this quest, for we are originally introduced to the family as this great benevolent entity in Ragunna. They bring progress, they help the fools lost in the pilgrims sail, they are generous to their guests and they oppose the Fractsidus. This quest turns that notion on its head by showing the Montellis dark underbelly. They are still a mob family, they have turf wars, betrayal is met with execution, loyalty or death, all for the sake of progress. They lead the country in innovation, but this story also shows the cost of that innovation among the people of the country. It is a nice glimpse into the reality of what the family is, grey, not good or evil.
Fisalia Family: Another mafia family in Ragunna, one with strong ties to the Order. While the Order does some shadier things in person during the main story quest, it seems with the history shown in this story quest the Fisalias are the ones to do the dirtier work for the Order. The Order cannot directly take out the Montelli family as it would likely break the illusion of control they have over the people of Ragunna, so they turn a blind eye as the Fisalias try to wipe them out for them. Past the story of the storm, the Fisalias don’t play a huge role in the story, but the worldbuilding done with their inclusion helps in contextualizing what occurred in the main story quest better.
Loyalty vs Bloodline
Capollo came from the preferred Montelli bloodline, Carlotta was adopted from the lower branch of the family, but her loyalty proved stronger than Capollo’s direct blood bond to the cause.
This is shown through both Carlotta and Francesco's actions. With Carlotta, most of her actions have something to do with being loyal to the family and ensuring it's success and longevity in the longrun. The main Rinascita story quest preceding this also shows this part of her character.
Francesco's actions show this theme through allowing Carlotta to deal with his current appointed heir, someone you would expect him to protect, as well as Francesco's initial choice to adopt her. Francesco favors Carlotta's power, spirit and loyalty over his own blood Capollo.
Innovation vs Control
This theme is one that carries over from the Main Story Quest, showing the difference between the Montelli family and the Order of the Deep. The Montelli's strive to innovate and take Rinascita into the future, while the Order keeps the populace in place and under their control. This is a relatively common trope in media but it is still an important message in today's world. It is an interesting question of whether progress and religion can intersect without fallout like what is happening in Rinascita and in real life. It will be interesting to see what answer Kuro goes with to this question as the story progresses.
I like the old movie slideshow type storytelling used for flashbacks. Its a good way to save time for the animators to work on other scenes that may need more subtle and impactful animations while not losing out on quality as it fits the vibes.
Watch out for the “eyes” scene - I found it to be done in a good way. There is no sneak function currently but I didn’t find I missed it because I felt the movement features like wall running to move out of sight up high still felt in line with sneaking
“You preach the doctrine, yet fail to adhere to it yourself.” - Carlotta
I live for her calling order members tf out lmao
I really love the computer screen visuals. I just think they’re neat and a nice change of pace during storytelling not to have characters directly telling us info. Also nicer to look at than reading pages like we sometimes do in story quests.

“The old give way to the new, that us the way of the world.” - Francesco
While two children ran past the screen. Love the symbolism
Mirror Carlotta’s design
I love the different colors, the light refractions of her hair being crystals, and she herself cracking in places. Just a very cool design. Kuro, mirror Carlotta skin when?

Francesco’s design
I love that we have an old man npc that looks amazing. His wrinkles could be more shaped into his model than just lines on the face but his more defined nose and eye shape with crows feet help in selling him as old and not just young man with wrinkles sharpied onto his face. I also love that he has sun spots and scarring on his face.

NPC Designs
It's well documented that Wuwa has amazing npc designs but I wanted to point out another two in Sage and Acorn. The vast difference in their face shapes and characteristics is refreshing to see in NPCs

Splitting up to watch two characters perspectives
I liked getting to see Carlotta’s experience by herself in the mirror before Rover arrived. Rover not needing to be there allows for different storytelling when learning about these characters in their quests.
All the cutscenes were gorgeous as per usual
Character Expressions
The improvement in character expressions is astronomical. You can get so much from just facial expressions or the fact that characters will actually do actions like handing items over. It’s just very good show, don't tell.

Rover and Carlotta’s chemistry
I like to see the progression of the relationship writing in this. Going from Yangyang just kind of fawning the whole story with no buildup to the back and forth Carlotta and Rover have is a nice change. You can see how they test each other and how they are learning to predict the other by the end of the quest. I don’t personally ship this but I think that beyond romance this is a very good relationship. Two friends close enough to fight like this is still compelling to me and I love it.

