And we're back (almost)

After some time off, I figured out how I could fit game dev into my life again. So I have about four projects queued up, a couple of them set in the World of Aeser, and this one, called the Third Voice.

A heartbroken inventor, in an attempt at reaching his girlfriend's ghost, accidentally creates software that taps into the thoughts of those around him, including people who are spying on him through his smart devices--and they want his invention!

Not much more to add, and I think the other (kind of secret, but some are announced on Patreon) projects are probably more of interest to regular followers, but I needed to write something silly to recover from the past six months or so. i would, but i doubt tumblr will let me post them, for one, so you'd have to DM me—and for two, they're in trmdl format. whether or not you'd be able to actually manipulate them (or even render them) depends on the software you're using. your mileage may vary

dude i already know about how consecutive splats can affect ovulation. they hammer it into your head throughout your middle school health classes. there's a 50/50 chance the attendant in the lobby will tell you all that again while you're queuing up for a match if you look girly enough. the TWAs don't let you play if you're pregnant despite the multiple urban legends that have gone around about finding premature paralarvae in the middle of a stage. i don't give a shit about my fertility. it's super easy to take birth control for a few days if you don't want to have your egg cycle interrupted from getting splatted too much, and if you really want to conceive a child so badly while still participating in turf war just lay the damn egg instead

anyway this isn't even about the technology itself! it's about corporations invalidating our right to privacy!! the software companies that make parts for the respawners linked to randos i team up with don't need to be collecting data that can easily be sold or leaked on what time of the month eggs go through my fucking oviduct!!!!!

“Connor!” Hank dropped to his knees in front of his android charge. Sidearm holstered, he reached out, hesitant. 

Still frozen, lifeless like a broken doll, Connor could only watch as Hank took one of his hands from where they rested in his lap. The sight seemed almost far away… nearly glowing under the weak midday sun. Even still, Connor could feel it as Hank’s warm, calloused palm squeezed his own—he could hear the Lieutenant’s elevated respiration, feel his anxious pulse through the contact in his palm—but he couldn’t react. Couldn’t reciprocate in any way.

Connor was fine, but the remaining seconds that he was powerless to prove it made something inside him hurt.

Gently, almost fearfully hesitant, Hank reached to Connor’s chin, tilting up his head. The sensation was a stark, cutting contradiction to the deviant’s forceful grip—and in a flutter of irrationality, Connor once again found himself verifying his anti-virus program’s readout. 

Still clear. Still nothing. 

He was alright. 

Connor’s vision rose, panning from the Lieutenant’s knees before his own, up to the man’s concerned, gray-framed face. Hank’s expression was pained, his voice tentative, “Can you hear me, son? You okay?” His gaze shifted slightly to Connor’s right, and the finger at his chin tilted his head to follow—Connor’s LED was still an angry, cycling red. 

“Shit, you still in there, Connor?” Hank asked with a bit more urgency. But then his gaze shifted away, and his hand gently lowered Connor’s head. His tone took on a more inward quality, “His LED’s still goin’, probably means he ain’t dead… the fuck did that deviant bastard do?” Careful, probing hands prodded at Connor’s sides, his arms, shoulders, his throat—barely brushing the data panel below his jaw—yet Hank found nothing amiss. “This is why I didn’t want you going off alone, you dumbass!”

Finally, after so many frustrating, powerless minutes, Connor began to regain physical functionality.

His breathing was the first to come back online. In a warmer setting, the influx of air would have been vital to cool his arrested biocomponents—but as his synthetic lungs expanded, Connor was met with the frigid rush of Detroit winter. Some basic, hard-coded instinct sent a violent shiver juddering through him, and Connor’s eyes squinted shut before he realized he’d even regained the ability to blink. He wheezed again, exhaling harshly as if the next breath would not come just as cold. 

“Connor!” Hank gasped, moving to grip the android’s shoulders. “Hang on kid, hang on. I’ve gotcha.”

Though the shivers persisted, each tremor was more fluid—more lifelike—than the last. And before long, Connor was able to perform simple movements of his own volition. With meticulous focus, he strung a sequence of actions together, then executed. First, Connor reached for the Lieutenant’s wrist and grasped it lightly. He slowly shook his head. Then Connor opened his mouth, activated his vocal synthesizer, and whispered, “I’m okay.” 

Yet he sounded anything but. Connor’s voice had come out small, rattled, afraid. He hadn’t queued an emulated well of emotion, hadn’t plotted the expression he could feel furrowing his brows. Androids weren’t supposed to—

“Like hell you are! What the hell happened? What’d that fucker do to you?” Hank’s tone was rough now that the imminent danger had passed, but the sharpest edges had been sanded smooth by relief. Connor couldn’t help but think back to the echo of Hank’s anger—his fear that he might lose…

Connor blinked, then jerked his hand away from Hank’s arm. He tried to right himself, but only managed to sway in Hank’s persistent grasp. The danger had passed, but— “The deviant—” Connor pressed, eyes wide, “It can’t have gotten far. I can track its progress through the cameras from here—” 

“Woah, woah, woah, hold it,” Hank rumbled, biting back a curse as Connor nearly slumped further to the ground. “I’m not going anywhere until I’m sure you’re actually okay. And not just saying it. Why’re you moving like a drunk bag of rocks?”

Hey guys!

I've been stressing out about my game A LOT lately, and I figured I should share with you what I have in mind.