The pacing in a couple areas was a bit slow. Specifically the bar scene. I don’t love how sometimes they make you go talk to nearby people, I know its so you can parse out who is the one you’re actually after but I find it very tedious. Since Kuro has such nice rigging with their models, I would like to maybe see them have npcs in situations like this show more body language so that you can choose whether you talk to them to be sure or you can pick up on the subtleties and find the target based only on that.
I don’t know if it was a glitch on my part but Scarlet Velvet’s facial animations were really janky. Carlotta and Rover had regular smooth speaking animations but Scarlet Velvet’s were really choppy. It was only her face though, her body movements were still smooth.

The moment Carlotta has a flashback as she realizes the scene Mirror Carlotta is going to show her, they use the dreaded black screen with text explaining what’s happening. There are other uses of it in the quest that I think are done well, for example switching from Carlotta to Rover’s POVs when they’re separated, however this is not one of them. It was a good opportunity to maybe do another 2D art still like they did later for Carlotta talking to Duncan. I know this one would’ve likely been very gorey though and I don’t know if maybe they couldn’t due to censorship laws in China.

Speaking of black screens, please leave them on screen longer, I had trouble reading them fast enough.
Some of the dialogues during the mirror scenes felt a little unnecessary. For example, there’s a part where it is described that two npcs spot Carlotta lurking in the corner after we watch them spot her. We watched it happen, we don’t need it spelled out.

I would love to see changes to the dislikes above
A playable character unaffiliated with the Montelli family or the Order
So far we only have characters who view the Montellis favorably or are Phoebe and associated with the Order. Seeing a character who is maybe considered a commoner, someone who could get caught in the crossfire of the turf wars that as a result dislikes the mafia families. Cartethiya/Fleur-de-lis may end up being that? I can hope anyways lmao
Carlotta has very thick hair and thus has an undercut to thin out her hair. I don’t know if other characters have the thing with shorter looking hair at the neck but since she’s the first character I’ve noticed with it I have decided.

Shout-Out to Cool Ranch, for making me forget I was a Pirate.
Legit I was in there for so long being a bounty hunter and driving one of the Bison-Origin ships I was convinced I was a Cowboy. When the 7 finally mentioned Captain Blood I was like, ???????
Also, my roomie heard me say, "Right. Captain Blood." Outloud and glanced over to my screen before going, "Are you still in the wild west? Which pirate is this??" And I tiredly replied that it was Ryan (my main) and she just kinda laughed and shook her head. (<- Has never played P101 or W101 in her life btw. She just hears me mentioned it once in a blue moon.)
#spiral spot#p101#pirate101#i kid you not#I like the vibes#but I am so sick of being trapped in the wild west#let me out!!!#Ryan is trying to have trauma over the Armada#not help settle new junk in the wild west#she does not care!!!#facinating area and beautiful skyways#Love Froggo Villa#he was my highlight tho#let me out of this prison#Monquista has my hatred frfr but that's cuz it was an engaging plot#I straight forgot why I was a cowboy here cus there was just so much#love the game tho#having a ball#Silent Ryan Ironside#Ratbeard also had a level up quest and I have never been so excited to do fetch quests in the Skull Island#skyways before I kid you not

I finished Final Fantasy XVI tonight! I absolutely loved this game! It has a fantastic story, very well-told with a heavy amount of lore (that isn't shoved down your throat but mentioned casually as one would with well-known facts about the world, with an option to look it up since you as the player wouldn't know these things), and incredibly fun gameplay! Unlike pretty much any other FF game, you can't adjust anything about your party members, only the main playable character, and it plays more like an action game than an RPG. The good characters are very likeable, and the bad characters easily hated, though neither of those are written like too much of a cliché. Be prepared to laugh, to cry, and to cheer on the spectacle! I highly recommend this one!
#Next up we're playing through the new Genshin Impact content#Even if the new stuff comes out Wednesday instead of Tuesday I still have one quest I was saving for stream#So we're good to go!#After that will be Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores DLC!#Final Fantasy XVI#Final Fantasy 16#FFXVI#FF16

About your language brainrot. I see your "Reader's writing can't match tyvat's long and flowery writing" and bring you "Tyvat isn't used to books over 50 pages long so a short story to the Reader is a whole dictionary to tyvat readers".
Seriously, have you seen how thin the books are? They don't wrote novels, they write short chapters formatted in the way really old stories are. As in, summarizing all the events down into one smooth story then adding a few quotes. Fanfiction writers are insane. They will willingly sit down and write hundreds of words at a time. To them, a proper modern day story of maybe, oh 10k words or so, would probably be like the Oddessy itself.
If we were to combine the two headcanons. It would end up as many historians being intimidated by this insanely long written scripture in the language of the forgotten.
I'm going to take this a step further and say that if the creator asked some people to proofread their things, it would establish a hiarchy of who is able to actually finish the book the creator read and who isn't.
NOW THIS, THIS IS MY FUCKING JAMMMM
I'm so sorry this is so old!! u probably all know this by this point that I've really slowed down as the year has gone on, but I graduated university and then got my first job so its been pretty crazy!
Sun: Reader (you/they/them)
Orbit: Headcanons-ish
Stars: dash of all the book/nerds of Genshin, heavy on Sumeru?
Comets & Meteors: Content Warnings: Cussing, 16+ Mature Audiences, Spoliers for Sumeru Archon Quests/Scaramouche, & Trigger Warnings: mention of shipping/characters shipping themselves with you.
Comment if any missed, please.

FULL STOP.
THE AKADEMIYA, FONTAINE RESEARCH INSTITUTE, HAVE BEEN WAITTTINNGGGG ON YOUR ASS LMAO
You fall from the fucking sky like a 5 star, or pop out of the Irminsul or whatever
and immediately are mobbed by scholars. LMAO jkjk (not really, bc that's what it’d feel like)
can you even imagine the dread older stories(”the classics” to them), that was instilled in the poor students around Teyvat??
id like to think ur works are the most preserved over the thousands of years of Teyvat archeologists excavating them, in comparison to other authors (teyvat just likes you more, suck it William Shakespeare)
also, bc I cant resist language differences/world building I'm sorryyyy 😭 😭
the vocab of Genshin lang vs. ours, has significantly less vocabulary like their actual dictionary is 1/3 the size of ours type of energy
(Omfg all ur fanfics being considered like insanely long realistic romantic classics or tragedies like Jane Austen-level, and only the richest and biggest play companies put on plays about ur stories bc the script goes on for hours)
(ur plays only get put on for rlly big events bc of this, like Lantern Rite or like a Summer/Winter festival/your birthday, which is, yes, an international holiday)
dude the sheer power move of anything you’ve written being essentially “Journey of the West” to them, like Damnnn.
endless like adaptations, plays, Teyvat-short stories condensing it, (THEIR OWN FANFICTION ABOUT UR STORIES)
the power is, in fact, going to your head every time another scholar both deflates at how long ur stuff is, but also lights up bc they get to read it
speaking of scholars… you know who snatched you up first. you know. you don’t even need to read the next line.
Alhaitham.
sneaky bastard he is, absolutely manipulated, mansplained (and manwhored bc he knows he’s handsome, cheeky little shit) his way into getting you to sit down with him and interview you about both translating other classics, your own, giving your own analysis of others works and ur own, and picking ur brain apart of how/why you wrote urs, etc. its fucking endless,
Kaveh had to come rescue you bc u were starving to death after getting stuck with the Haravatat scholar in his office for nearly 7 hours of interrogation discussion about literature
and Alhaitham wasn't even nearly done, he’d informed you as you left that he already had another appointment for later conversation scheduled (how?? you don't even know ur own schedule??? you have a schedule???) and was looking forward to more of your “creative and enlightening input” :)))
(you’re never going to escape him, not even Nahida herself can save you from his stubborn ass)
On another note, Xingqiu is quaking when you agree to autograph his copy of your stories (of which he has all hard covers of the first edition translations)
Zhongli/Rex Lapis is known for having a near-lifelong passion for searching for your works specifically, and learning how to translate them better into Teyvatian vernacular
like the same way he can absolutely speak on Rex Lapis facts/rocks/adepti info, is the same confidence he speaks about knowing ur work lol
(yes he did also ask for several autographs and another sit-down talk about the works, tho a lot more sneaky then Alhaitham bc he just casually gets u guys into it during dinner)
Barbatos/Venti has written some of the most famous songs based on your stuff, he has his favorites too,
but he always claims the best songs are any that have been written in the story, like either when a character sings something, or there are like quotes from songs ur fanfics are based on lol
(he also demanded to hear what they actually sound like from you, yes, you have to sing them for him lol)
Venti also can surprisingly drunkenly ramble the entirety of at least one of ur stories, like, word for word lmao
(Diluc gave in and did give him a drink on the house for that one, just once, Venti doesn’t remember it lol)
(I forgot to mention, u guys still speak the same language, just like, different versions of it)
ur works being one of the few things all the Archons can freely talk about with each other, like it’s neutral ground bc they’re all fangirling about it lmao
Furina and Neuvillette have had like,, fierce debates over the decades about character dynamics and the general drama of ur stories, they’ve gotten into it enough they’ve stopped talking to each other for a couple days a few times lol
Albedo, Sucrose, Kokomi, Yae Miko, Ei, Raiden, have read every single work they’re gotten their hands on in Teyvat (it took them like a literal year or longer)
Albedo drew you fanart for every single story, bc he’s hyperfixated on everything related to you ngl,
Kokomi had commissioned smaller pocket versions of ur works (which later got popular thanks to Yae Miko) both the OG and the Teyvat shortened versions
THE HARBINGERS ARE THE MOST DOWN BAD LMAO
Childe has literally tried to recreate battle scenes from ur works lmao
and gets especially riled up about fighting someone who resembles any characters from them (esp villains, what a cutie)
You cannot fathom the amount of research throughout Teyvat that has been secretly or indirectly funded by Pantalone/Tsaritsa
from the experts to analyze them, to funding play companies to act them out, to actually excavating places to get more of ur stuff unearthed
(the Harbingers absolutely are the first group of people that got to read several of ur stories first bc of this, like the world’s most exclusive secret book club lol)
Scaramouche used to clown on Childe all the time about how he was too impatient to even “sit down and read the King’s classics”, and he was downright insufferable when he found out about Tartaglia’s habit of recreating battle scenes/that being what motivated him to fight sometimes lol
that being said, Wanderer surprisingly never forgot ur stories.
Even when his memories were wiped for a bit, he found comfort in these fantastical epics still sticking around, even when his old names did not
(he mayyyy or mayyy nottt have secretly namedhimselfafteroneofthetragicprotagonistsherelatesto- )
oh btw, Nahida also found joy and comfort in ur stories when she was trapped, they also helped her literally grow as a person bc she had ur stories to help her sort of process the world/what life was like outside of her dreaming prison 🥺💔❤️🩹
◇
OMFG
ANYWAY FULL TONE SHIFT LMFAO-
the ABSOLUTE SPIRAL-RED-STRING-CONSPIRACY-THEORY-BOARD ENERGY IF THIS WAS A BLUNT LANGUAGE AU LMAOOOO
like specifically how Teyvatians like to give all the context ever thru their words, but older deities/beings like you just do simple phrases that can have deeper meanings (whereas teyvat just explains all the meanings behind their words)
STOP there’s like an official display at the Akademiya and Fontaine Institute of red string theory boards 😭😭 (look what you’ve done to themmm LMAO)
for like every story of urs, INCLUDING THE FANFICS STOP
IMAGINE THE SHIPPING WARS IF U EVER WROTE ONE THAT WASNT EXPLICIT OR LIKE ONE OF THE MAIN ROMANTIC INTERESTS HAD CHEMISTRY WITH OTHER CHARACTERS HAHAHAHAA
that's actually what Akademiya scholars argue about the most viciously, it’s like politics you can’t just bring up ships from ur stories casually in regular convos 💀
(poor Cyno has to deal with a shipping war once a year bc someone always makes the mistake of reading ur work for the first time (without being told to not talk to others abt ships lol) and it starts an all out brawl in the cafeteria every time LMAO)
Also yes.
Cyno is a fanboy.
(he has read Creator x Reader-insert fanfiction.)
(As have most of the characters mentioned, and those not lol)
…
(I'm gonna make a whole Creator x reader fanfic post one day i stg lmao)