I was considering starting a whole new save to change up my gameplay and editing, but to be honest I love my Westbrook legacy so much, that in reality I don't even want to do that.

SO, I have come to a conclusion that going forward (as in after all my current queued up posts are posted, which might be a while ASDFDFASV), you might see some different type of gameplay with the Westbrooks (other than just the wholesome stuff I'm used to posting).

I'm going to be utilising Basemental more, so you may see sims getting drunk/high/smoking in general, and there might be a few 🌶️spicy🌶️ pictures. I'm also thinking of changing up my editing style, but we'll see how far I get with that since I'm not that good when it comes to editing (I also don't have Photoshop so I can only make do with the free software I have.😭)

I know you're all probably used to the wholesome Westbrook gameplay I post, but I'm still growing and learning as a blog and creator, and I have more ideas that I would like to implement so as to not get burnt out. I'm hoping that as I go along my posts will look much different (in a good way) from when I first started the legacy.

I really hope this is okay with you all, as I truly appreciate every single one of you, especially the ones who've been here supporting me from the start. ❤️

Favorite vacation you've ever taken: Japan on honeymoon. It was amazing.

How many alarms do you set for the morning? Two, not counting my husband's. I have a sunlight alarm that brightens for half an hour up to wake up time, and then the radio comes on... Then my phone alarm as a "no you really need to wake up now". Then there's the kids, most days.

Do you have a skincare routine? Wash and moisturizer. Nothing fancy.

Favorite social media app that isn't tumblr: I don't really use any other than Tumblr. I assume WhatsApp and discord don't really count.

Do you prefer movies or television? I want to say it's a toss-up, and maybe it used to be, but I haven't watched many films lately, and I haven't been able to watch a long film in one sitting for ages. So TV all the way. Plus I hyperfixate way more on TV shows.

Which grocery store do you shop at most often? We get most stuff delivered, but there's a local co-op near school we use for anything that we run out of between orders.

Least favorite chore? I dunno... I find cleaning kind of meditative when I can do it, and I've even made my peace with interminable laundry. I guess cleaning the toilets?

You have to listen to one musical artist for the rest of your life, and only one artist. who do you pick? This question fills me with anxiety. I hyperfixate on music, listen to something to death and then it fades. Consistent favourites? Maybe Nightwish or Shinedown. Or I could cheat and say "the London symphony orchestra" and just have my pick of classical music, which would probably be better than picking a band or singer.

A Widespread Microsoft Outage Disrupted Flights, Banks, Media Outlets And Companies Around The World On Friday And Highlighted Dependence On Software From A Handful Of Providers – New York City reporting

The issue affected Microsoft 365 apps and services, and escalating disruptions continued hours after the technology company said it was gradually fixing it.

Microsoft 365 posted on X that the company was “working on rerouting the impacted traffic to alternate systems to alleviate impact in a more expedient fashion” and that they were “observing a positive trend in service availability.”

Major disruptions reported by airlines and airports grew. Flight tracking website Flightaware reports more nearly 1,000 flights canceled and over 12,000 more are delayed. Chicago O'Hare, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta, Newark , La Guardia and Boston Logan International Airport lead Flightaware's "misery map" with the most delays and cancellations.

In the U.S., the FAA said the airlines United, Delta and Allegiant had all been grounded. American Airlines lifted its ground stop just after 5 a.m ET, saying they were able to "safely re-establish operations."

An earlier ground stop for Frontier Airlines was lifted just after midnight, and the carrier said they had resumed normal operations, for now.

Travelers at Los Angeles International Airport slept on a jetway floor, using backpacks and other luggage for pillows, due to a delayed United flight to Dulles International Airport early on Friday.

Across the pond, Edinburgh Airport said the system outage meant waiting times were longer than usual. London’s Stansted Airport said some airline check-in services were being completed manually, but flights were still operating.

The budget airline Ryanair said they are "experiencing disruption across the network due to a global third party IT outage which is out of our control. We advise all passengers to arrive at the airport at least three hours before their scheduled departure time.”

Widespread problems were reported at Australian airports, where lines grew and some passengers were stranded as online check-in services and self-service booths were disabled. Passengers in Melbourne queued for more than an hour to check in, although flights were still operating. Airlines Virgin Australia and Qantas were severely affected by the outage.

News outlets in Australia — including the ABC and Sky News — were unable to broadcast on their TV and radio channels, and reported sudden shutdowns of Windows-based computers. Some news anchors broadcast live online from dark offices, in front of computers showing “blue screens of death.” Telecommunications providers, banks and media broadcasters were also disrupted as they lost access to computer systems. Outages reported on the site DownDetector included the banks NAB, Commonwealth and Bendigo, as well as internet and phone providers such as Telstra. The New Zealand banks ASB and Kiwibank said their services were down.

Television stations in the United Kingdom were being disrupted by the computer issues.

Hospitals in Britain and Germany also reported problems.

Israel’s Cyber Directorate said that it was among the places affected by the global outages, attributing them to a problem with the cybersecurity platform Crowdstrike. The outage also hit the country’s post offices and hospitals, according to the ministries of communication and health.

In South Africa, at least one major bank said it was experiencing “nationwide service disruptions” as customers reported they were unable to make payments using their bank cards at grocery stores and gas stations.

Numerous European airlines are using manual check-in.