˖ ࣪⊹Lover's Embrace, Fading Warmth
Contents: 3.3 Quest Spoilers, Mydei x GN reader, angst, I'm a grieving widow so y'all gonna suffer with me
Words: 334
Red skies stand still as gold splashes across the underfoot, glossy and thick as words come to a choking standstill in your throat.
A blade holds Mydeimos pinned in place, pierced through him mercilessly like a faulty childhood memory - old, blurred and betrayed, only leaving behind something that was supposed to keep him safe. For even a moment longer. His eyes find yours in the small distance away, bleeding just as he was, expressing shock and regret, so many thoughts slowly fading from those eyes you love - eyes bringing a shattering symphony to your heart. Light was all but gone from him, even as he made one last attempt to reach for you with his mailed hand.
Your own pain doesn’t sway you, but it weighs you down all the same, the ground coming up to meet you with a cruel slap to your entire body as you collide with it, the Flame Ravers blade having cut through you like a hot knife through butter. It hurts.. it hurts..
“M.. Mydei..” choked words resonate on each fragment of your broken heart as you watch him tumble down like a sack of sand, boneless, with a distinct breath wheezed out as he meets the cold ground. Bitter, angry , grieving tears blurred your vision until all the colors of the world merged into a muddy, gloopy puddle. All you could see was that wretched gold mixed with browns and reds and blacks. The Flame Reaver was far away from your mind, and you didn't realize you were moving until you were near Mydei again, hopeless prayers falling from your trembling lips. Blood lined the path you crawled, and your last ounces of strength evaporated from you as you collapsed on top of his back, embracing him with a quiet sob.
The idea of those distant shores of the west could not quell the hurt of your heart. The wound you suffered did not kill you, but the absence of warmth of your dear Mydei’s body did.
